Public Service Plumbers Founders, John B. DiFrancesco and wife Wadie C. DiFrancesco came to Dallas after World War II, in 1950. John learned the plumbing trade and business from his father, the late Joseph M. DiFrancesco, Sr. who was an architect, licensed master plumber and licensed master electrician in the state of New York.

The doors to Public Service Plumbers, Inc. were opened in 1959 after John B. DiFrancesco, a master plumber in Texas since 1950, spent nine years perfecting his craft in the Park Cities / Preston Hollow areas. Following in the family tradition Joseph M. DiFrancesco, III (a graduate of University of Texas at Dallas and a licensed master plumber since 1981) joined the firm in 1983.

Toilets
Report
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a family of four typically uses up to 400 gallons of water a day, with 70 percent of this attributed to an indoor use of water. The average American flushes a toilet five times a day. In older homes, with 3.2 gallon toilets, a family of four could use more than 20,000 gallons of water annually just flushing a toilet.
Sump Pump Repair
Report
Your sump pump performs a critical function in your home, preventing flooding and water damage in low-lying areas. When your sump pump stops working properly, you want an experienced and knowledgeable plumber, someone who can respond immediately, day or night, weekdays or weekends. You want Public Service Plumbers.
Repairs
Report
Unless it keeps you up at night, chances are you won't take immediate action to fix a leaky faucet-but you probably should. According to most studies, a leaky faucet can add $20 to your water bill in a fairly short period of time.
Emergency
Report
Let's face it.plumbing problems don't always arise in the middle of the day.in fact, it can seem like they're most likely to occur in the middle of the night or on the weekend. And most plumbing problems are not something that can wait a few days to be fixed. When a pipe bursts, you may be able to turn the water off to prevent a flood, but you still need water.
Drain Cleaning
Report
When you have a plugged or backed-up drain, you want to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Not only will a clogged drain pose a risk of flooding, but there can be health risks associated with backed-up drains as well. Most of what's going down the drain is waste, carrying germs, so the longer it sits in your home, the more you and your family will be exposed to it.

Public Service Plumbers was very accommodating in respect to our needs on a very old home with limited crawl space. Allan was very professional and called ahead to make sure I could be available for his visit. He was thorough and honest in his assessment of the sewage line. There was no need for repair.however I have found my new go to For plumbing services! Thank you!

Critical: Value WHAT A RIP OFF! $ 89 fee to be credited to work if I use them. That was fine. Needed to simply replace a kitchen faucet, here which I had. 20-30 minute job. When plumber got here he quoted $450 to do the work. Said company had flat fee regardless of time required. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. TOLD HIM NO THANKS.

Wonderful people showing concern and compassion for people under stress. They found the problem, explained the issue and the problem, and immediately arranged for the repair. They worked quietly, and tolerated our nervous dog who gradually warmed up a little. The cost was most reasonable for several hours under the house. I will always use Public Service.

Carlos, the plumber, was polite and professional. He did a quick job, 20-30 minutes, of changing out a couple parts in my toilet tank. The company did a good job keeping in touch with me via email, phone calls and texts. The problem I have is with the price which was very high to me. When I called to set an appt and ask the price that might be charged, they said they couldn't give an amount.

When I found out today what the charge would be, they said there was a SET BASE BUNDLE RATE, which seemed very high. If I knew that in the first place, I would have shopped around some more. Obviously that wouldn't be good for them. So I won't have them come again, although the toilet now works. Maybe it's just me but is $416 normal these days(?)

They did a wonderful, clean job of finding a gas leak in my fireplace, directing me to get a brick mason to further reveal the pipe (less expensively), and then returning promptly to repair the pipe and check for all possible leaks in the area. Very professional and careful. Great job! Service: Plumbing leak detection

Unfortunately this company has merged into a flat fee program large corporate type company. This means to replace a valve and a flap in a toilet is around $500. It's no longer the small local, first name basis business that it was. I am super bummed because I really enjoyed working with the former trade owners. They charged me the cost of basically a brand new toilet today. Not going to happen again. I wish their employees well. Such a bummer.

Troy Curtis and Taylor Boatwright, both plumbers with PUBLIC SERVICE PLUMBERS were working at our neighbors home. We were not home at the time. They spotted flames coming from the alley behind the house where they were working. It was our garage and both of the garbage pails were on fire along with all the boxes and papers in our recycle bins. Evidently it was spreading and climbing up our cedar tree and on to our wooden cedar fence.

They both ran in opposite directions to grab hoses from their client's yard and our yard and thankfully put out the fire before it spread to our garage. This was TODAY, Dec 6, 2021 and the winds were blowing about 30 mph. It definitely would have spread fast. How blessed we were to have two caring plumbers, without anyone asking them, caring enough about a strangers home and doing their best to put out the fire.

Which they accomplished. They also called 911 and by the time the fire trucks arrived the fire was out. At the same time my husband drove up to see this awful and scary scene. Kudos to these two men and to Public Service Plumbers for hiring such selfless and caring people. We thought we should spread the word when good deeds are done without anyone watching or asking a question. Just doing the right thing. You can be sure we will now be using Public Service Plumbers going forward.

If you're looking for an honest plumber, look no further. Troy Curtis of public service just rang my door to tell me he found my wife's purse. Her purse was stolen 6 months ago. They were working a job near her office where they found the purse on the roof. They could have easily ignored and moved on with their day. Instead they drove 35 miles out of their way in Rush hour traffic to return. Still good people in this world. Give them a call

The technicians that came onsite were knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They were also very thorough, pointing out significant items that a previous technician from another company had left undone. They worked diligently to ensure that I was taken care of and that my gas line was properly repaired. Service: Pipe repair

Best smelling plumber I ever had! Nate came out late to get my toilet unclogged and rescued me since it is my only toilet. I had called about 20 other plumbers, and Public Service was the only one that would come out. Thanks, Nate. Service: Toilet repair

From the phone call to the repair men Carlos and Nate that came to my home, every aspect of this visit was awesome. I was also given some good information on other services that I plan on getting for my water system. And seeing that they offer other services, I will most definitely store this number in my phone. Service: Leak investigation and repair

They came out within a day and found and fixed exterior wall hose spigot leak with minimal brick damage and even mortared it back in so it was a emergency turn key job. Done work at reasonable price too. We are more than satisfied. We are impressed. We recommend to any needing quality plumbing work. Service: Pipe repair

REVISED: after posting this, the company called me and apologized and took corrective actions. I consider that great service that is more consistent with what I've experienced with Public Service Plumbers! I have used this company before and saw a leaky toilet so wanted to try them again. While they are prompt to answer the phone, I just spoke to a condescending and unhappy sounding woman who answered the phone. It's a shame when that is the face of a good company-just prepare yourself for her attitude if you call.

Initial scheduling was easy and they may have done a good job. But I wouldn't know as they did not show at the scheduled appointment window time of 3-hrs (duration seems appropriate). Called to confirm after the first hour in and all seemed well. Called again 10 minutes before the close of the 3-hr window (since I did not hear back) and was only then told that their tech was running late.

I had already factored in about an hour of work (simple faucet replacement) even if he did arrive at the last minute but I wasn't going to stay around all day for this. They offered to reschedule but the sheer lack of communication/updates from them and simple respect for the customer's time was enough for me to take my business elsewhere.

The team came out for an emergency repair on a complicated lift station connected to our commercial grease trap. Troy could not have been more helpful and clear with what went wrong, how it could be fixed, and a good plan going forward. We have had many companies service this part of our grease trap in the past. None were as efficient, effective, and clear as Public Service Plumbers.

I've used Public Service Plumbers several times over the years. They've done excellent work. They are very expensive (expect to pay almost double), but there are so many shady contractors out there that I've learned to pay more for good ones.

Pros: Good work, they always solve the problem, can get them out on short notice, after hours service

Cons: Expensive, they've showed up late on more than occasion, some plumbers were nice - others were a little rude, they insist on having a plumber and a "helper" on every job, so you're paying for 2 people

Overall I would not hesitate to use them again.

Don't call Public Service Plumbers in an emergency. They seemed knowledgeable and courteous when installing our new water heater, but unfortunately it has stopped working after about 24 hours. We called the 24/7/365 line, but have not received a call back after more than five hours, despite leaving three messages and the outgoing message saying we should receive a call in a few minutes.

We had a leak from a pipe under our pier and beam house. We learned about it because our water bill went up $30 in one month and after calling the water dept. to check they said there was a leak of a gallon every 8 minutes on our property. We could hear water flowing only after we opened up the crawl space and stuck our head down into the space. We called several companies on a Friday that were recommended but Public Service Plumbers agreed to send someone out that day and early enough so they would have time to fix any problem before the end of the day. Took about 2 1/2 hours for 2 guys for $500. Josh was the plumber and both men were polite, clean, took pictures of the problem, and guaranteed their work.

Boyd came out, worked professionally through my tankless heater issue and fixed the problem. Went on lunch while glue had to dry, not to bill me time to wait around. Very happy with his work.

I called Public Service Plumbers for an emergency hot water heater replacement. They were able to get someone out right away, assess the situation, stop the leaking and had a new system installed by that evening. the guys they sent over were very nice. My wife was comfortable being home alone with them. they cleaned up their mess when they left.

It is nice to know there is someone to call when I am out of town and need some plumbing repairs done! I called 2 other companies after the the job was done to check the price. they were right in line with one and cheaper than the other. I looked up the hot water tank they installed and it is a very high quality unit.

Update 4/16 received a call from the office manager. Receptionist was new and training will be addressed. Manager told same thing a second plumber did, that draining and flushing the heater that old (10 years) may actually cause more problems and may worth the cost involved. Plumber will be coached. Manager credit us the cost of the visit. Thank you Aline.

They lost a customer today. Called to have a plumber come out because the water heater was making clunking/knocking sounds. Based on what i read on websites the heater needed to be flushed and drained. Told the receptionist who set up the appointment that it probably needed to be flushed. (heater still heated the water well, able to long hot showers etc... just made knocking noises).

When the plumber got here, he said that heaters don't need to be flushed drained anymore, he checked to make sure water heater still worked (i already knew it did) and looked at one other issue we had and charged us $98 for the 30 min visit. If i had been told up front that they don't drain/flush water heaters anymore, i would not have had them come out (by the way, the manual for my Whirlpool water heater says it IS supposed to be drained/flushed every 6 months). I don't appreciate being lied to and i don't appreciate having to spend the time and money to hire someone else to do what this guy should have done.
