Since the 1920s Maitz Home Services has been installing home comfort systems for residents of Allentown and the surrounding area. Some of you may remember us as Snyder Plumbing & Heating. It was back in 1964 that a bright and ambitious young man named Charles Maitz purchased Snyder and renamed it Maitz Plumbing & Heating.
Around this time, central air conditioning was fast becoming a necessity throughout the greater Allentown area. Quickly, Maitz acquired the expertise to provide his extensive customer base with complete central air conditioning installation and repair services. Then, in the early '70s the name was changed again to Maitz Plumbing, Heating & Cooling.

There are so many more options for the homeowner when it comes to water heating systems. In recent years the trend has been to tankless and hybrid water heater systems that offer the promise of lower energy bills and endless hot water. However, a tankless hybrid might not be for you. Your home and family may be better served with a traditional tank water heating system.

My issue with them was misrepresentation of pricing. When i called I asked what it would take to get someone to my house to figure out what is wrong with my HVAC system. I was told $20 for a gas fee (understandable with today's economy) and a $89 dispatch fee. I was told that they would diagnose the problem and let me know the cost before proceeding.
My issue is that I was not told about a $161 diagnostic and troubleshooting fee on top of the other 2 fees. Also note nothing was fixed, whatever happened seems to have corrected itself. This diagnostic fee should have been mentioned prior. The technician started talking about an addition $20 prior to calling the office and returning with the 161 number.
He was at my house for barely and hour and spent about half that time int he truck doing the paper work and calling the office. The extra gas fee now seems ridiculous since they charged the diagnostic fee on top of the dispatch fee. I will never use or recommend them again.

Our A/C unit stopped working and we already had one person come out to check on it, but we wanted a second opinion. Maitz comes out and says that the system is done for and because of how old it was it would be better to just have a new system installed. Now this sounded weird to us because our home was new in 2017, so I don't know how we could've had a A/C unit from 2006 (this is what both the first guy and Maitz said it was from.) Maitz has one of their salesmen guys come out to quote us on getting a new system.
He was nice at first and was explaining to us how this all works and what kind of new system we would be getting. When it got to the point of having to finance it the salesman started becoming pushy and wanted us to apply for a loan with Synchrony Bank. With the 8k-14k price tag we wanted to talk it over. Well, we ended up putting a claim with our insurance company to see if they would cover the costs.
When i told the salesman this he seemed agitated and was saying we need to put this in ASAP in case of supply issues. Our insurance company ended up sending another company out to check our unit and the third company told us the unit is from 2016 and that it's fixable for $3,000 not the $7-8k Maitz quoted. So moral of the story here is unless you want to be replacing a whole new thing and have to finance it somehow go with someone else.

I want to give a "heads up" to anyone who uses Maitz Home Services. This is an account of my first-hand experience with Maitz: In the early hours of the morning, I had a pipe burst in my upstairs bathroom. Since I currently have and have had a service contract with Maitz for over thirteen years, I called them and asked them to send over a plumber immediately.
After waiting for more than an hour, the plumber finally arrived and found the problem in a matter of minutes. Since the water from the bathroom had leaked downstairs to the main floor and then even further, downstairs into the basement, the plumber called a water damage restoration company. He seemed to know the people at this company on a first-name basis.
I thought this was a good idea because I like it when people can refer a company. To me, it means that they have had many prior good experiences with the company and therefore they can recommend it. But a few days later, I found out that it was the biggest mistake! The company that the plumber called did do the restoration work however, I had major problems with them! Then, I found out a few weeks later, that the plumber got a "kickback" / referral fee, for recommending the restoration company.
I originally thought that the plumber was looking out for my best interest, since I have been a customer of Maitz for so many years. But unfortunately, that was not the case! The only person the plumber was looking out for that day was himself, because he would be getting extra cash in his pocket! Since I did not like what happened, I called the plumbing manager at Maitz to ask about "kickbacks" / referral fees.
He told me that the company is aware of their techs accepting referral fees and that Maitz is okay with that. Yikes! Also, the fee paid to the plumber did not come from Maitz, it came from the company that the plumber was referring. I did verify with the restoration company that they did indeed pay the plumber from Maitz. In my opinion, when a plumber gets a "kickback" from the company that they are referring, it makes that referral much less credible, if at all credible!
If you ever have water damage at your house and you call a plumber from Maitz Home Services, please keep in mind that the only reason that they may recommend a restoration company, is because they might be getting paid extra money that day for doing so. Therefore, do yourself a big favor, get a second opinion, maybe a third opinion and look into other restoration companies, before you make your decision as to who you will choose!

Kevin showed up on time. Told me the truth about what to expect. Provided a reasonable price to replace my hot water heater. Replaced unit quickly with attention to detail & very clean. Very courteous & professional. I will be calling Maitz for my next need for a plumber without question. (on a side note.whatever you are paying him - pay him more!) Very pleased with the services I received.

Dale, was wondering technician and I would refer anyone to request him. He seen the stress that I was feeling about this issue and he was confident that he would resolve my issue. He was very knowledgeable about the products, services and provided me with my options. He did not mind going into the garage to shut of the power.as we laughed about it.
He took the time to explain everything to me. He was very professional and courtesy. He wore his face mask and offered to wear shoe covers. He said he had OCD and I can tell because he took his time and cleaned as he worked. I sent before and after pictures to family and friends and they loved the new set up. By the time he was done my stress was relieved and I didn't mind paying for the work and the knowledge.
I told him I was a first time homeowner and he advised me of the different things that the company offers for me to enhance my water system. By the end of the job I did not feel like a company was doing the work but rather a friend. Thanks Dale!

Shady and not to be trusted. The only and if even positive input is that they came the same day, but they do that so they can take your money. Tech spent a whole day and had to come back another day because they could not figure out the problem. They changed wires which cost $250, still it was not working. Another tech had to come to tell us that it's the compressor and that due to underlying issues we were better of to get a whole new system. Paid for the so called work without resolving issue, told us that I saved $600+ for what?
For wasting my day and $350+ gone down the drain. Also they charged $100 to replace the humidifier replacement pad when it is $20 online. They overcharge and take advantage of people in need. Absolutely appalled and horrified by my experience. Always willing to give anyone a chance, but listen to the bad reviews. They aren't lying. Very evasive when answering questions about the warranty.
They quoted us from $14-16k to replace everything by an advisor. They spoke a lot of how trustworthy and reliable they are. It didn't feel right. Got another opinion, they diagnosed in less than an hour. Found the warranty on the heat pump and quoted us a fair price for a new compressor without having to replace the whole system. Maitz quoted us 3x more to change the compressor.

I had Maitz Home Services come to my home on 1/26/22. My husband and I were unable to remove the water filter to put a new one on. We had our own water filter mind you. 2 guys showed up and told me the total bill with the $89 service fee would be $179 - kind of pricey but we needed it done and to be shown what we were doing wrong so we could replace the water filter in the future.
The filter housing is easily accessible (see photo). While they were here the 2 guys were saying things like they must have money, this house is pretty new, guessing at how much land we have. So when I got charged an extra $110 - a total of $268 for 10 minutes of work it really felt like a scam. I will never use Maitz again & I intended to tell everyone I know what frauds they are. You don't charge people based off of what you think they have! Honor your pricing! How much do you want to bet these techs get a commission?

Don't bother calling this company if you furnace breaks down. We called on a Friday afternoon and made an appointment for Saturday 10-2 window. At 2:10 we called to find out where our service person was and we were told other people had "real" emergency heating issues. Keep in mind our furnace was down and it was 10 degrees outside and we had an scheduled appointment.
They said they would call back in a hour to let us know when our service would happen. 1.5 hours later when no one called we called back and were then told no one would be able to come out at all. So it's important to know when you see the commercials claiming how reliable and great they are when you need help don't believe a word of it. Appointments do matter, you will not receive service.

I would like to thank our service technician, Jose, and the entire Maitz team for would I would consider to be an exceptional customer experience. My family and I encountered a water leak in our basement and within 24 hours, Jose showed up four hours earlier than scheduled and remained on site for the better part of 8 hours to insure a quality diagnosis, repair of the leak and installation of a new water softener.
His level of professionalism, knowledge and commitment to leaving the home just as he found it were all beyond expectations. Thank you again from a grateful family, keep up the great work!

I have been using Maitz Home Services as a contractor in my home for several years now. Jobs they have done include: replacing whole-house water filtration system, installing clean sump pit and battery back-up sump pump, unclogging drains, installing exhaust fan with light over shower, installing panel for easier accessablility to shower/tub plumbing.
