I poked around and troubleshot out issues for a week before I called and left a message in the evening, Jacob had an opening and was able to see me next day. Came promptly, diagnosed, repaired and educated me on how to maintain the system appropriately over time. Quoted price was what it costed, but would not hesitate to call them again for additional support at our home. Bonus points for Smart Choice hiring Veterans. Thanks for your service (in our armed forces and my AC unit) Jacob!

Jacob was courteous and professional during his service call. He was available and arrived an hour earlier the expected. He accessed the problem with both heat and A/C and after replacing a few components he had the system up and running. In addition he gave me a few helpful maintenance tip to perform on my unit to ensure it's smooth and efficient operation.

I contacted Smart Choice to service my ductless systems at my home. Customer Service was great as they got me an appointment the very next day. Brandon was our Tech that day. He was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable. He was able to quickly diagnose a problem with one of my units (it had not been working properly for some time). He was able to complete the repairs in a couple of hours and my system is now working great!
Just a reminder. As the temperatures get warmer, they become extremely busy, so if you are looking for quick service get ahead of the game and call them sooner rather than later. Great experience with Smart Choice. I recommend them highly. Bob T. Ridgefield, WA.

Company had somebody out within 3 days to look at my heating and cooling and figure out what was going on. Tech was able to fairly quickly identify the issue with my heat pump and have the part on his truck to fix it and got my system up and going again. Horrendous experience - Questionable integrity First I would like to start off by saying one thing I did appreciate about this company, they we always very kind and friendly. I give credit where it is due and I appreciate this. But that does not foreshadow the following; A few years back we were having A/C problems. Had a technician come out & fill up the freon and we were good to go for that summer.
Not for good. The following summer we had the same issue, which I found to be odd. We had another tech come out. This gentleman told us that our unit took the cheaper freon (which was great) but also said he couldn't figure out exactly why we were having this issue back to back years. We filled it up with the cheaper freon and were solid for that summer.
The following summer, same issue. Had a tech from smart choice come out. This gentleman told us it that our A/C unit needed to be replaced and that it would fix our issue. He also said that it would be a quieter unit (false) that it would make a big difference in a room that gets minimal air (false) AND that if we didn't get a new unit that it was going to cost us at least 700$ because our unit took the more expensive freon (lie).
We decided to go with financing a new A/C through smart choice because it did sound like our unit had some issues. It cost us $8k. It took smart choice 5-6 trips to our home to get everything squared away with new venting because they told us our system would be way quieter. At one point we had a young gentleman at our home about to complete the job for us.
He wasn't comfortable with doing the job due to the safety of the work they were trying to do. He called what I assume to be his supervisors and they told him to just do the job anyways, basically so they can call it a wrap with the work at our house since they had to come out so much. The job that the supervisors were telling him to go ahead and do anyways would of been dangerous for the safety of our family.
The young gentleman decided not to to the job going against what he was being told. Kudos to this young man. So we finally get everything squared away (this was 2 summers ago). Although expensive, we're happy with our new unit. No more freon going out the rest of the summer. but wait! Guess what happens last summer (1 summer later). OUR new $8K A/C UNIT RUNS OUT OF FREON!
Smart Choice is chosen through our warranty company. They come out and tell us that in order for our unit to stop running out of freon, we need to pay $1700 for a new job to be done! They fill up our freon and peace out. We decided not to follow through with the job at this point due to financial reasons but I am sure this will probably be an issue some July when our new unit runs out of freon. Needless to say, we probably didn't even need to get a new unit. We just needed this job done. Felt this experience was important to share. We had a REALLY bad experience with this company.

Jacob did a great job diagnosing our unit. He was great about educating along the way and gave options for getting the unit running. I had purchased and installed an inducer motor (online) myself only to find out that one of the motor speed didn't work. He got the unit running until a new part was able to arrive. I very much appreciate working with this business and from my experience would highly recommend using them. I feel he was very honest with me and had an interest in making sure I understood the unit and expectations.

Unbelievable care and concern! We woke up on a really cold snowy day to find the heat not working in our house! I called and they worked really hard to get someone who could come help me that same day because I knew the temperatures would drop over night. The repair man tried to come and the roads were too snowy for his truck so he had to give up and said he could try again the next day in a different truck.
I was preparing for a really cold night when I got another call from Smart Choice saying that Jose, the owner, heard about my plight and was coming to help! He had already clocked out and left for the day but he went back to the office, got a truck that could handle the snow and came to the rescue! He was able to get our heat back on and the kids were all cheering!
We are so grateful he was so willing to go above and beyond to help us out! It was easy to see that he genuinely cared about us and was so knowledgeable he was able to diagnose and fix the problem. THANK YOU for going the extra mile!

These guys are the best! Honestly I cannot say enough good words. Its always a pain to have to have heating fixed, but two times they have come out and been professional, courteous and have great rates. I have to say most companies worry more about their bottom line than they do about customer service.this company has the best customer service I have seen in a long time. I will recommend them to everyone I know. I pulled their name off Google two years ago and will go to them as long as I am able!

We have an oil furnace that turned off when we ran out of oil. We were unknowing that would happen as we recently purchased this house and we're not familiar with oil furnaces. They were able to schedule us quickly knowing we were without heat in the winter while other companies were scheduling a month out. The tech that came out was knowledgeable, friendly, and taught me a couple tips on basic maintenance of our furnace. We will definitely be using their services again when it comes time for more challenging maintenance/repairs.

If you want good old fashion customer service I highly recommend them! Allissa caring and going the extra mile was out of this century! Amanda in the office great communication! Jose the owner was great to make sure everything is done the way the customer wants it! My installation crew: Nick, Logan and Danny were the Best! And the electrician that came over from Eric Olson Nash and Joey were also way over the top with customer service! I do think I had one other installer that I'm forgetting, he was awesome too! This company will be my Fortune 500! There is not one out there better!

Smart Choice employees were great to work with. Over a 3-day period - they were communicative about each phase of work, patient with my questions, patient with my dog, and found items in my attic I didn't know were there and brought them down for me. Smart Choice was willing to work with PUD recommendations, even though it reduced the amount of money paid to Smart Choice and I respect that.
The one issue was a communication breakdown between the office staff, field crew, and electrician which resulted in the electrician showing up for repairs and me only knowing the field crew said there was a "breaker issue" and the electrician would be coming on a specific day to fix it. The electrician was patient, and was able to connect with the crew member that knew what needed to be done. They were able to fix what needed to be repaired. Smart Choice employees were professional and responsive.

Jacob was the first one to come out to talk to us about what type of Central Air Unit we were looking to have installed. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped us to select the right unit for us. On installation day, they had a whole crew / team out for delivery, checking the ducts / airflow and EVERYONE was so nice and professional. They had our new ac unit up and running in no time.
We've already had it for one year and called for a one year maintenance check-up. Everything is running great and we are very pleased with system we purchased. We highly recommend Smart Choice. You won't be sorry!

Smart Choice was our choosing for HVAC work after we looked at their amazing reviews. We had a new air filtration system and a humidifier installed. We were sent a group of courteous professionals who worked hard and expertly to make our home a more pleasant place to live. We are seniors. The new higher humidity in the house helps to alleviate health problems.
Not wanting to sound medical, but when indoor humidity drops below 30% during cold months you are apt to have sinus problems and other irritations. The low humidity effects many aspects people do not realize from your wood floors to your houseplants, even brittle hair, and hair loss. Amazing huh. High humidity can also have effects, but with this new installation it keeps it at the correct level.
After they installed the humidifier and air filters, we have had zero sinus problems. Zero. That alone made it worth the price. We appreciate their hard work and I would recommend them highly.

We've had the best experience with this company. Through multiple interactions with both customer service reps and technicians at Smart Choice we've never had a bad experience. They are professional and go overboard for their customers. The rates are very comparable to other local companies, but honestly we'd pay more. they are fast and efficient.

We were so thankful that Brandon came out to fix our AC before the heat wave! We had a 2 week wait for the appointment, but I'm sure that's not unusual during summer. We were very pleased that he was able to diagnose the problem, replace a part and fill the coolant on the same day! Great customer service. Brandon was top notch with his explanations and professionalism. Prices are up, but that's apparently throughout the community. Highly recommend!

This place is probably the best service I have seen around for HVAC systems. I have tried the most popular one in the area as well but if I had to award a trophy, this company gets it. The service person knew what he was talking about and got my heater fixed in no time at a very fair price. Added to that, he checked the ducts as an extra service. I have no words to express how great and how satisfied we are with their service.

Jacob arrived on time and showed up wearing a mask. He's very experienced and knew his job well. He was courteous, and I appreciate him wearing disposable booties on his shoes in the house. My rental property AC unit had some issues. We called up Smart Choice. They were very responsive and came out the next day. (Earning an extra star for the review) They said the system looks great and the only repair needed was a Capacitor. They charged me $142 to replace the Capacitor (part cost $10). They also charged $110 for the diagnoses. Time it took to replace the capacitor was 5 minutes.
They told us the system is working great. When we checked it a few hours later the symptom was not gone and the AC was not working properly. We called them back out and they said the Coil needs to be replaced. According to my research, the coil costs $300-$400 for parts and can usually be replaced within 2-3 hours. Their bid was $1881. I called them to see if I can get a refund for the capacitor since it was not the problem.
I do not mind paying the diagnosis fee even though it was misdiagnosed. The lady on the phone was pleasant but stated that they cannot give me a refund unless I use them for the overpriced replacement of the coil, in which case they can apply a credit towards that. Seams like this company although professional and responsive, up-charges a ridiculous amount, and has charged me for work that didn't need to be done. I would not recommend this company to family or friends. I would say go with someone that is maybe less polished but is more honest in pricing and repairs.

Called this place because the yelp reviews were good and they could come out the next day. My furnace Was turning on great, but then turnjng off unexpectedly. The guy- "Dave" seemed nice enough but he was set on me replacing my entire system was furnace at a cost of nearly $7000. He basically said my I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe he's Was turning on great, but then turnjng off unexpectedly. not very wxoerienced. he said he my system was crap. and sent me An estimate for a whole new system. 1 month later my furnave is making a buzzing sound so I call a different company based Off a referral From a friend.
And I wasnt in the same Rush. The new comosny came out, tested the ststem against a new system performance and said it was perfect. He cleaned it (the last guy didn't do much despite charging over $109). It's running perfect now! Don't use this place-- they are crooks!

When you have a small crawl space and you know somethings wrong under the house we found out you need to get someone you can trust! We had another company come give an estimate. Their estimate was $1,600. We then called smart choice for a second opinion. The technician they sent crawled underneath the house. Took pictures and fixed it in one shot.
The bill was under $300. Boom! The pictures better choice have us were not the same pictures the other company showed us. We would never have known the difference! But the issue is resolved nicely and we have more money to spend on the next repair

Zero stars. I'm extremely disappointed in this company. After receiving a recommendation from a neighbor about great service, and having 2 techs come out on 3 different occasions this summer, they left me melting in the 100 degree heat. During the first visit back in May, I was told there was a locked rotor error and simply flipping the breaker got it up and running again.
When it kept happening, I requested a different tech come out, preferably someone more experienced. I was told this tech was their most experienced one. I believe this was a lie considering he was quite young (couldn't have been more than 30 years old)! Needless to say, they sent him back and he found the same error; the only additional thing he suggested was putting in a new 'relay' capacitor.
But again, he couldn't be certain that was even the issue. Not knowing what to do next and not wanting to just throw money away trying different things to fix it, I got in the habit of just flipping my breaker every time it locked up to get it running again (I'm sure that was great for my system!). I was pretty miserable all summer! Finally, a couple weeks ago, when flipping the breaker no longer got it up and running, I gave them another call.
They finally sent out a different tech who noticed immediately my unit had a 'rescue' motor which is basically an 'after market' motor meaning the motor had been replaced from the original. How did the first Tech not notice or think to check or question that?! He proceeded to tell me that in addition to the motor, my control board was fried as well.
He could repair these things for 2K but a better option would be to replace the entire unit (mind you, it's only 5 years old!)! Oh, and according to him, the parts were on special order so it wouldn't be a 'quick fix.' This is absolutely the worst news you want to hear on a 100 degree day. Thank goodness I got a second opinion from another company who came out, diagnosed and replaced the motor (got it from Portland) in less than a week!
Now I'm up and running again no thanks to SmartChoice! And at a 1/3 of the cost that they quoted me! I think the most disappointing part is that the company that ended up fixing it said my warranty was just up last month! So had the issue been diagnosed more quickly, the costs may have been covered.

What a no-brainer for a great repair company! Our AC unit wasn't turning on, just kind of buzzing, but our furnace was blowing air, just not cool air. My husband called in the morning and they booked us an appointment for later that same day! They were friendly on the phone, and gave us a 2-hour window of time they'd be by. We even got notification of when they were en route to our house.
When they arrived, the tech (Brandon), asked to go take a look at the unit and then asked me if he could get clearance for the repair with me or my husband. I told him "me is fine." Apparently our issue is pretty common, and so it didn't take him long to diagnose the problem and then show me the work proposal on his iPad. I approved the work and he was done with the job in about 20 minutes.
They emailed us a copy of the invoice as well as some maintenance things that they recommend and offer. All in all it was a great experience and I'd use them & recommend them again. AND we have cool air blowing again! Yeah!

I'm pregnant, work from home, and our furnace kicked the bucket during the past week when it was snowing, windy and down into the 20's at night (brrr!) Boy am I glad that my husband and I called up Smart Choice for their expertise! Every single employee that came to our house this week (first to do a diagnostic on the furnace, then to haul away our old one, install a new one and test everything - AND they brought us a couple of loaner space heaters to use to stay warm in the couple days between) were so professional, prompt, knowledgeable and friendly.
They even swept our floor afterward to clean up any dirt tracked in! We were blown away by how great our experience was with this company, and we didn't empty our savings account to get a new furnace, either. I also appreciated all the attention to detail and making sure things are up to code and that the city will be out next week to also inspect and verify. They even swept our floor afterward to clean up any dirt tracked in! We were blown away by how great our experience was with this company, and we didn't empty our savings account to get a new furnace, either. I also appreciated all the attention to detail and making sure things are up to code and that the city will be out next week to also inspect and verify. Great customer service! From booking to service, all was seamless. The reason for the 1 star deduction is that I had to run out and buy an air filter while my HVAC was being worked on. I asked the rep and he said they could provide one at an up-charge and that he would have to leave and come back. I would think this would be an easy thing to keep on hand in a repair vehicle. I would definitely recommend though!

We had our air conditioner stop working on a Saturday evening. I called, figuring that we would have to wait until Monday. I got a call back from the on call tech within 15 min! He came out and diagnosed the issue, gave me a very detailed explanation on what was needed to fix the issue. We have a 25 year old house, so there were a few. They were not able to fix the issue that night, as I needed a part ordered.
They came back out on Tuesady to finish the repair, on time and for the original cost! Great job, awesome tech, great communication from the office and the tech! I never felt pressure to buy anything and the costs were reasonable! Highly recommend!

One of our heat pumps stopped working yesterday and the temperature inside our house plummeted to the low 50's. Of course this was right before the ice storm and I called 10 furnace repair shops and Smart Choice Heating and Cooling (SCH&C) were the only people who could send someone out. Their service person arrived within an hour of my first call to them.
Highly professional and he fixed and serviced both of my heat pumps. Pricing was a little high but not unreasonable. He kindly educated me about my neglect of my furnace filters which needed to be replaced every month. The previous owner never told me about the filters and they looked a giant fur balls. ha ha Anyway, as I sit in my warm family room today, iced in for at least 8 hours, thank you SCH&C, you saved my ass! Don't wait until something breaks on your furnace like I did. Believe me it will happen at the worst possible time. Have them service your furnace every year like we plan to do. Highly recommended.
