I switched to KNOW Heating after using a big name company that I did service with for almost 10 years. The big name company with fancy commercials on TV And took monthly service amounts to "make it easier" for me. 2 years ago they said that I needed to replace my ENTIRE air conditioning unit that they had been servicing for almost 10 years. The unit was only 11 years old at that point.
They tried to sell me a new one for $9k! I decided to get a second opinion and had 3 different companies come to check the unit. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. They said someone had loosen up a valve and all the antifreeze was gone. Needless to say I was almost the victim of fraudulent business practices. I dropped my contract and have been with KNOW ever since - you WILL NOT find a better HVAC company with amazing customer service and integrity. Ask for Scott! I have referred 5 people since then and they all love the service.

I love this company. I have been using them for about 7 yrs for furnace, air conditioner maintenance, and the issues that have come up with them. From the phone call to the appointment, I've only experience polite, professional and quick service and then some. It's so nice to have that resource when you live in an old house. Side note: I just read a lot of the other reviews. Jeremy, what is up with one star when you ended saying you were a fan for life?
Another low star review was for turning off furnace because of a carbon monoxide issue. He was legally bound because of his certification. Who does that? I'm not related to this company in any way, just think it's unfair.

Scott came by and while he was friendly he turned off the furnace in the crawlspace without saying anything to anyone. Who does that? This isn't your property! While I do know why he did it, that furnace has been going for almost 2 years, yes it's bad, but no one asked you to turn it off. Will pass, besides the amount quoted was not only obnoxious high, but almost enough for me to buy a smaller house.

If you are looking for an HVAC company, look no further. I can't say enough good things about this company. There isn't a question they can't answer. Their technicians are professionals in the truest sense of the word. On top of that, very kind, courteous, friendly, won't rush you, will answer all of your questions, will give you the options and let you decide (not pushy), and as trustworthy as they come. This is only contractor I have used where I won't seek a second opinion. Don't bother researching any more - if you need help with your HVAC, KNOW is the way to go!

The most knowledgeable folks in the industry. They pick the best option for YOU! In all my years of working with KNOW this has coincidentally been the cheapest option for me. For example, when I purchased my home 14 years ago a well k own competitor insisted I needed a new furnace. I got a second opinion from KNOW. I still have that furnace! They do regular maintenance and service. It's rare to trust a company so much. Whatever they say. Do it.

NOTE: PLEASE READ THIS! I originally left KNOW a terrible review based on my dealings with someone who had answered the phone in 2015. When researching HVAC folks for the 3rd year in a row and still not satisfied with any of the solutions offered to me, I came across KNOW again and said, "Let's see what they have to offer." Well, I hired KNOW, and they were fantastic (as you'll read), but I have left this 1 star rating to grab the attention of consumers like myself who read the poor reviews first.
I would rate KNOW Heating 10/5 stars if that were an option. If you are a research-obsessed consumer, please continue to read. Warning: this is not a short review. My HVAC woes began when my partner and I bought our house in early 2017. After looking at the furnace and thermostat (no AC installed) in our almost 130-year-old home, I knew we were going to need to replace the furnace and install central air.
We moved in in the winter, and it was clear that our system was not enough for our home (or so it seemed from the very cold temperature upstairs regardless of the first floor temperature). After doing a LOT of research myself on HVAC forums, I had decided that in order to get comfort on my second floor there would need to be an air return added (there were only supply ducts, no returns -- and my research showed that wasn't giving us a complete system, e.g. -- no circulation).
Over 2 years, I received 11 estimates to replace my furnace and install central air. After mentioning to every technician who visited that I wanted to add in an air return in the upstairs hallway, I received the same response: "Let's install the system, and we can look into installing a return later if you still think there's an issue." As a research-obsessed professional consultant, I was truly stricken by the lack of wherewithal each of these technicians seemed to have.
After all, it seemed fairly straightforward that I needed a return in order to fully circulate air to and from my second floor. Fast forward to late summer 2020, I knew that we were reaching a breaking point (literally) as my furnace was dying. I went through the usual cycle of dealing with several technicians whose solutions to my wanting an air return were equivocated by installing more powerful equipment, and then I met Scott, my KNOW Heating technician.
I told Scott my entire HVAC saga and he said three things that immediately assured me that he knew what he was talking about. 1.) Air return(s) on the second floor were essential and I wasn't crazy, 2.) when I mentioned every other technician wanted to compensate with more powerful equipment he said, "And what do you think would happen if I put an elephant's heart in your chest?", and 3.) He requested I hang out in the basement while he used some magical device to calculate the load my house could handle based on the circumference on my existing duct work (this is the key limiting factor in system sizing). Subsequently, I have never seen another HVAC technician perform this type of calculation.
As Scott would say, "Long story shorter.(as I apparently ran out of characters earlier in drafting this review). Scott did not install an air return in my second floor's floor, he installed 4 air returns placed in the ceiling of each of my second floor bedrooms. He installed a new furnace and a new central air system. I will not tell you what I paid because I know as a consultant every job is different, but I will give you this analysis on numbers: What I paid for Scott's work was approximately 35% more than the average bid received to simply install a new furnace and central air.
He spent 5 business days installing the ducts. I believe you get what you pay for, generally, and I think for what I received, the price was more than fair. Scott has earned a lifetime fan of KNOW Heating! Lastly, I'm writing this review while it's 40 degrees outside. My thermostat is set to 70 degrees and it feels the same on my first and second floors.

My thermostat stop working. Apparently there is was a wiring issue. The solution was to just replace the thermostat with another battery operated one. As with my complaint with plumbers and electricians. COST I own multiple properties and I've never been satisfied with what I pay for service. Maybe I can share my grief with other people. The retail value for the thermostat was $60. I was charged $300 to simply switch it out. But what am I gonna do?

This company has Amazing customer service, thorough service and professionalism and no sales pitch - ALL FACTS! Scott was the person that did our service and was transparent, knowledgeable and respectful. Prior to the service with KNOW, I received my service from a company I have used for 7 years. After receiving our annual A/C unit tune up the "technician" told us that we had a "possible leak", an old system, and also the placement of our unit needed to be placed in another area of our home.
He said that he could do a leak check for $3,000 BUT that might not fix the problem and that we should have another "technician" come check our unit and provide us with a price on a WHOLE NEW SYSTEM! To say that I was shocked is an understatement. I bought my house new and had used this other company for 7 years to maintenance a brand new system! The other "technician said he would give me a 15% discount on a system and pay $5,700!
I decided I needed a second opinion and So happy that I did - a had a few options but when the service professional from KNOW Heating came over, my husband and I knew immediately that we actually had someone that cared more about determining the real issue and establishing a relationship; rather than just a company looking to make money by using fear during a stressful time. I have cancelled my membership with the other company and look forward to this new relationship with KNOW Hearting!

I wasn't sure exactly what I needed, I just know my wife said the heater didn't feel as warm. I called Know Heating at a neighbor's recommendation. They sent Scott out the next day. Scott was well mannered, and explained what he was doing the whole time. I know a bit about electronics, so he spoke on that level, and didn't try to hide anything on his meter.
We found a small issue that a few taps corrected, and now all three elements kick on. I feel they were honest and reasonable, and will definitely be having a long term relationship with this company.

My furnace went out when it was -30 out this week. I called at 7:30pm. They had a technician out within 35 minutes! Scott diagnosed my issue as a faulty control board. He showed me exactly what he was doing and also why he was doing it. Never tried to sell me anything. He knows I am a do it yourself person and advised me of where I could possibly find the part I needed. Scott's been in the industry over a decade and his certification patches show it!
I will need a new furnace soon and I will definitely purchase it from this company. Will recommend KNOW Heating and Scott to everyone I know. P.S. The customer service from the office was also impeccable!

Our AC went out last week on Tuesday night. I called KNOW first thing Wednesday morning, within two hours the technician was there and he was a true professional. Checked everything out, helped educate me on our building and our HVAC system and everything in between. Turns out the unit was completely shot. Two days later (July 19) the. technicians returned for installation of the new AC unit and did a fantastic job.
They were transparent, communicated greatly with us and the price was much better than I was expecting. I would highly recommend KNOW heating to anyone experiencing HVAC problems.

These folks blew us away with their professionalism and expertise. They had someone out to help us the next morning, even on a weekend, and the technician was friendly and clearly knew his stuff. The issue turned out to be far different than we expected, but they walked us through options and made sure we understood the big picture view of the situation. A less reputable company could have easily preyed on our ignorance and offered a quick fix, along with its own issues down the road. We would call them again in a heartbeat.

I Absolutely recommend this company! My furnace went out on Tuesday a day before the Polar Vortex! They offered at 1 hour service call and was at my house within 30 mins. Scott quickly assessed the problem, offered a safe temporary fix to keep the furnace running and get the house warm. Scott returned the next day to make the permanent fix. Outstanding customer service, actually the best I have ever had in a service provider. I will never call anyone else. Great service will make me a customer for life.

Amazing! I had no heat, called know heating and Scott came out cleaned the flame sensor. And I was able to get on with my day, no upselling or buying unnecessary parts just cleaned it off and within 15-20 minutes of him coming to my door he was leaving and my heater was working! What a great experience! And he was easy to talk to and good at explaining so even my 3 year old had a good idea what was happening!

We woke up today with no heat (and 15° outside). KNOW had a technician out less than two hours after I called. He confirmed the problem (a broken blower motor), but didn't have the part on hand. When it wasn't at the warehouse like he hoped, he went to the trouble of chasing the motor down from another tech working across town, brought it back and. got us up and running in no time!
He was professional, friendly, and quick. I can't recommend KNOW enough; they'll be my first call the next time I need Heat/AC service, emergency or not! EDIT: Since then, we had our Heating/Cooling system replaced. Scott gave us great advice on our options without any pressure to buy (we took almost a year to make a decision and nobody called to push us along or anything). The system works great and they did a thorough six-month maintenance which was included in the price of the system. Super happy so far!

I called this company for a quote on residential air installation and she asked me questions about the area I live in then told me they charge to provide a quote because "it cost the technician gas to come out". I of course can't prove it but I think she told me they charge based on the area I'm located.

Our furnace went out on a holiday weekend and I was thrilled to hear Know Heating could get a technician out today. He got here within an hour! The woman who answered my call was friendly and got things moving quickly. I honestly cannot say enough good about my experience today! Not only do we have working heat, but my technician (M. Scott) made sure I knew exactly what was done and why.
He was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. It felt like I had called an old friend to help me out rather than a typical service call. My technician showed me what I could do myself in the future and gave me bonus advice on filters and CO detectors. I will 100% recommend Know Heating to anyone in the Columbus area. We have had 2 excellent experiences with KNOW. Scott has been our technician on both occasions. He is knowledgeable, honest, and fair. He takes the time to explain the issues at length and is not looking to overcharge customers. Our heat went out today (of course, the coldest day to date this year) and he was able to squeeze us in at the last minute. This company is top-notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

We had a wonderful experience with Scott from KNOW today. We called this morning about our heat not working and they sent soemone out by 11am. My Husband and I just purcahsed our house in April so this is our first winter in the house. When Scott arrived he immediatly recognized the issue and walked me and my husband through what was wrong. Our furnance will need to be replaced and was honest with our options and even suggested us get bids from multple places. Scott was honest and thorough throughout his visit.
He even identified other problems that related to HVAC that our inpector did not report when we purchased our home. We are now Customers for life and will recommend Scott and KNOW for all heating and cooling needs. KNOW heating- You are certinily lucky to have Scott Downs on your staff.

This review so far is based just on an inspection visit and the results from it. I will update my review after our transaction is complete, and again when the unit has been in service for a while. My furnace started making a loud bang during ignition and it was almost 30 years old. I found KNOW through Yelp, and called them. They picked up (everyone else wanted me to leave a voicemail) and I was able to schedule an appointment.
The lady on the phone was nice and explained how the whole visit would work. The day before the appointment they called to confirm and the next morning I received a phone call saying that a technician was available earlier if I wanted which was nice. Scott showed up and performed an inspection on my furnace, coil, and compressor. Scott was extremely knowledgeable about my unit, and walked me through the whole inspection. Explaining what was causing my furnace to explode occasionally and what would be needed to replace the unit.
He explain the cost and gave me time to explore the different units, even encouraging me to shop around. He layout the different warranties and explained every thing on the proposal over some coffee. There was no upselling, or pushiness at all. That was probably the best thing. I had done a ton of research on my issue, my unit, the way an inspection should be carried out and the questions I should ask if a problem was discovered.
Everything was right on par with what I was expecting and he answered all of my questions without me even needing to ask them. After Scott left I worked out the financing and within 15 mins had my confidence restored that I wouldn't be sitting cold all winter. My new furnace is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday morning (12/31) just in time for New Years. Edit: 12/31 Upgraded from 4 Star to 5 Star Scott and another Technician arrived around 8AM and begin the removal and installation of the new furnace.
They wrapped up the process around 4:45pm, and my house was warm again by 5:00pn. Company gave me a two hour window when the tech would come, and followed up with the phone call to tell me he was on his way. He arrived right on time and Scott was punctual, pleasant, and a wealth of knowledge. He took the time to explain what was wrong, and demonstrate how to clean the unit and manage heating and cooling costs. To the other reviewers point, our bill also came in at about $250 for some fried part, and bc I know nothing about AC units, perhaps it was quite an overcharge.
That said, every business has a mark up, and given the $39 service charge at KNOW compared to the $130 one that Favret quoted, I'm fine with it; you'll take it on the chin somewhere in the pricing. More importantly, I've dealt with so many unprofessional, unreliable, and downright questionable home repair people and installers that I'm more than willing to pay for people who are customer-oriented, even if it isn't the cheapest. You get what you pay for.
That said, every business has a mark up, and given the $39 service charge at KNOW compared to the $130 one that Favret quoted, I'm fine with it; you'll take it on the chin somewhere in the pricing. More importantly, I've dealt with so many unprofessional, unreliable, and downright questionable home repair people and installers that I'm more than willing to pay for people who are customer-oriented, even if it isn't the cheapest. You get what you pay for.

Overcharged us for a AC dual capacitor replacement the part cost 50 bucks. They charged us 40 dollars for a service call and 210 for putting the 50 dollar part in which only took 3 minutes. So in total they charged us 250 dollars to put in a 50 dollar part. The service guy was here for 5-10 minutes tops. They did the job and the repairman was very nice but they overcharged us.

I have been a customer of KNOW Heating for over 2 years. From the office to the technicians, everyone I have encountered has been very helpful, provided excellent customer service and has always been personable. Pina in the office has been great at helping find workable service times and to call when servicing is due and when they are on their way. Scott has been my technician and has consistently gone above and beyond my expectations to explain how my systems work, what he is analyzing and showing me what he is doing.
With an older system in my home, it would be easy for a dishonest technician to suggest unnecessary repairs and parts. I am grateful to have a technician with integrity who is helping me safely extend the life of my furnace & AC. I have recommended this company to others and would not hesitate to recommend them again.
