James built this gate. Has solar charger, but back up key also. Lift master connects to your phone fur easy open and closure. There's a short delay, but click open from around the block. Works for us. It far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend you use this business.

I'll keep this simple. They were great from the start to finish. Ben came out to the discuss the job listened to what we wanted (as others wouldn't) and gave an a next day estimate, . As it is with everything these days, it seemed a bit pricey but in this case we got what we paid for. Quality lumber and most of all quality construction (a big thanks to the crew). Estimate to completion Western Fence is the best! Wind storm did a number on our wooden fence. Their estimator came out, diagnosed issue(s) and proposed viable solution.returned an estimate in 2 days (funny enough their estimate was to the penny the same as our Home insurance adjustors allowance!). Repair work was scheduled.office kept us updated as to timeline.crew arrived on the morning and completed work on time. Did a great job.and were respectful of neighbors and dog-in-yard protocols. When our 20+ year old redwood fencing could no longer contain one very determined little French Bulldog from visiting the neighbors dog, we knew it was time for new fencing. We first reached out to the fence contractor who installed our original fencing, but he explained he had too many jobs and not enough time or help. My husband then suggested Western Fence since he went to school with JC and they had done a great job repairing a gate for us a few years back that was damaged by a bear.

When I called JC and explained the urgency of our situation, he came out to do an estimate with the week and once we decided to move forward with the work, he went above and beyond to get his crew out the following week and for that I am grateful. His guys were on time, professional and did a GREAT job with the fencing. Even better, the work was completed in one day. JC also kindly recommended his painter Ted (Victoria Painting) who came out with his worker, Modesto, and did a really nice job on the stain. So with the said, my Frenchie is safely contained and our yard looks absolutely gorgeous. Thank you JC - you have a customer for life!

Over the past year or so, we noticed that our side pedestrian gate has been getting harder to close due to a side post that was progressively shifting towards the gate door. It got to the point where it was uncloseable so we started looking at bidders for gate repair. Luckily we found JC from Western Fence and were elated to see that his bid was about 50% less than some other bidders. Hugh and another technician came out today to begin work and we were impressed at how quickly the job was completed even with an extra task: I asked them to do me a favor and re-align the door, which I had adjusted by moving a bolt to a non-standard location to compensate for the sagging post.

The new post is sitting on a new concrete base that is currently setting. I captured pictures of the job from before and after the job. My wife and I were impressed with the professional quality of the job and the courteous attitude of the staff. We'll give them a call if we have similar needs in the future.

We called JC, he came to see our house and gave us his estimate. He squeezed us in a month later on his schedule and the guys finished this in one week (almost 5 days)! The guys worked hard and were so professional. JC showed us 3 designs to choose from and wasn't pushing us to choose one or another. He was practical with his suggestions and we are so so happy with the end result! Totally recommend these guys for your fencing needs.

We needed our pool gate reversed to open out (codes changed between 1989 and 2021) in order to complete our pool remodel. Western Fence was recommended to us by a couple of different people. We called. They returned our call same day and came the next day for an estimate. We explained the urgency of the job. They found the ideal solution and completed the work the next business day. I would use them again if I have a need for wrought iron fence work.

I contacted Western Fence company in Altadena to bid a chain link fence and a driveway iron gate. JC showed up right on time for our appointment. After walking the property, JC took the time and offered a few different fencing and iron gate options that I didn't know were available. After receiving all the vendor bids, Western fence was the most competitive.

I accepted the offer and agreed to an installation work date. The work was just finished and it turned out better than I expected! Usually in my personal/professional experiences there is always something that needs to be redone after a construction project. NOT with this company! They exceeded my expectations! I am extremely pleased with the outcome and would rehire Western Fence without question for future needs.

I called to have someone come out and give me an estimate on a wooden fence around my home. Their website says the go to glendora, but when she asked me what city I was in (covina) the person answering the phone made excuses of why they don't go that far anymore. The excuses are, that it's too far and there is too much traffic and it wasn't worth their time.

This company is listed in Altadena. On a good day going from Altadena to Covina, is against traffic, usually take 25-30 minutes at the most. I work in Pasadena and drive in traffic and right now at most I spend 40 minutes each way. Apparently Covina money isn't good enough for this company.

We wanted to use a local company, rather than a big box store, to help support our community during the pandemic. The salesperson came out, took the measurements and discussed options. We wanted to get the new gate as soon as possible, but he said they were really busy so it would take awhile to get to my order. That's the last we heard from him/the company. Definitely would not recommend this company.

Big hand railing job on a hillside. JC called me back promptly and the quote was mote than fair. Expert workmanship, and the job was done in 3 days. WF is a great outfit.

We got a quote for a few gates/fences that we needed at our house. However, when we had questions and wanted to make a few changes, we never heard back from them. Left several voicemails and emails but no response. We decided to go with another company since we never heard back from them. Horrible communication, would not recommend!

Our company has used western fence for many projects and we have always had a good experience. Some of us that I've been in business for 30+ years are just getting into this computer stuff and have not had a chance to formally recognize those that have done a great job for us over a long period of time, and consistently The owner, JC is a good man, he is honest and fair.

Quality and services is super important to them, thus is indicative of the way they operate. Consistency is key, and Western Fence has been an icon on the 210 corridor since 1967. Many of us have had the pleasure of working with these folks and all of us have seen their work, at least on TV if watching the Rose Parade. Some of use there services all the time, some have had fencing installed, many times two or three generations have done business with Western fence, and I would not be surprised if they were here to serve, a lot longer.

The owner, JC is a very easy to work with and communicate with, which is indicative of his crew and support staff as well, Western fence company is the first major fence company in so Cal, established in 1967. Consistency, hard work and a great value is a tradition, and we all have an opportunity to see their handiwork if we watch the Rose Parade, but they don't only do sectional construction fencing, they also do custom gorgeous work from all types of exotic materials wood metal etc.

Great company. We had a problem with our gate mechanism. They came and quickly revealed a minor problem and fixed it. Could have been far more extensive. I appreciate the honesty and down to earth approach rather than trying to optimize for the most money. Highly recommended!

These guys are the best! I called them to fix something another company had ruined and they came out within the window they had planned. James diagnosed and fixed both the original problem and all the damage caused by the awful clueless company we called first (who charged us $450 for the honor). He was personable and professional. We were charged for the house call and that's it.

He cleaned and maintained the gears and the electronics and replaced the fuse that the first company hadn't even noticed (should have been at the top of their list). I've already recommended them to friends and we will ABSOLUTELY be calling them with any future work we need.

I've been working with JC and his team on multiple projects I needed done to my home in San Marino. These jobs ranged from large to small including the construction of a block and stucco wall dumpster enclosure with concrete base that included an electric custom driveway gate. Their craftsmanship was top notch and they were able to seamlessly add this enclosure and gate to my almost 100 year old Spanish style home and make it look as if it was always part of the house.

They have also completed the construction of multiple fences on my property during my construction of a pool in order to make the yard pool-safe and to hide the pool equipment. They worked with both the city and outside civic planning companies on my behalf to obtain both construction documents and the necessary permits needed to complete these jobs.

It was fantastic not to have to deal with this myself. Everything was completed on schedule and for the agreed to price. A home always seems to be a work in progress and its hard to find honest, reliable, talented, and reasonable priced people to help you accomplish these projects. Have been to Western Fence on a couple occasions. James and JC are hilarious once you get them going! Superior clean work! They never leave you hanging. No wonder why they have been a fixture in Altadena for so long!

I've used Western Fence for over 20 years and have found them to be the most professional, highly skilled and reasonable fence company that I've found. It's always been a painless and easy process working with them. Highly recommended.

Western Fence preys on the un-informed-my daughter hired them. Pictures as well as words can be a contract. No so with this company. At the very least get the opinion of other fencing contractors before hiring Western Fence. Make sure you get what they were contracted for. In a resent conversation with a trusted contractor friend, we came to the conclusion that safer, better quality fences / gates and prices can be had elsewhere. It is unfortunate, I prefer to support local, stand alone businesses.

This company preys on the uninitiated--the majority of it's clients--whom have no idea what a fence / gate should look like or function like. When they are called on it, they avoid the remedy and become abusive in manner. As the contract was signed, they were given drawings, outlining what we expected. We were looking for a gate made of light weight and rust proof aluminum.

They responded with a drawing outlining that they would only work in steel. Based on that respondence, our expectations were re-tempered, with new drawings, using specifications within the scope of their limited expertise. This is the due diligence that most companies work with and understand. Drawing are a legal contract outlining expectations. Sadly, not in Western Fence's reality.

The gate installed at our property did not have parallel hinges, nor were the hinge pins on center, being 12° off between the two hinges. Meaning the gate hinges bind as the gate is opened. Additionally, the gate was hinged on the wrong side--left not right. The rest of the gate was over built, that is, much too heavy, to the point it is not safe for young children to be around. Reverse engineering their solution showed that they even missed their own design goals.

This gate will tear it self apart due to those mis-aligned hinges binding and weight. When we called them on it they became abusive. Claiming that they would have to eat the whole job. We are not dis-agreeable people. We would have listened to remedies for the problems. Even though they would not listen to ours. None were forth coming. As it stands, we feel we paid a premium price for inferior quality, performance and our goals not having been met.

If you are not sure what a gate or fence should look like or perform like. Seek advice--from an unbiased source. Understand what you are buying before you hire Western Fence and hold them to it. This company takes advantage of people who do not understand. Sadly this is a locally own and operated business and there are not many choices--an other way that they prey on their clientele.

The owner does not personally get involved with the fabrication. Choosing to under employ their workers / sub-contractors to maximize their profit. It is much preferable to hire an owner / fabricator whom has their sweat in the game. Please be aware that the other reviews, under the Wester Fence heading, that are positive, do not offer any intelligible information as to the quality of the workmanship. And could very well be planted by Western Fence.

They give competitive pricing and deliver quality made fences. Perfect, professional lines.

Spoke to JC and sent him a pick of what I was looking for and what I have. He said he would get back to me and I waited over a week with a few reminders, no reply back at all. I'm glad I did not have this company, I hate to think about having to call them if I have an issue with the fence/gate breaking.

Western fence has severe customer service issues. If by chance you have any type of problem and let them know you are not going to be satisfied. Western Fence treats their customers in an adversarial manner rather than making an effort to investigate or to understand or solve the problem.

Receptionist and JC (the manager/project manager) seemed nice when I called but then when I followed up and sent the drawings of my proposed fence JC didn't respond at all even though I called and left three messages.
