The grids or fingers of a DE filter need to be removed and cleaned every six months. A thorough cleaning with a garden hose will remove excess DE cake that has bridged between DE grids, and help remove accumulated wastes, oils and minerals.

We've had Blue Star pool care taking care of us for 16 years. For 16 years every Monday morning at 08:00 they would show up and clean our pool. This was perfect as we have a mentally disabled son who likes to play in the backyard so we keep the gate locked. We knew that every Monday morning at 07:30 we would keep our son in the house and unlock the gate.

Then this year they introduced a problem. They would no longer be showing up at 08:00 Monday morning. They wanted a 5 hour window to access the yard to clean the pool. When we called and tried to explain the problem their solution was for us to use a combination lock on the outside of the gate for them to access the backyard. That does not solve my problem of not knowing when they show up.

It still means that I have to now keep my son and dog confined to the house for a 5 hour window because I have no idea when they are going to show up. If they all of a sudden need a 5 hour window after 16 years they obviously have to many customers so if you are looking for a pool cleaning company I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere.

They called me from a private number to schedule service. When I finally got them on the phone after leaving 2 messages, their next service date was 2 weeks out. I came to Google for reviews and learned they provide terrible service. I called my home warranty company back and requested a new company. They sent JT's Pool Service. They are fantastic.

TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN ELSE WHERE! It's taking two weeks for these people to show up for weekly cleaning. Since June my pool as been green/blue. Not enough chemicals turned the pool green the first week he was hired! it takes two weeks for them to come for ten minutes. He shocks my pool and says he'll be back Friday to vacuum? What!? Then never showed up Friday. Wow.

These people shouldn't be in this business what so ever! It's summer time and my pool shouldn't be green for 3months straight. The person answering the phone must be a child, they never return calls.

Like most folks my home warranty company used them for a service call. We know our pump was broken from our regular pool guys. The earliest they can come out is 3 weeks. I called noting that my Father in law uses them weekly for cleaning and we're down the street. Can they swing by after, "No, 3 weeks". Can I send them pictures of the cracks and robot 3 weeks struck again.

Very frustrating. 3 weeks later they came by and spent 5 minutes to agree that it's broken. Never called us back after the warranty company approved the fix or anything. Person answering the phones never actually answers either. From the Google reviews it looks like it might have changed ownership or they just don't care any more; they used to get 5 star reviews and now it's 1 star for days.

Joke of a pool company. Like the reviews below I was referred by my warranty as my timer was faulty. Called and they couldn't see me for 4 week to diagnose, came and then confirmed the timer was faulty. Had to them wait another 2 weeks for the tech to come and install the new timer. Rude customer service when I asked for an update and they didn't care they were leaving me helpless as I couldn't run anything on my pool. Tech came, replaced the timer and the sweep power is completely gone.

I can't use my pool sweep at all now and the pool is dirty. Texted the tech who told me it was unrelated to the first issue and I'd have to wait for another appointment and pay the service fee yet again. This company doesn't care about their customers, rep, are unprofessional and just in it to make a quick buck. Don't go near this company. I'm still waiting for them to get back and the owner doesn't respond.

Home warranty sent them out, technician came over got his $75 for the visit, told me that they don't have parts and left. I did contact home warranty, they told me to contact Blue Star Pool Care, Ltd. again. I did call Blue Star Pool Care, Ltd. three times spoke to the same person, asked to get for a quote how much the repair will be and how long do I have to wait for the part, every time she told me let me talk to technician and we will contact you, NOTHING! They are ok to get $75 for the visit and disappear. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I was referred to this company by our home warranty and it was the absolute worst customer service. It was a such a huge hassle to get an appointment set. I had to call every time to follow up and the person who answers is extremely rude and not helpful at all. After waiting for weeks a tech finally comes out only to say the part won't be in for months and didn't know if the home warranty would cover it which I understand but as a professional could've given more options as I was able to find the part needed online right away. I would not recommend at all as their customer service is awful.

My home warranty company recommended this company. They replaced our heater and when we tried to turn it on for the first time it didn't work. Blue star refused to come back out to look at it. Basic customer service could have easily solved this and made for a happy customer but they refused to help. Do not recommend

This company was selected by my home warranty company. They charged me $190 for for the fitting work that was not covered by my home warranty. When I asked how they came up with this number they told me they were charging a standard 2 hours of work. It took the technician less than 1 hour to replace the filter and do the fitting work but they still charged me $190 of labor on the top of what they charged to my home warranty company for the filter replacement and installation. I do not recommend this company.
