For these healthcare professional clients, who wanted an open floor plan coupled with engaging details, we designed a space that highlights the view and the fireplace as focal points. A custom iron railing and stairs adds interest; the recessed ceiling above the living room defines it as separate, while it remains connected to the dining room and kitchen.

Kitchen

To update a very old kitchen, we opened the wall to the dining room with a large arch, removed the chimney to improve storage, added a corner of windows, and installed new cabinets and french doors that matched the craftsman character of the home. Simple elements like cork floors and vibrant colors finished the space to make it fully functional and fun.

Basement

Report

The client wanted to convert a cluttered and little-used basement, with level access to the backyard, into the bedroom floor with additional family/flex room. By exposing joists to create ceiling height and opening up the hallway to upstairs and outdoor light, it became a bright and airy space.
