Tru Blu Pools

I needed a replaster job. After a few quotes, Mark was the only one that identified the crack behind my tile as a coping problem. The others all just said that they could patch it. It required removing a lot of coping to redo the mortar. They found a few tiles that matched my very old tile and it was just enough (honestly, we had to use a few chipped tiles, but I really don't mind and it's way better than retiling the whole pool.

Plus I like the vintage tile). It looks fantastic with the new Stonescapes finish and fixed tile. I did have a small issue after we initially filled the pool but Mark sent some guys out to fix it up. I'm letting you know because it's good to hear what happens when an issue comes up, rather than just having the flawless experience.

Great company. Had to schedule out a month ahead. Well worth the wait Great follow up and a great team of sub contractors! Exceeded our expectation and followed up on all issues. Trust is important and they have mine. Would rehire and recommend to all.

We have contracted with Mark and Tru Blu over the past years for several pool repairs, some major as well as a complete pool re-plaster job last year and have nothing other to say except we made the right choice going with Mark and Tru Blu. During the recent freeze our pool/spa heater failed and could not run pump. I contacted Mark on a Friday concerning this and Mark met with me the next day.

Bottom line, Mark and Tru Blu are very competitive, reasonably priced, possesses professional knowledge in the field and are very responsive. New heater was delivered, installed and pool was up and running on Tuesday. Will contract with any future repairs with Tru Blu and strongly recommend Mark and Tru Blu for your pool repair needs. We used Tru Blue in 2010 to resurface our pool and our decking. I know what you're thinking, "why wait until now to write a review?" Immediately after TB resurfaced our pool, the main light and spa light were not working. We asked them to fix them and the owner told us it was impossible and that they tried. A few weeks later we got a guy to fix them no problem.

Within the first year or so we noticed discoloration of the plaster all over the shallow end. The plaster looked stained and worse than what we had prior to. Also within the first year we saw that the cool deck began cracking in places or just random chunks were popping out. Again, this looked worse than what we we had in the first place. We recently had a couple companies come out to give us a quote on resurfacing.

The one we chose to go with is also our pool maintenance company. He gave us a quote that was higher than Tru Blu (back in 2010), but we also went with an upgraded pebble surface over the traditional plaster. Once the water was drained and the guys began prepping the surface they could tell that they needed to remove all of the prior plaster mainly because the last resurfacing job (done by Tru Blu) was, as the owner of the company doing the work "one of the "worst plaster jobs I've ever seen in my career, everything about it was done incorrectly." So, we had to pay an additional $1,600 to have the mistakes of Tru Blu undone.

My advice, shop around for quotes. We were young and were probably looking for the best price back then. But you do get what you pay for. True Blu sticks out because of this issue and as one of the worst home projects we have done due to the attitude of the owner and the level of work. Look elsewhere.

We moved into the area this past summer and discovered that our pool had been "patched up" for cosmetics but had not been properly repaired and there were several leaks. We decided to completely renovate and called around to several companies. Only 2 responded to our calls. Mark came out the same day we called. He was very personable and patient with our many questions and concerns.

Once we decided to go with them, they started work immediately, the week of Christmas! All the crews have been very nice and efficient. Each day they cleaned up before they left and progress was easily seen. Today is January 2 and we are a few hours away from refilling the pool. Key reasons we picked them: the owner is very involved in the business, he focuses only on renovations and has done so for 20+ years. He runs his own crews and does not subcontract. I highly recommend Tru Blu for pool renovations!

Amazing work! We had a custom waterfall idea in mind and Tru Blu was able to meet and exceed all expectations. Will be referring them out to my friends and neighbors.

I would NOT recommend this company to anyone! I paid 12K to repair crack and re-plaster my pool. Six months after the crack came back due to them NOT doing the repair correctly. They also did not fully remove (sandblast) paint off and now the plaster has to be removed, sandblasted again and repair the crack correctly. I am facing another 30K in cost to fix what Mark did not do correctly!

Tru Blu Pools resurfaced our entire pool deck, plaster, tile, and stone coping. Super pleased with the work and how detailed the crews are while working. Thanks!

Mark came out to do an estimate on our skimmer repair project within 24 hours of calling. He even came out on a Saturday, which was impressive. Our piping under our deck had a leak and we had to reroute a new pipeline underground from the skimmer around our property to the pool equipment. His partner, who came out to do the digging, completed the project in 3 days and our skimmer is now working great!

My only complaint, and reason for a 4/5 star review, is that a mess was left in our backyard grass. None of the dug up grass was put back and flattened in place. I reached out to Mark the day the repair was completed and reported how the grass was left a mess. Unfortunately, despite a week passing by, he never came back out to our house to fix the problem. Needless to say, this morning I spent 3 hours cleaning up the mess and appropriately putting the grass back where it belonged.

You can see the mess that was left with the attached picture. I would use Tru Blu Pool services again in the future, but would be weary that the cleanup job may not be as thorough as the actual job repair performed.

Since our pool was off level by approximately 3 inches pulling one the skimmers out of the water, we had to do a total renovation. It was a huge and messy process, but Mark and his crew did a great job. Mark or his son were at the job site consistently inspecting the work. Now the pool is level and it looks great. We would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate their pool. Thanks Mark.

Mark Paulson and his crew didn't use the proper bonding technique resulting in plaster coming off, Mark did not stand behind his product or workmanship. Mark is a crook.

Bad Experience - the guy who did our major warranty rework after rocks fell off less than two months after a $28,000 rebuild had been in the country less than a week. Still owes me money for warranty work the owner agreed to pay for.
