There are simple things everyone can do to keep their home comfortable, no matter the season - like changing your air filter. That saves money by operating your HVAC system with greater efficiency. But your furnace and air conditioning require regular maintenance, which is where the experience and expertise of Favret Heating and Cooling can help.
Simple maintenance also extends the life of your HVAC system but when you do need a new furnace or A/C, Favret offers a full line of Carrier products that keep your home comfortable in every season.

Humidity in the summertime makes it feel even warmer out than the temperature indicates. But in the winter, the right level of humidity in your home can make it comfortable - when you want to feel warmer. And installing in a programmable thermostat will make your energy use smarter, saving as much as 30 percent on your heating bill.

Have been a Favret client for nearly 4 years, buying the annual maintenance agreement each year. On 4/22/22 my six month service call was complete. Today (6/28/22) I had a direct gas line installed by another firm, who detected a gas odor and found gas leaks around and near my furnace. Called Favret and they came out the same day and acknowledged a gas odor and found several pipe fittings around and near the furnace were loose. $129 later they were tightened up/fixed.
Only the HVAC unit itself is covered by the Favret annual maintenance contract. (Should have read the small print). But did these fittings shake loose since 4/22/22 when the Favret repair man performed periodic maintenance? Was there an earthquake here in Upper Arlington that I missed?. Not a happy FAVRET client Tom Harvey

There are different kinds of Christmas Miracles. Mine came from Favret Heating and Cooling this year. After a busy Christmas weekend I woke to a stone cold boiler. Favret had worked on a gas boiler at a previous home and installed my current gas boiler five years ago. I was worried about all the busyness of Monday morning but made the call. Susanna answered at 8:00 a.m. sharp and made it sound like all of the Favret company was waiting to take care of my problem.
I worried about how long into the week, or next, I would have to wait for an appointment. She simply said, "we'll have him call when he's on his way." I said, "wait, what day", she said, "today". Then, within and hour she called to see if they could come early rather than late. Of course. Twenty minutes later, Larry walked in and had my problem diagnosed almost immediately.
A safety feature had tripped a switch. Larry is a trained boiler engineer and explained to me in detail how I could make certain I could keep the problem from recurring. My boiler was fully functioning before Noon, a couple hours after I first discovered the problems. Now that is outstanding service from the Favret Company I have come to depend on and certainly a Christmas Miracle.

This review is being done at the request of my mother who had a heating and cooling system installed in June/July 2021. The techs from Favret were very professional, tidy, and kept her updated on every step of the installation process. Upon completion, the techs made sure that everything was in working order before accepting payment for the job. The issue/complaint comes in regarding the insulation wrap used on the Ac pipes.
It appears to be a very cheaply made material that is being held in place with duct tape instead of zip ties or some other clamping material or device. The ac unit also should have been placed closer to the structure to reduce the space between it and the house. Between that and the cheap white pipe wrap, that is secured with duct tape, it gives the entire project a gaudy appearance that resembles a child's first science project made with parts from the scrap yard.
The unit functions as intended, but has a Frankenstein appearance to it. This might be a petty complaint to some, but as the attached pictures will attest, it is not a meritless complaint. For a job costing just shy of $8K, one should expect a better looking finished product that isn't secured with duct tape and bubble gum.

Unbelievably bad service. Had a scheduled maintenance appointment for today between 12 & 4. Get a phone call that went to voicemail because I didn't have my phone on me from the tech (Matt) at 12:03 who says he can't come out until he makes contact with me & he will try back in 5 minutes. Of course, I didn't get that call either. At 12:15 I called the tech (Matt) back who is not answering his phone and get sent to his voicemail which is FULL. Clearly, Matt doesn't want to be working today (a Saturday) and made up this bogus contact issue.
Have had a service contract with Favret for 5 years now and not once has a tech pulled this. I had this time blocked off for this service to be done and I am furious with Favret for this poor customer service. Will be contacting the office on Monday to discuss this and cancel our service.

When I moved into my condo community in March 2017, I was not looking forward to finding all the technicians needed to maintain your appliances and the things that run the home. I was told by my new neighbors that everyone in the immediate group that Favret was the place I wanted to go for anything that was needed for that. I have been so impressed with each pf the techs that have come out to do regular maintenance and the 2 times there were issues they nwe on it quickly.
As today, my house was 87 degrees and Larry was able to come in the later afternoon and within the hour he had a part replaced, Which he had on his vehicle. He then finished with another issue and my condo is working it's way back to normal. He wa so genuine and I got the feeling he r really loved what he does. I couldn't think of another tech that have ever had do work for me that made me feel so relieved and calm. I would tell anyone who would listen that these people are the real deal! Thank you so much!

Called Favret to inspect and clean my Carrier furnace and AC. I asked the "technician" to make sure to clean the AC fan blades as well since they needed it. He told me that he didn't have condenser cleaner with him so I should go to Home Depot and clean the fan blades myself. Then he came back later and asked if we had bleach and dish soap he could use!
The service call was to CLEAN the AC unit (and furnace)! Also noticed that he never opened the AC unit to clean out the leaves and pine needles at the bottom. And instead of using the gate 3 ft away, he just walked through our bed of beautiful impatiens, ruining it! $240 bill for nothing. Never will use Favret again for anything.

If you are using Favret for maintenance, you'll be a paying a premium, but you'll likely get a competent technician, and quality service. However, I would NOT under any circumstances recommend Favret for the purchase/installation of ANY new equipment, if you value your money and a reasonable level of transparency with the companies you do business with.
I say this based on a recent interaction with a sales rep (who is one of the Favret family members). According to said sales rep, Favret will not break down installation costs into parts and labor. Meaning that, if you want to see THREE (3) simple numbers on your estimate, that look like this: Parts = X Labor = Y Total = X+Y Don't hold your breadth.
You won't get it. This is intentionally done to hide the extremely high markup they put on the parts they sell. I fully realize that entire nature of this industry is extremely anachronistic and shady, but some companies are willing to price gouge more than others. In the end, I used a Carrier certified competitor, and had the EXACT same unit installed for ~1,000 less than what Favret quoted. Furhermore, the sales rep gave me at least some semblance of the cost breakdown into parts and labor. My recommendation.steer clear of Favret unless you have no other option.

Larry Short was our technician who conducted our A/C check for the upcoming summer months. Larry was polite, efficient and completed the check promptly. Our family has been using Favret for over 30+ years and NEVER had a problem. Thank you for providing year round comfort to our families. Tim Tomesek

Our family has been using Favret since the 1960's. The company is wonderful. I always ask for Larry Short to be the technician that services our Furnace and Air Conditioner twice a year. I have requested him for years. He is easy to talk with, and has always been honest about what needs replaced or fixed immediately or what can wait a season or two.
We use to have a very complicated heating and cooling system at our house, Larry took the time to educate himself on the special nuances of that system. Last year we had Favret put a new system in for us. I'm sure anyone of their techs. could service our new system, but I still request Larry.

Our first experience with Favret, and were happy we chose to ask them to come out to evaluate our AC. It was not blowing cool air. Larry Short was very professional in assessing our HVAC and determined the appropriate remedy. Now we are waiting for estimate for work that needs done to correct the air conditioning problem, which I feel confident that Favret will be able to do in a reasonably priced and competent manner. Good job Larry, and nice to be working with an excellent company like Favret!

Had a great experience with Favret. Our air conditioning was not cooling right called Favret around 3 pm to get service. They offered same day service, and the tech (Ed) arrived about an hour later. He quickly determined the issue, and promptly replaced the capacitor. Air worked immediately, and house cooled to normal within a few hours. Great service, !

We were charged $150 for a service maintenance that could not be performed. We bought a new home, and didn't realize that our furnace was installed incorrectly. Favret's technician looked at our furnace, performed no maintenance or work, and gave us a bill for $150. The technician was at our house for less than 5 minutes. We went through the process of having Favret quote a reinstall of our existing furnace.
To their benefit, it is amazing that they were willing to perform this service instead of demanding to install a new furnace. We considered letting Favret perform this service, because we had already paid them $150 with absolutely no maintenance or service performed. We found another company that was able to reinstall the furnace correctly for $600 less than Favret's quote.
We then asked Favret to apply some portion of the $150 already paid to them for absolutely no work done to a future service call that they could be able to perform. They met this request with a defensive attitude, and hung up on me after I asked them to reconsider applying any portion to a future bill. We were even offered the current promotion for service which is a better price than anything I would have accepted as a fair application of any portion of the $150 that we were billed even though no work or service was performed.
There is an ethical principle that needs to be addressed here. A company should not exploit their customer's situations, and demand full payment for work that cannot be performed. Instead of being a caring and understanding company, Favret was an unwelcoming, exploitive heating and cooling service provider. I would gladly pay $150 again for service unperformed, so that I could get the opportunity to warn my neighbors about Favret's business practices in case someone can't afford $150 for service not performed.

We always get the best service on our furnace and heat pump. We believe that Favret has kept our aging equipment going for years more than they should have been alive! And when they no longer work - you know we will be getting new stuff through our favorite heating and cooling company. We have been loyal customers for about 30 years. Thanks, Favret!

My name is Emily Guthrie and we have been using Favret since we bought our home in 2017. The previous owners had been using Favret for service to the HVAC for 10 years previous to that! Always prompt service and so courteous! We also had a salesman out and the salesman was so low pressure, it made us feel comfortable. We will continue to use Favret into the future

My furnace stopped working and I called Favret. Two gentlemen came out and told me my Carrier furnace was too old, had a bad board and ignition electrode was bad. Told me it would be over $1000 to repair and advised me to replace it with a new Carrier for $3500 plus instillation. Cost for 1/2 hr: $156 for the "service" call. They put me in touch with one of their salesmen who confirmed that indeed a new furnace would cost me $3500 plus. Fortunately, I was able to contact a competent furnace repair person who had my furnace back on in 1/2 hour.
The board was bad (cost $54). My furnace man said my Carrier is a very durable one and doesn't need replacing. I have had it with companies that simply try to sell you a new product when a repair would be fine. Needless to say, I will not do business with Favret or recomment them to anyone. One star is too many for these shysters! Don D.

One thing that my neighbors told me about Favret Heating and Cooling was, "Oh, they're very expensive!" You might think so, until you try the other guys. The other guys taped some sheet metal to the wall and called it ductwork. The other guys used my electrical wires as load-bearing elements to hold up the ducts. The other guys didn't even bother to connect some of the ducts, so that the heated air just dumped right out into the basement.
The other guys installed a heat pump wall unit and denied that there was any problem when I called them out 3 separate times. When I called Favret, they found the issue within 15 minutes: there was a leak in the refrigerant loop and there wasn't a drop of refrigerant left in it. So, it's safe to say that after about a month of freezing my butt off waiting for the other guys to come fix their work, I was thrilled that Favret got me an estimate and was out here within a week to fix it.
Now my house is toasty warm and I couldn't be happier. I'd also like to point out that Favret makes their own ductwork at their own metal shop in-house, so it looks great and is a spot-on fit, and the Favret techs even made runs work that my general contractor said were "impossible." The techs were punctual, respectful, and helped me make informed decisions regarding the locations of sensors and new returns. So, were they expensive?
My neighbors seem to think so, but the truth is that compared to having to wear a winter coat in my own home, wasting money dumping heat into unwanted areas, and having fire hazards, I think their work is a pretty good deal. I wish I'd just called Favret in the first place instead of trying to save a few bucks by hiring The Three Stooges to set up my HVAC.

We have always received great service before. However this time I was told there was water damage to the furnace. The technician said we needed a new furnace I did not understand why the technician said this when there wasn't that much water on the floor. It was like someone just spiled a cup of water on the floor and the motor is about a foot off of the floor.
So I called a family friend and he replaced the igniter and now it works just fine. I called to complain and the supervisor in charge acted like I was a silly women and needed to leave these kind of problems to the men who knew what the the real problem was. I was told the technician wrote on the work order water damage and so I needed to accept that was the problem. The supervisor told me to have a nice day and then he hung up the phone. Needless to say we will not be using this company again.

I have used Favret since 1990 when they replaced my furnace. I have a service contract with them and can ask for the same service man - Jim. He checks my furnace and A/C in the spring and fall and wouldn't have any other company. Everyone I've had any contact with in the company has been courteous and very attentive to any problems I may have, which are very few. They give excellent service. Thank you, Favret!

They replaced our old system with a hybrid (gas furnace plus heat pump/ac) system several years ago. They fixed a design problem in the AC drainage resulting from the install. Since then we've been getting the semiannual inspections and tuneups and they've kept things working in tip-top shape. Once the heat pump threw a fault from trying to run in too cold an atmosphere -- the thermostat was in the sun. Favret fine-tuned the switchover point from gas to heat pump and no more problems! In short, excellent service!

We have had a service contract with this company for 5 years after a referral from our realtor. The first couple of years was not bad - but we never really needed anything beyond the routine service appointment. Then, they stopped calling to make the appointments (so we paid for but did not get a few of the routine maintenance services that were paid for. Then, somehow our agreement lapsed.
We had an issue, and when I called - I was not told that our agreement had lapsed. They simply sent out a tech and then tried to bill me the full price. For some odd reason, I continued to do business with them. Today, we had another issue. The service tech came, fiddled around for an hour before telling me that I needed 600 dollars worth of parts plus labor, oh and I owed him 180$ for the labor of the last hour.
At no point did the scheduler or the technician tell me that the labor was not included with our service contract. In addition to the dishonesty (or at the very nicest, non-disclosure) about when labor will be billed, there was an almost 150% markup on the parts they were offering over what is available at Home Depot. I have 6 months remaining on my contract, and I will never let one of their employees into my house ever again.

An AC unit was installed in December of 2014 at my house by Favret. The unit broke in August 2016. Favret charged me $64 for a dye pack to confirm that it broke even though the unit is covered under a 5 year warranty. The technician told me that his manager would call me to discuss the bill the following day. His manager never called. I received a bill a couple weeks later.
I called the manager and left a message. My message was never returned. I received a past due bill weeks later. I called again and two days later the manager called me back and informed me that the dye pack was not covered under the warranty. Installing an AC unit that breaks less than 2 years later then not covering all the costs. Not returning phone calls. I will not be using Favret again.

I have an annual service agreement for our HVAC with Favret and have always received prompt and professional service. I noticed on Monday that our AC was not working well and called the office at 5:30.they offered to get a tech out that evening but I was fine with waiting until the next morning as the tech was across town. Rick was very thorough in examining our system, found the problem quickly and worked hard to resolve it for us in a timely manner.
He also took the time to explain what was wrong, what I could do to prevent further problems, and even cleaned up a few other issues with the system while he was here. Fast response, professional, knowledgable and helpful service!

I had a valve for the gas turned off in a building I was not familiar with. Nothing wrong except a valve needed turned on, The bill was over $300. I also needed a new furnace filter which he didn't have even though it was a common size. If you are going to bill out like that you should come prepared with filters in common sizes. I guess that would cost $800 John

Technician came out to change filters and do an overall systems check. Technician was adamant that our refrigerant was leaking out of one of our units and that it would cost over $2,000 to repair. I called another company to get a second opinion. Nothing wrong! Favret had another technician come out and said that the initial technician was using the wrong gauge and that everyone makes mistakes.
I called the manager and said that if they stand by their work, they should pay for my bill from the other company since they originally misdiagnosed the problem that wasn't even there! He declined to make the situation right. I won't be using them anymore! Terrible service!

Called them to come check out furnace, replace the air filter and possible move the thermostat. We recently bought our house. It has a furnace in the attic that is not readily accessible and a thermostat in a guest bedroom. Technician shows up and tells my wife to go buy an air filter! He is insistent and she does. When she comes back 30min later he gets out of his car and looks at the furnace and changes the filter.
He then states it will costs "thousand and thousands of dollars" to change the location of the thermostat. My wife asks for an estimate. And he does not give her one. He bills us for 75 min of work (30 of which were my wife going to buy the air filter). I called the office to complain and I receive an indifferent and dismissive answer. We will NEVER use this company again. Totally unprofessional.
He then states it will costs "thousand and thousands of dollars" to change the location of the thermostat. My wife asks for an estimate. And he does not give her one. We have used Favret at our home for many years. Called them last night and left a message for service. They called first thing this morning, had a technician at the house within an hour. He immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. Their Service Agreement program is without a doubt the best in the business. They have never done more than needed or ever tried to "upsell" anything. As honest a company as you will ever find.

After a communication snafu the previous day with another tech, the service office sent Jim 'the old guy' per him, as the first am call. He came out to service and repair our ac. He was prompt and efficient, fixed the issue in less then 30 minutes. He is truly an asset to FARVET, and truly seems to enjoy his work! Great experience overall.

I highly recommend Favret Heating and Cooling. Over the years I have used other companies for repairs or replacement of a furnace and AC thinking I was saving money by using a coupon or promotional discount or the company that the prior owner of the house used--WRONG! Other companies (3 total) overcharged, sold me an inadequate product for my need or did shoddy installation, service or repairs.
I hired fired to replace my furnace and my AC over the past 16 months and rec'd EXCELLENT service from start to finish. In addition, Favret provided energy credit statements for income tax purposes that others were either unaware or failed to provide. They are not the least expensive, but in the long run, I could not be more pleased with the energy savings, quality of installation and service and warranty. I highly recommend Favret.
