I called Friday and was told the earliest appointment they have is Sun between 10am-2pm. Woke up Sun morning just before 9am to messages saying that the tech was on my property. When I went out no one was there. When I called back I was told that "because I wasn't available when they came they have to reschedule me AFTER everyone else and it won't be until maybe after 6pm." The dispatcher actually blamed me for NOT being available more than hour BEFORE my scheduled appointment. Since I didn't answer my phone at 830am to confirm that I was willing to accept an earlier appointment, they put me last on the list. How is that good customer service?

NEVER AGAIN! Technician says weak capacitor is the reason why it's cooling down only to about 75 ( it was set at 76 and actual 76 when he came). After we refused to pay $440 for part that is online $20, technician states that AC won't work even after somebody else replaces capacitor, as a matter of fact it won't work after he leaves.

I asked him why it wouldn't work if it worked when he came, he says it died few minutes before he got here. Guess what, it's not working after he left. Stay away from this company!

Derek Joy was wonderful. Very thorough in finding the issue with my air conditioning. We are selling this home and I explained this to him. A piece of furniture had been moved to block some of the vent where the air handler is. He moved the furniture, closed up a hole that seemed to be part of the problem and recommended putting another vent in the door.

He stayed to make sure the system was cooling properly. He is a very nice person who took the time to figure out the problem and did what was necessary to get the system working. I really appreciate his courtesy, attention to detail and for helping get the air conditioner fixed on a very hot day. Thank you.

We had our system replaced in April and couldn't be happier. The pre-installation inspection was thorough, the rep was informative, professional and not at all pushy. Our second electric bill told the tale, saved $175 from year to year same month. Well worth the investment, because our old system was 20 years old. If you haven't called them for a quote, you're missing a chance at a fair price installed the next day. JW-Fleming Island (River Reach Road).

RIP OFF ARTIST! BUYER BEWARE! Jacksonville, FL. The night family arrived in June from up north the air is blowing warm through the vents. Waychoff's was first to arrive, so I gave them the job to fix it. Tech said he replaced 2 capacitors in my pump outside and charged me over $600. After watching a few videos on YouTube, I learned how to do it myself and also found out Caps cost $13 and $15 each and could have replaced myself in 15 minutes (lesson learned).

A few weeks later my neighbor tells me my unit outside is making a noise when it first starts up. I heard it once and before I could look into it that weekend, the air was warm again. Opened the unit and found of my 2 caps one was nice, shiny and new, while the other as old, corroded, swollen top and the bottom had blown out. The noise was the cap arcing.

The tech had charged me for 2 caps and only replaced one. From the videos I learned my caps and had both on hand so fixed it myself in 30 min. Now I keep one of each cap on hand to repair cheap and with minimal downtime. Called to complain and never received a call back.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! Waychoff's tried to convince me to spend $4K on a part that would have done NOTHING to fix my AC leak. I am glad I decided to get a second opinion from a better company! The leak was easy for the other company's technician to find and the repair was relatively inexpensive. Also, Waychoff's does not return phone calls.

I tried to speak to a manager on Tuesday and was told they would call me back. I tried again on Friday (was on hold for about 15 minutes) and still didn't get to talk to a manager. UPDATE 5/3: Management finally left me a voice mail, but when I try calling them back, they do not take my call. I have been waiting for weeks to speak with a manager.

We are thrilled with the service we received from Waychoff's today! We called for help with a problem with an upstairs A/C unit, and quickly got a call back from the technician and scheduled them to visit between 2 and 6 PM. But just a short while later they called us back to let us know they were available earlier, and they arrived before 1 PM. Our technician, Trace, quickly diagnosed the problem with us looking right over his shoulder and was able to fix it immediately.

He was very helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with. The job was done in less than an hour and we were very pleased to pay the bill, which was very reasonable. Thank you Trace! We will work with Waychoff's again for sure.

Rusty is awesome, professional in every way. Waychoff is lucky to have him representing their company! We have spent years trying to figure out the issue of the master bedroom being so hot. We had SEVERAL other company's come out and say there was nothing they could do. The two techs that did the job were very good. Thanks! Service:HVAC duct & vent repair

Called Saturday and when the tech came he said that we should replace our 6 year old unit just because it was low on Freon. After we said no he told us that it would be OVER $3000.00 to charge our unit after we told him no he came down to $1800.00. We had to pay we needed A/C just had knee replacement did not have much of a choice. I will send a complaint to the BBB and I wish there was a lower rating than 1 star. Joe

Erick is fantastic, he walked us through each diagnostic test/test result and taught us about our unit. Based on his findings, he walked us through the options available to us and gave his recommendation based on the options. He is incredibly professional and knowledgeable. We have had other techs from Waychoff's and they have all been great as well, overall a great company to work with!

We bought a Bryant system from Waychoff less than 2-1/2 years ago and I've had 2 technicians come out for service calls in less than three weeks. First call out they changed out a capacitor in the compressor because the heater wouldn't cutoff and yesterday after well over an hour of troubleshooting I'm told that we need a new Thermostat for $400. Ironically, the first guy said capacitors usually last about 2 years AND yesterday the guy tells me the Thermostat they installed went out of warranty after 2 years.

I was told that the capacitor was not under warranty but.the following was on their invoice: "Task # Diag warrantycap Envfee Description This is the fee charged to come to your residence and troubleshoot the problem. Labor to change out the warranty part, process the paperwork and return the bad part This fee covers the cost of performing our duties while maintaining a clean and safe environment as well as the disposal of non environment friendly products." Read before you sign. 1/28/2022 "I find and agree that all work performed by Waychoff's Heating And Air Conditioning has been completed in a satisfactory and workmanlike manner.

I have been given the opportunity to address concerns and/or discrepancies in the work provided, and I either have no such concerns or have found no discrepancies or they have been addressed to my satisfaction. My signature here signifies my full and final acceptance of all work performed by the contractor." (Really? Again, read before you sign. I've requested several times to get something that show what is or isn't included in the warranties. (Air Handler, Compressor and Thermostat) For some reason this information was not supplied with this unit and I have yet to see one. This was our first AND last time we will use Waycoff's! There are are way too many good HVAC contractors in Jacksonville to settle for mediocrity.

Beware! First tech they sent to do some duct work repair/replacement said I should do the work myself to save money. I am a 70 year-old man and the attic is just exposed ceiling rafters. My AC. went out that evening so he came back next day and had to repair the outside unit. He didn't even realize my unit was under warranty and charged me as if it wasn't. (I only found out about the unit still under warranty when the second tech came out). Also, I was quoted a price for the duct work repair, by first tech, but when the second tech came out the price jumped $100. Waycoff did refund part of my money but not full amount. I also had asked that they refund the service charge by the first tech and they would not.

This review is overdue since Rick actually came out a few months ago, but he did such a wonderful job that I wanted to be sure to still put in a review for him. Thankfully we don't have to do home repairs very often, but that means when we do have something come up, it seems like a big deal to me or I get stressed about it. Thankfully Rick took all of the worry out of the situation.

He thoroughly went over everything he was going to do to get our AC system running again, and even recommended a budget-friendly strategy to prolong the life of our system. So, I feel like we got very good value for the money and our AC is still running great. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, courteous (he offered to go around the house so he didn't walk-through), communicative (he called when he was on the way and even followed up the next day).

He also showed up right on time and wore a mask without me even asking. Rick definitely gave us 5-star service and Waychoff's and Rick has customers for life with us. Highly recommend.

I don't like having to sign 3 places on their blank (i-pad?) they hand you; you can never get a complete, itemized printout of what they did and why they did it. It's frustrating to call the office FIVE times hoping to finally get a complete and thorough printout as to what was done and how much each part cost without getting a condescending "Interesting." from the young ladies when you assure them that what they sent you does not have as much information as past ones.

I keep all e-mails and even sent them an example so they could have looked to see what I was talking about if they had only bothered. We keep files at home on all of our major equipment (appliances, autos) so we know what was replaced, when and why - so apparently we are not going to have one for our November 5, 2021 issue. We had a couple of things replaced that were over $200 just for the labor.

Also the techs do not thoroughly check their work when they are done and I called them both out on not tightening those panel cover bolts, and the last time there were bolts missing from the panel of the inside unit. On this last occasion, I phoned the office back and asked them to send the tech back out here to replace the missing bolt. He came back promptly, and then proceeded to inform me which bolt would need to be replaced next, because they tend to wear out and you have to go to a bigger one. (So, knowing this, why did he not take the opportunity to do it right the first time?) We paid for their twice yearly maintenance program, and I expect that they will come out and do their job thoroughly without me having to check up after them.

After the last tech left, I found that he had just taken a bolt out of another location on our panel and put it where the missing one was, so now we still have a missing bolt elsewhere. (Seriously, you can't afford to outfit their worktrucks with bolts?!?) They don't seem to care like they did when they sold us a $7K system 5.5 years ago. Here's what happened from day one: brand new system was installed in 2016; that first day, they claimed they had bad coolant that had "trash" in it, and they had to drain it and re-install.

They also had to wait for some other part, so no operating brand new a/c for one day. We were concerned that this "trash" in the coolant, which had circulated throughout our new system, was not only going to violate our warranty but ruin our system. We were assured it would not. Two years later, our system completely quit in the middle of summer. They could not get anyone out for FOUR DAYS. Don't believe their flowery ads. Sadly, we have found that Waychoff's is no better than anyone else out there. Some techs are better skilled, more personable, and more customer service oriented than others. You cannot count on getting them every time.

Justin arrived on time and understood my request. What most impressed me was that there were no comments about the competition. I made it very clear who I'd spoken to and what they told me. He didn't comment. He stayed focus on what Waycoff could do, what brands they offered and getting me the best offer to meet my needs. The quote was competitive so I went with Waycoff because of the professionalism demonstrated by Justin. Added comments next day. Had my install today, excellent experience. Professional, focused, and polite. The installation was very neat. I am so pleased

Trace was outstanding! He was kind, knowledgeable, and did great work. As a new homeowner, I am still learning about what's needed and recommended to keep the system functioning without issues, and Trace was helpful in walking through some tips and tricks! I look forward to seeing him for the routine maintenance in 6 months! I was also so happy to be able to schedule a same day appointment so easily!

Arrived on time. Diagnosed problem and had my unit up and running. Unfortunately, it continued to run constantly and would not shut off. Temperature dropped to 71 degrees so I called them back. Service tech arrived on time, but charged for a second service call even though the problem had obviously not been resolved the day before. Would not recommend.

Waychoff was the second business I called after waiting a full day for an appointment time from the first company. Waychoff was able to assure me on the phone that someone would be out by 7PM on a Sunday to fix my unit and they held up that. After almost two full days without AC I am very thankful they were able to get that done. Their employee, Jomar, was professional and knowledgeable.

He quickly diagnosed my unit in under 15 minutes and even took the extra time to run my AC serial number to see if it was under warranty to save me money with the manufacturer. I really appreciate his time, even after fixing the unit, Jomar patiently waited for the house to start cooling to confirm that the job was done and that we would be able to sleep comfortably.

That is the pinnacle of customer service, on a Sunday at 9PM he was patiently waiting for my AC to cool and can't express how much my family and I appreciate that level of commitment. I see that they don't have stellar reviews on Yelp but are very highly rated on Google. Not sure why the drastic difference. Either way, I highly recommend Waychoff based on my experience with them today.

From an almost customer standpoint- the first impression i got from this company was completely appalling, to where i feel the need to share this with you all. I called in on a Tuesday afternoon, my unit was blowing hot air. I spoke with a Cassidy on the phone, and was apparently placed on a "hold". Only it wasn't a hold at all, i was driving my kids to practice, and over the car Bluetooth, this lady dropped many curse words. Said i " had an attitude " and wasn't going to offer me today.

She was laughing and cursing away with other people in the office, while i was busy driving and trying to get her words off my car audio so my children didn't hear this company representative talk that way. Once she came back on the phone from my lovely "hold", she told me the soonest they had was a Friday mid-day. Just how she joked about, that because I was "rude", I was suddenly offered Friday?

Please let it be noted that all i did was call in, and ask for a service appointment to see what was going on with my unit. I mean i understand a wait in Florida, and I didn't mind the next day, but 3 days without air when you knowingly had openings on your schedule? And when your representative withholds service? Completely unprofessional and embarrassing, meanwhile, McGowans came out, and i bought 2 new units with them. Dont waste your time here.

Would not recommend this company. they wanted all of the money up front to replace a unit even thought the work would not start for a week. Also there price I found is not competitive and the add in a lot of fees that are not clear or printed anywhere. Bottom line, there price is not competitive and they will try to charge you a price they think they can get away with.

I have had nothing but headache with this company. Replaced my whole unit for $5k 3 years ago. Nothing but problems and more $$, 2700 then 900, then 300 now asking for 1500! Come on man, I HAVE NO AC! Stop buying crappy parts, blame it on the vendor and charge the customer. Tech said I am just a tech take your complaints up with the office. Terrible! Terrible!

After our AC and heat no longer worked after a security company installed a smart thermostat, I decided to call Waychoff's as they were the company that had originally installed the equipment. A tech by the name of Scott came out to our house who was condescending with me the entire time. He was upset that I let the security company come out to replace the thermostat.

After he noted that the previous thermostat was a special two-way unit, he began to tell me how I was fortunate that I didn't fry my system and that I could have ended up paying $1000. He indicated that he was going to charge me an additional $100 fee on top of the service call because he had to take out a communication device within the air handler itself.

I asked him if they would give me a military discount and he looked at me with a frown and said "Not for something like this!" He began to then lecture me on how homeowners shouldn't be touching the thermostats. These are things I was clueless about. Why would Home Depot be selling Nest thermostats for customers to install if they didn't want home users installing them?

He was nice enough to configure the new thermostat for me. I printed out the instructions for him and he configured the equipment settings. He let me know that since I ditched the old proprietary unit, I would not be able to take advantage of a special dehumidification function where the fan runs slow during the summer to remove extra moisture from the air.

I guess I will have to see how the new unit fares come summer. Toward the end, he takes out a temperature probe and punctures the ductwork right above the air handler. After he removes the probe, he leaves a nice small hole as he checks to make sure the heat is functioning. He could have patched it but I guess he decided to leave it as a warning to never touch our own thermostat again. Fortunately, I have some flue tape so I was able to patch it a day after he left. Based on my interaction with the technician, I would probably go with a different AC company that offers military discounts and has a better attitude toward customers. For our service contract, I will definitely be looking for a company more focused on customer service.

I'd hoped for better. A/C just wasn't cooling well so I figured I should have someone come look at it. I looked up Waychoff's online, found their $59 precision tune-up deal and scheduled someone to come out. I fully expected they would tell me I needed a whole new system. They did not. However, no 'tune-up' was received. The tech looked at the air handler - he didn't touch it - didn't take off any covers to look inside at the blower or coils, there was definitely nothing cleaned.

He did tell me the plenum needed to be replaced. He then looked in the attic, to check insulation. Comes down ladder, tells me we need more insulation. Fine, give me the numbers. So, for plenum replacement and to bring the insulation up to code, $2300. We can have it done tomorrow. Tells me this will make the house much cooler and the a/c won't have to work as hard, plus, electricity bill will go down. So, I talk to my husband and we decide to go with it. (We had been saving the money for a new unit but since these 'professionals' are telling us the unit is just fine, we figure everything is ok.) A crew comes out the next day to do the work. Now, it's been a couple of months.

House is not cooler, bill is most definitely not lower. Mind you, we live in NE Florida so, yeah, it's plenty hot, so I don't get to stressed about it. But the back bedroom is most always at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. I can't say for sure but I feel they didn't put much new insulation back that way due to the slope of the roof. Nevertheless, we keep hoping for the best.

Then about 4 days ago the air handler starts making noise. I'm thinking well, this is it, it's going to have to be replaced now. (btw, house built in 2006, same a/c from build) I call up Waychoff's to request someone come look at it and give me a quote on replacement. I told the lady on the phone about the insulation and plenum replacement as well as the fact that I never received the "Precision Tune-up".

She is sorry. I'm told it would be $90 for someone to come out. I said, your website says, "Free Estimate on any new system install". She says, "you said something is wrong with the handler, so we know there is a problem, and we have to charge the fee for someone to come out." Now, why would I request a quote on a new install if the equipment I had was working properly? Obviously, I did not have them come out again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

DO. NOT. USE. WAYCHOFF'S. The bad reviews are true. I had a couple of techs from Waychoff's service my property on two separate occasions. First time the tech talked me into doing an insulation job for an extra $1,500. Weeks later, I received no invoice, no service agreement, nothing. Just a fat charge on my credit card. Finally got them to email me the invoice, only to find out the $1,500 insulation job was documented with nothing more than "as agreed" on a service invoice.

That was the line item: "as agreed: $1,500" After asking the Waychoff's rep if they had any other documentation of the insulation service, I received nothing. That same day, after I had canceled my second service appointment in the same email, a tech came out anyway. This second tech brazenly lied to me, saying my package unit needed more refrigerant.

He said maybe I had a slow leak and couldn't give me a warranty. Luckily I had another company look at it later that day -- which is when I found out my system categorically didn't need any refrigerant. The Waychoff's tech was just trying to extract money from me. And not pocket change either. He refused to tell me how much freon my system might need -- that it could be 2 pounds or 5 pounds (at over $100 per pound). Really happy I told him to pound sand. Blacklisted.

Although I once thought Waychoff's was one of the better AC companies in Jacksonville (I must have, I bought four units from them in the last three years), I have come to the conclusion that they might be good on sales, but they definitely shaft you on the follow-on service. Today they showed up for a scheduled maintenance checkup of a less than three year old system.

The tech tells my wife the evaporator coil needs cleaning, price $191.00 (not covered by maintenance contract). Next, the capacitor needs replacing, capacitor is under warranty, but $90.00 labor to change it (5 max 10 minute job). I called Waychoff's only to be told, "we have a lot of overhead and if we didn't charge that, we wouldn't be in business".

Now let's figure this out, Maintenance fee $180+ for two trips, the $90 charge is because they have to change capacitor (5 or 10 minutes), take the capacitor back to the shop and mail it to the AC company for warranty replacement. Throw in $191.00 to clean the coil, any way you look at it, not a bad hours pay. I will let Yelp readers make their own decisions, I am only sharing this to help you do it.
