I've been using Alpine Heating & AC since 2018. Cliff (the owner) has always been helpful & genuine to solve AC & Heating issue(s). In my case this week, my AC #2 unit which provide the cool/warm for 2nd floor level using the Nest thermostat which control this unit was out due to the error (e23) "no power to Rc wire detected" and since the AC was out 2 days prior and our local Austin weather in April was cool during in the evening so no AC was running until AC needed to running normal setting schedule then I found out from my Google Nest app that AC #2 was "off line".meaning no power, not charging the Nest thermostat then Nest has no battery to operate and communicate to WiFi. at first, I thought it is the Nest thermostats issue.
I the started troubleshooting by switching the RED Rc to RED RH port, still not work and thought I have a bad nest thermostat. I switched and unbox a brand new Nest thermostat but same error. So all these happen on a Sunday (which day #3 without AC) and I thought no one would work so I turned to you tube video. I guess each video show from different region in USA so AC configuration may be different.
In my case the furnace (part of the AC unit to control air flow) located in the attic and mentioned from the video was the AC drain got clogged up. My Furnace has 2 drainages, the primary drainage goes from my furnace to a pvc pipe to a below bathroom sink and the secondary drainage went to my out side below the eave of the 2nd floor roof and it was No clogged, dry and so my drainage pan below my furnace. Cliff advised me about the primary drainage that I didn't know about.
So spend at least 2-hrs there to clean out. It was dirty from previous replaced unit got rusted and tech didn't clean out and I wouldn't know. But still not work. Cliff send out the first visit (Monday / day#4 without AC) and the tech named Scotty and he did some measurements at the furnace and remove various wire connection to measure with his volt meter and realized intermittent power in/out then he went straight to my break panel located in my garage wall and advised me to required them electrician to replace a furnace faulty breaker. Scotty said it is NOT his job to touch anything outside of AC related and the breaker panel is one of them.
I got silent heart broken and can't figure out why because definitely my Furnace get intermittent on/off power and my AC guy is here and why not get the power back. (Day #5 without AC) @ 1pm appointment, the electrician arrived and confirm "it is NOT a breaker and no need to replace). He went to the furnace and tried to figure out about no power. There is a power on/off switch near by the furnace and open to take a look inside and there is a power wire was bare touch the contact due to the broken plastic piece to hold the screw and the wire in place, but whomever installed this switch way back in 1998 was supposed to loop the power wire and tie in w/ the screw and instead leave the straight wire between the screw and the plastic part.
The electrician replaced to a new switch and we get power to the furnace. Now, the furnace is running and blowing out just air (not a cool air). (Day #6 without cool AC) Cliff send out a 2nd team (Jose & Victor). Jose check the power reading at the outside compressor (which AC unit locate outside next to my home structure) and power reading there was good. Jose did some power measurements at the furnace and realized the 1st team (Scotty missed place the power line of the overflow sensor). Jose did a re-work and now cool air is blowing.
Because of the wrong connection Jose said the outside compressor did not running). Jose was nice enough to check and ok with my 2 units does not need additional Freon. Within 15min of visit. Jose able to get the cool AC blowing cool air). I just wished that Jose was the 1st team to visit and figure that would save us 2-days sooner with working AC. At the end Cliff was a helpful to me of communicate thru text and my bill was $125.00. Asked for CLiFF & Jose to solve y'all AC issues.

Our capacitor went out along with some switch and Alpine was highly recommended by our neighborhood Facebook group page. They called me the next morning and was at my house within a few hours. The gentleman did his thing and was able to diagnose the problem within minutes and was able to fix it within 15 minutes. The price was very reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend this company for your AC/heating needs.

The entire staff at Alpine were very professional and thorough from my initial conversation with Norma, to the follow up with Corey and the in-person interaction with the technicians. They did an excellent job of explaining what was happening and offered some repair options not leaving me with stuck with one expensive choice. I have never received the level of service provided by Alpine and I highly recommend them.

I shopped around to install a Dust Free Active Purifier. Corey was very responsive and offered the best quote. When I reached out weeks later after doing my cost research, he immediately responded and was able to get the installation service scheduled the following day-WOW! The tech, Scotty, who came out to install the device was on-time, professional and knew the product very well.
He took the time to show us in detail the installation performed and how to monitor the device. I was very impressed by Scotty and his willingness to interact the entire process with me. If you're looking for quality customer service and professional work, look no further than Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning.

I would like to compliment Alpine on their excellent customer service in making a situation right. Following the initial service call, we were pretty frustrated that the refrigerant recharge only lasted 24 hrs until the unit went out again. After expressing our concerns, Alpine explained the technician's decision yet was empathetic to our frustration. Needless to say, they refunded us for 50% of the tab which made us feel appreciated as a customer. Alpine will treat you right as they put the customer's interests ahead of their own. We recommend using Alpine if you want to be taken care of as a customer!

I would highly recommend Alpine Heating and Air Conditioning. They are so professional, knowledgeable and really listen to their customers. From taking time in the initial meeting to doing a final walk-through at the end of the job, Cliff was there to answer all questions and ensure quality work. He also didn't automatically try to talk us into getting a new system.
Instead he walked through options and phased approaches to work with our needs. The team showed up on time, was very respectful of our home, worked diligently and cleaned up after themselves. Value + quality + expertise. You can't go wrong with Alpine.

We're very happy with our decision to go with Alpine for our new AC. Ask me in 10 years if I still think they did a good job, but based on the bid process and installation, these guys get 5 stars. I'd describe them as clear, fair, honest, knowledgeable, and practical in their dealings. And super nice. We got five bids and their pricing hit right around the middle.
There is no upselling. Both Cliff, the owner, and Corey answered multiple rounds of questions and helped us pick out the right unit for our needs. Ruben, Jose, and Jordan did a great job on the install, and they took care to clean up afterwards. I would recommend Alpine to anyone needing a new HVAC.

I'm so happy I called Alpine for a quote when I knew my A/C unit was on its last legs. I had gotten quotes from other companies but was not comfortable with their pushy sales approach. Cliff didn't try to "sell" me anything. He gave me his recommendations then let me make the decision. I appreciate how honest and transparent they are. I will only use Alpine for my heating and air conditioning going forward!

Called Alpine with a major emergency on a Saturday. They Rock! And came right away. The technician helped diagnose the real issue which was electrical breaker failure and we were able to get that resolved. I am thankful for the honesty and integrity of this company. They did the right thing and now have a customer for life.

Corey and the team at Alpine were perfect. 1. They were immediately available, coming out the day after I called. 2. They found the problem asap & corrected it without leaving for unnecessary parts and additional labor. 3. They sent me a bill electronically and didn't yell at me when I paid it late by mistake. In short, they were prompt, honest, and understanding. 10 of 10 would use again. Thanks!

This 5-star review is based on two different jobs with Alpine, and I could not recommend them more. We moved this past year into a house with two very old ACs. As expected, one went out a few months ago. I got multiple bids and Alpine hit near the middle. We chose them primarily for their customer service--they respond promptly to everything and answer all questions and concerns thoroughly, and they do not try to upsell you.
They did a good job all around and our new unit has been cooling well. Then last Friday, our other unit went out. It's probably 35+ years old. They were able to fix it with a new fan for a very reasonable price vs. the many thousands we'd need for a new unit. While we know this machine won't last forever, we certainly appreciate having an HVAC company that will keep it running for us as long as possible.

Alpine have been a pleasure to deal with throughout the time I have been working with them. They regularly service HVAC units at my home and rental property for me, and have made various minor repairs along the way, as well as installing a complete new system in one rental unit. Their service is consistently prompt, efficient and courteous, and their pricing is always fair.
They are always willing to discuss their work in detail, and explain what they are doing and how their pricing is calculated. But just recently they really, really came through for me: I received a text on Friday morning from a tenant letting me know that their HVAC was not working. The daytime temperature at present is 95-100 degrees, so that was never going to be a good thing.
But these particular tenants were going to be hosting family at their home that very evening for a rehearsal dinner prior to their Saturday wedding. aaaaaagh! I called Alpine at about 7:30 a.m. and had a callback from Norma by around 8:00. By 9:30 a.m. one of their techs (I think it was Jose - he is The Man so far as I am concerned) had been out, replaced a failed capacitor and life was returning to normal. And the price for that emergency call out could not have been more reasonable. This company totally gets my vote every time! Thank you, Alpine!

Our 21 year old ac system had some major issues in the middle of COVID19. Alpine did a super fast, extremely reasonable new system for us. They came in more than $3500 cheaper (for a slightly better system) than another company who apparently uses hard sell tactics to pay for their TV commercials. I can't say enough good things about Alpine. Awesome local business.

These guys are honest, professional and fast! They saved me from being tricked into buying a new $8000 HVAC system. When my AC went out in the peak of summer, Radiant tried to take advantage and lied about the age of my system. Alpine was not only honest about it being a small repair, but they proactively checked to see that the part was under warranty and fixed it the next day within an hour. Corey was very responsive and the owner himself came out for a follow up the following day.

I was having a recurring problem with a vent "sweating". After several unsuccessful attempts to address problem, Corey Thrash sent his best engineer and team to seal up area around vent where hot and cold air met. He did not charge me for any service call, time and/or materials. This is an old school business, based on trust and principles. I will be a loyal Alpine customer for as long as I live in Austin.

The virtually impossible was pulled off by this great small family business. We have a rather old home and one of our units died in a part of the attic that is rather difficult to get to. There is an 8ft drop down on our two level attic. See picture. From the beginning Corey assessed options and produced a confident solution to replace our old power draining unit that the blower eventually went out. Cliff the owner came by as well with extra assurance that the job could be done. Alpine showed up promptly at 7am with Jose, Tony, and crew and tackled mission impossible.
As with my previous experiences I did have an anxiety with the inevitable "well we have a problem." but that never happened. They were here all day as promised and it was the smoothest install experience given the challenge. I honestly thought it would take longer than a day. They went the extra mile and did some rather large cleanup left behind by past work in the attic.
Small family businesses are often overshadowed by the bigger companies but hands down, I'll be using Alpine without question for any future maintenance and replacement of our other units. Good things should happen to good people and this is a fine family run HVAC company. Give Corey, Cliff, Jose and team a chance and you will be writing a review like this.

My wife and I used Alpine to replace our A/C 7 years ago when we purchased our first home and again yesterday in our new home. We received the same great service and value that we experienced the first time around. Cliff (owner) comes out to each job personally to assess your current setup and give recommendations on the best possible replacement units.
They walked us through the proposals and helped us make an educated decision. His team came out quickly, did an excellent job while on the property, cleaned up all materials, and ensured everything was properly working before leaving. Two days in and the house couldn't feel better. Trustworthy company made up of trustworthy and knowledgeable people. Highly recommend.

We're now 2.5 years into our project. After much protesting that the moisture issue wasn't from pouring the slab onto existing and active waterlines (see below), it turned out that it was. And, now 4 months or so after that was remediated, we have had no moisture issues. When all signs pointed to an external source of moisture into the slab, both Mend Services and Alpine blamed us for the problem. We recommend to avoid this vendor.

These guys seemed really nice, but I feel I really have to give a review as a warning. I called them out for the Austin Energy improvements and HVAC replacement rebate program but afterwards I was told that they don't do energy improvements, like I had sprung it on them last minute? Then it was suggested I go with a unit that was oversized by 1/2 ton and not reseal the ducts or balance the system (and no leak test).
The efficiency would be poor and we would continue to have the same issues as we have with our aging HVAC. I'm really sorry to give a bad review, but if we would have done what was suggested it would have been poor decision. It didn't help that the contractor also chided the Austin heritage tree ordinance, which I actually support strongly (but I digress, that is not the reason for the low review). *edit* Alpine Heating & Air Conditioning asked me to remove this review.
I felt a little bit bad, but then again they did give me pretty bad advice. Then Alpine Heating sent me several more emails when I said I didn't think it was fair that I had to first pay 5k for the system before possibly being unhappy with it. So I'm upping it a star. Three stars, an A-ok business. You don't deserve it though.

If you are shopping around and getting quotes like I did.just stop. I used these guys once to install a float switch and was very pleased with their service. A couple years later I needed a new HVAC system so I decided to play it safe and call around different contractors for quotes but the result was the same; Alpine offered me the best product and at the lowest cost.
Everyone else was about $300-$600 higher. If competitors offered the same price as Alpine, it was for a "lower" product. Besides the price and products, they have excellent customer service. I would highly recommend this crew to anyone. Very professional! Corey is great and Emmanuel is a worker! This is the same for their entire staff. I just didn't get their names unfortunately.

These guys are great and do honest work at fair prices. Our AC started blowing hot air over a holiday weekend. Cliff was able to get a guy out to look at it and he was able to refill the refrigerant which took care of the problem. He also identified a slow leak in the condenser causing it to start to freeze over, but said the refrigerant refill would take care of it.
Both the technician and Corey called me back after the service to follow up on things. I was concerned because of the leak, but Corey suggested to see if it's staying cold after the refill and to not spend the money now trying to chase down a slow leak. It's been a couple of months and the AC is working fantastic. I'm glad they were honest about my options and not just default to fixing or replacing something that wasn't needed right now. We've used Alpine multiple times over the years and each time they have shown professional and competent service. They've also replaced all the ductwork from our old house built in the 80s. If you need quality HVAC work, these are your guys.

Alpine services our pre-school building and they always show up right away and get the units repaired quickly. They also installed the units in our addition and they clean our units once every few years. I'd definitely recommend them. Jose always takes the time to show me the parts that are broken and when it isn't a major issue, he shows me simple things I can do to get the units running until they can get there. Very helpful!

We used Alpine to replace our old HVAC system (both condenser unit and furnace) and had a great experience. Before calling Alpine, I had another company come out to estimate the cost of replacing our HVAC. The other company was much larger and made me feel like one of many customers ("please expect a technician between noon and 5pm" for example) With Alpine on the other hand, I felt like I had a direct line to both Cliff and Corey (owners/managers) of the business.
They were empathetic to our situation, professional, and helpful. All of their employees were also a joy to work with - very polite and professional. I will always use and recommend Alpine for any future needs. Keep up the good work guys!

I've had these guys out twice. Both times had a great experience. The first time lightning struck nearby and blew out our AC and these guys came out and fixed it. The second time my line clogged up from the AC and they came out to blow it clean. Even explained I didn't need them for this chore and how to do it myself in the future. Reasonable prices and good service. Norma who answers the phone is efficient and helpful. Thank you!

We came home to an 83 degree home. We have an 8mo old baby, and a 4year old. Needless to say, hot beds don't make for happy babies! We needed a fix, and it was at the end of the day. These guys jumped on it for us. Within 20 minutes I had a technician named Daniel at my door. He was very professional, courteous, quick, and explained our problem to us very clearly.
He fixed us up, and before bedtime, the house was a cool 72! Can't say enough good things about this company, and the great people they have working there. Great team! I've used them in the past, and I'll use them again!

I am so relieved that I called Alpine Heating and A/C. Cliff had done some work for us in the past. We were so happy with his quality of work I didn't hesitate to contact him when water started dripping from our ceiling. It was late, around 6:30 p.m. at night, and I spoke with Corey. He was great assuring me that it was probably a clogged pipe.

Our AC went out during the hottest time of the year - and we had a newborn less than a week old at home. Cory at Alpine was very sympathetic and sent out a tech immediately to fix our problem. We were so grateful for the fast service and the very reasonable price we were charged. We will definitely call Alpine in the future and highly recommend them. Thank you to Cory and everyone at Alpine!

Only four reviews with five stars for an AC repair place?! Just can't be true, can it? Well, it is true! My wife and I are totally blown away with the awesome service we received from Alpine. We noticed that our outside condenser unit would only switch on intermittently when the air came on during the week, then it stopped working completely one Thursday evening.
I called up Alpine Friday morning and spoke to Cliff (one of the owners) and he was able to send his tech, Juan, before noon. Cliff quoted around $120 bucks. Other places we called that morning were quoting $150 to $300 for the same symptoms. Turns out all that was wrong was a blown relay switch that was fixed in under five minutes. Juan was very helpful and showed us the old and new parts.
He looked over our entire unit and checked the freon level all with a big smile and great sense of humor. We cannot express how pleased we are with Juan, Cliff, and Corey over at Alpine. Parts and service charges totaled under their estimate of $120 bucks! We've already recommended them to a few of our friends.
