Batton Plumbing is currently owned by Mark Hays. The company was originally owned by C J Godsey and opened its doors in the 1930's. The company specialized in older homes in the downtown area. Mr. Godsey was a man of work but also of poetry. As the president of the St. Petersburg Poetry Club he was known to come to work everyday in a suit and tie and read poetry to female customers while his plumbers did the repairs.Mr. Godsey's apprentice, Bob Wechtel took over the business and renamed the business from Godsey-Wechtel Plumbing to Wechtel Plumbing. Johnny Batton soon joined the business. Years later, after Mr. Wechtel retired, Mr. Batton took over the shop and renamed it Batton Plumbing.

Responded immediately to a broken, leaking toilet. They advised as to my options and were very helpful and knowledgeable. The installation team was courteous, efficient and professional. Service was prompt and professional by Robert. However, be sure to get an estimate in advance. We used Batton last year to replace a leaking hot water heater. Again, quick, professional and reasonably priced. However, we did not get estimate this time. Billed $349 to replace two water shut-off valves for washing machine. Parts should not have cost more than $20 and

This company is great! I've had three plumbers come out over the past 2 years for a slow draining shower, which they adviced tearing up the shower and re-piping it to "you just need to shop vac the setiment out every now and again". Batton plumbing was the only company that actually looked for the problem.a mouthwash cap stuck in the pea-trap. And came up with a creative solution to removing the cap. Their pricing is competitive and they came out promply. It's been a month, and the shower is still draining properly.

We are new to St. Pete and Batton plumbing was referred to us by several people so we knew we were on the right track. We were removing an old tank water heater and replacing it with a new tank-less. Our experience with the entire team (actually, the entire family!) was off the charts good! I cannot recommend them enough. Their professionalism, office-communication, attention to detail and all around 'care' for our home was top notch! Bottom line, they will be doing all my plumbing repairs and upgrades in the future.

Called a few weeks in need of a quote. Woman that picked up the phone was not polite, denied service and quote. I told her it was ok if she does not want my business I'd take it to somewhere else and I sure did to Billy's sunshine. And she said Yupp we don't want to take your business. This business needs Someone else to pick up the phones or you will lose many clients cause of the one they currently have answering.

We called them to replace a pipe and were not pleased. The guy (Rick I believe) looked around and gave quote of $400+. Needless to say, we sent him on his way after paying the $79.00 service call fee. I did the job myself in 20 minutes and with $10.65 in parts from the hardware store. It would be nice if we could call a professional without having to worry about getting scammed. Be sure to call a place with free estimates. These guys are making a killing without even having to do anything.

Batton Plumbing has done work for us on both our previous older home and our newer condominium in St. Pete. Their work has always been professional and courteous and we have no complaints about the quality of the work. They even came back to fix a follow-up problem at no cost. They have always been on time, are friendly and helpful, Highly recommended.
