Jackson Remodeling

JDB remodeled our second story completely, eliminating wasted dead space from an unused chimney and double walls. They took two bedrooms, one bath and turned it into three bedrooms, one and a half baths. Our new main bath is a mini-oasis for us parents and a splash park for our kiddos! I feel like every bathroom with young children needs a tile surround with a floor drain next to the tub! We couldn't be happier. Working with JDB through the remodeling process was easy-peasy, too!

JDB was professional, courteous, flexible, and accountable throughout the entire design & build process for our basement remodel. We were hands-on clients - we provided a conceptual design to start with, we had particular preferences, and we wanted to self-perform chunks of the work. JDB worked with us every step of the way, providing alternatives, identifying potential pitfalls, and hand-holding when we needed it.

The build team was great. They completed the project on time and on budget, with no unexpected change orders and no major problems. The team took accountability for the few small issues that did arise. They were supportive and flexible with the elements of the work that we did ourselves, giving us plenty of advance notice of their look-ahead schedule and identifying where our work would fit in to keep everything moving. Finally, it was clear that JDB took COVID seriously, and we felt safe throughout construction, which was critical because we were at home for most of the work. We highly recommend them.

I have the greatest praise for the team at Jackson Design Build. I benefited from their creativity, patience, flexibility, professionalism and, perhaps above all, outstanding work and craftmanship on the journey that began in early 2019 when they brought my entry and living room back from water damage to the plaster in my 1920s era house and then through the process later in 2019 of designing a bathroom that is a functional (in a tough upstairs space of angled ceilings) and simply lovely and flowing space and then the work in 2020 to realize that vision and update the rest of the upstairs at the same time.

And all of this in times that we could not have imagined in early 2019 and that created challenges for finding a new way to work and live. Even with the necessary stoppage and delays due to the pandemic, Josh, Chris and the team at Jackson Design Build kept me up to speed on what was coming next and kept workers (and me) safe through the process. The depth of the whole team was stellar, from Lisa's ability to connect with and foster my style, Josh's calm management and Chris's ability to track and get absolutely everything done no matter the challenge and on to the rest of the crew and the talented tradespeople, including Yuri, who worked tirelessly and with such creativity to make the tile even more beautiful; Darren, who created an oasis of blue; Brian, who exemplified patience and diligence on the electrical work; and the floor team, who worked and reworked quickly to finish just as the virus was shutting down everything.

And I'd be remiss by not also praising teams for plumbing, closet design and drywall (especially in creating an arch to mirror an arch finished in plaster). Thank you, Jackson Design Build.

Jackson Design Build was our first choice for a three concurrent projects that took place between November 2019 and January 2020, and we've never had the slightest reason for regret. We've been delighted with the results of all three projects. We were impressed with the professionalism of everyone involved, and the creativity and quality of the work was awesome.

The design process of our complete bathroom remodel was thorough and thoughtful, and the end result is probably the nicest room of our house, now. We're awfully proud of it. Their designer found a way to create a space that looks like the bathroom I'd been dreaming of; she has that gift of making you feel like you've suddenly acquired good taste and style.

They remodeled our main bathroom _while we were still living all around their workspace_, and yet they were unfailingly cheerful and professional, and bang on schedule. They encountered unfortunate surprises, and worked around them like it was nothing. The job was pretty big, and quite complex; they basically completely removed one bathroom, enlarged the resulting space in the very center of our house, and built a complete, brand-new bathroom there; _while never seriously inconveniencing us_, nor ever letting on that trying to do all that with our whole family right underfoot was not their favorite thing ever.

They removed a superfluous kitchen chimney partly in order to address some roof leaking around the flashing; you would never notice that there had been anything there, the work on repairing the roof and the ceiling was so well executed. Currently with all that, we needed suddenly to replace our hot water heater; they found a great one, of a kind I hadn't considered getting, but it's been great and is a very good value.

It was installed and working in no time. And in spite of what great service and quality they represent, they're not even outrageously expensive. They're a great value for the money! And I know I said I had no regrets, but actually I do have one: I should have done that remodel sooner!

The team at Jackson Design-Build is extremely knowledgeable in both construction and design, making for a smooth and sensible collaboration. BUILD LLC has partnered with Jackson on previous projects, and we appreciate the expertise and personal attention they provide to each and every client, ensuring a successful outcome where everyone wins. As a company, they're big enough to tackle complex projects, but small enough to give proper attention to the details. Jackson understands that effective communication is the basis of any successful project.

We had wallboard dropping out of the bedroom ceiling and a leak in the kitchen as well. JDB discovered rot all down the west wall of the house and some problems with the south wall too. They suggested and used more leak-proof ways of dealing with construction details than we originally had while keeping the same look. Now we should be set for a long stretch of low maintenance.

They did an amazing job despite dealing with Covid and the lead on our job going off to start their own business. I highly recommend them: everyone else thinks they are good too so there's a waiting list. When they get to you, you'll get the same conscientious oversight of your job that they gave us.

We could not be happier with the outstanding work of Jackson Design Build and their team! We are recommending them to all our friends! They did all the remodeling part of our earthquake retrofit and made it so smooth! And we were not easy customers: 1) we had a super tight deadline due to our moving out, 2) electrical works needed to be added at the last minute while the work was already under way, 3) and we had to change the scope a few times to accommodate those additional electrical works. Josh, the project manager, was amazing!

Always on top, always available for questions, always on time. He managed all our changes of scopes with the various trades to make sure everything was done on time. Chris the assistant project manager was as dedicated and nice and went the extra mile to find the perfect replacement for some of our tiles in our faux-ceiling which was remodeled 20 years ago. Bart and his colleague did an outstanding job replacing the drywalls.

They also had to patch holes made by the electrician in the ceilings to install new wires. They did such a good job that I could not even see where the holes were drilled! Mitchell who coordinated all the paintings was so great to work with. He most graciously accommodate our various changes of scope. Shannon, who did all the painting, was amazing as well: quick, clean, super professional. Bonnie, in the office, was so nice and efficient and made everything easy! We are so happy with the quality of JDB work that we will hire them for additional work in the house in the fall even though we will be thousands miles away.

Jackson Remodeling performed multiple remodel and improvement projects on my 1905 Ballard house during the 18 years I owned it. Meticulous and professional. I deeply appreciate their attention to site clean up after every single day on the job. Every member of the crew is friendly, personable and professional. Yes, you will probably gulp when you read their estimate but, in my years of dealing with contractors professionally and personally, I firmly believe you get what you pay for. This is particularly so with old houses.

We hired Jackson for a kitchen & bath remodel of our 1903 house. We hired them in part because of their specialty in identifying green building solutions, which was important to us. We found them extremely pleasant to work with, they came up with some really great design ideas, especially for our bathroom, and did excellent work.

Thanks to your great crew! They were wonderfully professional. I wish all workmen were like them!

We've used Jackson Remodeling 5 times over the past 15 years. First was to do seismic retrofitting of our old house - bolting the house to the foundation. A couple years later they refinished our bathroom and kitchen (walls, windows, cabinets). After that they rebuilt a fence and tool shed. Our big project was over the winter of 2010-2011 at our new house.

Most people don't have the luxury of sharing pleasant contractor experiences. Fortunately we do. Working with the Jackson Remodeling family was a great experience for us. With Jackson Remodeling, the whole process is a collaboration, not a confrontation. They handled each problem that came up as if it were their own house at stake. Each problem was handled even before we got home.

The Jackson brothers - Erik & Leif orchestrated our remodel in the fall of 2008 after our basement was trashed in a flood the year before. Their meticulous attention to detail and their excellent communication made them an absolute pleasure to work with.

Jackson Remodeling recently updated a very small bathroom in my Wallingford Craftsman home. They also completed a few other odd jobs including replacing a portion of my kitchen counter and replacing the sewer line from my house to the street. I was very pleased with the experience. Erik started by explaining the process and introduced me to the designer, Lisa. Lisa incorporated my ideas with her own suggestions to come up with a beautiful solution for such a small bathroom.

She excels at selecting quality materials. Next, Dan arrived as my general contractor for the job. Dan was polite, took time to explain decision points to me, provided multiple options to solve the issue with my really old floorboards, made friends with my roommates and neighbors to help minimize construction issues, and took great care to make sure the work was top quality.

Our e-mail exchanges, notes on papers on the kitchen counter and occasional phone calls helped to keep lines of communication open through the entire process. I would definitely use Jackson Remodeling again for my next remodel project.

We are very pleased with Jackson Remodeling, and especially pleased with Dan Bower who did the actual work. Jackson / Dan recently removed unwanted paneling from our living room and refinished the walls underneath. In addition, Dan refinished the opening around our front windows, added baseboards where there were none and tied the new trim work in with the existing trim in the rest of the house.

Especially conscious to keeping the costs close to budget, Dan only recommended work that was needed and advised against changes that were costly and unnecessary. The project was completed on time and well within budget, resulting in an impressive finished result! Thanks Jackson and Dan!

Jackson did a seismic retrofit in our basement several years ago. We were very happy. Very professional. Cleaned up thoroughly. Came when promised and finished the job on schedule. The workers were very hard-working, and declined the tip Ioffered them after the job was done. If we ever have another house that needs retrofitting, we will use Jackson.
