Precision Leak Detection

I am a first time pool owner and our pool guy advised us that we possibly had a leak. My husband is a plumber by trade, so he contacted Precision Leaks Detection since we have referred many clients to them in the past to find the leaks for them and seemed to have done a decent job. When he called to make an appointment, he was asked a number of questions by the person over the phone, and he was told it would be $675.00 to come and check the pool (and confirmed via email).

They also took down his credit card information since they needed that in order to book the appointment. When the techs came they advised that they could not check our whole system since it was a pop up system that required two techs to be there. The tech also said that it would be an additional charge and would take all day. Again, being first time pool owners, we had no clue what type of system we have and when the appointment was made no one asked that question.

The techs were there for less than 10 minutes and they just took pictures. As the techs walked away one of them told my husband that there would be a "service fee" (gave no price) and that the office would call me with more details, to which I replied ok. However, no one mentioned there would be a service fee even if no work was performed when the appointment was made, nor was that included in the confirmation emails.

And again no work was done at all. We waited all day and phone call that never came. Fast forward two days later and WHAM! We get hit with a $185.00 service fee. Not only were they not upfront about this fee, but our card was charged without authorization from us on the amount. This is a terrible business practice! Furthermore, we received a ridiculous quote of $2785.00 to perform the leak detection to the entire system.

This was just to find the leak! Not to make any repairs. We contacted another company to perform the leak detection and they only charged us $650.00 and found the leak the same day. It would have been an additional $500.00 to check the rest of the system which they didn't need to. Needless to say, I encourage everyone NOT to use this company unless you are looking for a ridiculous quote and charges to your card without your knowledge. I will no longer be referring any of our clients to this company, and will let them know to stay away from Precision Leak Detection.

Got the message from East Bay MUDD that we were using too much water so we called Precision Leaks to see if it was from the pool. The inspector was really nice and did a thorough inspection including diving in and reported there was a leak in our old light that he fixed and a crack at the tile line that we would need to get fixed. In the process of finding a contractor for that small job, we stopped filling our pool and watched the water dropped drastically, and below the light line.

Another inspector came, took one look, and showed us a huge crack -over 3 feet- at the bottom of our 12 foot deep end. Totally missed by Precision and changed the process to fix it. The inspector was very nice but not sure how he missed this.

We had recently moved into our first home and had noticed persistent water staining on the stucco and suspected a plumbing leak within the wall. We got on the estimate schedule (2 months out), but were seen in about a week and a half since there were some cancellations. The intake caller was very helpful regarding what we should expect at the estimate appointment.

The business owner responded and came to our home. He determined that we did not have a leak, but had excess moisture from the mulch (too much and too close to our house) being sucked up by the stucco. Being first time homeowners we felt a bit silly, but he did not make us feel that way. Instead, he educated us on how to look at the water meter to determine if a leak/higher water usage was present, and how to fix the exterior excess moisture issue.

He even marked the location of the meter for the City with blue paint. The owner was a true professional, spent the time to educate us and answer all of our questions. We never felt rushed and I would hire them again without hesitation. Side note: I did a lot of research and called many other companies. Those companies either did not respond, charged a fee to travel/provide an estimate, did not seem to have any experience with in-wall leak detection or had less than stellar reviews.

They came out just before dark turn some valves on our swimming pool said they would be back. It's been six week and nothing. I guess I need to find someone else. Rating is - 5 stars

I had had leaks from our swimming pool for over a year. After several "tries" and companies to fix this, Precision gave me a report which showed exactly what needed to be done and where. They then gave me a list of companies who would be able to do the work and were first class. I used one of the companies they recommended - and they fixed everything. Called precision leak to arrange an appt and was quoted $675 to come and inspect the pool. I thought this is kind of high, however I also spoke with in depth leak detection and they were $650. the only thing that rubbed me was speaking with the scheduler of the phone - i informed them that another competiitor was at $650 and would they match that price - they said, no, nice try.go and review yelp reviews and pick your best provider. wow, you will not move for $25 knowing you have increased your prices untold amounts because covid. i don't know, I will probably cancel the appt and wait for the market and prices to settle a bit. the way they are pricing this could be a $2K plus fix. i asked my neighbor who reccommended i call precision and asked how much she paid and she said not more than $700 for inspection and fixing the leak and that was just before covid hit.just remember - customer service is not for when times are good, its for when things get rocky.

HORRIBLE "customer service" over the phone - you ask a SIMPLISTIC question and their brains just MELT SIMPLE QUESTION: What TYPE of detection is used - these chickee poos fumbled that ball.not once.not twice.but THREE TIMES Will be going elsewhere where people can answer SIMPLE questions for POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS

My pool is quite old and developed some leaks, Jim Morris came to check things out. He gave a very professional report and was prompt at getting back to me to answer some additional questions. They aren't the cheapest company but I'm going to go with them because of their professionalism and knowledge about how to correct the problem. Only issue is that there is a long wait time for an appointment, hopefully scheduling a time for repair won't be as long as when I was booking for inspection. I'll post an update after the repair is completed, but so far I highly recommend them.

I just had a new filter and a fancy variable speed pimp installed because the old equipment was simply OLD and wearing out. The filter tank was leaking so it needed to be replaced. In the process we noticed air was getting into the system and the water level was still going down faster than it should. Could not find any obvious leaks so we called several leak detection services. Called on September 7th and all of them had their first available appointment in early NOVEMBER.

Of course I asked to be on the wait-list for anything earlier. Precision Leak Detection called on the 9th that they could come the very next day! The technician Renaro de Garcia arrived on time and proceeded very methodically looked for leaks. He pressurized the intake line with nitrogen and it showed no leaks. Big sigh of relief as I did not want to dig up the concrete that covered that pipe.

He donned wetsuit and scuba tanks and inspected every crack in the pool with dye. A leak would suck the dye into the leak. A small leak was found by the skimmer. He showed me how it sucked in the dye. Well that explains water lose but not the source of the air leak. He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. He inspected EVERYTHING and found just a bit of moisture, not even a full drop, at the transition from copper to PVC.

All was fixed easily once we knew where the leaks were. What I really liked was their waitlist was actually great. With demand so high, I was expecting to wait at least a month. Having them come within three days was close to a miracle. Renaro, a young man, was very courteous, friendly, willing to share with what he sees and thinks as he is doing his work.

I learned a lot that day. The only downside was the price. It's not higher than competitors but the same service would have cost 1/3 less pre-Covid but with demand months into the future it's understandable. It was a real pleasure working with this company.

They were very prompt. I called and spoke with customer service about our issue, then the next day Jim was able to come out and find the leak. The price isn't cheap but other companies quoted more and would have taken longer. Thanks for the help!

After unprofessional service with another leak detection service I did not try another for about 2 years. Jim, our service representative, was highly professional and after a thorough inspection he found nothing, then remarked that it must be further downstream. And it was! Jim was highly professional and friendly. Your business was worth every penny. I would recommend you to anyone I know in the Bay Area with a leak problem!

I called Precision Leak Detection based on a recommendation from my pool service provider. I got an appointment for almost 3 months later as they were really busy; however, they did put me on a waiting list in case of any cancellations. Eventually they called when they had an availability 1 week earlier - so kudos to the office staff on their follow-up!

Their technician, Ron, came for the leak detection - he arrived on-time, was very professional and clearly explained the process/steps he was going to take to find the leak. He thoroughly checked the spa, various lines and detected the leak in one of the return lines of the pool. He also shared other recommendations for the upkeep of the pool. Overall had an excellent experience with Precision so far. I have not yet fixed the leak issue; therefore, once the work is complete then we will definitely know if the cause of the leak was correctly identified.

Came back and fixed our pool! Water level hasn't dropped at all since. Wish we did this a long time ago. Service was fast, efficient and fairly priced.

The technician that worked on our pool was so knowledgeable and helpful! He thoroughly checked all of our pool pipes and water features to ensure everything was functioning well. He took the time to explain how things worked and showed us how to improve the functionality of our pool Highly recommend!

They were ok found the leak it was 395 for two hours even if they didn't need it. and more if they need more then two hours it took form when they came in beginning of Nov 2020 intill the middle of Jan 2021 to get the report. They did leave a flag by the leak for plumber to see

They charged my grandma $600 to attempt to find a leak in the hottub, using all their fancy tools and everything. They didn't find the leak and water continued to leak. Our pool guy was able to locate and fix the leak within 30 minutes of looking about a week later when he came out. Really upsetting that "professionals" couldn't locate a leak that a generalist could.

They assessed and diagnosed the problem correctly, determining that my hardware and garage door were in good shape, and it was my opener that was failing. The scope of work was quoted adequately. The technician was professional, efficient and did a quality job. I'm very happy with the opener they installed for my garage door.

Not only were Precision Leak Detection able to move me up the schedule, but they showed up when promised, were super informative and professional. Ron did an outstanding job getting my pool & equipment tested and explained everything to me along the way. He addressed all my long standing concerns with my pool and thoroughly checked them out. These are the guys you want when you find a leak in your pool. Or, anywhere. Five star service and quality of work Had a monster pool pipe break. They are busy. Booked out a few weeks, but if you are flexible, we were moved up when someone cancelled. The leak detection service with technician "Jim" was excellent and great value. It was about $500 to find the leak using nitrogen gas and sonor.

He even scuba dived in the pool to get to the floor vents. Problem identified and it was a big pipe break. So they also do repair. Jesus, repair technician is an another awesome guy. Had to saw my concrete and roto hammer out the gunite to get to the pipe. Two day job, but for most guys would have been three. This dude is a hard worker. No eight hour bankers hours for Jesus.

He works til it's done. End result was very professionally done and asthetically pleasing. And, these are decent good people. Jessica and Shannon in the office were also great, working with me to fine a solution. I'm not a Yelp poster. But this team is what business should be. I wish you all much success.

If you have a leak Kevin's the guy you want to come out. We had running water coming from one of our pipes when all the water was shut off in our home. We called Kevin and he was able to come within a couple of hours of us speaking. The leak was located in our bathroom and found with our removing the floor. Kevin is very knowledgeable in locating leaks he utilizes the latest technology to locate the issue and marks it. We thank you Kevin and we definitely recommend Precision Leak Detection

If you have a pool leak you can't figure out, these guys are the best! Ron came out hooked up his equipment to do his trouble shooting and testing, marked the spot he detected to be the area of the leak, and I'll be damn, when I broke up the concrete and dug up the area, Ron was spot on, amazing to watch him at work, real professional and dosen't mind explaining everything to you. They will give you an estimate for the repairs also, I am just a DIY kinda guy when I can.

Tremendous. I did not know this specialty existed until my EBMUD bill was astronomically high. Jessica empathized, educated me and fit me into a last minute availability. Jim arrived and immediately impressed us with his efficient, expert and service-oriented approach. I'm grateful! Water leaks are a potential disaster. I highly recommend Precision Leak Detection.

Precision leak was very easy to work with - they emailed & called & kept me up to date on progress. Scheduling was quick & easy w/o a super long wait time. The technicians who did the leak detection & repair were great - super friendly & clear with their communications. We would use them again for sure.
