Decks
Report
For some contractors, a deck is little more than a glorified platform tacked on to a house. But at Yancey Company, every deck design is tailored to the homeowner's needs. We consider the appearance and structure of your dwelling, your plans for the new deck and the natural lighting on your property. Safety, privacy and convenience are also top concerns.

The centerpiece of any bathroom, the vanity is something that should be selected with care. Our Sacramento bathroom remodeling experts can help you choose from stock, semi-custom and custom options. With stock vanities, you're typically limited to fiberboard or particleboard. As you move into semi-custom and custom options, the possibilities expand considerably.

We bought a home that was remodeled by Yancey. What a nightmare. All looks great but underneath it all things are just terrible. Leaking bathrooms and crown molding not finished. Paint job on cabinets was poorly painted all the way down to screws showing through the Sheetrock. Leaking windows, outlets not working and just to much more to add In this review.
I 'm not sure if they higher terrible subcontractors but you might want to steer clear. Made a few calls in the beginning to just get some paint colors and they acted like it was just a pain to look in a file to find. We have had so much repair to do just because it wasn't done properly. Looks good but looks can be deceiving. Caveat emptor

This company did a remodel for us. After the heavy rain in October, there were multiple leaks in the walls. We contacted them and they scheduled a time to come out. They didn't show up! We scheduled again and guess what? Another no show! How about a third time? No show! How would you feel if you took time off of work (3 times!)to wait for them to show up and they don't?
Obviously your time and money doesn't matter to them. Very unreliable, unprofessional and full of excuses. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Once they got your money, you don't matter!

Don't bother with this company. I called to get an estimate of adding 100 square feet by expanding two walls and add a shower to the existing bathroom/space needing to be expanded. The representative, Jordan, had called me back and forth five times all to tell me they wouldn't come give an actual estimate. Our first conversation, he estimated 75k-85k, but he himself said he is not the estimator and every job varies.
I thought $750/sq foot seemed pricey, but still wanted a professional to come and review the job. He asked what I had budgeted, tens of thousands of dollars, and said that wasn't enough. I proceeded to ask, what his supervisor estimated the project and he replied, "I don't know." I am not sure how this business actually makes it by not reviewing and giving estimates to projects.

We had work done in 2018.remodeled kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Had Ian issue with a cabinet, it took them a year to get part. Recently called because our kitchen faucet leaks. Ordered part a and received part in Feb of 2021. Waiting for part installation for 3 months. Also have raised an issue about fan above the microwave that doesn't seem to work properly. Was told it would be checked out when they come to fix faucet.
This was a fancy sub contractor that did work for yancey. When we signed up for our projects we were told about 2 months out to sart. T hey finally subtracted the job after 5 months of us waiting. They just don't seem to have enough people? Our projects are still under warranty until july. It is may. Seems a lot of waiting is required of this company. They are not on top of their game

We had a bathroom remodel done with Yancey. Our salespeople were great very happy and excited about the job and had us really excited. They helped us pick everything out, they appeared to know what we needed and it all appeared to be great and was going to work out. Our home is older, built in the 70's, so we needed a new bathroom. Well, fast forward another guy came out to measure and that went smooth.
It was time for the job to begin (we had a huge delay due to COVID). The guy who came out to do the work was great! He knew his stuff, keep in mind we had a complete bathroom remodel and they only sent one guy for the job. eekkk! The sales people and the gal from Yancey said the job was going to take two weeks. Well, guess what that did not happen, the guy who came out to measure did not measure correctly so, they had to order everything from Chicago, that pushed us back a week, well actually two weeks, so now we are at three weeks into this bathroom remodel. Well, then the parts they ordered were the wrong size again, so back to the reordering again, there goes another two weeks, so we are in to month two of the remodel. Well, guess what the doors are not made yet for the shower that will be another week, so now we are just shy of two months into this remodel.
The entire project took two months, not two weeks so be prepared for the job to take a lot longer then they say. If you do not have more than one bath you might want to go with another company because they will take longer than they say. Make sure the person who comes out to measure does it a few times because they did not measure right at all, that caused huge delays!
The bathroom looks ok, not worth the amount of money we paid for it. I am actually really disappointed with the job, I actually cried because it's just not what we wanted at all. I have been decorating it but it just is not the bathroom I wanted to do relax and take a bath. I have a bathtub but I just really have no desire to use it. bummer right!
It just makes me sad because it took so long to complete and it just is not worth the money we paid. I guess lesson learned on this one, an expensive lesson though. Just get a lot of estimates and make sure you choose better than I did. :(

This guy came in and did absolutely no measuring in our very small kitchen and quoted us $35K for cabinets and countertops. Our house is only 1000 sq ft and our kitchen is tiny. He bumped his head! We have bought the cabinets and granite slab for countertops and a farmhouse sink for less than 6k. Shop around, we are in a pandemic and Yancey got jokes!

Yancey responded faster than anyone else getting me an estimate. Some places I contacted took all the info, measurements, etc and never followed up with the estimate. Yancey had a nice showroom to pick out all your items and they help you coordinate everything. Again I was given an appointment promptly. The two contractors they sent to do the work were very professional and they communicated with me on everything.
They kept my place as clean as possible during the process. There are a mind blowing amount of tools and supplies for a single bath remodel and they did an excellent job of keeping things organized. They worked almost every day for three weeks, always showed up on time, and with my permission they worked some weekends to get it done, . Overall, I am very happy but with one caveat, make sure you go over your estimate thoroughly and make sure everything, measurements, colors etc are correct. Also take a picture of and write down all items you chose. It makes it easier to pick out coordinating items ahead of time.

This company is like a car dealer. Stay away. Their entire sales approach is gimmicky, and I'm so glad we walked away prior to giving them our money. The salesman was very friendly, but the entire thing is a joke. He came to our home 3 times (which is all part of the gimmick), the 4th time you go to their showroom. When he first came to our house the cost was quoted from $35k - $45 (max), with it being closer to the middle ($40k).
Somehow the number kept creeping up although there was NEVER a breakdown of what anything cost. He repeatedly reassured us that we would receive a breakdown in the showroom so that we could determine where we could cut cost if desired. Once in the showroom, which is hours long, he presented us with a $60k quote, but told us he was giving us discounts down to $48k.
The $48k was still above the original amount quoted, but where did the $60k come from?! NEVER was $60k mentioned anywhere at anytime. It seemed to be part of the gimmick to get us to sign a contract right there, like we were getting some great deal. he even mentioned how we were the last customers to get a lower cost on the quartz due to price increases, but we had to sign the contract THAT day in order to lock in the price.
It was all presented as if they were giving us a great deal. We selected ALL base level items so were confused as to how we went over the original $35k-$45k quote. When we asked for a breakdown to see where we could cut costs, we were told they absolutely cannot provide a breakdown as it is proprietary (yet he repeatedly told us we would be able to see a breakdown in order to cut costs if desired).
By the end of the 14 million hours you have spent in their showroom you are exhausted, and pretty much willing to sign the contract just to get out of there. The entire thing was BS and such a waste of time. Thankfully my husband said he wanted a few days to digest the quote, and the salesman asked us what he could do to get us to sign today (car dealership, much?).
We set a phone call to speak with the salesman a couple days later. When I emailed to tell him we didn't think we should move forward, he didn't even respond. Literally we have never heard from the guy again. I think that gives a glimpse of how they handle customer service. This place is going to rip you off. Steer clear!

Linda Louis did a fantastic job of assisting me with a Mr. Steam shower seat. Parts needed replacing and thanks to her superior customer service I was able to work through the problem. Without her assistance I was ready to tear the wall out and replace. Yancey Co is lucky to have such a valuable employee.

Our salesman was great and enthusiastic. He showed up wearing a mask and was very thorough and receptive to our needs for house windows and sliding glass doors. Due to Covid there was a long delay in manufacturing which is understandable. Other bad reviews about this company have come to fruition for us with unexpected delays in installation. The lack of communication was horrible along with mis-Communication and a total lack of empathy.
When we finally got our windows installed, the installation guys were awesome and got the job done in three days, and it looks great. Just a sidenote, if you live in Galt- there is no need to spend $500 for City permits for new windows. Someone did pocket $500 from me, and you're welcome!

Very happy with our master bathroom remodel by Yancey. I don't typically write these reviews, but these guys impressed us. From start to finish, the staff was professional, and the job was completed in a timely manner at a reasonable cost. Our sales rep, Scott Tueckes, did a fantastic job guiding our project and offered helpful design suggestion during his visits to our home.
He followed through during the construction phase to resolve minor issues. Linda, the office coordinator, did a good job keeping us informed about scheduling and was quick to process electronic change orders. Our general contractor, Misha, did great work and kept us informed along the way. The bulk of the project was tile work, and the installer, Oleg, did a truly incredible job.
He's meticulous in his work, and always asked our preference before making an irreversible decision. If you have the fortune of getting him on your job, you won't be disappointed. The project had some minor hiccups along the way, but all were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. There are probably cheaper ways to do a remodel, but the folks at Yancey do quality work at a fair price.

While our bathroom looked nice initially, it has gone down hill quickly. Getting them to take care of things in a timely manner was very difficult with lots of hoops to jump through. Now that we have had the bathroom 3 years, we would not recommend this company, especially when considering price As of now our bathrooms is looking right again. I appreciate that the company came back to redo our shower. We are hopeful it will last a while!

These people were extremely rude and difficult to deal with. I called to set up an estimate for 2 complete bathroom remodels. I met with a person named Jeremiah. I was hassled from the beginning with questions to see "if I really wanted a bathroom from them." His own actual words. Then they asked my budget, and weren't too happy with my guesstimate.
He told me it would be 25-30k for each bathroom. I said ok and after hesitation Jeremiah started my estimate. This was the start of a horrible experience. I called for 2 complete bathroom remodels, my first quote came in at what he told me but without a vanity, mirror, and light fixture.? It is a tiny bathroom and I was told the majority of cost was from the winged tile walls and tiled shower.
I was also told verbally my second bathroom would be approx same cost even though it had no tile walls or shower to tile at all. I thought that was the bulk of the cost as I was told? After lots of running me around he refused to quote my second bathroom and said I should "just do the first, and see if I like the work, " before proceeding with the rest.
It was obvious from the beginning they assumed based on my younger age and appearance, that I didn't have the money to pay their exuberant prices / up sells and and I was just a waste of time. My opinion is this company seeks out wealthy and or older people who will not blink an eye on the price. Or complain when the prices are much higher then the estimate.
They justify it with an extremely hard sell on the "quality" they do, even though they get a lot of complaints. They make you watch a Super gimmicky video on how long they have been around and blah blah. They will also try to get you to sign a contract on the spot and pressure you harder then a used car lot. They will get mad when you don't sign the contract, even though they refused to provide a break down on cost.
They also told me if I didn't sign right away, the price was no longer valid. I felt extremely disrespected by Jeremiah. This was a huge waste of a few hours of my time. I will spend my money elsewhere. Thanks Jeremiah. After dealing with that, I was speaking with my father and found out Yancey company actually did his roof and he said it was the worst experience he's had.
They took forever with him after he signed, were careless with installation, and after the process started the price kept jumping up to over 7k more then quoted. This company only wants to deal with you if they see you as an easy target. They will up sell you as much as possible after the process starts so you feel you have no choice. You will not get a breakdown of price and the cost will most definitely be much higher then the already high estimate.

Yancey did our roof, window retrofit and bathroom, we found them VIA Angie's List and after several total flops, they were our choice. I don't know what to say other than they're AMAZING! No subcontractors, no hidden costs, the guys they sent out to do the work were all amazing to work with and just genuinely good folks. I especially should point out that Slavic who did our bathroom is a certified badass, that dude worked his ass off and the outcome was nothing short of amazing! We couldn't be happier with the work, or with Yancey. They'll be getting all of our future business for sure.

I had both bathrooms remodeled and I practically have PTSD over the experience. You will be dazzled by a charming sales person, then on the day of renovation a complete stranger will show up. This person will have no regard for how you feel, or what you think. If you are a single female, you will be intimidated and your opinions will be dismissed.
They will try to get you to use their friends on the side to fix the things they are not doing well such as drywall repair or moving an outlet, both of which were part of the origInal contract. Except when you ask for an itemized bill they won't give you one. "We don't do that" is the response I got, on more than one occasion. I had to hire someone (NOT their friends) to fix the drywall (drywall repair and texture matching was included), and when they replaced the sloppy drywall patch they found a live outlet that was pushed in and patched over.
I was told they couldn't move it because of "code", yet they thought tucking it on the other side other side of the drywall was ok. Hired an electrician to move it where it was a suppose to be, made sure I specifically asked the inspector if there was any concern with where it was and he said no, it was perfectly fIne where it was. Not sure why Yancy had a problem moving it over the 6 inches as planned. I've never felt so dismissed and uncomfortable with how the lead contractor treated me throughout the process.
The billing is not transparent. The communication Is horrible. The contractors respect for the client is nonexistent. A positive. the tile work was quite good. Overall, two years later and still trying to settle things with Yancey - it's been a nightmare.

Our shower remodel looks great and is safer thanks to the new safety bars. Dan and Jessie did a wonderful job installing everything, were helpful in scheduling the work to fit with our schedule, were very knowledgeable, and gladly answered all our questions. Yancy was very easy to work with, and addressed any questions we had promptly. We are satisfied customers!

I received multiple bids to replace the roof on my 1956 ranch-style home (1200 sq ft). Yancey's price was $3k higher than other bids but I liked the "license, bonded, High-Quality product, 50+ yr warranty". Once the rains finally stopped. Yancey jumped on the project, tearing off the old roof in the first day. I was told an additional $2800 was needed to fix rafter tail dry rot, install a new Chimeny Saddle, and a few other issues.
I knew extra costs could arise once the roof was removed but this felt extraordinarily high. After discussing my concerns with their Office Manager (Jeff?) they agreed to address "required" repairs (dry rot, chimney saddle) for $1880 extra. They also threw-in some labor to install new facia boards I had purchased for the project. In the end - I paid more than expected but have a solid roof and a great warranty.

I had an appointment scheduled for a bathroom remodel I am in the midst of working through and Steve Coker came out to give me an estimate on what I wanted to do next. It was clear that my budget was not compatible with the amount Steve said would be needed to do the job, that was unfortunate as he drove all the way up from Tracy. Instead of bailing right away as other companies have since I wasn't the cash cow they were looking for. Steve hung out for a bit and offered to answer any questions I had about what I needed to do next and what materials would best suit my needs for the remaining portions of the job.
He was super realistic about costs and processes and said that at any time I could call him for answers to questions that come up along the way as I progress through the project. I appreciated his direct honesty and guidance. He took the time to treat me like a neighbor even though the company wasn't going to take the job. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future when tackling jobs that need consultation, design and installation. (One stop shop projects) In the future, when scheduling an appointment.make sure to talk to a contractor from the company and not a rep booking appointments.
I made this appointment while at a homeshow here in sac and I explained my entire situation to the gal booking the appointment and she painted a totally different picture about the capabilities of this company to work with homeowners on small scale jobs. Luckily, Steve cleared all that up and gave me some solid advice, even though it cost him a few hours drive time out of his day!

My inspiration company.my ex-husband used to work for them. One day, about 15 years ago, lol I attempted to submit my resume to this company because I wanted to incorporate myself in to the construction industry. I was young and un-experienced and my resume didn't make it. But I was very inspired by the owners and staff and told myself that one day I would be a someone in this industry. now I'm a supervisor and handle restoration and construction projects here in Vegas, and assist with the Bay Area, Chicago project, and I have my own handyman service company. I love my job and I don't care how dirty I get lol pleasing to see a before and after from tear out to finished remodel.

I had an excellent experience working with Yancey for my home remodel. From the first communication down to the job completion everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend anyone local to this company choose them, you won't be disappointed with the professionalism or the quality of work. And as we know, choosing a contracting company can be a daunting task. Make it less so with Yancey.

I was very sad and frustrated last week after spending several months receiving lackluster followup care from Yancey. I ended leaving a voicemail and then following up a few hours later with another call. I actually connected with a human and not their voicemail. A couple of apologetic follow up calls later, I finally had an appointment set for Yancey to come out. Yancey just finished up and left a little while ago and, I am a MUCH happier client now. Jack, the superintendent, called me a few days prior to the visit to make sure he understood what I needed.
He also came out with the contractor to check the work in person and to ensure I was taken care of. Vio (who was one of the original contractors who worked on the remodel) finished in about 90 minutes. He even took out a stripped screw left behind by the homebuilder that I wasn't able to remove. Some things I learned: those moisture sensing switches that the new building codes now require for bathroom exhaust fans don't work.
They are notorious for just coming on at random times of day for no reason (like mine) For the tile re-grout, Yancey used a silicone based caulk that should provide more flex without cracking as the house continues to naturally settle and shift over time. I even got a free tube of grout. Yay. I'm very happy with Yancey. Their work is very good quality.
During construction, the other tile guy we worked with, Marius, was very helpful and instructional on why we needed to make adjustments here and there. He even made really nice recommendations on finishes and patterns and I really appreciated his eye for detail and pride of workmanship. Even with this recent hiccup on communication, I would recommend them to others. 5 months later, my husband and I are still very happy with how beautiful and modern the remodel looks. Vio and Marius did a great job.

Initial estimator was extremely knowledgeable about project needs and governmental requirements. Project coordinator not only helpful and knowledgeable, but also persisted in pursuing solutions. Workmen were outstanding: Tim accomplished a huge amount of work whether on his own or with Brains contribution.
