Torsion springs have a life expectancy of 10,000 cycles. If you open your garage door 3-4 times each day, your spring should last 6-10 years. Changes in ambient temperature can influence spring life and often induce failure in a weakened spring. If you have more than one spring on your garage door, but only one has failed, the other is usually not too far behind.
