Olson Energy Service We are a family owned and operated company and still follow the motto my grandfather instilled in our family of employees: We are here to serve. My great-grandfather, Garnett Olson, founded Olson Fuel Company and began selling coal and firewood to homes and businesses in Seattle back in 1926.

What started as a small heating delivery company slowly grew and in the early 1930's expanded its services to include heating oil delivery as coal became a less popular choice for heating homes and businesses in the area.My grandfather Carl, one of Garnett's sons, started working at Olson Fuel Company in 1945 after serving in the Army Air Force in World War II.

I did not check "on time" because the service person was delayed by heavy traffic due to the presence of President Biden in the Seattle area. This same service person performed the annual inspection of our furnace last summer. We were extremely pleased then as we were with the required thermostat replacement during this visit. Olson energy did a fantastic job they replaced my gas furnace with a new Carrier model 90+ efficient. The ducting needed realignment; professional team did all the modifications. Now I can access the furnace ancillary parts including the condensate pump. The team cleaned up the furnace room and left it cleaner than it was before!

We have a 1929 Tudor with a remodeled portion on the West side of Ballard and two separate heating systems. We have had Olson Energy Services work on both systems. They have always been prompt, professional and great partners in keeping our systems running and a great value for the expertise. Thanks Olson team we will continue to work with you!

Our furnace went out during the recent cold snap and we called Olsen energy for help. They said they could send someone over that day as they had a cancellation. When the repair person arrived, I took him down to the furnace. I told him what was going on and then he started measuring the furnace and taking pictures of the ductwork before even taking off the panel and trying to find the problem.

I thought that was strange but left him to figure it out. I came back 10 minutes later Andy asked if he found anything. He then proceeded to tell me that the furnace was too old and they couldn't work on it. He didn't tell me what was wrong and said I needed a new furnace and then told me a salesman would get hold of me. He then said I owed him a 165 dollar service charge and left after I paid him. I never leave reviews but the service I received left a pretty bad taste in my mouth

Started with Olson in 1990, when they delivered the heating oil for the house tank. A couple-three years later they pulled out the oil furnace and installed a new gas furnace. And about 24 years later, that was updated to a newer, more efficiency, and better build gas one. Scheduling was straight forward. Technician serviced our system and was friendly and knowledgeable. Provided some recommendations on minor fixes (sealant, insulation, etc.) we can do to improve the performance of the system. Will continue to have Olson service our equipment. Thanks! Service: HVAC system maintenance

Yuri did a great job. The problem turned out to be a faulty disconnect switch so nothing to do with the furnace. He helped me troubleshoot it and I was able to replace the switch and get my tenants' heat back on. Thank you! Service: Heating system repair

In this cold snap, my thermostat went offline and my furnace was unresponsive. I called Olsen on Monday morning, left a message and got a call back later that afternoon. Since I was with no heat at all, they were able to get someone out to my house on Tuesday morning. Chris checked the furnace itself and quickly saw that the condensate drain was frozen solid so the furnace couldn't pump out the water to cycle correctly.

He got his heat gun, thawed everything and my thermostat came back to life as did my heat. Nothing needed actual repair or replacement and I was thrilled to have heat again. Great team at Olsen!

Olson Energy came to our rescue when our old heating system quit during very cold December weather. They understood that we were completely without heat and diagnosed the problem and installed a new heating system within days. We were relieved to get it replaced and happy with their work. Services: Install thermostat, Heating system installation, Install AC

Olson's was very responsive to calls and replies -- highly satisfactory. The actual visit was scheduled 6-8 weeks out, which seemed long. It wasn't a problem, just unexpected. The reason for the wait was that we had heat: they presumably respond immediately to urgent requests. Further, Autumn-Winter is the busy season! -- quite satisfactory. The service person arrived exactly on time and the visit was very quick.

They knew their stuff, diagnosed the issue, and requested the office to order the part(s). -- highly satisfactory The office called within the hour to confirm the order -- again highly satisfactory. I will definitely recommend them and will call them again.

Worst service ever. The technician is not even capable of solving any issue and said "I don't know what is wrong".

Without question, one of the worst customer interactions I've experienced. Olson installed a water heater and boiler in our home seven years ago. The equipment is good and continues to work well. However, one section of the new copper pipe Olson installed is failing at a joint prematurely with severe corrosion. We called to have it looked at and were immediately told they don't work on boilers and can't help. First, what about standing by your work?

Seven years isn't long for heavy gauge copper pipe. Second, the joint doesn't meet code. They attached copper directly to threaded iron pipe with no dielectric (Seattle Plumbing Code 605.15, 507.1 if interested). I called back and spoke with manager Chris, his responses: "Olson was bought 7 years ago".so no service on previous work? "We don't have boiler technicians".is a pipe outside of the boiler, basic plumbing. "Maybe it was and old pipe, or someone else did the work".no, big stickers on the equipment with Olson, tech. names, install date. "We have record it passed inspection".so, Olson did do the work.

And inspections missing a defective joint doesn't mean the work was done properly. "You probably haven't had things serviced enough".What, it's our fault? The boiler and water heater work fine, the pipe joint that's about to burst is the issue. Beyond utter lack of accountability or willingness to assist, the communication was defensive, rude, and accusatory. Complete opposite of decent customer service. Olson's been around a while and used to have a good reputation, but I recommend looking elsewhere.

After 30 years we needed to replace our furnace and air cleaner - it was an easy choice to stay with Olson Energy G.A.S. who had done our original installation in the 90's. The price was right, the service top notch, the replacement installation was quick (less than half a day) and the guys left our home as clean as the way they found it. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Olson to all of our friends and to you too!

Chris was a huge help to our family as he helped our mother/mother-in-law get her old, old, old furnace (conversion burner) repaired so she will have heat again this winter. Her furnace is about 100 years old and the gas conversion burner was apparently the problem. They don't exactly make these things anymore, so Chris called around and found another place who could repair it. Thanks Chris for your personal attention to detail on this one. Go with small family-owned business, folks, as they go the extra mile! Thanks from Zona and her girls!

I called for an appointment on Friday and got scheduled for Tuesday. I informed the person that I would be using the $99 coupon for a furnace tune-up. The technician (Chris) was on time and I showed him how to access the furnace in the crawl space. He spent at least 30 minutes checking everything and replacing the filter. I was happy there was no up sell or coupon shaming. From what I can see this outfit appears honest and on time. I would definitely use these folks if and when my furnace has any problems. Thanks Olson Energy.

From the moment I called and spoke to dispatch to the end of the service of repairing my Carrier furnace and installing a new hot water tank, Olson Energy and my service technician, Amor did an OUTSTANDING job and I would highly recommend them to other homeowners in Seattle. Thank you, Olson Energy Service.

My story is complex. Bought new bryant gas furnace system 1997. Coils failed in 2010, told to buy new system, no other option. New bryant plus95s purchased. This system failed in 2018. I was told by technician that it was a defect in the carrier coil design and that in 2010 there was a class action lawsuit involving both systems. I had been paying a yearly fee to olson energy for maintenance of the system, When Chris came to give me a bid for replacement, it was $17,500! Fortunately i found a dealer who did the job for $7,750. I write this one year after the system failed and olson, failed to step up with some consideration of the product they sold me. Btw: I now will only use trane products.

Online, I requested a quote for service. I received an email from them stating someone would contact me within 24 hours. That never happened. No phone call, no follow up email. That was two months ago. Since then I've had the work done with Washington Energy Services, who did a great job.

A huge shout-out to Olson Energy for my new AC. I had four different companies come out for a bid, and I felt that Chris recommended the equipment that would be best for me. He impressed me as being extremely knowledgeable and also very straightforward and honest. On the day of the installation two very skilled men came, Tom and Dan. They were friendly, efficient, cleaned up completely and the new equipment works great. Thank you, Olson Energy!

Olson installed a very expensive gas boiler / on-demand water heater in our house about 8 years ago, and has serviced it a few times since. I've generally been quite happy with them, but today when our heat went out and I called them I was told quite rudely that they don't service boilers anymore and I was just out of luck. I understand that a company may make a decision to get out of a particular line of business, but they did do installations and they know that heat is something people depend on getting fixed in an emergency.

If you're going to stand behind your work, the reasonable thing to do would be to offer a referral to someone who they know can do the service. Instead, the initial response was a very unsympathetic "I guess you're out of luck, " as if boilers were some outdated technology we'd be lucky to get someone to look at. He did give me the names of a couple places when I pressed him, but he didn't have phone numbers and didn't even seem confident those places would be able to service it either. Heating systems are a long-term investment. If you're looking for someone who will stand behind you long term, I recommend you look elsewhere.

I will never use this company again and will not recommend to anyone. I had a problem with the pilot light in my furnace last winter. A technician came and he was there for less than 10 minutes, 2 of which he had to answer his phone and listen to the recording that his prescription was ready at Walgreens. He took a flashlight, peeked inside and said "I can't fix it." He said my heater was too old. Didn't even take anything apart and tinker around.

He basically said my heater could blow, charged me the fee and left. I called Puget Sound Energy that same day because I didn't believe him. The very competent technician came the next day, took apart my heater and replaced some tubing. That's all it was. No parts needs except some metal tubing. He was there no more than an hour. It's worked great ever since and cost me nothing.

I had sent an email to Olson's Energy explaining my dissatisfaction and they never responded. I take that back, they responded with my paid invoice. That's it. This company is the worst. One star is too much. I was totally ripped off.

Worked with Chris at Olson energy. Great! They have serviced our furnace for years. Always knowledgeable and down to earth. And professional. Recently they installed a new furnace and a heat pump system. We went from bid to full install in about a week! And, from cold call to bid in a few days. This is excellent! And, the price was fair and competitive. Highly recommend Olson energy.

Here we sit, nice and cozy again after Olson Energy replaced our very old furnace that finally gave up. Olson's staff great to deal with from the start. We received a very competitive bid and they put us on the schedule right away. They sent two technicians out who were prompt, tidy, very pleasant, and got the job done in a timely manner AND we were able to scoot the new furnace back a bit, which my husband has wanted to do for ages, to gain extra space in the laundry room. We highly recommend this local company!

Great, quick response for a furnace replacement in a cold February. Chris was the sales contact, Tom and Larry did the installation. Great experience all around. There were some complications with the existing plumbing / ventilation, but Olson came back the day after installation to troubleshoot and make sure everything was up and running.

I called Olson when my furnace failed recently. They arrived promptly and quickly fixed the problem. They charged me $884. The charge included $561 for a circuit board. I googled the circuit board and found that its available on Amazon for $134. It looks like they are marking up their parts to over 4 times what they pay for them. UPDATE: They contacted me and made a satisfactory adjustment to correct a billing error. I am very happy with their service.

Came out for a $125 service appointment, technician apparently decided to do some extra work like clean parts of furnace, air filter etc. Nothing wrong with that except for the fact he did it without letting us know it would be billed for $115 extra as "30 min misc labor" and requesting prior approval. $115 for 30 minutes? Again, we booked a $125 service appt that was invoiced at $240 at the end, no heads up or questions asked beforehand.

To add to this, the customer service guy on the phone could use some guidance on how to handle customers during phone conversations. 1/6/15 - UPDATE The Owner called and was apologetic about the ordeal and mentioned he had already initiated a deposit back to our checking account for the amount we were charged for 30 minutes of Misc work. Thank you!

We had Olson Energy install 2 heat pumps in our home in he Spring of 2016, and we are so happy we did. They took great care of our house during installation, routed the piping in a very non-obtrusive way, and left the home as spotless as they found it. We noticed a problem within the first few days, and they came out and fixed it THE SAME DAY WE CALLED THEM, That was awesome.

This review is based on a bid I received (no actual work) and interactions with the selling agent. We were replacing an old oil furnace with a new one and asked for bids. Olson's gave us a bid for putting up new registers and a very involved ductwork system. When we talked with them we emphasized we wanted to use less ductwork so eventually our basement is livable. Furthermore, our house is small (first floor is ~850 sq ft) so we absolutely don't need to have registers near the windows.

I repeatedly asked for a bid that uses the old register openings rather than cut out new holes into our oldish house and creaking floors. I was told the price would be the same. Overall, I felt they were taking advantage of a me as a client selling me on something more expensive than needed. Needless to say, they didn't get my business.
