This is the most negligent and twisted company I have ever worked with. They do not serve their customers well and will nickel and dime you for every tiny thing. Two years ago this company installed our unit. Both indoor and outdoor. Which cost nearly $10,000. In the last 6 months, we have had problem after problem with our system. We scheduled and paid for the annual maintenance inspection which you should do to make sure everything is working properly before the summer months in Texas.
Every month afterward there was a new problem. A tech would come out say the issue, charge us a service fee and repair fee, then our A/C would go out next week. One tech even told me that it was our fault our system wasn't working properly because we kept it under 70 degrees too often, therefore tried talking me into adding an ambient kit which was $480 to our brand new system to keep the airflow.
Six techs later and $1,000 in, it turns out we had a leak. It was a nightmare just to get someone to come out and diagnose the problem this time after the A/C had gone out over the weekend when it is 100 degrees outside. Tried charging me $157 just to tell me there is a leak and there is nothing they can do. Monday comes and now they are saying to fix the coil will be $3,000 in labor costs.
I hope people read this in order to be spared from the financial nightmare it is to work with this group. After paying $10k for a brand new system with them only two years ago, it's unbelievable how unprofessional they are and charge you for every stupid thing. No customer should ever be treated this way. Trust me, they don't care about people, they are the most greediest, utterly dishonest, company I have ever worked with. And you should know they charge more than anyone else out there. Do yourself a favor and work with anyone else but them. My biggest regret was using this group.

Great Total Air and Heat, and awesome employee. Jacob came to inspect my daughter's old system and give an estimate of different Carrier systems. He is very knowledgeable and sincere. His service is excellent and honest. He's an amazing guy and I definitely recommend Total Air for the AC new system. Tom in Florida Service: Installation

We had a whole new system installed by Total Air and Heat. Initially we were going to go with another company but after hearing so much about Total Air we gave them a call and so glad we did. Compared to the other bids we got I believe we got a very fair price. Not the lowest but for the system we got very fair. I would recommend anyone needing any type of hvac service to reach put to them. We loved how responsive they were and the amazing service they provided.

I believe Total Air and Heating has let me down. A repairman visited 11 days ago and an Expanded Valve had to be ordered out of LA, the order had a shipping tracking number but unable to get an arrival date for a slated installation on May 13. Concerned I have my eggs all in one basket and they are unable to respond right now. My house is 87 inside for a high the last 10 days, one old dog has died and now the other one is sick.
I have visited Total but no calls from them to me on status. On Monday I will bid a new 5 ton system our for installation, will evaluate four local companies. If value ever arrives I will pay for it and tell them they can keep it on me.

We have used Total Air for our A/C maintenance for the greater part of 15 years. They thoroughly check out the indoor and outdoor sections of the system, recommending if something needs immediate correction, not trying to sell work if it doesn't. Our tech today, Troy, was awesome at checking the system, as well as answering any questions I had. Awesome in all respects! Thanks!

Highly recommend Total Air & Heat. Great customer service, honest techs, fair pricing, on schedule and not trying to up-sell unnecessary service. I had previously used another company to do my HVAC work and I wish I had found Total Air & Heat 5 years ago. For this call, I had concerns with a compressor that was under warranty. The Customer Service representative was paying attention and made the point to scheduled my service call to be within the operating hours of the Carrier warranty support team so they wouldn't have to come back to get a warranty replacement approved later.

The technician actually arrived earlier than expected but he had texted his arrival time so I was ready for him. We discussed the issues and he got to work quickly. He seemed to work quickly & efficiently and before long he reported the issue was a broken connection between several pieces of the system. The labor charge was reasonable and there was no expense for parts or materials. A fast and fair repair.

I was very impressed with, Michael, the technician sent to checkout my heating issue. I had a few questions and concerns after the repair. He took the time to explain them to me. He also made a minor adjustment to where I no longer hear the loud air flow from the air intake. I was very pleased with this technician and Total Heat & Air.

I was impressed that we were able to get a same day diagnostic appointment. They quickly identified the problem and were able to arrange for a sales call the same day. No pressure sales. They were able to install the new furnace and a/c within a week. Everyone was professional and friendly. They were thorough in going over the new unit after install. Price and service excellent and would recommend/use them in the future!

Michael S. was fantastic. He and the person he was training were thorough in investigating the issue with my HVAC and did the best they could to come up with a solution for me that didn't require replacing the entire unit. They were professional, courteous and took the time to explain what was going on. Excellent service!

Technician was prompt and very courteous. He was very knowledgeable and explained what he was doing. I've never experienced such exceptional service. Everything was excellent from this company. It was easy to book my appointment for a day and time that worked best for me. My appointment was set between 1-5 and the technician was at my house at 1. In and out in 15 minutes. I will definitely only be using this company from now on.

I have been a TAC customer for 33 years, since founder Fred was going out on calls. Having a tech come out every 6 months, especially here in Texas, give me confidence in their thoroughness and honesty; I also have security knowing that I will not be left in the heat or the cold. We had Total Air and Heat replace our evaporator coils and they did a great job. I knew the approximate cost of parts and could not believe the OUTRAGEOUS quotes I was getting from other companies. Total Air and Heat offered a great price and did excellent work. We will definitely use them for our future AC needs. They explain what they are going to do and do not try to upsale or inflate the cost. Highly recommend.

I've used Total Air twice now and they were excellent both times! Their technicians are knowledgeable about the equipment and understanding of budgets- both times the techs were very honest about repairs and what to expect. We had a $10k AC unit replaced in June 2020 and we have since had no fewer than six service visits in the last 14 months. Our AC unit still does not work properly. Most days our house can't cool below 80 degrees. Each tech has told us a different supposed "issue, " and each time the problem has returned. Also, each tech visit costs around $100-$200, and only the parts are covered on warranty, not the visits themselves.
We are now told 14 months later that there is a leak in our new unit that will cost $1652 to repair--this is in addition to the hundreds we've spent every weekend for the last two months in service fees. Somehow they missed the leak the first three times they came out this summer. This company is completely unsympathetic to the fact that they were unable to diagnose this leak until the fourth recent visit. And how does the product have a leak after a little over a year? Completely uncovered by warranty? Absurd.

The on-site repair personnel take the time to do all they do professionally and efficiently. Recently Rudy performed our 6 months A/C maintenance and was very professional. Greg came out twice for an emergency with A/C. Found the problem got us back on in no time, both times being on the same day as problem occurred and after normal business hours. Excellent mechanical skills. Office personnel give excellent service in scheduling and reacting to customers needs.

An amazing experience Tina represented the company so well and I felt heard from the minute she answered. She got someone out within a few hours on a Saturday. Carl came and he immediately set out to do repair and he went over and above my expectations. Will certainly use them in the future. Service: Repair HVAC

Our 3 ton air-conditioner bit the dust, and after having talked with different people we went with this option being the best priced and showing they had the product we needed on hand. On Wednesday June 30th, total air came in to start service on our system, completely rebuilding 5 air ducts and some duct work along the air route, before installing the new unit.
The service agents were quite friendly and showed me that they cared about making sure the job was not only done right, but not leaving a mess behind for me to have to deal with. After having this unit in active service now for more than a week, so far everything is going good, and I would highly recommend them to anyone needed air conditioning work done.

The work was done efficiently. The technician was friendly and professional, however, after being a loyal, long-term (13+ years) high-spending, (spent between 30K-40K over the years, buying 2 Trane AC units (2017) and a new Trane furnace (2009), paying cash all 3 times), very enthusiastic customer who has written glowing, 5 star reviews on "Angi" twice (2009 and 2017) and recommended them to neighbors, I will no longer do business with Total Air and Heat.
They had a brand new hire (2 months on the job) send me a scathing letter accusing me of being "abusive" to a few of their 30-35 employees. He said several had been complaining about my demeanor on the phone and in person for over a year, yet, nobody contacted me to discuss this. This matter was not handled in a kind, friendly, humane way. The owners could have reached out to me personally.
They could have asked me to come in to visit with the dispatchers. It could have been handled graciously and diplomatically. The employees could have inquired about how I am feeling. Yet, none of that was done. I cannot, after that scathing letter, ever use Total Air and Heat again.

I'm impressed - during the depths of the arctic experience their serviceman came out quickly. Because the power was out at the time, Carl discussed the situation and he not only recommended we not repair or replace anything, he assured me that what has happening was the way the system was designed to function and recommended a work-around that would make it reset and start heating sooner each time the power would come back on. Plus, he also waived the service call fee! Outstanding guy!

Our system was working well until we came home and found 85 degrees in the main part of our home. Total air appeared fair with their pricing and was charging $65 per pound of freon which is a great price. We had 1LB put in last year and it seemed to do the trick for the entire year. We have had freon placed in our system every 4-5 yrs, usually 1-2LBs each time.
The tech found the capacitor to be broken $240+ and then proceeded to put in 7Lbs of Freon. I came outside and saw a massive plume of white gas going up in the air, something I have never witnessed before. Our bill was $808 which included the visit, capacitor, and freon and we were happy as the temperature dropped to within a good range within 24hrs.
The tech handed the bill over and did not explain the charges and trustingly we never questioned it. About 1 week later the temperature was back up to 85 degrees. Steve Lauten President of Total Air informed us via email, that we had chosen to not search for a leak, which we honestly do not remember being asked, and quite honestly that was the point of the visit.
Sure enough in almost illegible writing, there it was, we had declined and so, therefore, there was no guarantee. They did however offer to put a percentage? of what we paid to go towards a new system. If you are to use them, make sure you read over your bill and ask them to look for the leak, which is why we had them out in the first place. The visit does not include searching for a leak, that's another $121 or so. BTW the capacitor can be easily removed with 4 screws and can be purchased for $14 to $55 on Amazon. I would rather sweat than to ever use Total Air again.

This company may or may not be COVID gouging, but either way their pricing is exorbitant. I.E. my Air Conditioning capacitor failed. I ended up having them replace it. They charged me $243.00 just for the capacitor(the service visit & Freon were extra). I later found the exact same part on Amazon for $23.00. A 953% markup. This is unconscionable. I won't be doing business with them again.

I have had a service contract for years with them and really never had a problem until the last year I've noticed they aren't the same. On the 29th of November my heat went out. $1600 later for 2 parts it worked until January 2nd. No heat again. Long story short guy on the 29th said he cleaned the electric filter but guy 2 ( January 2nd) said it hadn't been touched and that was the problem. Charged me again for service call and to clean filter $160.
Here it is January 5 and no heat again. Guy 3 comes out and says it's another part that is the problem (gas valve) and charge will be $500. Seriously? In today's time of social media companies are still operating like this? Needless to say my HOA website had 9 recommendations for another company that will be taking care of my units and possibly replacing them since my warranty ran out in November coincidentally. Just be warned. Everyone has been as nice as can be with Total but super shady business tactics.

Well, this will be an interesting review. I had a Trane system in my previous home with no issues in 8 years. Moved here, needed a Trane again and saw Total Air & Heat (a "family" business). Tip to self: I will be staying away from these businesses. Often the 2nd and 3rd generations are "cruising" off the founding parents. Okay, they installed two systems.
The installer was fired three months after he installed my system. Nice. Two visits after installation to clean up the attic of all the installation garbage the crew left. Honestly, they looked like high school kids (installer helpers). Additional visits to "fix" the thermostats. Was told it takes time to "break in". Whaat? Guess I looked to them like I was born that very morning!
Install manager came out several times to try and adjust dampers, which were located in the hardest places to reach, poor and lazy installation. I visited their office many times and was treated pretty much like I was an intruder. Got the feeling that it was all my fault for having a home that needed A/C. Final fun visit was with the service manager himself.
He went through the entire system and checked everything and said the thermostats needed to be calibrated. I asked the obvious question, "Should they not have been calibrated upon installation?" (it was the second set of thermostats they installed). Get ready for his answer. "Maybe they were in a hurry". Process that for a minute. The techs were in a hurry and could not bother with something they should do.
That silenced me. Fun and games over with. They had the temerity to send me a service contract for the next year. I went in with it and discuss the year-long difficulty I had with them. I spent $20K with them and was not going to give them a penny more. I told them I'd think about it. I looked for Trane techs here in Plano and found one. Devard's came out today and thoroughly went through my system and Carlos impressed me with his knowledge and most of all with his ability to communicate effectively and clearly. I signed with him. TA&H: Overpriced for what you get, service portions very small. Bland tasting company.

I have never had the pleasure of dealing with a Company this Professional and Honest! There are good companies out there with all types of services. However, there are VERY few as good as Total Air. From Jeff, who was my rep, to the installers. We put in a new AC and furnace recently. The best money we have spent in a while. They stand behind their work and are proud to be part of their Company.
We call them for any type of servicing on all three of our the units. Beware of companies that are "all service". In other, plumber, roofer, and candlestick maker! Stick with a company like Total Air. This is where their expertise is.and it shows! VERY HAPPY :

I've dealt with a lot of crappy warranty companies and several A/C companies since I have moved to North Dallas. I can tell you this! In my most desperate need, Total Air came through, and got my system running, so I would be comfortable even though it was after hours. Yes, I paid a little more, but it was fixed that night! The service Tech was knowledgeable, and the experience was 100 X better than I had experienced with the Home Warranty Jokers.
The warranty companies would schedule a tech to come out a day or two later, then he would tell me that he'd have to order a part, and then about 5 days later, my A/C was fixed (patched). With Total A/C they finished the job in 45 minutes! Promised to come back an check on it later in the next few weeks to make sure I was satisfied. I know I need a new system, as mine is so old and inefficient. I know I can trust Total Air to give me a great deal and top notch work on my installation. They are AWESOME! Top notch service and great technicians!

I needed to have an HVAC inspection to resolve a disagreement I was having with a seller on a recent real estate transaction. I called Total Air & Heat, and they were able to get me in the same day! The tech, Greg, was fantastic. He explained everything clearly (I know nothing about HVAC) and provided quotes for the essential items to be done as well as a list of things that I could do later on down the road.
I was very pleased with his professionalism, patience (he arrived early and had to wait on me to let him in) and general friendliness. He's coming back later this week to make the fixes. I'm happy I chose this company!

These folks say they charge $135 to same day diagnoses. Came out and told me the hvac was dead then charged $300. What's the extra for? It's not like you fixed anything. Then they came and quoted me over 10k for a new unit. I'm trying to work w my home warranty to get some of this paid for. They refuse to give me an itemized estimate of parts, labor, and permits.
With a price tag at nearly $10,000 you would think they would try and work with me on getting a detailed estimate. Instead they told my home warranty my unit was commercial so they denied my claim. Lies. Thanks for nothing. Rogues!

I would highly recommend this company to anyone that has heating or cooling issues in their home. Total Air and Heat completely took care of us and our 3 month old by loaning us a window unit until our new unit could be installed; this action alone makes me believe that family truly comes first for this company. While they were replacing our upstairs unit, they even checked our downstairs unit to ensure it was functioning properly.
At the time, it wasn't, but instead of ordering a part they came out another time to double check it to make sure it wasn't just trying to over compensate for the new unit. Come to find it was, so they defintely saved us some money from having to buy a new part. Thanks so much!
