Great place! I make rugs as a hobby and went in and learned so much about the craft from true professionals. One associate showed me around explaining the different types of rugs and their individual processes with great enthusiasm. Will definitely go there to surge and bind my rugs!

So very impressed with Mark Gonsenhauser's Rugs! What a wonderful inventory to shop from. The problem was that I found so many gorgeous rugs I wanted them all. I learned there were many more added benefits during my first visit to this awesome store. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, especially Patrice Dupuis! Her expertise and personality made the shopping experience fun and exciting.

Something you wouldn't expect when purchasing a rug. Not to mention the nice gentlemen that appeared called "turners" that handled all the turning of the rugs so Patrice and I could stand back and discuss and admire them. One of my biggest surprises was learning I could select the ones that best fit my budget and color scheme and they would be brought to my home so I could see each one on my floor.

This made my choice very easy at that point. Patrice offered advice along the way so I would be confident in my final selection. I now have the perfect rug in my living room! Oh, I forgot to mention that they brought along a very nice quality padding, cut to fit the size rug I needed, placed the padding and rug exactly where I wanted it and returned all my furniture to it's proper place!

I realize this is way more detail than is normally in a review but I wanted to share how totally thrilled I am that I went to this business and had the opportunity to work with Patrice. As a matter of fact, I am leaving now to go back out to the store to pick out a runner. I have made sure Patrice is available!

Another successful rug purchase for us from Gonsenhauser's. We've been buying from them since coming to this area 12 years ago. They make it really easy to get the right rug. Their "take it home and try it" policy has worked in the past but, just this time, we had them deliver several rugs to try in our house. We worked with their in-house designer Ann Corletto to narrow the selection.

She was very helpful, especially with color choices. A few days later she came with two very well-mannered delivery guys to help make the final choices. Once we picked the best rugs, these amazingly strong guys placed the pad and rug under our furniture. Perfect service from everyone involved. Thanks for the help in selecting another great rug!

Ann CorlettoDesign Consultant, Mark Gonsenhauser Ann Corletto is not only a Design Consultant.she is a knowledgeable, professional problem solver! We needed her talents and she really came through for us. After getting a wild energetic puppy we realized that our hardwood floor home was not going to work.she was slipping and sliding while running at full top speed, jumping and leaping from sofa and chairs onto the hard surface causing possible hip injuries later in life.

We saw Emergency Vet visits in our future! We needed a large area rug and a long runner made to size for our spaces that would flow with our decor. Ann researched the optimal "puppy proof" carpet surface, and sent 3 rounds of manufacturer/pattern/color samples to our home to find to best match. From there she handles ordering to correct size, serging the edges and getting the correct puppy proof rug pads and having it delivered to us! Ann is a problem solver that we very much needed. I would recommend her to anyone without any hesitation.she is professional, knowledgeable, and exceedingly easy to work with!

This place I can't say enough! A large assortment of inventory with great rugs to choose from. Every one was friendly and professional. Great prices! A must to go to!

Very Professional Outfit. Cathleen greeted me upon my arrival and was very helpful and friendly. We selected 4-5 choices and I was able to make my final decision once my other New furniture arrived. Cathleen and the Receiving Associates brought in all the carpets and my decision was finalized in 5 minutes. As a courtesy the associates transferred my old 14'X 10' Floor Rug Upstairs. Great experience shopping at Mark Gonsenhauser's tent sale. From sales to delivery, staff was excellent. Never felt rushed when looking through the numerous rugs they had to offer. Delivery personnel were prompt and very courteous. Highly recommend this store when shopping for carpet.

Have had rugs cleaned.and stored here. Very professional team. We had a small issue with one of our rugs coming out of storage. They immediately rectified the situation for us. Couldn't have been happier with the results. We will likely be in the market.for more area rugs as our new house is all hardwood. This will be our first stop.

I asked the store to pick up a really huge carpet, my son gave me. The were there in 1 hour! They cut it down to fit my living room. Even fringe needed to rearranged. Remarkable job done! A special thanks to staff at MarkGonsenhauser's Rug Store, esp., the manager, Alex. The staff were so friendly, and efficient. The delivery men were on time, friendly, and helpful with anything asked. I will be back whenever my carpets need them!

I brought my hand weaved area rug to Mark Gonsenhauser's rug store recently fur cleaning and was very impressed by both their professional demeanor and thoroughness in cleaning my rug. When I first arrived at their store to drop off my rug, an employee promptly greeted me and discussed the pricing, cleaning features and approximate delivery time.

My rug was subsequently cleaned sooner than estimated and the quality of cleaning and care is evident. Even the tassels went from drab great to a bright and warm color. Thank you Alex!

This is a Virginia Beach go-to for rugs of any type, especially oriental. It is a huge showroom with seemingly endless inventory. My experience is with their much-touted rug cleaning services. Unfortunately I can't leave a favorable review. I have two issues. First cleaning is expensive and all of the services are add-on, one after another: clean, beat, pet urine! scotch-guard, etc.

Know that their bait coupon of 25% off applies only to basic cleaning. But my personal issue is that their purported pet-urine extraction is worthless. I have a barely soiled rug -- no odor, no stain, one "accident" -- and after their extra & costly treatment my puppy goes directly to"the spot." All I got in response was, "nothing can be done." Don"t waste your money. Go elsewhere.

After there was a dye run from a cleaning, they were willing to reclean a Persian rug I had planned on giving to a couple for a wedding gift. Got the dye out. It was the perfect gift. Everyone was very cordial and understanding throughout the process.

Superstore? That is an understatement. I love the friendliness of the people; the quality, price and uniqueness of their huge inventory; and their world class customer service. Each time you walk through the front doors, they make you feel like one of the "family". My experience with Christian has been superior. He works very hard to ensure you are satisfied.

Not only is his product knowledge beyond compare but he has a keen eye for style, color and design. I use them regularly for cleaning my organic fiber area rugs. They always do a great job! This time, I had to replace my flooring. So, I took the opportunity to have all of my organic fiber area rugs cleaned. Normally, they charge you storage, after 30 days. However they waive that fee, because they were empathetic to my situation at home. Alex Luongo and his staff are top-notch in my book!

We had 2 oriental carpets cleaned and prepared for storage 10 years ago. We just took them out and they are in perfect condition. Highly recommend their services.

Many thanks to Mr. John Murray and the fine team at Mark Gosenhauser for their support and patience in assisting me with a new living room rug. For as crazily indecisive that I am, John and his team took their time to go through the laborious effort of flipping rugs for a couple of hours, until I was able to find the exact rug that matches the design of my room.

Of all the rug stores in the Hampton Roads area, I found that Mark Gonsenhauser's Rug & Carpet Superstore has the best selection and best prices. Keep up the great work!

Well, I'm kinda torn on how to rate them stars wise, but the customer service was polite & prompt from Alex & Mafalda. They give you a free doormat when you check in here on Yelp, too. So I have a fancy doormat that looks like it was part of a nice machined rug in its younger days. The reason I'm not quite sure how to rate them is because I was given 2 rugs from my dad, 1 of which is a 1920's Anatolian prayer pile rug that is photographed in a book & referenced accordingly, I was offered $50 for it!

I was shocked & dismayed as I was only offered $150 for them both & at that point I decided I wasn't going to get my rugs appraised here. The staff was friendly & communicative throughout, but that type of lowball offer makes me not willing to do business here as I was told only Mark G does the appraising. If that's the case, it looks like he wants to profit more than make a legitimate offer for my rugs. Oh well, moving on with my day

We've been having ur rugs cleaned at Gonsenhauser's for years, and we finally had the excuse to buy a new rug. Christian helped us pick out the right colors to go with our new furniture, and stuck with us through 5 rugs before we found the perfect match. The one day Christian was off, Alex stepped right in and pulled rugs for us to check at home.

Both were very knowledgeable about the different types of rugs and how they were made. The shop has a very broad selection of types and color combinations, and we were able to find two rugs to match our color scheme and size. Service was excellent, and we we're happy with the price. We'll definitely be back!

Just bought 2 rugs from their tent sale. Very knowledgeable and an amazing experience working with them going through all the rugs. Alex knew a lot about rugs and was patient with us. I found multiple rugs I loved but the best match are the ones in the pictures for my room. I will be going back for more rugs to add to the rooms in my house.

Alex provided excellent service. We shopped around for people that could help us appraise and/or clean our rug. He was invaluable in providing advice and guidance and readily willing to show me the benefits and advantages of his store. Highly recommend.

They managed to ruin my $800.00 rug (bought here) by apparently cleaning it ( silk bamboo and wool) with the wrong chemicals. Although they tried to re clean it twice, the damage was already done. There was no apology, the same guy I talked with numerous times never remembered who I was, and to rub salt in the wound, they never even offered to return my cleaning fee of $100.00.

So thanks Mark.you are 900.00 richer and my rug went to the curb. For an independent business, they really don't care once they have your money.don't expect any customer service after your purchase!

After seeing the commercial for a tent sale I figured I would make it a priority to stop by. So happy I did. The tent sale was massive and thanks to the great weather it was busy but we were promptly greeted by a sales guy (forgot his name ) who explained the layout and we started digging through the massive piles of rugs. The sales guy was super helpful in pointing us in the right direction and showed us a few options after asking our taste/preference.

We were kind of leaving when we saw the man himself Mark! He greeted us and told us he was going to sell us a rug. And he did. We found a gorgeous rug for our game room for an unbeatable price. The inside of the building is breathtaking. Honestly. They prefer cash and checks and we got the best price by paying cash. The guys did all the heavy lifting by pulling and wrapping our rug. Really great experience and I am in love with the new edition to our game room!

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I cannot say enough nice things about my experience with Mark and his team. They were accommodating at every step of the process. We ended up purchasing 4 beautiful rugs that look wonderful in our new home. Mark's team of consultants and "rug turners" brought out 13 different samples to our home for us to consider. They were patient and gracious with their time, showing us each rug (moving tables, couches, beds, etc. each time so we could see the rugs with our furniture!) and allowing us the opportunity to determine if we liked how it sat in the room.

After quite a bit of back and forth we landed on the rugs that best suited our needs for each room. They happened to be running a sale so the prices were fantastic too! Thank you Mark and the rest of the team!

The staff of this store were both friendly and helpful, but the owner of the store was rude and accusing from the moment I walked in. I am in the middle of a renovation and came in looking for rugs not sure entirely what style or size I was looking for, and as I was taking photos for future reference, he approached me, and demanded to know what I was doing.

He left after I explained myself, then he returned and demanded that I stopped, telling me he "didn't think I was actually planning to buy a rug" and to "leave and come back when I was ready" Im not sure what he suspected me of, but that is certainly no way to treat a customer, even IF you have a store policy against photo taking. I certainly will not be returning to this store any time in the future, and recommend you shop where the management more transparent. Really makes you wonder whats going on there.

We were so impressed with the knowledge, patience and kindness of the staff. Their prices and quality were so much better than we ever expected. It is so refreshing to do business with a company that actually delivered more than they advertised.

Bought a new rug today and it was a great experience. I hate shopping for big ticket items like this, but our salesperson Bonnie made it a pleasant and easy experience. They had a great selection and several options to meet our needs.

I can not say enough about the excellent service I have received kind, courteous, and informative. Ann has a eye for style to accomplish the mood I want to set by helping me choose my rugs. The gentleman who will be cutting and installing my runners on the stairs which are unusual to say the least was great.

Large selection of fine rugs - some that are machine-made which are more reasonable and a large variety that are hand-made. LARGE differences in price between those two. A 9x12 machine-made you can get for between $999-1999 and for a nice hand-made in the same size you'd be talking $3500-15,000. I saw some beautiful things in here that were way out of my price range.

I was informed that they have sales about twice a year where everything is 50% off so that would be much more affordable. They will bring a few of these to your home and place them with your furniture at no charge to see if it fits and goes with everything so I thought that was nice. They also have a partnership with Ethan Allen down the road as well so if you are working with someone from there they can work directly with them for furniture, matching, price, delivery, etc.
