So, I waited a few weeks to post this review, because I wanted to give it some thought before I posted. Here's what happened. I was out of town on business when my wife called and said there was a bunch of water coming out of the furnace and leaking on the floor. I wasn't home to handle the situation, so I got online and called Gahanna Heating & Cooling because of their excellent reviews and proximity to my home.
The good.they answered the call & were quick to schedule someone to get out & take a look at the issue. Customer service was top-notch. Quick, friendly, responsive and professional. As I wasn't home and couldn't diagnose the issue, I very much appreciated that they got to the house so quickly & figured out the problem. Turns out the drain pan under the A coil had a crack in it and needed to be pulled & replaced.
Most homeowners have no idea what that even means. and as I talked to Neil, he explained that the system would need to be drained of refrigerant, the A coil would need to be cut out & removed so that the drain pan could be replaced. The A coil would then need to be re-inserted, the refrigerant lines would need to be re-braised (soldered into place), the system would then need to be re-charged with refrigerant and tested to make sure everything was working as it should. Neil was great! he told me he would get two or three guys out and they'd knock the repair out in 4 hours or less. But, it would cost me $810 because of the amount of time & labor.
As I was traveling and needed to take care of the issue, I told him to go ahead and schedule the work. They sent one guy out to do the job. I got done with work early & headed home. I got back an hour after the tech had arrived-as he was finishing up the job and getting ready to leave. So, I had the opportunity to talk to him. Turns out, there was enough play in the refrigerant lines so that he was able to remove the cover, lift the A coil & insert a new drain pan.
He didn't have to drain the system, disconnect the A coil or recharge the system. Anyway, problem solved & I told the tech I'd call the office & talk to them about the final invoice because it had taken one guy an hour to complete a job that had been quoted for 2-3 guys at 4 hours. So, I called the office & spoke to Robin, she said she would speak to Neil about it and get back to me. Robin called a couple of days later & said, it'll still be $810 for the work although they weren't charging me the $180 invoice for the initial visit to diagnose the issue.
I told Robin I expected better of a 5 star rated business. I asked to speak to Neil & she told me she had already talked to him & he wasn't available to speak to me; I said, "Have him call me" & she told me he wouldn't be available to speak to me in the near future. This conversation quickly became very contentious & Robin became very agitated. She told me to pay whatever I felt was fair, she told me not to pay & they'd just write it off, she told me they'd never do work for me again.
She was very aggressive and belligerent because I told her that the job that was quoted wasn't the work they ended up doing. In the end, I sent them the check for $810-which they cashed. The reason I chose to write this review is because I know most people rely on "professionals" in areas regarding HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. & that they usually don't know anything about the systems they need help with.as a contractor, I do know how these systems work & how to install them.
I was treated rudely & given a raft of s**t from Robin for having the audacity to question the charges, and I was still being asked to pay for a much more involved job then what actually happened. Gahanna Heating and Cooling seem like good folks on the surface, but be careful and question what you feel isn't right. In my case, I paid $75 for parts and $735 for labor and travel.which is shady as hell.

Ronnie was very responsive and even called after to follow up. Cameron was professional and detail oriented. This is now my goto company for my York systems. They checked my system after another company told me I had a cracked heat exchanger. Turned out to be nothing wrong. Thanks, guys! Service:HVAC system maintenance

We have used Gahanna Heating & Cooling twice now in the last two months. Both times, they arrived within a hour of giving them a call. Our technician Ralph L. was fantastic. He was very professional and fixed our issue in a timely manner. They do not try and sell you on needing other work done and fix the issue as quickly as they could. I highly recommend Gahanna Heating & Cooling for all your heating or cooling needs. It is nice to have a company you can count on to not try and price gauge you. Thanks Ralph for the quality work.

We were very happy with Gahanna Heating and Cooling when they replaced our air conditioner and furnace. Ronnie provided excellent customer service through the entire process all the way to following up on the installation after it was complete. He assisted in filing for our 10 year warranty and was able to help us secure an additional warranty on labor! Thanks Ronnie for making it an easy process and going the extra mile providing great customer service via text (even on Saturday weeks after our engagement)!
