We selected Boatright for a very difficult repair project and are extremely pleased. The project involved extensive subfloor preparation and removal/replacement of solid oak flooring in two large areas in the house. In particular, the staff did a great job of cutting out and putting down new wood next to the wood edge of a kitchen island and cabinetry, getting as close as possible without damage. Also, the long seams between where new wood was installed and existing wood remained are invisible.
The staircase work was meticulous. Notably, we worked closely with staff on selection of the color finish and after several tests got exactly what we envisioned. The staff were pleasant, committed to doing a good job and careful about keeping the house sand-free and clean. Sam Boatright is a venerable, experienced and affable fellow, and right hand man Greg is very professional. No complaints. We recommend them highly.

These guys are horrible. They took my $$ as a deposit for a job that was scheduled out 2 months in advance (due to closing in a new home). 5 days after giving the deposit the deal on the home fell apart - I called boatright to get a refund and they refused to cough it up saying they had already bought supplies. Seriously? Funny how when my lawyer contacted them there was a change in their story and I got my $$ back (less $1k in legal fees).

What a strange company! One star is one too many! Spoke to Greg several times and he visited our house, measured and even came a second time with more samples. Said he would give us an estimate. This was in August. Did not hear anything from him right away but then decided to wait until after my husband's scheduled back surgery in mid-September. He's convalescing nicely now so called Boatright again to ask for the estimate. Greg told me when he called manufacturer they told him they had gotten several calls from someone looking for about same square footage as our job and he thought we were "shopping around", so he did not bother to estimate.
I told him that I had spoken to one other dealer but not about same product so those other calls to Mirage were certainly not us. And even if it was us, why not at least call me to ask? I said it was not us but when did asking for a second quote become a issue! Since August, I had changed my mind a bit about the project and had decided to do just 2 of the rooms.
When I asked him to do the estimate now, he outright declined! At the flooring grade we were considering these 2 rooms would have been in the $9000-$10000 range. But things must be going so well that they don't need my business.

Boatright Hardwood Floors were a pleasure to work with. I recently had carpet replaced with hardwood floors. The room was oddly shaped and has places where both marble and mirrors touch the floor. When there was any question, I was consulted and my wishes were carried out very professionally. i am so happy with how my new floor looks and I have received many compliments.

I called this company for the first time on June 21 and spoke with Sam. We needed the floors waxed for a rental property we have between July 24 & July 30. I was given a bid over the phone by Sam Boatwright and when I asked about scheduling, I was told he would call me back "tomorrow". I didn't get a call the next day, so I called again and spoke with Greg, who got the same information I gave Sam the day before and I was told again that I would get a call back the next day.
I called nearly everyday between then to schedule the floors and no one would answer. I finally got a hold of Greg about a week ago (July 10) and he tells me he needs to actually visit the unit (also that he has no recollection of our conversation) - so this bid gets scheduled for last Thursday, July 13th. Then when I called to ask questions about the bid, they can't schedule the floors to be done the days I initially asked for it to be completed and Greg tells me the first time he ever talked to me was last Monday July 10th. Then GREG HUNG UP ON ME. Extremely unprofessional.

It is a rarity to find a flooring company (any company really) that is almost unanimously respected by clients, but such is the case with Boatright Hardwood Floors in Austin, TX. I want to thank Sam, Greg & the team for the thorough removal, meticulous preparation and installation of our hardwood floors. I would absolutely recommend Boatright Hardwood Floors for quality wood flooring to Central Texas. - Brian & Maria

We have worked with Boatright Floor Company for over 10 years both for our home and our medical building. They have always been professional, courteous, and prompt in setting up appointments and getting the jobs completed. I would highly recommend Boatright Floor Company for anyone who needs new flooring, repair existing flooring or purchase cleaning products.

Remember that scene in Pretty Woman where Julie Roberts walks into the store on Rodeo drive and they wouldn't help her? Yeah. That is this place. I would give zero stars if I could. Just wanted to save some time for anyone looking for new floors and not wanting to pay inflated prices: I stopped by Boatright Floors to look for some new flooring.
We had a minor flood in our home and are getting all of our wood flooring replaced. I told the employee there that I was working with an insurance company to replace the floors, he said that I would probably not be able to afford their floors because they have to inflate their prices to make up for their overhead. He was only minimally interested in what type of floor I was looking for.
To me, that was probably his "dignified" way of saying, "You don't belong in here." He didn't even ask for my budget. So, if you are shopping for floors, keep that in mind. We've found that Floor King on 183 and Flohr up on Burnet have been much more helpful and, I'm guessing after this interaction, reasonably priced.

We just moved to Austin, Steiner ranch and had the most horrible unprofessional experience with Boatright Hardwood Floors! They took the contract to install hardwood in our house which started in April and continued to stretch it. On Friday, September 2, I was promised by the owner Sam Boatright over the phone that they would be back the following week on Tuesday (after Labor day) to continue work and finish sanding that week downstairs.
They never turned up nor did we hear from them. We had to call them yesterday and they turned up for 3 hours. This morning while they were sanding the living area, one of the employee told me that they were instructed that if any one was in the way that they should walkout by the owner of the company. The painters turned up and I immediately told them to clear the area that they had their things, as asked by the floor guys which was in a nook away from where the floor work was going on.
The flooring guys decided to quit since they were instructed by the owner even though the painters was not anywhere in their vicinity. They took the money for the job that they barely started, and walked out of the job. I have never come across such unprofessional and dishonorable behavior in all my dealings as this is not my first home renovation. Be very wary of this company BOATRIGHT HARDWOOD FOORS!

About 6 years ago, we had the Boatright folks install our wood floor downstairs and on our steps. They did an amazing job with that installation, and turned it around in exactly the time they quoted to us. We absolutely love the floor they installed for us! But what I believe really sets them apart is last week when we called them to help us with a portion of our steps that had split due to heavy traffic.
The Boatright team scheduled around our busy schedule to come out and repair it for us! They were more than willing to stand behind their work and make sure we were completely satisfied with their flooring. I continue to be impressed by the team at Boatright and would recommend that anyone looking for wood flooring should bring the Boatright team out for the work. The quality of work and the outstanding flooring they provided sets them apart.

We were relocating to downtown Austin from the suburbs and had a short window of opportunity to get the floors refinished before we moved in. Boatright was able to have a crew there immediately after the previous owners had vacated. They also FINISHED the job ON TIME. The downstairs is all walnut and the completed floors were truly some of the most beautiful I have seen.
The only thing that kept this from being a perfect experience is that the clear finish put on top of the stain did not hold up well to our two Labrador Retrievers' toenails. We found out that there was a more resilient clear coat that could be applied, but it required us to remove all of the furniture and allow for curing time and had an additional cost.
It would have been much more convenient to know about this option at the beginning. However, I would definitely recommend Boatright and plan to use them when we refinish our stairs and second floor. Another important point is that the Boatright team went to great lengths to minimize the dust and protect other surfaces from damage during the work phase.
I have had too many experiences where calling a contractor is 2 steps forward and 1 step back. They get the job done but end up messing up something else in the process.which requires another contractor. Not the case with Boatright - we had zero issues when they were finished.

We have known and worked with Boatright Floors and the owner, Sam, for over 10 years. He and his staff have always been professional and very efficient in the jobs they have done for us at Austin Doctors Building. Sam works with commercial as well as residential. I would highly recommend Boatright Floors and know you would be pleased.

Our family has known and used the family-owned Boatright Hardwood Floors for years. Firstly, the knowledgeable sales staff helped guide us along and worked easily with our price point and style.(so many good looking choices)I do believe that the wood floor we put in the house in north austin helped sell the house.and in the end, from choosing the wood, to installation, to follow through, the wood floor was a guaranteed investment for us

I built a home in 2009 and after meeting with a number of hardwood flooring companies in town, I selected Boatright based on a recommendation from my builder and their low priced bid. Boatright was easy to work with, showed up when they said they would and were absolutely perfectionists with my floors.

Having lived in central Austin, we'd heard about Boatright Floors for years, as all of our neighbors had their floors done by Boatright, and the consensus was that Boatright was *the* place for fine floors. We moved to northwest Austin and had a major remodel involving all new floors. Frankly, the Yelp reviews on Boatright had me concerned, but given that all of our neighbors used them, we checked out their store.
Our experience with Boatright was fabulous. Their depth of knowledge about floors and flooring options was amazing. They assisted us in selecting the perfect floor. Their installation people were excellent.really top notch people and a pleasure to be around. We have the utmost respect for Sam and Karen Boatright. Their service is personal and caring, and their products are unparalleled. For any one with a flooring need: go to Boatright's!

Boatwright Hardwood Floors came to our rescue in Corpus Christi when an upstairs bathtub broke and our 1936 gorgeous hardwood floors were ruined. We had an alternating beautiful oak large plank floor and it was devastating to see what had been a highlight become a problem. Humidity/drying time/air coming up from under the pier and beam house/continuous length of the house flooring all made this a difficult job.
What impressed us about Boatwright was that they stayed on the job and stuck to their bid even though it required 3x the expected work/cost for them. In the end, we may have the only floor in Corpus that isn't going to react negatively to humidity and movement! And they were able create a floor that looks identical to the one we initially fell in love with when we purchased our home!

Boatright floors completely refinished the hardwood floors in our home (approximately 1200 sq. feet). The wood was sanded down to bare wood, re-stained, and coated with polyurethane (from our original waxed finish). The floors are beautiful, the workmen were professional and we had not one problem during the whole process. About two years after that work we decided to build a 12'x12' addition on to our dining room. Sam assured me that they could join the new wood floor to the old with no problem.
He was exactly right. The new addition floor looks great, blends perfectly with the old and without a magnifying glass, no one could tell that the flooring was not all installed all at the same time. I'd use Boatright floors again in a minute!

This is a long-term review, as I have been using Boatright Floors for over 7 years now. I recently had Boatright repair some water damage (obviously not their fault) to existing floors originally installed by Boatright in 2007. The repairs are undetectable even if you know where to look. A perfect match on color and finish. Service was prompt and the price quite reasonable.
I'm a happy camper! Boatright installed floors in three of rooms, and refinished three other rooms as part of a major remodel in 2007. They expertly matched the existing wood, and even managed to correct or conceal mistakes and floor damage caused by other subcontractors. In short, an excellent job. Boatright recommended a more expensive, but more durable finish than regular polyurethane. Fortunately, I took that advice.
The floors have stood up to dogs, a wedding, countless spills (we put hardwood floors in the kitchen), Christmas parties, etc. After 7 years, there is no sign of wear, even in heavily trafficked areas. I have recommended Boatright to friends and neighbors and they are my first choice for my next remodel.

Boatright Hardwood floors has been my go-to flooring company for years. Their extensive knowledge and expert installation is matched only by their enormous selection of fine woods in their showroom. Their work is consistent and their prices are competitive. Two examples of Boatright's excellent service come to mind: In the store not long ago, Sam Boatright listened to what I need and gave me a great tutorial on the appropriate species of wood to chose.
I asked about stain and he told me it will be whatever I want. They lay the wood and apply samples of stain until I approve. This how custom service should work! They'll be doing my new building! A few years ago I called about a refinish job. Sam Boatright came to look at the job. The floors had some stained places, a little rough, some worn spots.
He said, "We shouldn't sand or varnish these floors, this is reclaimed antique pine. We clean and polish, get the dirt off and some of the stains out, retain the texture and patina." That's what they did and the floor gleamed like new old pine. Other flooring companies might not have thought to ask if I really wanted a sand and refinish job. I've sent my friends to Boatright and they have thanked me every time. As a Realtor, I see many beautiful floors. I always comment and frequently hear, "This is Boatright, they really are the best." I recommend Boatright whole heartedly!

I used Boatright Hardwood Floors recently and was very very pleased. After dealing with other flooring companies who either didn't show up or were unable to finish jobs, I called Boatright. They exceeded my expectations on service and price. They offered up very helpful suggestions and went about work in an efficient and professional way. They did more than what I was expecting and completed the job in an extremely timely manner. They stuck to their price estimate that was well-within my budget and did not charge a penny more for their expert service. I will definitely use them again.

I can't understand the negative reviews about Boatright Hardwood Floors. We started out in central Austin where everyone in the neighborhood raved about Boatright and the wonderful work they do. When we were remodeling our ranch home in northwest Travis County, we visited many flooring places, and I was concerned about the negative reviews for Boatright. However, my husband knew of their work first hand, so we checked Boatright out.
They are simply wonderful. They know their products, they're extremely accommodating, and their work is sublime. We talked with the owners themselves (and their charming dog Ruby), with their salesperson, and, since it was an extensive remodel, we got to know their floor installers as well. Totally first rate, and lovely people. We are beyond thrilled with our floors, and wouldn't go anywhere else but Boatright's. Boatright's offers old-fashioned, personal service, coupled with an incredible depth of knowledge about floor products. In fact, we're going straight back to them as we've started remodeling a guest cottage on our property. Don't let the negative reviews deter you!

Haha after reading all the other reviews, I'm glad I couldn't even get these guys to come out for a bid! 1. Left me a voicemail to let me know they were canceling (got it after I already left work to meet them) 2. Rescheduled, my husband was still in his PJs when they arrived and they LEFT before he could get to the door. No phone call - they later told me they guessed they had the wrong house? 3.
I ask them to call my husband to schedule since I'm out of town, they never call 4. I check yelp before trying to schedule for the FOURTH time, see reviews. Bye! How is this place even in business?

I wish that there was a ZERO option! They charged me $250 as a deposit and when no work was done they refused to return my deposit! They basically charged me $250 for an hourly worker to come here for an hour and give me a BID! Please do not use them. There are honest people out there who do wonderful work. Don't let them scare you into giving them money.

There needs to be a zero option. We could have sued for breach of contract (my partner is an attorney) but it just wasn't worth his time. Boatright is a liar. He stated in an email that we spoke on the phone, and I never spoke to him on the phone, only once in person. He agreed to pay us for the cost of fixing mistakes his employees made (dark marks where the applicator overlapped), then he ignored his own email agreeing to pay. This business has been sued repeatedly. STAY AWAY.

Too bad zero stars was not an option. I have never experienced such bad customer service. I dealt with Karen on the phone and in person. When I described what I needed she said " That could be a million things". OK, I get it, there are variations. When I asked where they were on Burnet, her reply was " Burnet is a very long road". Really, but there are cross streets to help narrow down the area.
I was able to get out of her it was between 2222 and 183 they are 2 blocks north of 2222. When I showed up I presented her the sample. She said have a look around and see if you can find the match and " let me know if you need any help ". Yes Karen I did need help. I figured you might know the product you sell well enough to be helpful. Never found what I needed.
But I do think the concept for Logan's Run was probably based on her. No help to me whatsoever, wasted 2 hours of my time and made me realize why I pay for customer service that is helpful. I wouldn't take free wood to burn from these jerks if I was freezing to death.

I had Boatright Floors refinish my Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors in my office and master bedroom and the floors turned out absolutely perfect! I received a call from Sam Boatright that they had an opening come up in their schedule and asked if they could start sooner then scheduled. I had no problem with that except none of my furniture had been moved and due to a recent knee surgery, I was unable to lift anything. Sam said that was not a problem at all and that his crew would be happy to move the furniture.
The crew consisted of two men, one who had been working with Boatright for over 20 years and a second man who was younger. They took a lot of care in moving my furniture and nothing was scratched. They also covered all my built-in bookcases, TV and paintings with plastic to protect them from the dust. On the second day of sanding down the floors, I was called out of town for work.
Their crew had been polite and respectful, so I left them with a key. When I got back into town four days later, the floors were completed as promised and looked perfect! Plus they had done an excellent job at cleaning up after themselves. Excellent craftsmanship and service.

Gorgeous, craftsman-quality hardwood floors at very high price (about 25 percent higher than comparable competition, but that contractor did not have an opening.) Terrible customer service - to the point Mr. Boatright told me what a difficult customer I had been, told me he did not trust me to pay (when I had been waiting to write holdback check for over 3 weeks, waiting for final touchup work); told me to never call him or his employees; hung up on me; and, pulled off the job before final fine detail and final payment.
Up to that point, I would have given a 3-star, taking off from 5-star craftsmanship for customer service. Quotes took weeks longer than projected, even after multiple follow-ups by email and phone. More than one appointment was not kept.

I have been a general contractor in the Austin Area since 1993. We focus primarily on residential remodels. Unfortunately, I recently lost my flooring contractor to failing health. I gave Boatright floors an opportunity to have my business, (6-8 floors per year). To say they have terrible customer service would be an understatement and redundant (see the other reviews on this site).
These people have very poor communication within their company and almost nonexistent communication with their customers. No one in this company is aware of what Sam Boatright is doing at any given moment, including Boatright himself. He is the most arrogant, and unprofessional person I have encountered in many years. In my dealings with him, I have been lied to, insulted, and threatened. Boatright floors missed most scheduled appointments, including the actual start date. Boatright tied up one of my job sites for more than 2 weeks, and in the end had the audacity to call me a liar, and tell me it was my fault.
If they don't care about my business, and the half dozen or so floors per year I would pay them for, imagine how little they will care about you and your floors. Save yourself some time, aggravation and money. This unorganized, unprofessional, untrustworthy company should be AVOIDED AT ALL COST!
These people have very poor communication within their company and almost nonexistent communication with their customers. We didn't know what good protection we had on our hardwood floors until Boatright re-did them. They said their "varnish" was the toughest out there.well, whatever we had before was far better as it never showed signs of dog wear. Now, in 3 short months, you can easily see marks on the floor where the dog's nails dig in when he gets up.

Absolutely horrible customer service. We scheduled our job weeks in advance, and when we called them a few days prior to the start date to ask what time they'd be arriving, they asked if they could push the start date out a week longer. We agreed. The morning they were supposed to start, no one showed. I finally called the sales manager mid morning, and was told, "the workers called in sick around 8AM".
I asked him why no one called to let us know, as we were there waiting for them. He said he would call us back around 5pm to let us know what day they could start. I called them back that afternoon, and the sales manager asked if they could start in two days rather than the next day. I said absolutely not--the job had already been delayed, and this was unacceptable.
I said I wanted to speak to Mr. Boatright. The sales manager said he was on the other line, and I held for about 10 minutes before hanging up. When I called back, the sales manager said he talked to Mr. Boatright and that they could indeed start the next day. They started the job the following day, but then the second day of the job, once again, no one showed up.
I called the office again, and they were unaware as to why the workers weren't there. When they called me back they said, "We are on our way over now." They finally arrived around 12:30. My husband and I told the sales manager how upset we were with all of this, and that the only thing that would make us happy is a discount to help compensate the inconvenience they had caused.
The sales manager said he didn't think Mr. Boatright would do that, but that we could ask him. He made some phone calls, and said that "Mr. Boatright is stranded" (whatever that means) and wouldn't be able to call us until the end of the day." He said, "We can either stop the job, or we can continue--whichever you prefer." I told him that I did not feel comfortable with them continuing on until I had spoken with Mr. Boatright.
He went outside, made a phone call, and came back and said that Mr. Boatright said he would apologize, but would not give us any kind of discount. Therefore, we told them to stop the job. I cannot believe that a business owner would not have the business sense to try to make things right, and never even had the decency to call us to apologize. Thankfully, we found a contractor named Anthony Ribera who arrived the next day and did a fabulous job (he even showed up on time).
