On April 15th, I hired Stan's to perform a cooling tune-up on two of our AC units. While the above issues may not have contributed directly to the current problem, the problem exists. Two key issues with the service on 4/15: 1. Following the appointment, I looked closely at the condenser units and noticed, while the unit is easily accessible and located 10' from a functioning water hose, the coils did not get cleaned (noticeable debris buildup, dog hair (maybe), etc.). 2.
The tech checked the capacitors by removing screws (~4-6) holding the access panel, but he did not put all the screws back in place to secure the housing. Eventually, I suspect this may lead to issues with the unit, rattling, etc. Yesterday, Saturday, 6/25, at 1:20 PM, our AC stopped blowing cold air. Now, 24hrs later, we are still without AC. Again, the above issues may not have contributed directly to the current problem; however, it reminded me of the incomplete job. I called Stans yesterday and was told the soonest appt is Tuesday, 6/28.

For the actual Stan's review, skip to the last paragraph. We bought an entirely new system from another company, All Year, 5 years ago. This February, we got an error code on the thermostat and the AC shuts down. Tech from All Year comes out, says it was probably a storm, resets it. I argued that didn't seem right, but he said he's the pro, that'll be $90. Mid May, same code, same problem.
Another tech from All Year comes out. resets the AC, says he found a lizard that must have caused a short. Or maybe it's the wi-fi. huh?! I mentioned it's the exact code as last time. He says he's the pro. June, same problem. Another tech from All Year comes out, can't figure it out, says "it's late, schedule a service call tomorrow." I schedule the service call, wait all day for the tech, they cancel at 4:00 pm and say next available is next week.
At this point we're without AC for a couple months all total. We bought a couple of window units. Our mistake was trying to stick with the company who installed it. Used to be a great company but now different employees, different owners, they just kept the company name. A friend recommends Stan's. There's businesses that change this is one of the businesses that changed for the worst do not call these people for any reason. When I called in I was waiting for I was waiting for a technician at 11 PM never showed up I called several times finally they had somebody come out the following morning after almost having a heart attack from all of the heat that we've been having high heat in Texas, I felt this was very wrong of them to lie to me and say they were on the way which they were not' don't bother to call after hours they're not going to help you, they dont care.
As I was the fool waiting around for these people to show they showed no remorse that my part was under warranty and they still charged me $300 to install a battery that took no time how long it took this guy to put it in there 10 minutes no joke he left without checking to see if it was gonna cool down he ran off too make matters worse he quoted me how must to fix the problem which was 95.00 I ok'ed the repair when finished he said its 295.00 and it's under warranty, guess what it didn't do anything it would still do in the same thing that's what I say poor service, poor quality, horrible customer service. not knowing what they're doing run don't have anything to do with these people I will never call them backup again.i rather find a good air conditioning company that is honest good guys instead of guys that lie dishonesty. I make take this to better business bureau!

We have used Stan's for both our AC and plumbing needs. We recently purchased a new water heater. I compared their estimate to other companies and they offered by far the best quality and best price. We also have our AC maintenance contract with them, because they are reliable and will come to our home ASAP if needed.

AC stopped working on Friday morning. Decided on Stan's because of their great reviews. Husband called Stan's for an emergency service call, which the earliest available was Saturday between 12-4pm. It's 102 outside, but we know we know lots of people are having issues right now, so ok. No problem. Saturday comes around, noon, 1, 2, 3. no communication yet.
Finally at 4:10pm, we get a text that our service technician (leaving the name off for politeness) with a rating of 4.95/5.0 is on his way to our address. the address listed was correct, by the way. At 4:45 we texted back that we hadn't seen anyone yet, and got crickets. At 6 something pm we called asking what was going on, and they took a message. something about someone getting back to us. Oh, we also received a text asking for us to leave a review of our service. Ummmmmm. seriously? Well, it's now Sunday morning and looking like another 100+ degree day is on tap.
I called the emergency service number again this morning and spoke to a nice woman who could see all of the communications we had initiated and was very apologetic, that she would escalate the issues. Also, just to be clear, we have been super polite and understanding throughout every attempt at communication - and I know that isn't the norm.
We know we aren't the center of the known universe and all, but honestly, no-shows are a major bummer and seriously unprofessional. They could at least have called us to reschedule. Wish I could say we had a good experience. Maybe that will change if someone actually calls us back, in which case I'll happily revise the review. However, at this point, I have nothing favorable to say. If you need emergency AC work, at this point I would recommend you keep looking and find another company.

I called Stan's for a quote on a new HVAC. The representative they sent, John, was rude, unprofessional and very disrespectful. Additionally, when he provided the quote, it was not what I asked for, and when I asked for an explanation, he just argued and acted like a jerk. Avoid this company, they do not treat their customers appropriately and their representatives are very disrespectful.

Johnny, Julian and Collin did a terrific job with the plumbing on our house. Installed new PEX pipe and replaced our 75yo cast iron pipe/sewer lines. Also did a new tankless water heater which works great, big upgrade. Workmanship and quality were excellent! Had a technician come out this past Sunday because our AC went out. He poked around for a bit outside went up in the attic to look at the coil. He told us we needed a new coil or a new system. That it didn't pay to put Freon in cause it's just running straight out. Recommended a professional sales guy to come out and give us a quote and that they would get back to me the next day.
I called the next day and have the sales guy comes out, he also pokes around and goes up in the attic. Then tells us that a new system for our upstairs unit would be 9K as he recommended replacement of everything. Called another company to come out and that tech was here about 30 minutes and found the actual problem. We had a new roof installed and someone nailed thru the pvc pipe.
He soldered the hole and fixed the issue. With new Freon cost me $800 for the fix. He also said our coil was under warranty because it was from 2018, that if we had replaced the coil or system it wouldn't have fixed the issue at all because they weren't going to replace the pipes. Stan's seems to be only out for unnecessary sales versus figuring out the issue. "Michelle" with the dude picture, it's in my husbands name Randy Ortiz. Your technician Landon Allgood emailed me the quote and there's two job numbers on it.

Stan's replaced our A/C system. They explained the work that is needed and what was done. They arrived early on the day of installation and cleaned up nicely. Stan's did not pressure us on a high end system. They provided us with options and explained each. They were thorough and professional. I'm glad we chose them after getting estimates from several others. I recommend Stan's highly.

UPDATE After speaking to a manager, he was quick to understand my frustration. He agreed that the technician should have been able to look further into the wiring issue on the thermostat. He refunded the charge and thanked me for the feedback so they could make improvements on their end of the service. I appreciated the great costumer service to make this right. I was able to find another company to fix the thermostat and I'm enjoying my AC again!

I've been in Austin 17 years and have hand many different A/C companies out to my properties. Stan's Heating and Air is a different bread. Marshall was my technician last out from Stan's, and in all my years he was the best technician I've seen. Not only did Marshall do the most thorough inspection I've seen. He was extremely professional and helped to no end when he explained the issues I was having. The problem was just more ac refrigerant and possible the coils being covered in debris. The last two guys from Stans missed this. I can't thank Marshall enough!

Extremely impressed with Abraham and his assistant. They were both very knowledgeable and fixed our ac issue quickly. Abraham took the time to explain exactly what they did and also suggested recommended routine maintenance on both ac units. Extremely pleased and would highly recommend both of these techs as well as Stan's Heating and Air Conditioning.

I give them two stars for being responsive. But their pricing is simply not competitive. Also their services did not meet my needs as I was asking for things related to a remodel as well as a quote for normal service. And it seems strange that they would install a tankless water heater but refused to Accommodate replacing my toilet and moving the waste drain line.
I also needed to replace the sink with the New supply lines and a faucet, But they wouldn't even give me a quote. I also asked them to give me a quote to replace my Shower faucet mechanism as it has been corroded Do the mineral deposits. Again, no quote was provided. Lastly, they showed me a quote for the tankless water heater and then they said they sent the email but I've never received it.
I asked if they would price match and they couldn't confirm they would or wouldn't. I asked if I could choose my own tankless water heater as theirs seemed to be a bit pricey ($7K), and that was a negative. They also mentioned I'd have to get an electrician to install power prior to the job, as that wasn't part of their work. I consider this company to simply be predatory.

As an update to this review, I have been trying to call Michelle E. at the number listed in her comment for a week and a half with no response to my several voicemails. Stan's no showed me for the appointment I had set with them last week (5th appointment overall for the same issue). A supervisor was supposed to call me back today and again, I've received no response. It's truly disgraceful at this point.

Christopher called to relay he could come earlier than expected- which is nice to not be surprised and much welcome over companies that never call ahead of time. He clearly communicated what the cost structure would be before preforming any evaluation and he let me know the next steps to getting our system repaired. Good service. So I've been using Stan's for many years now, from installing a new big heat-pump, to simple maintenance, but this is my first review. It is overdue. Stan's is the model that other service companies should follow. They always communicate. They always come when they say they are going to. They always do great work when they are here. I called Stan's to get an AC unit fixed and serviced. A competitor told me the unit would have to be replaced, but I strongly suspected it was just a wiring issue. Sure enough, Michael Waters, my tech, fixed a lose wire and assured me I didn't need a new AC unit. Honesty and good work are important to me. I got it from Stan's. I'd strongly suggest asking for Michael Waters as your technician. He's prompt, smart, kind, and honest. He was nice to my wife too. Overall the best experience with an AC tech ever.

Stan's provided ease of scheduling convenient for us. Jeremy was very professional, knowledgeable and on time. He took the initiative to contact us to notify us that he was on his way. Jeremy let us know what he was there for, showed credentials and asked where the 3 portions of the inspection were located. Prior to entering our home he placed protective coverings over his shoes. Jeremy then inspected the unit in the attic and the heat pump outside.

I received a written estimate from Stans to replacing my air handler. The salesman called me back several days later and said the price had increased by $1200.00. Stans was significantly higher than the other contractors I contacted. I ended up using Lakeway AC & Heating who did a great job and billed me $3200.00,e xactly what their estimate was. This is second time I posted this review, for some reason it was removed.
I received a response from Stans saying the additional expense was for a different unit. Not true, the attached invoice was increased from $4499.00 to $5700.00, same equipment. Scroll to find Sage's review on 02/21/2022. This is what he said: "Quoted one thing, then at time of service $1300 surprise charge. Did not go with Stan's but surprised by this even with quote in writing/email.".

Angel responded to my online Yelp request very quickly and we were able to arrange everything through messaging and quickly too! He went above and beyond by informing me that my AC problem was under warranty. I didn't even know and would have paid. Efrain was the technician. He was here on time and was able to come the next day. He was professional and courteous and solved our problem quickly.

Abraham called to ask if he could come earlier than scheduled which suited me just fine. Upon arrival he introduced himself and the trainee (I'm sorry but I can't remember his name). Both were wearing masks. They were very professional and friendly. Abraham explained what he was doing while doing it. He explained to me about a part I needed, he checked that I had installed the filter correctly (I wasn't sure), and answered several other questions. Hopefully, the person(s) who come tomorrow to check my hot water heater will be every bit as nice, professional and helpful. I will definitely use Stan's HA&P again and I will recommend them to neighbors.

I remain very satisfied with STAN's who designed and installed a very good Carrier HVAC system nearly two years ago. I schedule my semi-annual maintenance months ahead and the technicians are very thorough. Got to change those filters to get the most of the system! This week, a register needed some tweaking and they took care of it quickly and to my total satisfaction. Jagger and Tyler were the techs.

Stan's contacted me after my first review with apologies and a determination to correct the issue. Unfortunately we were already out of town and had to leave the house with no heat or AC for another 5 days. They did book an appointment immediately after our return on New Year's Eve and I was very grateful for that. We aren't sure as to what the original issue actually was.
A thermostat was replaced, which I'm guessing was the cause, and the first technician was correct in his diagnosis. When I installed it I think I may have configured it incorrectly, thinking we had a heat pump. The second guy should have figured this out quickly and billed me for setting up my thermostat, but unfortunately he didn't seem to know what he was doing, couldn't confirm thermostat settings even with the manual, and was on the phone with someone trying to diagnose an issue with the zone board. He's the one that said we needed the zone board replaced, which was going to be a hefty price tag.
After the mix-up and delay, Stan's offered a discount on the board and made sure we were seen immediately after our return. Today Andrew Page showed up, and he clearly knew exactly what he was doing. He quickly replaced the board, per his work order, but discovered the issue actually came back to an improperly configured thermostat. I don't think he wanted to suggest that I did something wrong or that they did something wrong (I think both were true), and after a few minutes on the phone the work was comped in good faith and fair service.
I was extremely appreciative and apologetic for him having to come out on a holiday, and he was incredibly polite and accommodating. I'm updating my review to 5 stars for their willingness to correct the problem and the fact that they comped the possibly unnecessary work. There was the hiccup in the middle with leaving us hanging waiting on a part over the holiday, which is on them, but they made it right and deserve full credit for that. We received exceptional service from both Price Taggart and Daniel Espinoza of Stan's Heating and Air this month. Our heater went out over a weekend while a cold front was blowing in. Daniel provided service on a Sunday evening and although he had to give us the bad news that our fan motor had gone out and must be ordered, he provided detailed and accurate information about how the process of ordering and delivering the part would work.
Price provided service twice after that as Stan's worked to get the part installed. Both young men have excellent "people skills" and, equally important, know how to take care of their customers. We would also like to praise Steve in the Parts Department. He worked diligently and professionally to get the correct part delivered and communicated well throughout the entire process. Great Work!

Prompt, responsive as far as scheduling goes and then showed up not just on time but early! Ended up being a simple fix to AC outage but I'm clueless as a homeowner. The tech educated me about what happened and reasons why, then checked a few more things after fixing just to be sure. 10/10, 5/5 for google Service: AC maintenance

I wanted to appreciate the time our technician, Austin McGuire, took to help us with an ongoing heating issue. Austin was not only able to diagnose the issue at hand, He was able to teach me to better solve issues that arise in the future. Being as experienced and as passionate as he is, he was also able to delve into the science of how these systems function.
I was also able to take away valuable nuggets of information regarding the upkeep and lifespan of our unit. Other than that, he was punctual and an overall delight to learn from.

Had used Stan's in January and they sent a tech and apprentice they did great work. That's all changed now. We had a problem on the weekend and they charge an extra $150 plus whatever needs to be done. Told tech I used Drano to try to free clog and he said I shouldn't have done that because he couldn't use some tool and he would burn his skin. I had been plunging in the sink and no burns on me.
So he states, "Do you want me or not?" Told him to go ahead and come over. After hanging up phone I felt buffaloed. Called back to tell him not to come over. No response. He comes over anyway. He looks like a wannabe gang member wearing a bandana like he was going to do a home invasion. I ask him about his sensitive tools and skin and why he wouldn't call back.
He starts rolling his eyes. Told him to leave. He wasn't getting in on looks alone. Then the clown wanted $150 for doing NOTHING. Called and left complaints and asked for a manager or owner to call me. Nothing. Lesson is there are plenty of plumbers. Don't need the ones that advertise all day long and are not worth a $hit.

Excellent responsiveness and service! Reached out to Stan's the day after Thanksgiving and they replied quickly and were able to set up an appointment for me within two hours of calling. The service tech Joshua was skilled and quickly solved the issue and also conducted a basic "tuneup" to ensure the system was running efficiently. Would highly recommend Stan's for your AC and heating systems!

Service with an attitude. They don't show up when they scheduled a time frame of several hours. They would have you wait 4 hours for them, yet they arrive whenever they want. They don't do what is asked at the beginning. They make up excuses and want to reschedule and put you out another day of waiting for them. Then if you insist they finish on the same day, they charge you extra, as if they are doing you some great service. Too many other companies! Go elsewhere!

I was really impressed. After making the appointment this morning, the tech arrived not even an hour later. He Immediately identified the problem, replaced the popped compressor with a new, upgraded version and off he went. My AC is running perfectly now. I think $89 for a home visit is reasonable and considering he arrived within an hour, I know Stan's will be my go-to provider from now on.

We were referred to Stan's by a neighbor. The best part of their business is the quick service/quick communication. The worst part is that they attempted to hastily suggest that we needed "the entire inside and outside AC units" replaced for a very small fix. The inside unit is quite new and not exhibiting unusual wear and tear. The technician and the project manager both came across as hasty, sales-y and condescending --- as I was asking probing language about replacing parts versus the entire unit, started wielding technical language and even saying, "it's too complicated to explain."

We started looking for a company to replace the A/C in our house in June and July 2020. After getting 4 companies out to make their proposals and estimates we signed a contract in August 2020 with Stan's to install a new 2-zone mini split system. Excited to get our new system installed we went ahead at the project manager's advice to spend several hundred dollars in September to install a new circuit and electric drop required for the installation. September came and went and our projected appointment for installation came and went with no communication from the project manager or anyone at Stan's.
According to my records, we called and emailed at least once a month through March 2021 to find out what's going on and when we'd be installed. We were given several variations of "we can't can't get this" or "we can't get that" until they finally settled on, "we can't get any of the units" required for the job. I was told that the ones that they did have for us they used on other jobs in the meantime, leaving none for us.
Our last communication was from Stan's saying, "I'll let you know as soon as we have an eta." And. wow still haven't heard from them and are out just under $400 for the electric work that is sitting unused. On the plus side, Go Green installed our new A/C for just about the same as it would have cost (and without extra cost for the new electric drop) if Stan's actually procured the equipment and did the job.
These guys might be competent plumbers and electricians, but they are terrible salesmen and communicators. I'm seriously still waiting for them to tell me what's going on. And, since they decided not to communicate with me, I haven't bothered to tell them I found anyone else to do the job they were supposed to do. Well. I guess they'll know when they read this.

This saga doesn't seem to want to end with this company. They came back out to fix some outside things, still not done completely right. Attaching photos. maybe my expectations for their work are just too high but after the plumbers left yesterday there is still a hole around the outside spigot and rocks that I am assuming were supposed to go back in the hole have been left out.
I guess whatever for the outside at this point but having a hole in my masonry is disconcerting. Is someone coming back out again to patch the drywall as well because honestly it seems like they all drilled into that part of the house for no reason with the leak being elsewhere the first day.

It's the lack of communication for me. I had an appointment scheduled from 12-4 on a Saturday. I FULLY understand the tech needs to finish the job prior to me before making it to my appointment. However, there was zero communication in regards to an updated ETA. I would imagine that the tech knows how long the job ahead of me will take and can update the office accordingly so they can update me.
I sat around waiting and when I called to ask about an update they were clueless. An hour and a half after my 4pm deadline, I finally gave up and found someone else. Not to mention the girl at the office who I spoke to was pretty condescending. She also lied and said she had left a voicemail for me with an update, but no such thing took place. I wouldn't have minded waiting if I had been given updates throughout my 12-4 window so I could have gone on with my day in the interim.

Like all service related businesses, you are at the mercy of the representative that is sent to your house. Stan's is no different. We recently had a great experience with Jesse Crawford. He went through the entire system and told our airflow was our problem. We were actually using too restrictive of an air filter. It caused the AC to work too hard. Note: there is a trade-off with air filter restriction.
The trade-off is, your humidity is lower in the house with a restrictive filter, without a restrictive filter, humidity will remain high. There is a fine line with getting the right air filtration and humidity in any home. That is but one bain of an AC Technicians existence. Stan's is the quickest service calls we have ever had. The are consistently fast to a service call. I highly recommend Stan's if you get Jesse Crawford as your AC technician.

My air conditioner quit cooling. It was August in Austin. HOT! Stan's man was out the day after my call, on time, and replaced the capacitor in the outside unit. He also checked the coolant and topped it off. Done in less than an hour. The price was reasonable. I'll call them next time there's a problem.

Stan's Heating, Air & Plumbing was one of the quickest responses we got on Yelp. They were able to find time within 72 hrs and showed up in the window they communicated. Javier, our plumber, was fantastic. He explained everything in detail and gave us several options to decide from. He was very polite and professional. Will definitely call Stan's next time we need any plumbing.

I used this service to see if my split unit had an order and how to treat it. They came the next morning which was great. The gentleman who service the unit was friendly and helpful. I felt I was overcharged quite a bit for what he did but Michelle the manager was receptive to my debate and refunded me a little money. Really great customer service!

Thank you, Gabe and Roland! Y'all came out in the rain today to address the issues with my new HVAC. Well, the issues surrounding the Carrier HVAC because that baby works beautifully. One thing I had reported as an issue on the outside operation can't be fixed until the rain stops, which is fine with me. It's a long term issue, not something that affects the AC. I wouldn't let anyone back there now to work on it & risk electrocution. Thank you for listening to & addressing my "punch" list.

Update: Stan's sent someone out and repaired the issue. I also received a follow up call from the customer service manager. He was very helpful and genuine and wanted to make things right. We will recieve a year of Stan's Goldstar service for free to ensure the unit has no more problems. I appreciate Stans's making an effort to fix the problem.
We chose Stan's to purchase a new air conditioning unit because we were impressed with the proposal provided. They completed installation of the unit on a Friday at 3:00pm and by 8:00pm that same day, water was streaming through our kitchen ceiling. They sent out emergency service and fixed the problem that night. It was a problem with the way they installed a drain.
Two weeks later their inspector came out. He took some pictures and said it passed. The next day, the air conditioning unit broke again. Be wary of this company and the skill of their installers. We paid $11,500 for a new unit that has broken twice in its first month. We made a mistake choosing Stan's.

I called Stan's during the Polar Blast and told them my water heater was out and I would like to A get it turned back on and B get it drained and serviced. The person took my call and told me I would receive a call back from a technician about this, all I can say is good thing I did not hold my breath, I never received a call back. Not being to comfortable with it I had a bad experience lighting a pilot years ago, I managed to light my own pilot, and I will contact another company to get the water heater serviced possibly replaced.

Had a crew come out and fix some busted pipes from the freeze. Scheduled 3 weeks out which is very understandable. The crew repaired the cold water lines but did not repair the the hot. When finished, the shower didn't have any water, cold or hot. Tried to ask the crew some questions but they said they needed to get to a big job and ran off after payment.
For the cost, they could have at least checked to see if it was fixed. The negative review is for the company's service. When trying to explain that the job was not done. I kept getting transferred to an answering machine. Left messages and no call back. Finally, after a week, I got a real person to schedule something, which is for another week out. Now going to be over a month without water.

I've used them on four occasions now. 3 yearly tune-ups in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Also at our business. They saved the day at the business when another vendor got it wrong. Always reasonably priced, friendly, done right and with a sense of urgency. Tory has done great for us this year and it seems like he really cares.

I had been using another local company for a number of years, but had a terrible experience (you can see my review!) and somehow found Texas A/C Specialist back in 2010 or so. They came out to assess no heat, and also suggested we replace the AC in addition to the furnace. They gave us what I'm sure were solid reasons, but we were renting the place, and chose not to do the extra work.

We were impressed and grateful for Texas Air Conditioning Specialist! We were having problems with our A/C last Saturday night. They were able to come out to our house on a Saturday night at 9pm! (during a UT football game) The needed part was replaced and our A/C was fixed in no time for a reasonable price. We would definitely use them again.

I called TACS and got a quote from them after calling several other HVAC companies. They offered me the best price and came out the next day. The best part is they didn't charge me a dollar more! Installation was quick and painless leaving me with a cool 70ยบ to chill in! Hoooray Texas Air Conditioning Specialist.
