We have had great experiences as repeat clients of Carrig Kitchens over several years and would highly recommend Mark to anyone contemplating a kitchen or cabinet project in the Boston area. Mark has helped us design and build a kitchen, wetbar, bathroom vanity and numerous custom storage solutions. We are very picky, and Mark's work has consistently exceeded our expectations.
We started with a blank canvas as we had gutted a condo. Mark's advice and guidance was essential in helping bring our dream kitchen to life. Mark took the time to listen to us and understand our vision and concerns. Then he set about executing and improving our concept. He convinced us to change the orientation of the kitchen is the room, move fixture locations, enlarge our island and resize certain cabinets.
He discussed the design of each and every cabinet with us to make sure it was the right size, location and configuration for the intended contents. For example, he worked with us to make sure the upper cabinet for our plates and bowls would be deep enough to allow my wife to easily reach our oversize plates, but not too deep to have smaller bowls get lost in the back.
We love working with Mark because our confidence in his management. He takes ownership in his projects and stops by frequently during installation to make sure the contractor is doing things correctly. We have gone back to him again and again for various projects because we know they will be done right. When our custom butcher block counter was damaged by FedEx during shipping, Mark worked with the manufacturer and FedEx to quickly resolve the issue and have a replacement fabricated and delivered in just a couple of weeks.
Mark has also helped us save money on numerous occasions. He guided us to a high quality, but lower-cost cabinet manufacturer. We asked him to become a representative for a certain quartz line that he hadn't previously carried because we didn't trust the quote we had gotten--we wound up saving us thousands on a single order. The kitchen Mark created for us is the centerpiece of our home. We absolutely love it and we truly could not have done it without him.

We had a very different experience working with Mark than the other reviewers. I'm guessing the key difference is that Mark was used as a subcontractor to our GC, rather than direct. We leveraged Mark to help us with cabinet selection and layout. He walked us through all the options, showed us lots of examples of previous work, and gave us suggestions.
He was responsive and flexible, worked with us and our timetable to get us everything we needed. Our GC double-checked all of Mark's measurements and layout, as well as doing all the installation for us. We did not experience any of the issues that others mention, perhaps for that reason. Our renovated kitchen is absolutely beautiful and we are happy with Mark's work.

Like the previous review, we had a similar experience with Carrig Kitchens. Although our cabinets appear to be good quality, the process of getting them ordered and installed was a complete headache. We had a strict budget which was ignored, items that we were adamant be included were "optional" on the final proposal and thus, incurred an extra cost.
After we signed the contract, we were told that a couple of the cabinets we ordered simply couldn't be made so we had to go back to the drawing board. In the ninth hour, Mark decided on his own that he would increase the size of our sink cabinet (even though he had our sink dimensions weeks in advance) and told us on the fly that it was already done.
We had an issue with our trash cabinet which was not addressed by Mark because he didn't deem it to be a problem. A few of the brackets that hold the shelves have already broken and because of previous conversations with him, it's just not worth it for us to try and get him to replace them (it's only been 6 months). The list goes on and on.

Mark resells quality products, but his design and sub-contractors left much to be desired. He made many mistakes throughout the process which left me with a sink not centered on the window, and a seam in my granite where none was necessary. Cleanup was also non-existent, I had to spend several hours breaking down cardboard after the cabinet installation. Nice guy, but no attention to detail. If you're feeling brave, please message me through Yelp before you engage Mark and I'll give you all the details.
