At Longhorn Solar, we offer residential and commercial solar electric design and installation. Longhorn Solar began 17 years ago as Longhorn Services. Power couple Lynn and Louis Petrik began Longhorn Services as a lawn-care business but as the popularity of solar electricity grew, they developed a passion for solar power and renewable energy in general.
After training and certification, and with a few successful projects under their belts - Longhorn Services officially incorporated Longhorn Solar in 2009. Since then, Longhorn Solar has installed over 1,000 solar photovoltaic systems that produce over 16 million kWh, helping our customers save almost $2 MILLION off of their utility bills.

After speaking with Danny at Longhorn today it's my understanding that my solar system should now be back up and running. I have decided to amend my prior review as he took the time to talk to me about all the things regarding my case and listen to the issues I have been having. One thing I am understanding of is that there have been major issues with Solar Edge - getting replacement parts and such.
That I can understand. What I'm less forgiving of and can't understand is why the communication throughout the process has been so poor. A few members of their team were responsive - Dorlisa was great! I really appreciate her help. Richard was great too, initially, then evidently went on a vacation unbeknownst to me and I was continuing to email him multiple times getting no response over multiple weeks (I would recommend setting up an auto-email response that you're out of office when you're taking leave, would have saved me more compounding frustration over the situation as a whole), Danny has also been appropriate and responsive. However, Jessica McNeil was the initial person I contacted regarding my issues and communication with her was incredibly terrible and honestly set this whole ball in motion as to why I felt the need to create an initial poor yelp review. I'd like to think things will change, but given other recent reviews talking about poor communication this seems to be a pattern. I hope for future customers and my own sake that the company can make the changes in staffing they need to to have good communication be a standard for their customer base.

We had our solar panels installed and it went very well. We ordered the batteries at the same time and it has not gone as smooth. They installed the batteries 30+ days ago and attached them to the house which is step 1 of 3 steps before they will will work. The account manager for me never calls me. She committed to call me on Fridays with an update.
I call every week for an update and she tells me she will call me on the following Friday. She never follows up and never remembers what stage my project is in. We were so excited to work with a local company and it has been very frustrating.

It is going on two years now that we have our solar panels. In that time, we've had to file six support calls. Four times for faulty cell cards. Twice for complete failure of the system. The support team is understaffed and has to support faulty equipment. Response times are measured in weeks, not days. Overall, a very disappointing experience for such a large investment. Just had the solaredge inverter replaced. New unit lasted exactly six hours and it broke. In the two years I've had the system, it's been down for three months.

Longhorn Solar installed on 09-09-19 The cell card inverter keeps malfunctioning You have to monitor the progress if all inverter ate producing solar, I have to call for service 5 times to replace cell card for the inventor after spending 65k after tax credit Out of 4 inventors only 3 work most of the time The company does not ignore the service call, but it takes almost 3 weeks plus ton address the issue and most importantly considering this Solar system around 2.5 yr old if it's causing so much problem now, I am concern as the system get old it will be mostly nonfunctional Sales dept is great, product can be better, service can can be faster

My initial installation went well. I felt like they were knowledgeable and honest. Ever since then, the communication and reliability has been terrible. A simple email or call rarely gets a response when I need service. I usually wait several days and email or call again. Usually I give up or wait several weeks to get a reply. Often they will not show up for appointments and do not bother to call to say they need to reschedule or will be late. Today, I even called to ask if they were still coming for an appointment after waiting 2 hours, I was told I would get a call back.
They never got back to me. Unfortunately, the system that Longhorn Solar originally installed for me was made by SolarBridge. SolarBridge was bought out by another company. Soon afterwards my main inverter and control panel went bad, and the new Solar component manufacturer did not honor the 25 year warranty that I had with Solar Bridge. So, I had to replace 32 micro-inverters and the main unit at my own cost to keep my system going after just a few years. Longhorn Solar honored their 10 year labor warranty and installed the new components without charging me labor.
I don't blame them for the loss, and I appreciate that they did install the new components without charging me labor. I guess I assumed that based on what happened to me, they would at the very least respond promptly to my issues, since good service was all they had left to offer. Anyway, I recommend you look elsewhere for solar installation and service.

The whole process, from initial inquiry to final decision, was pleasant and professional. Ronald took the time to walk us through their project proposals twice over zoom, and responded to a number of follow-up questions we had. The sales presentation included an appropriate amount of detail that allowed us to make informed choices. Although we ultimately decided to go with another company for our solar project, I would not hesitate to consider Longhorn in the future.

Despite my circumstances changing after my initial inquiry that prohibits me from moving forward with LONGHORN SOLAR's proposals, I wanted to express gratitude for KATHY MILLEN's support. She patiently clarified multiple "What-if." questions and adjusted configurations across several calls and Zoom sessions exploring not only the pros/cons of various technology options, but also how very recent utility regulatory changes would negatively affect my original project investment's goals.
By the end - her straightforward approach was more a respectful mutual discovery process than targeting me as a "sale to close" (as I'm way to accustomed to). I highly encourage anyone considering solar for their home to find Kathy Millen at Longhorn Solar.

Full disclosure: i have only signed the contract, will update it later if it needs updating after the install. Overall i am happy with the salesperson (kathie millen). Longhorn was a tad more expensive than other companies (between $400-$600) for the same product, but longhorn has more years in the game. Also i had coworkers that had longhorn install panels on their roof reach out to me letting me know they loved their experience with them.
In regards to my salesperson, she has been great. I ask a lot of questions, like a lot. And all of them has been answered in a timely matter. She replies even at night, which for me at work is a no-no. That is some dedication if i have seen any. The onsite inspector was quick and easy. Took pictures of the garage and the electrical panel and then left outside to take pics of the roof with the drone.
Overall they needed for about 10 mins and the rest they did. The price they gave me says it includes everything including permits and and contacting my HOA. Once it's installed we will see how accurate it is (coworker's say it is). Ps. For what it matters, if you find this useful and want to reach out, please do. All i ask is if i was helping if you want to use me as a referral and i can buy a coffee with it. Regardless i dont mind answering questions if you would like to ask, referral or not.

Louis, the CEO of Longhorn, has been committed to solving the issues I addressed in my original review. He has been very communicative and on top of working with the manufacturer to arrange a refund of the battery. Based on that positive experience I am giving Longhorn another chance, and am moving forward with Longhorn to install a battery system from Tesla. I trust that Longhorn is committed to doing right by its customers, and, as in my case, correcting mistakes when they happen.

TLDR: I purchased a very expensive solar + battery storage system from Longhorn this year. They misrepresented the installation timeframe and stock when selling the system. They were months late installing the system and uncommunicative in the interim. The battery they installed has broken three times with at least a month of unresponsive communication and broken promises before fixing it each time.
I have used several work days and tens of hours of my time trying to get support. My system is again broken over the Christmas holiday. I would strongly recommend potential customers look elsewhere for their solar or energy storage needs. In the spring of 2021 I started contacting companies about adding to my existing array of solar panels, as well as adding a battery storage system.
After getting quotes from a number of companies I decided to go with Longhorn Solar. The system I decided to buy from Longhorn included a Sonnen EcoLinx, a large and nearly $40,000 battery. When evaluating different companies, I was assured by LongHorn's customer representative Kathie Millen, that installation would be around two weeks post-contract signing and they had stock for the battery.
After committing and making initial payments per the contract, I had very little communication from Longhorn and it was unclear what the status of my installation would be. I signed the contract on March 26th. My system would not be fully installed until June 23rd, nearly three months later. During that installation, which took two full days and part of an additional day, workers damaged a track for my garage door (they fixed it after being notified) and caused numerous power surges in my house trying to get the battery online.
In the interim from initial purchase to installation, Longhorn was evasive in communicating. I was never given firm timelines, nor initially told why there was a monthslong delay. I only later learned that they didn't have stock for the battery when they sold the system to me and misrepresented its availability even after admitting to that fact.
Since installation the battery has been broken for about as long as it has been operating. The battery first stopped functioning on August 6th and I notified Longhorn of the issue on August 8th. Over the next several weeks, Longhorn representatives made several promises to look into or address the issue, including promises of callbacks, all of which were broken.
I was left to periodically email each week them for lack of any update from them. On September 13th I received a call directly from Sonnen from a technical support representative. The call was not scheduled and I had no idea it would occur before receiving it. At no point did Longhorn send an individual to diagnose issues with the battery or support its fix.
I was left to work with the Sonnen representative over two hours to get the battery operational again. Only after having received the call from Sonnen did Longhorn reach out to confirm that Sonnen support would/had called to support the issue, five weeks after it had been reported. The battery operated normally until October 7th when it stopped charging/discharging again.
I notified Longhorn of the issue on October 12th. Longhorn again made promises of support and communication, then went weeks without updates. I finally was given a time, November 11th, when David Shumate, Longhorn's installation supervisor, would be on-site to repair the battery. After taking off work and clearing my schedule, and again over a month since the battery was last operational, David failed to show for the appointment.
I wasn't contacted in advance or after about the missing appointment. After contacting Longhorn I was given an excuse for the missed appointment and an indefinite timeframe when it could be rescheduled. At this point I started exploring legal options for resolving issues with Longhorn. I have filed a still active consumer complaint with the Texas Office of the Attorney General and contacted Longhorn's CEO, Louis Petrik, directly. Louis was very apologetic for the communication issues and the months that the battery had been broken.
My service appointment was rescheduled for November 16th and this time David arrived and was able to fix the battery. I am writing this on December 29th, two days after the battery stopped working yet again. I have lost all faith in Sonnen or Longhorn and would strongly recommend potential customers look elsewhere for their solar or energy storage needs.

I was in the market for solar panels, and spoke with no less than 5 different companies. Longhorn Solar was the most honest and straightforward of them all. Their initial evaluation returned that my home was not a good candidate for solar due to the trees on our property. At first I thought, "That could not be correct. I had already spoken to multiple solar panel companies, and they all provided me with quotes." One company even said our home was a "unicorn" - meaning we had great sun exposure on our roof, and we would be silly not to move forward to install solar panels. Monte at Longhorn Solar spent his valuable time and energy explaining how my other consults were incorrect (faulty designs, didn't take into consideration local design / safety considerations), and he even went back to their master designer to confirm his initial assessment. Remember, at this time, Monte already knew our home wasn't a good candidate, so he wasn't going to make money from this additional care and service.
After about a week of correspondence, the master designer came back with the same conclusion - we should not invest in solar panels (unless we want to cut down a few trees). I was thoroughly impressed with the integrity and service provided by Longhorn Solar. Because of Monte and his team, I did not waste money on a useless investment. If I ever decide to knock down a few trees, I know who I will be contacting for solar panels. Thank you Monte and Longhorn Solar!

Longhorn Solar puts up ads that allow comments then deletes those comments, brilliant! They don't want the truth. More of the PV solar scam. You won't save money with all of those hidden cradle to grave costs and responsibilities of being the power plant owner and operator. Leasing and PPA's have their own group of hidden costs and responsibilities.
You won't save the planet with all of the unregulated mining, refining, and manufacturing done with slave labor and coal fired power in China and Asia. That is why they are cheap. They will tell you PV solar and batteries are manufactured in another country but the raw material and components still come from China. We are turning our power generating industry over to China.
All of those micro wind and PV solar systems are internet connected and controlled. China or other bad actors can shut down or destroy our power grid at any moment! How about holding China accountable by not buying or investing in Chinese products. China uses more fossil fuels than the rest of the world combined. 58% of it energy comes from coal, 20% from oil.
We claim to be cleaning up the world by going green with Chinese components. China uses 10 times more coal than Japan, 4 times more than #2 India, 6 times more than the US, 100 times more than the Philippines. The coal in China is heavily contaminated with radioactive elements that are let into the environment. China is building new coal plants at home and around the world.
This coal fired energy is how they make so called cheap "green" products like PV solar, wind turbines, and lithium batteries. Then we say renewables include burning biomass (waste paper, agricultural biomass, and wood) for energy and heat and they are carbon neutral? While spending billions on carbon capture instead of using that biomass as solid captured carbon. Sending 60%+ carbon plastics to landfills along with other high carbon material to be let to rot into methane and co2. Co2 is only 27% carbon and 73% oxygen, what a waste to store carbon in that form.

I had a wonderful experience with Longhorn Solar. They did a great job educating me about their services and product and were not pushy at all (unlike the other solar providers I talked to). They have a personal point of contact for the whole project that helped me and promptly responded to my questions. They handled all the paper work and even the AustinEnergy rebate process. Installation was quicker than expected and my results are great! I haven't had an electric bill in months. I would highly rate Longhorn Solar and their East Austin team led by James K.

Customer Service is lacking here. They seem disorganized and have a hard time with follow through with their customers. We bought a new house with solar panels already installed by Longhorn, and we had poor customer service from the very start as as we tried to work through the process of getting the panels generating electricity. Longhorn didn't seem to know what their own role was, and where the city needed to take over as we worked through the steps.
After a few months of back and forth, we got the the panels to start generating, but we had two periods shortly thereafter where the system stopped communicating the solar generation back to our online account. Again, both times in dealing with Longhorn customer service team members, there was a lot of confusion and lack of follow through. Emails seem to always get "lost", and then apologized for, but then again not returned.
And talking to someone directly on the phone wasn't any better. The customer services folks were nice, but never had answers and "promised to get back." I'd estimate the response rate for emails and phone calls around 50%.

We have been big fans of Longhorn Solar since the very beginning. When we first started this process, we had gotten a few bids for our potential system and Longhorn had the lowest bid out of any of the other companies. Of course the other bidders were willing to match Longhorn's pricing, but I appreciated that Longhorn gave us the most competitive pricing from the get-go.
Even though we have had our panels for 4 years, we continue to get the absolute best service from them - they follow up on our system and check in every so often to make sure we are still happy with out system. It's been a great experience and a lot of our neighbors have also used them for their service, dependability and fair pricing.

I've had my solar panels for five years. Longhorn Solar staff has always been very responsive and helpful. They make sure my panels are working properly and arrive on time for any appointments. All the staff, in office (Michelle Walker) and in the field (James Knittel), have been professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them if you are considering installing solar panels.

We have now had our solar panel system since May 2018 and are so happy we took the leap. We have enjoyed working with Bryan - he is very professional and patient. In addition, we could not of made a better choice! Solar panels is something I have wanted to have for many years and the timing was great as we moved into our new home. I love seeing the daily savings and really am happy to be doing something positive for the environment! Longhorn Solar is a great company and the entire process was smooth! Carolyn & Seth Swearingen

We chose Longhorn Solar and are quite happy with our choice. The customer service has been great and everything was done in an efficient manner. They also do a good job and reaching out over the years to ensure that everything is working at an optimal level. All of the staff members and just recently James have all been kind and helpful. We never felt like they have been pushy, they seem genuine to want to provide a good service. I highly recommend Longhorn Solar.

We got our panels installed less than a week ago and our system is already up and running. Bryan did a great job explaining the numbers and financing. They did reschedule our install last minute, so it's important to keep in mind stuff like that can come up. Kelli did an amazing job keep us informed and getting us all the paperwork. She even basically handled the HOA stuff! She was awesome. The install crew was on time, quick, and courteous. Overall a pretty good job.

Longhorn Solar and Bryan Kerr were amazing to work with. When other companies didn't respond, Bryan was very responsive and helpful, throughout the project. The installation crew from Longhorn Solar was professional, neat, and did amazing work. All-in-all it was a great experience and we love our new solar system from Longhorn Solar.

Longhorn Solar made the purchase of our solar system easy from start to finish. Their price was competitive. They handled everything for us. They submitted our application to the HOA for the "modification" approval. They obtained all required permits. They handled everything with Austin Energy. Our 12 panels and the associated equipment were installed in 3 hours!
Their 25-year performance guarantee, along with the warranties of the panel and inverter manufacturers, provide peace of mind. It was a pleasure working with Thomas Cunningham and Project Manager Kellie Corzine. I would recommend Longhorn Solar to anyone.

I have my solar panels for just over a year now. I had gotten a number of quotes and all were relatively competitive, so money was not the deciding factor. I dealt with Bryan Kerr at Longhorn Solar and felt comfortable with him and therefore the company. There was no "pushy" sales, just factual information and critical dates given. The company was very responsive as I had questions before I decided if I was going to actually purchase.
After purchasing, the installation was done quickly and professionally with full clean-up upon completion. After installation, I was contacted to make sure I understood the various billings I would receive and to make sure I was happy. Several months went by and I received a reminder to make sure I applied for the credit I would get from the IRS.they did not want me to miss out.
They also sent me copy of everything I would need when filling my taxes so that there was so delay or problem. That bit of extra was very much appreciated. I have been extremely happy with the friendliness, extra effort, timeliness and professionalism shown by Longhorn Solar and I would recommend them to anyone in the market for solar panels in the Austin area.
Just thought I should mention in closing, that I have not had to pay an electric bill in almost a year, since about 2 months after the solar panels were installed. I could not be happier! thank you Longhorn Solar and Bryan Kerr.
After purchasing, the installation was done quickly and professionally with full clean-up upon completion. Highly recommend longhorn solar! We were choosing between a couple different companies and they were the most responsive and had a really good working relationship with the city of Austin. They made the installation and financing processes smooth and easy. We've had our panels for about 4 years now and haven't had any issues with them. We save a considerable amount in energy costs during the sunny months, which is pretty regular in Texas, and any credits we build can roll over to future electric bills.

We recently had Longhorn solar install solar for us and it was such good experience. They were all so professional from start to finish. The thing that impressed me the most was their honesty and integrity. I did not feel like I was being oversold on solar. They gave me a number of options on sizes of systems with their recommendations to meet my needs. I was also pleased that they presented a number of financial options as well. Longhorn Solar came highly recommended and I can also highly recommend them to anyone.

Purchase a solar system form this company toward the end of 2017. Since the middle of November of 2019 no electricity has been generated by the system, called Longhorn solar and they stated that the inverter needed to be replaced, they contact SolarEdge in California for a replacement. No further notification received until I called Jessica McNeal in Dec. 31st 2019 and she apologized for the delay due to holiday issues but no inverter was received.
Finally I personally called SolarEdge and to my surprise the Inverted was received by Longhorn solar on 12/16/19 and they gave me the track number for verification which I did with Fedex. As of today January 11th they are not returning phone calls or e-mail, the manager Jeremy is always on a meeting. Ronnie answer the phone and her suggestion is to keep calling until someone call back.
I encourage potential customer to keep this poor customer service experience in mind if they are in the market for a solar system. There are other customers with similar problems in Yelp and with complaints at the BBB.

Buyer Beware: the post-install customer service is very bad - make that awful! In early 2016, I chose Longhorn after many assurances, at time of bid/sale (from the Owner, Louis Petrik) that the company "stood behind their work" of quality & service. After careful deliberation, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. The install went poorly and about a year later had to have them come back to service, only to found out the original installers missed a few steps or something.
In any event, I've have had to contact them for service questions, a few times, and without fail - it's always challenging. At the moment, I'm having issues with their monitoring system. No joke, I've called at least five times and sent a number of e-mails (even copied the Owner) with no reply. I once again called on Friday morning, and was given a promise the Jessica (not sure why I have to speak to her) would call me back after 1:30pm.
Not surprised, no call back. I really don't get it: what is so hard about calling someone back to answer a couple of questions. Can you imagine what the service would be if I were calling into complain about something? I think this company has grown too quickly (now in Dallas?). Do your research: there are better companies out there.

Connor from Longhorn Solar helped me figure out my solar panel manufacturer and specifications though they neither installed it or asked any compensation from me to do so. I bought a new house with an existing solar array. They helped me figure out the brand and specs so that I could send those details to my energy company in order to start selling back the excess energy our house didn't use.
No other company even responded to my requests since I was not trying to buy a new system. I will absolutely use them for any of my solar needs moving forward and also recommending them to friends and neighbors. This kind of integrity and good business is such a rarity anymore.

Great to work with Longhorn Solar. Worked as expected for about a month, but had system failure (inverter box). Took about a month to get parts (replaced under warranty) and have it up and running again. Two subsequent electric bills are actually more than previous months and more than the same time last year without solar. Now investigating when the system was fixed, was it not linked back to the electric company. According to the monitoring system the solar panels are functioning correctly.

Our experience was overall fine. We got more information about available rebates than the other company we got a bid from, but the prices were comparable. We had a ground mount system installed and it seems to be working as expected. We did have to call them back for not filling in the trench properly. After a rain, we had a 200' ditch of almost a foot, where human or cattle could be injured.
They came back out to fill it.filled half and wanted to be done. I had to point out the other half beyond the fence. They initially were going to install a "Sense" monitor, but said we did not have space on our box so put one on the array that we could not even read from the house. We got a new box and asked for the Sense. It took them weeks, poor communication, and then they installed and left without making sure it was functional.
Basically the breakdown seems to be in the coordination/communication department. People would show up to work without notice. They would try to move up work dates without regard to other issues we were coordinating. There were just a number of annoyances that didn't have to exist if they had better management and communication. So while the work seems solid (time will tell), the overall experience was not great. I felt like once we wrote that last check, I could expect the bare minimum.

I responded to Longhorn's ad in our electric coop magazine about 5 years ago. They eventually did three projects for me, all were completed satisfactorily. One of those projects used the BenQ microinverter system. Most of the time after installation, I've had at least one BenQ panel not functional. It has been VERY difficult to get Longhorn out to fix things.
Response time has been around 6 months. Recently, I was notified that BenQ was abandoning the system and internet monitoring would no longer be supported. An alternative was to monitor the gateway locally on my LAN. My gateway failed to function in that way. So, I am left with no possible way to monitor. Many times, I've asked Longhorn to either fix or quote for a fix. For many months, Longhorn has ignored me. I've now turned to another Solar business to replace BenQ microinverters with Enphase.

A big thanks to Logan and everyone at Longhorn Solar. The entire process was very enjoyable, informative and a great experience. From conception to installation everything exceeded my expectations and I have since referred friends and family who have also experienced the same great results. If you are looking for solar, look no further than Longhorn.

Had a great experience with those guys from start to finish. Logan was very thorough at explaining what could be done, gave us a lot of options. He was not pushy but kept answering all my questions (I had a lot.). Their team was also able to relocate a few vents in our roof so that we could get a full array of panels- looks way better than when some panels are missing due to vents. As we are now selling the house, Logan also provided quite a bit of support for getting value out of the panel. Would use again for sure.

I had my system installed back in June of 2016 and we are nothing but happy with it. Bryan K was our representative and took very good care of us. Our system was installed within a month of the paper work getting complete. Bryan K was very up front and transparent with the whole process. We shopped around and interviewed 3 other companies that all tried to pressure us into a contract deal to sign on site and Longhorn did nothing like this.
They always communicated when thing were going to happen and Bryan continues to follow up with us to make sure everything is going smooth. Great customer service! I would highly recommend giving them a call over any other company's

Jimmy Hodges talked to me at Earth Day about getting solar, and I asked a few other companies to come out and give me quotes as well. After reviewing my site, not only did Jimmy respond first, but he let me know that I have too much shade over my roof and it wouldn't be worth it to install the panels. So, if they didn't actually do any work for me, why am I writing an excellent review? 1) When we talked, he completely explained the process, normal costs, type of evaluation they would do, types of panels, limitations set by the city, etc.
I didn't think I needed that much information, but it turns out that all of that was relevant. 2) They set up a very prompt evaluation and I didn't even need to be at home. They responded days before anyone else, and he remembered me and my questions at Earth Day. That shows that he really cares about each person. 3) He gave me a totally honest evaluation (ie- it would take too many panels and be too expensive to make up my losses due to shade). Even though that means that he didn't make a profit, he saved ME a ton of time and money in the long run. TL;DR - Jimmy is a good dude. 10/10, would recommend.

I waited a year after Longhorn installed a relatively large (8.75 kW) pv system on our roof as I wanted to see how real-world performance lined up with their estimates. We interviewed three different companies, as did a couple dozen of our neighbors. Longhorn was far and away the most responsive and had the best price (though others were close on price, they weren't as forthcoming about design details like why they do or don't use microinverters -- Longhorn answered every one of our questions).
The real world performance of the system surpasses the estimates they gave us. We didn't expect that -- we'd assumed it was like miles per gallon where anything in the neighborhood is "good enough." As an example, they estimated a production of 1,100 kWh for June; we produced 1,224. It was a particularly sunny June.but this is Central Texas. They're all sunny. We're very happy we went with Longhorn.

Longhorn Solar installed my 6 KW system in December 2012. We're in Cedar Park. No issues, solid installation. Couple of things worth noting: 1. I had a relatively new roof (replaced 2009), so installation made sense. If you have an old roof, consider waiting until you get the roof done. 2. Power usage projections have been in line with what was promised at the time of sale.
I appreciate the accuracy. 3. Roof does not leak. Again, anytime you punch holes in a roof to install anything, leakage is a concern. The system they used to anchor the panels has performed really well 4 years on. 4. My power bill for a 3900 sq. ft. house (with 3 AC units) runs from ~$180 in the summer to as low as $10 in the winter/early spring. The bill used to range from $100 to $300 (I have also done some simple energy efficient upgrades - LED lights, Gila window film, re-sealed windows, etc.). 5.
We have a favorable roof exposure with no trees blocking the sun. Longhorn looked at this carefully before selling the system. Again, I'm almost 4 years on with my system, and am very pleased with it.

My experience with Longhorn Solar was excellent. Before providing a quote, they measured my roof, did a shading analysis, and accurately assessed my annual electric usage. From there, they put together an accurate and comprehensive proposal that was more detailed (and believable) than any of the other quotes I received.

I started working with Longhorn Solar in December of 2014. I had selected three companies who install in San Antonio, TX and asked for quotes. Through this part of the process the salesman, Ian Smith, was always prompt to answer my questions and address any of my concerns. Although all three companies presented excellent information and competitive quotes, I selected Longhorn Solar because I felt they had my best interests at heart. Longhorn took care of all the paperwork with the electrical company.
About the only thing I did was submit an architectural request to my Homeowner's Association. Installation began in mid-February of 2015 and was done in four days, two of which were rainy, so actual installation took two days. During this time, the workers took great care to answer any questions we had about placement of panels, operation of the breakers for the invertors, etc.
They were also very diligent in cleaning up any work residue from the area when they finished. On the first week of March, the electric company finally commissioned the system and we were up and running! The lead installer and the salesman came back and made sure we understood how everything worked. About the only problem we've had is that one of the sensors that monitors power usage had been installed backwards, resulting in erroneous readings. One call to the company and an installer, who had been installing another system nearby, quickly came by and corrected the problem. Everything has been flawless ever since!
