We observed a leak in our attic unit (water coming through the ceiling) and self-diagnosed it (thanks youtube) as a plugged line. We also noticed that the A/C system would not cool properly by the end of a hot day (we live in Austin, TX) so chose A-Plus based on it being a local family-owned business. We called on Memorial Day Friday (long weekend) and they dispatched a technician by 9AM on Saturday. Joseph did a great job properly diagnosing the issue (turns out was not a plugged line) and correcting it.
He was prompt, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. In short order he had the system back in operation and educated us on the type of systems we had and how to best use them. Overall a great experience and we would recommend them to others needing A/C or heating support.

Kevin (handyman) was very professional and knowledgeable. I had a number of "honey do" items for him and he finished all of them, and then some that weren't on my original list, in the time allotted. He did the jobs in the priority that I had them listed, explaining as he went along, advising on some other items that I plan to address myself and had questions about.
My two small grandsons were enthralled with everything he was doing, asking questions the whole time as they love to "build" things. Kevin was very patient with them, answered their questions, and let them watch him work. Kevin is a hard worker. He used the best methods available to complete my projects so that they were done correctly and would last. I would definitely hire A-Plus and Kevin again!

I used A plus for Handyman service for the second time. Kevin was on time and he was very professional. He installed our cameras, address numbers, cabinet, food grinder, screen door, mounted tv, repaired faucet, doors, and more. He is capable of doing lots of things. He is the guy who knows what he is doing. Also, Stacey was very friendly and flexible with scheduling. I am very satisfied with their service! I will definitely use them again!

Aplus was so quick at sending someone to my house due to the gas leakage. I highly recommend them and will definitely use their work and refer them. The contractor Andrew they sent was so helpful and professional. He was so patient and waited until the gas company to arrive so they can fix the issue.

In this most recent engagement, I can specifically say that Greg and Andee were great to work with, and they answered every question we had. Most helpful, and courteous. The 2 technicians who installed the new system were also very professional and courteous but I don't remember their names.

I asked this company to clear the line out of my wine cellar cooling unit. I knew exactly what needed to be done and I told them. They charged me a diagnostic charge of approximately $70. I was told by David, an employee that is how they make money. I have used this company to replace several of my AC units. Estimated to be approximately $20,000. I will never use them again. In my opinion the diagnostic charge is not warranted when the customer already knows what needs to be done.

I am very thankful to Andee and Greg of A-plus. They stepped in during one of our toughest time when both of our AC units broke in the middle of harsh summer. They were courteous and professional in terms of their commitments and communications. Andee went out of her way to help us out with portable AC units while we were waiting on our AC replacement.

I've used A+ for years for my home and a rental property I manage. They are always very quick to respond and able to get out to a house quickly. We had an old unit that finally needed replacing and A+ made the whole experience a breeze. Everyone was great to work with, they kept me informed every step of the way, installation was seamless, and now we have a nice brand new unit in for the summer. Can't recommend them enough!

This is how a business should be run. They make sure they provide full value for your money. There is no dragging out the time necessary for a repair in order to duck or inflate costs for additional work that needs to be performed. Frankly, I was unprepared for everything they can do. I recommend that if you decide to use A-Plus for a repair that you first tour your house and write a list of any maintenance items you need performed.
That way, if they are finishing items faster than you expected, you can get full value for your money for their minimum 4 hour job time period. Kevin was the person who came to our house and he was impressive. First we had him work on fixing loose fence posts and adjusting the gates into the backyard which had become difficult to open. While working on this he took the initiative to check the outdoor vent from our dryer and cleaned that for us.
As we realized we had someone who was skilled, and willing to give full value for the amount charged, we had him clean out and adjust three locks on our front and back doors, adjust a doorbell that had stopped working, and hang a shutter that had fallen down. We still had time left over. Due to the skill and work ethic of Kevin, I have decided to use him for some future repairs to my home. Overall, I am very impressed with this business. From, my first experience it seems to have old-fashioned values of providing full value for your money despite the rush-rush ethic of modern society. I will post a future review to highlight how my additional home repairs go.

I have used A-Plus many times for both my own house and now my father's.they always take very good care of me and my jobs are all done to such high level of finish. Kevin has done wood projects, Nemecio did construction in my bathroom and my dad's laundry closet and Edward did the construction, painting, tile and finishings in my dad's laundry closet.every one of these guys not only does the job they came to do but also makes excellent suggestions, if they see a way it could be done better.and Leighann in the office is wonderful to deal with too. A-Plus, from Josh's initial visit, to payment with Leighann, is a pleasure and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My AC went out. They came out the next day to give me a quote. Although I didn't use them, both their customer service and the guy who came out were very nice and knowledgeable. The only issue was they are a Lennox dealer and I wanted Trane. He was very honest and said if you want Trane, then there are other dealers that can be better deals than they can. But if you have Lennox, this is the company I recommend.

I have to say that this company does respond to your immediate needs especially when your A/C goes out. The staff is great and friendly. The service call at $94.00 is also reasonable but the parts are marked way up. Example: for the exact same product, name brand, built in the USA etc., I was charged $193.00 by A plus for the larger capacitor, and at the parts store its was $36.00 retail.
For the smaller oval capacitor, I was charged $144.00 and the retail price for the EXACT same capacitor was $9.41. I think this overcharging for parts is a systemic problem in the heating and air conditioning world. FYI

Time for my twice/yearly visit from APlus A/C! Not only do they remind me when it's due, but they call when on their way, so I don't waste time waiting in a huge service window. Kyle arrived on time, & was wearing PPE, so I didn't have to ask, nor was I concerned with him being at my house. After finishing inside & outside on the compressor, he gave me a detailed written report, and fully explained the steps I could take to lengthen the life of my HVAC system.
I have their annual A/C & Heat service plan at my house, at rental houses, and my office. More than once the tech has found something that would have cost a lot of money to fix if not addressed now. It's easy to lose track of time and forget when tune-ups are needed, so I'm glad they are on top of things! Now, I'm off to buy a new A/C filter. Gulp! PS: They have a sister company that does high-quality remodeling or handyman services as well! --

We've used A-Plus for the past two years for everything from AC maintenance to remodel work to a new fence installation. Today we needed an AC repair, and as usual they delivered FAST, affordable, high quality service! (Special thanks to Arturo for saving us from the heat today!) I own and manage eight rent houses and have used A-Plus for all of my air conditioning needs since 1982. During that time they have serviced and replaced A/C systems in all of the rentals and my home. The business owner, Greg and his son Josh manage a staff of highly capable technicians who are available or on call 24/7, an important capability in Austin's hot summers. Gregg runs an honest and dependable business with prices that are reasonable and inline with industry standards.
In recent years Gregg's son Josh, has developed a Home Solutions unit. He has developed a set of craft people who are able to handle almost any home repair, from kitchen cabinet repair to privacy fence replacement to outside house siding replacement, to inside remodeling. Josh has managed all of the above on my properties. He just completed a bath room floor structure repair to stop a slow leaking toilet.
A qualified plumber reset the toilet and crafts people replaced the entire bathroom floor surface. The work was done efficiently and on time, leaving everything very clean. I highly recommend A-Plus for any kind of home repair and all air conditioning needs. Glenn Dody 512-636-7986

We had two units installed a few weeks ago. Inspection passed with no issues. Andie (I hope I spelled correctly) made it very easy to submit our rebates and she was awesome responding and acting to resolve any issues after the two units were installed. Owner (Gary) was very thorough in his recommendations. Now I hope our two units last longer than those we originally had - more efficient!
We have been with A-Plus for several years (since 2004) and continue to rely on this company for honest advice on A/C renewals, maintenance and quick response. Again, I am counting that there maintenance service continues as it has been since we first hired them back in 2004. Any issues have been minor and quickly resolved.

It was time to replace the heat pumps in my rental duplex, which they installed in 1990, so I returned to them (as they treated me right in 1990). They treated me right again. Professional, and efficient, they arranged to work with my renters to minimize the churn. They processed all the tedious paperwork to get the rebates from both Lennox and the City of Austin. All very turn-key and simple, from my point of view.

You know no one wants to pay for a service call these days but our furnace was out and with winter's chill upon us there was no time to hesitate in calling the fine folks from A-Plus. There was some concern that a tech might not be able to make it out to our home without an after hours service call but Craig from the office contacted me a short time afterwards and stated that one of their techs was finishing a job and could be at our place around 5:00 PM.
Not thirty minutes later and David informed us that the tech had finished his other stop early and was heading our way and would be there in the next 30 to 40 minutes. Donald arrived and promptly went about diagnosing the problem with the furnace all the while not seeming to being bothered by my watching him over the shoulder. He explained to me the basic functioning of the controls as he went about systematically working through his trouble shoot as I explained to him all of he problem areas that I had previously looked into earlier that day.
In short order he had isolated the problem and had the house warm again in no time. Like I say no one wants to pay for a service call but watching Donald's ability to diagnose this problem, (which trust me, didn't show up on any YouTube video I watched that day) was worth the price of admission. In a day in age in which one frets about being "taken to the cleaners" for repair issues outside of one's comprehension once again A Plus and their team of experts in the field of HVAC repair show why you really can't do better than an A-Plus!

I can't say enough good things about this company. We chose to update our heating and air systems in our home in 2016, and obtained proposals from 3 top-rated companies. Mr. Yamin came out, assessed our needs, and provided a bid that was over $2000 less than the other companies we spoke with. Job was completed promptly, on time, and within the proposal. Results have been remarkable-much better cooling during our incredibly hot summers and a major reduction in our electric costs from the City of Austin.
They also helped us file paperwork with the Austin Energy to obtain available rebates. We chose to purchase an ongoing maintenance agreement for the systems. They come out 2x per year to inspect the systems and make sure everything is running at top efficiency. Most recently, their technician "Donald" came to perform the maintenance. Zero stars if I could! I paid for a maintenance plan, scheduled services, and the technician never showed. I called and I was told he had overslept and that he would be at my house shortly. 45 minutes later I call and they swear he's 2 minutes away. 10 minutes later I call and they tell me his GPS sent him the wrong way. 15 minutes after that I call and ask for another technician and if there are any other services already scheduled.
They tell me they don't know and they'd have to look it up, and I tell them to forget it. 15 minutes later I call asking where the technician is and they tell me they've canceled the service call at my request. I ask for a refund and they tell me "We'll see". Their location is a 1/4 mile from my house. These people are clearly the worst.

We had them "fix" our A/C back in the 90s when I lived in Round Rock and I have to say the owner is the absolute WORST person to do business with. Way oversold and had zero intention of keeping his promises. Installers for the new unit required after they broke my prior unit (less than 10 years old and exceptionally well maintained) were pleasant. Then there was the whole unpleasantness with the State and the company not paying their taxes like they were supposed to. Use someone else.

It seems impossible these days to find a contractor who a) does exactly what they say they're going to b) charges exactly what they say they're going to c) confirms they're going to show up exactly when they say they're going to d) actually shows up exactly when they say they're going to e) are not jerks Every person I spoke to at A+ regarding the purchase and installation of my new ac system - which is about six different people - including the gentleman who sold me my system, the people who coordinate sales and service on the phone, as well as the installation techs, was always professional and nice.
Each time I spoke to them. I don't know what stars aligned to get me this kinda deal, but I'll take it. While A+ has not been 100% perfect during the years I've worked with them on my previous system (let's say they've been 97% on target), that's surely close enough for my 5 star. : ) A+ lives up to their name. If you have HVAC needs, A+ are hoopy froods who know where their towel is.

Debi kept me sane during the replacement. Whatever she promised was taken care of. She is a jewel. Frank & Lius are the hardest workers I have ever seen. They wasted no time, were efficient. They never stopped for lunch. They didn't waste a minute. The 2 guys that did the weatherization process worked fast, & cleaned up very quickly.

I contacted A-Plus because it seemed like my AC wasn't performing as efficiently as in the past, and their reviews are good. They were helpful on the phone, talking through my issues and possible causes. We agreed to a service call for a general check up. The tech showed up on time and was friendly and helpful. He replaced my filter (a non-trivial Aprilaire filter), showed me how to do it myself next time, and checked the system inside and outside.
He identified a few problems and gave me several options. In the end, I had him refill the coolant and address a few potential leak points. That was the cheaper option, and he said he would try that first before doing any more serious work. So far, so good. The invoice matched the estimate, service was friendly, no hard upsell, and no complaints. :)

Other companies couldn't come out for a few days, but A-Plus was there within a couple of hours. They diagnosed my HVAC's problem (bad thermostat) easily, and for only $74, which was $34 less than a competing company charged to diagnose a different problem a few months ago. (Both took about the same amount of time.) It was so cheap I tried to give the tech a tip, but he refused. Austin Energy then came out and replaced the thermostat (I'm on their Energy Partner Program) and I was back up and running quickly.

Our home A/C was blowing warm for several weeks and on the first really hot day of the summer (a Sunday), I decided there must be something wrong. I went to home depot and bought one of those temperature meters that use a laser (about $30) and pointed it into the air vents. It was barely cooling. Called A+ Sunday evening and left name and number. I was heading out of town Tuesday for rest of week and wanted to be there when they came.
At about 8:15 AM Monday morning I received a call from the A+ dispatcher. They had a tech at my home by 11:15. Tech knew what he was doing and reported that we had a very small Freon leak. After spending several hours trying to find the leak, he suggested we may not ever be able to find the leak which I believed. He recharged the unit and it was blowing very cold air within an hour.
I appreciated that he weighed the cost of his time trying to continue to find a very tiny leak against the chances that we may easily make it another year or two before we need another recharge. Our bill was reasonable and someone called me two days after the call to check up on the system repair. I found A+ on Angie's list because I was deathly afraid of being ripped off by an A/C repair company. I was happy and will use them again if the need arises.
