I've had 2 full HVAC system installs completed with Byrd Heating and Air Conditioning. Their sales and service teams are great. One of the jobs was difficult because it was an older home without any existing duct work. They were able to give us clear guidance on what we needed to do to prepare the home for the installation and helped us along the way.

As someone who works in the trade industry myself I've ran into difficult customers on occasion. As a customer I've never came across someone who was rude or condescending that was performing work at my residence. Now I can say I have. I've had Byrd out numerous times this year and spent a good deal of money. I've had excellent customer service from every tech who has been out, hence a 5 star review that has now been edited to 2.
I was told that there was nothing he can do and we have to deal with our AC not getting below 73. That's fair, but I will get a second opinion just to be sure. The problem is he told my wife that mid 70s indoor temps is perfectly fine for our 1and 4 year olds that sleep upstairs (sudden infant death syndrome can be related to temps over 72!). I got home and went outside to greet him. Asked if he's been upstairs in the attic to check that unit.
His response was: If I know better than him he can take me up there and I can show him where the problem is. I should have kicked him of my property at that point. I don't want or need to argue with someone that I'm paying to be there. I just treated him like I would a difficult client and killed him with kindness. Other techs such as James and previous employees were great and deserve 5 stars.
The gentlemen who was last at my property deserves one star and is not welcome back. I will be calling to request that next time (if there is) to send someone else. It takes months to find a customer and seconds to lose one!

After being out of town for several days, on night we returned home found our 1yr old A/C system not operating Frustration and agony because Savannah in middle of extreme heat wave. After getting no response from repetitive calls to installation co. I called Byrd. They immediately returned my call, scheduled appt that day. James, their technician was excellent. Arrived on time, honestly and clearly explained the problem and fixed it.
When A/C again went out, promptly returned, did a complete repair at no extra charge, and then followed up with both a text and phone call to make sure no further problems. Ethical, took great pride in his work, and did excellent job at reasonable price. Highly recommended! Will call Byrd from now on. Thanks, Jim Dennis Savannah, GA

To my experience Byrd employees are knowledgeable, honest and professional in their duties. I called a company "T & T" to come look at our used A/C unit when it wouldn't blow cold after it was installed. They told me that everything from my zone control board to my dampers to my thermostats needed to be replaced and it would be $3k. But they were looking out for me doing it for $2700.
I called Byrd for a second opinion, I told him what "T&T"said and Byrd's tech looked at things for 30mins told me it was wired wrong, he wired it correctly and I was charged service fee and labor. Thousands less than Thompson and Thompson. I will call Byrd before I call anyone else from now on because I know they aren't trying to get over on people for their lack of knowledge.

We've used Byrd for a couple years now and have had the same technician every time. We have never had an issue with the technician at all. However, this weekend a part in the system broke and we called the weekend hotline in which the on call technician did not have that part in his vehicle. When called this morning the call screener was rude when asked if there is another time the technician can come out to fix the issue. Would give a 1 star if not for the technician that was always professional.

Very professional and diligent installers and technicians. Before switching to Byrd I had used another HVAC firm in Savannah for 15 years and there is no comparison. What a difference the expert installers and technicians at Byrd have made in keeping my HVAC system running optimally optimally. The Carrier infinity system is great. Services: Heating system installation, HVAC system maintenance

Travis, this companies technician literally and intentionally ran the price up on me for a simple repair. He tried to upsale me for a new heating system that ran for $7,800 up to $10,000 that's 16x-21x times what I paid for. I called another company that repaired not only my heating but also my AC unit for $490 total. Do not order service from this company, a complete ripoff.

It turned out that I had a complicated repair but I can't thank Byrd enough for their customer service. The parts were out of stock but given the supply problems these days, probably nothing much they could do about that. The technicians were very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend Byrd.

The HVAC technician from Bryd arrived on time and got right to work. He is the same one who helped install the new HVAC last summer. When he was finished, I felt confident that he looked everything over carefully as he shared a detailed report with me. I can always trust Byrd to stand by their work and their product. I will continue to call Bryd because they do a fantastic job.

Since I made an appointment for maintenance I had to wait a few weeks for the appointment, which tells me that repairs are priority which I appreciate! They were very professional, checked everything out and gave us an update on our unit. They were on time and came when they said they would at the price they quoted. I would totally recommend.

As another consumer posted here, they were the first to respond to the call on a weekend. Down hill from there, really fast. Just a total rip job. They're only after your money. OK, so I have an old condenser unit still running R22, but the compressor and air handler are fairly new. The guy proceeds to tell me R22 is no longer made (which I all ready knew).
He never mentioned that there are stockpiles available for roughly $269 per 5lb. can. He then proceeds to COERCE me by saying that he will only charge my system if I agree to Install a new 2.5 ton Carrier Heat pump system from him to the tune of $7000+. If I agreed to that, then he would not charge me to fill my system for $150 a pound with Freon. Wait.
It gets better. I'm at work, on the phone with him and the wife is in the house and has no clue what's take place. Me: So you're telling me that you cannot charge my system unless I buy a new unit? Him: Yes, because R22 is no longer made. Me: So you do have some! How low is the unit. Him: Very low, about 3 or 4 lbs. and it's $150 a lb. ($269 / 5 lb can.
You can google that.) Me: So just charge it and I'll pay you for that! Him: Well I can't guaranty how long that will last. Oh wait, I hear a leak, It has a bad leak, I can hear Freon leaking out. Me: Well were is the leak coming from? (This is where I really get screwed) Him: Well I don't know. I'm not gonna test it. We don't test older systems.
That will be a $209 service charge please. I did get a written quote for that. $7159.08 for a new Carrier 2.5 ton Heat Pump system. They're really expensive now he says. Totally my fault for letting this scam artist near my house. So I just priced a 2.5 ton AirQuest heat pump system (made by quest who. Carrier) with a 14 SEER rating, Including a 15 kw, 51,000 btu backup heater coil for $2382 with free shipping. I will buy it and you can bet money Byrd's will never install or service it. If you decide to use this company, do so at your own risk!

Long story short my husband and I closed on our home on Friday. The air was messed up and the temperature would not go down past 80 degrees. We had one person from a different company come on Saturday night to "fix the problem" which wasn't fixed at all and screwed us out of $150. We tried contacting him again Sunday morning and he totally ignored us. Clay came Sunday afternoon and actually took the time and went in the attic to find the problem unlike the other guy.
He was very knowledgeable and explained to us what happened. Our air is fixed and we will continue using this company if we ever come across a problem again. Highly recommend.

This was our first time using Byrd's. The upper air unit went out on Memorial Day weekend. Josh responded to our call almost immediately. He was at our house within 30 minutes. He was kind, courteous, knowledgeable and so friendly! He took the time to show us what the issue was and explained things to us well. He was so kind and patient with us. He did an amazing job and we are so pleased and thankful!
We will definitely be using Byrd Heating & Air Conditioning if we need help in the future. Would recommend you to any and all in need! Thank you for the great service, Josh! You're a true master of your craft!

We have 2 AC units that supply our home. One of them was acting up so I called on a weekend. They came out with in a couple hours of my call. The tech was polite, knowledgeable, and had our unit running in no time. The prices were absolutley fair for emergent weekend work. That night the unit quit again. They had someone out straight away the next day. I will most definatly be calling them for any of my HVAC needs.

Worse air conditioning option in the Savannah area. They installed a new system in my sons starter home just 3.5 years ago, my son has had to call for service 3 times since new costing over $1000. Because of the cost already invested in Byrd, he elected to get an independent technician to come see why his air is not cooling. Found that his 3.5 year old Carrier coils are leaking massively.
The tech does not work on Carrier, so he told he would have to use an authorized Carrier technician. Called Byrd again, and he was quoted $80 to come to his house, $120 to reverify the coils are leaking, and then $800 labor to replace the coils "Under Warranty". That would be a total of $2000 invested in a 3.5 year old system. People buy starter homes because they are establishing themselves and can't always afford this type of maintenance costs. He's borrowing money to have a new Rheem system installed for around $3000. Stay away from Bryrd and stay away from Carrier. Two TERRIBLE options.

Called and talked to a pleasant young lady at the call center. However when I spoke to the on call technician he was less than enthusiastic about helping me. Granted it was in the afternoon on a Friday and I would have to pay an after hours fee ( which he made the comment over and over) I finally ended the call without having him come out. Called another company instead who was more than happy to have my business.

Exceptional service! Came out to the house in a flash. The office staff is very knowledgeable, the lady I spoke with was friendly and troubleshooted the problem. The technician pulled up at my house. Introduced himself as Sam. He did a brief inspection of the thermostat. And proceeded to the unit outside. He was outside for about a 20 mins came back and told me what the deal was.
In an hour we where cooling off! Before he left I asked him how long he had been with the company and he stated 22 years. I have dealt with all of the big name companies in savannah. And I must say Byrd heating and air conditioning is the best. From the initial call to the to the tech leaving was a great experience. Thank you Byrd heating and air conditioning. For being the best experience we r have had. We have found our permanent ac company.

I had a terrific experience with Byrd. We swapped out two older units last year with new units, and I just replaced the two other older units this month. In both instances, Matthew Chance was a pleasure to deal with. He was professional, punctual, and made the whole process easy. Brandon and Travis, the installers, did a wonderful job with both the external and internal jobs. Highly recommend!
