Our experience with Dermot at Goodlife Kitchens was incredibly positive. I collected quotes from Lowes and Home Depot, in addition to a large local showroom, and was surprised by the high prices, even with "20%+ discounts" applied. Dermot's quote was thousands less without sacrificing the features that we wanted such as wide drawer lowers and pull-out, soft-close pantry shelves.

He consulted on our design and even spoke with our contractor about installation when the time came. When we needed a replacement cabinet, Dermot had one rushed to us. We've been using our kitchen for about 6 months now and we're very happy with the quality. You won't regret this choice.

Dermot at Goodlife Kitchens was absolutely AMAZING in my search for new kitchen cabinets. First of all, he explained to me many different types of wood types, and how the pros/cons of each for the kitchen, and was extremely patient about it as well. Secondly, his prices are absolute amazing and will beat out those of big box stores (like Home Depot and Lowe's). Lastly, he was extremely patient in coming over to my house to remeasure parts of the kitchen just to make sure that everything was correct, and was also patient when I had changed the order several times near the last minute. If there were more stars we would give them. Dermot has been AMAZING to work with. He has help us with our new kitchen, or new bathroom and the area around our fireplace. With his years of experience he makes great suggestions of styles and models, and types of wood and colors. He made sure he took precise measurements, and walked us through where gaps would be and how to efficiently use our space.

He wouldn't admit it but he is awesome with the software that he uses, providing us with detail layouts, 3D modeling and even colors to see what might work. When we were ready to place the order, he walked through everything again to make sure we understood everything, he couldn't have made the ordering process more fun and easy. THANKS!

You could not find a better person than Dermot Howard to work with on your home renovations. He is extremely knowledgeable and hardworking, and a complete pleasure to work with. He completed our project on time and on budget. Dermot supervised the remodel of our kitchen in mid-2016. We have an older house in the Marina and the kitchen floor plan presented a number of challenges. Dermot worked tirelessly with us through numerous iterations of the overall layout and the selection of appropriate cabinets. Dermot worked around our schedule and he was always available for consultation.

The KraftMaid cabinets are lovely and we were impressed at the large variety of sizes and designs. Dermot's knowledge of the product and his attention to detail were key to reaching an excellent layout for our kitchen. The subcontractors recommended by Dermot (tile, electrical, plumbing, painting) also were excellent. To know Dermot is to love him. We only wish that he could help us with all of our other projects. We strongly recommend Dermot and KraftMaid.

Goodlife is just awesome. Working with Dermot (the owner) is a dream -- he has excellent design sense, he is a pleasure to work with, he always comes through, he stays on time and on budget. He knows how to give valuable advice and also how to take himself out of the equation, in just the right ratio. We took our kitchen down to the studs; the project remarkably cheap for what we got. And fast -- about 6 weeks from demolition to being able to cook again. I just can't say enough good things about Dermot and Goodlife.

I cannot begin to say enough good things about Dermot. I originally met him when I was looking for someone to do the cabinets (kitchen, bathroom, laundry room) for our 1890's Victorian. We were undertaking a large scale remodel/restoration. He was extremely patient with changes and offered great ideas and suggestions. Fast forward 4 months and I contacted him again as our plans were finally done and were ready to get going.

I asked him for some General Contractor referrals, which he gave me, along with himself. I had no idea he was a GC! After getting three bids we decided to go with Dermot. From day one he stepped in and help us sort out some problems with our plans, driving up to the architect in Santa Rosa several times without hesitation. The remodel took approximately 9 months, start to finish.

We left our home for 5 months and he worked tirelessly to get us back home as soon as possible (we were in the house during the last 4 months of the job). We have dealt with many contractors and projects over the years (never anything of this large scale) and never had anything gone as seamless as this. He came in on time and on budget, did many extra things without asking for money, and the quality of the work was superb.

All of the subs (plumber, carpenter, electrician, floors, drywall, etc.) were great to work with as well. In summary, Dermot was a joy to work with and is a person of high integrity. Lastly, we are thrilled with our Kraftmaid cabinets! They look beautiful, and the fit and finish is outstanding.

He even helped me install parts that my installers couldn't, with no extra charge. After we finished the cabinet installation he recommended a great contractor for doing the backsplash. We're happy we decided to go with him.

Never thought I'd get a local merchant able to beat the hated big box behemoth! Dermot remodeled 2 full baths and a kitchen for us in 2012. We are very OCD and did a lot of research beforehand. We interviewed a wide range of contractors, designers, companies - everything from trendy design firms to Home Depot and Lowe's. Dermot is your go-to for kitchen cabinets, bath cabinets, and and kitchen remodel jobs. He's very communicative, honest, gives you the bottom-line price (and tells you it's not the rock-bottom price), and can throw in some ideas about design if you're clueless or about to do something you will regret big-time.

He's extremely patient (one of our email threads went over 100 messages), completed our project in the time frame he gave us, and was always cheerful about his work. He helped us on every aspect of the project: design, cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures, electrical, demolition/permits, etc. Several months later, he and his subcontractors have been out to fix/follow up on any issues that came up rather than dumping us like I am sure others would have.

It might be a bit cheaper to do this through Home Depot, but the hassle and headache won't be worth it. Save money by going for the generic toilet paper, not the corporate contractor. We wholeheartedly recommend Dermot and Goodlife Kitchens.

About 9 years ago I bought kitchen cabinets at Goodlife Kitchens from Dermot Howard. Not only I received an outstanding service and advice during purchasing process, but the quality of the kitchen cabinets was (and currently is) outstanding. The cabinets are looking now exactly as they were brand new after their delivery nine years ago. Recently I noted that the screw on the one of my cabinets was bent (credit to my grandson who was using it as his playground gym), I contacted Dermot and asked for an advice. I started working with Dermott at Goodlife Kitchens two years ago when we bought this place. After several false starts, we completed the project this year. Each time, Dermott was patient in taking us through all of the options, explaining the pros and cons thoughtfully. He sent us drawings and estimates, no fuss, no pressure. The carpentry and cabinets are perfect, exceeding even our wildest expectations. His tile guy was amazing, taking ordinary tile and making it into something truly special. As a Nopa Mama with kids in the local school it is nice to walk by his shop and kids always get a wave and a tickle. Support your local biz, huge corporations or this guy? He is so cheery and the follow through is unique. Also waaay cheaper then the big guys which was my motivation to buy my kitchen through him in the first place. It still looks great(I am a foodie and hard on my K) but what I remember about his shop was he asked are you a baker or a cook?

What do you cook? Still I think about the guidance I got and how my dream kitchen is v. productive cos he asked the right q.s. I t would be silly not to get one of your quotes from him.
