Windy City Rooter

We had an emergency plumbing issue with a gas leak from an outside Gas grill. We called Windy City Rooter and had Joseph Sjostrom came out to our home. Windy City plumbing was the quickest to not only respond, look at issue but also to follow up to set up an appointment. Joseph came the next morning since we could wait a bit and fixed and replaced the issue with a matter of time.

He was very professional the entire time. He was very knowledgeable about what he was doing and he took care of exactly what we needed to in a timely manner. We really appreciate their thoroughness taking the time to explain everything thoroughly and quality of service.

Well, I saw Windy City Rooter in the neighborhood and decided to give them a try. Max came out and I explained what was happening to the basement when we get heavy rain and the foul smell from the basement drains. He explained what was happening and the solution. Max gave me an approximate quote for the work without any pressure. We decided to get the work done. Karlee, was great too as she kept me updated on the work schedule for my project. Cort and crew showed up and took care of business. I now have a sewer cleanout outside. We are pleased with the work.

My fiance and I needed a sewer overhaul along with some other plumbing fixes we needed. All I have to say is Max and is his crew were amazing. What was supposed to be a 3 day job turned into a 2-day job and during their work days everyone was professional and answered any questions we had. Also before and after the Job, we had a lot of questions and knowing that Max is most likely busy, he always picked up the phone if we called and responded quickly via text message. Shout out to Carly for making the process smooth as well. We will be definitely recommend them to anyone who may need a good plumber!

I have nothing but great things to say about this company. Everyone that I either met or talked to were beyond friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They took the time to fully explain everything that was wrong(answering our million questions with so much patience lol), gave a great price and went above and beyond to help repair our sewer. Short Story: Great Service and very satisfied! Long Story: Thanksgiving week 2021 our sewer backed up while doing dishes. I had been calling around for plumbing work and Windy City Rooter came up while talking with our neighbor. They came our early the next morning so there would be time to see if the water would settle and then determine the fix.

I knew in advance that the sewer line had started to shear leaving the house due to the ground settling. When they arrived, they gave us a quote right away, we gave them the ok, and they pulled permits and went to work. The problem we ran into was that the sheared pipe had to be replaced and additionally the clay tile line was collapsed on the way to the street; hence the backup.

Now at this point I didn't have any reason not to trust them, however, I put myself in the trust but verify category so when they scoped out the line with their camera, I personally watched the monitor because I had never work with Windy City before and for all I knew they were putting on a show. They weren't, I trust them. In the end, we had to replace the sewer line going through the house and the sewer line all the way to the street.

They had 3-5 workers here for I want to say 4 days total. It was a larger project that they couldn't complete until the week after Thanksgiving because they had to get it all inspected before they could close the hole. It was pricey but it was several employees for several days with a lot of material hauled away, new material and rock brought in, and new larger PVC throughout, all during inflation and a shortage on material. Did it hurt, yes.

Do I blame them, no. I've been to Home Depot; I see the prices and I get it. I delayed writing the review for two reasons. First, there was a city reimbursement for part of the cost of the install near the street. Windy City notified me of the reimbursement and pointed me in the right direction. I got the reimbursement a month or so later. The second reason is the mound in the front yard.

At the end of the project, Windy City left a mound running along the entire project. I was told by Windy City that the mound would go down as the ground settled since they were digging down around 8 feet. In the last few days, the ground thawed and we got lots of rain so with a little raking and a bunch of grass seed, our yard be flat again and looking like normal. Overall, we're very pleased with the work performed and service provided.

Every employee we met was very kind and allowed us to randomly pick their brain over the course of several days. If we could change anything, we would change when we did the work and not who did the work. Working over a holiday with COVID and inflation was not ideal but we would still have Windy City Rooter do the work. That being said, I also hope to not see them anytime soon.

I can't say enough great things about the responsiveness and reliability of Windy City Rooter. We inherited a major problem in the sewer system for a multi-unit building that we purchased recently and WCR helped us set things right. Max (the owner) is amazing and always available to help. Their communication and customer service is truly top-notch. Highly recommended!

Had a sewage pipe that was seemingly backed up again after a different plumber supposedly "fixed it". Turns out the previous plumber did not fix the root issue. Max and his crew came out (on a Thanksgiving weekend no-less) and fixed the issue and even helped me navigate the insurance claim process. Can't thank them enough for taking care of this major issue quickly and efficiently.

I have hired Windy City to do many jobs. I own several rental properties. Windy City responds quickly when called. They are available for emergencies on evenings and weekends. They have done several jobs for me including sewer work, hydrojetting, clogged pipes, and most recently leaky pipes connected to our boiler system which provides heat to our building. They have never failed to correctly diagnose the problem and fix it. I can definitely recommend their services.

Highly recommend! Great customer service, very responsive, quality work. I had sewer backup that started around 8pm. Within a couple hours, the owner Max was at my place. It ended up being a very significant plumbing problem. A crew of about 10 guys came the next morning and completed the entire job in one day. Everyone was very polite and answered all of my questions. Max was very helpful in navigating the process and talking to the insurance company about the damage. This type of customer service is invaluable during a crisis!

WCR did an amazing job repairing and enhancing my drainage problem. They were on time every day and finished ahead of schedule; 4 days not 5. The work site was set up for a safe work environment and was cleaned up every night. The workers that showed up went above and beyond want was initially asked of them. Pricing was simple to understand and extremely fair for the quality of work that was done. WCR has made it to my short list of company's that I would allow to come back to work on my property.

We had to find a plumber quickly when we found a gas leak and our gas was turned off by Nicor. We chose Windy City based on all of the favorable reviews and their service area. We couldn't be more pleased with our choice. They responded immediately and fixed the gas problem quickly. We requested that they look at a sewage issue which led to finding a collapsed line to our septic tank.

They quickly sent a crew of 5 guys to dig up and replace the line. We developed an appreciation for there professionalism, quality of work, and fair pricing. We decided to have them replace old water and sewer lines to our 2nd floor bathroom, and then remodel the entire bathroom. This lead to painting several rooms throughout the house. We were assigned Larry as our project manager. He was on top of the work at all time and provided constant communication. Their work was first class and was preformed in a timely manner.

My family had a plumbing emergency and reached out to multiple plumbing companies in the North Shore area. Windy City Rooter was the first to show up but while he arrived, we had another (more affordable) plumber call and say that he was on the way. My wife decided to tell the plumber from Windy City Rooter that she didn't need his service since we had another plumber on the way.

That 2nd plumber tried to work on the clog in our main sewer but was unsuccessful. He recommended calling another company more capable of handling heavy duty repairs. My wife decided to call Windy City Rooter back and within an hour and a half, they showed up for the 2nd time, this time with Max the owner. I feel that most plumbing companies would not have returned after being turned away initially.

We were appreciative that Max and his company came back. Within an hour, Max and his son assessed the cause of our problems. We needed a complete sewer line replacement due to terrible root issues and a collapsed pipe He walked me through multiple options and the various costs for each. We made the decision to go ahead with WCR after getting approval from our insurance company. Max and his company were quick to organize and plan out the repair.

Early the next morning, one of Max's sons, Cort, showed up bright and early with a crew of men and heavy machinery to start working. The guys were all prompt, professional, and friendly. Within a few days, their crew was able to finish a complete sewer replacement which would have taken over a week for most other companies. Throughout the process, Max was on the phone keeping me updated and even constantly communicating with the claims adjuster.

My family has the utmost respect for Max and his company because of their responsiveness, quality of work, speed, and overall affordability. We highly recommend them to anyone who has plumbing needs.

Really more of 2.5 but I rounded up. The Good: Quick to reply, the owner cares about the business and making customers happy. The scheduling/online team are great. Free, no obligation quotes. The Bad: Like any company with employees (vs solo plumber) it can be hit and miss with the quality of the plumber you get and unfortunately I got a miss. I had a drip on my bathtub faucet and I figured while they were there I'd have them flush my water heater. Cost: Their prices are NOT CHEAP.

Expect to pay around $250/hr for even basic tasks and don't expect even the smallest job to run you under $300. My faucet drip and water heater flush cost almost $600. Keep in mind my water heater is electric and has a drain right next to it. Probably the easiest water heater to drain. Maybe the prices are high to compensate for the people that do not hire them after a quote.

They do quote you up front and businesses are free to charge as they please.not docking them for this. Just sharing to give an idea of cost. The mediocre: Did not seem very prepared or professional. Don't expect "white glove" service with shoe covers, sweeping after or any of those bells and whistles. I'm not docking them stars for this, but I have paid less and gotten better service before.

Side note: Also I noticed many of the 5 star reviews are for times when Max (the owner) was at the job site. Most (if not all) the 1 star reviews are at times when he wasn't. My outcome: As soon as they left the drip they "fixed" started again. Long story short I hired someone else to do it right as I was in a hurry. Owner called, apologized and offered a small discount (under 20%) that didn't even cover what I paid the other guy to fix it right.

The verdict: If you need someone in a pinch, go for it. They will show up and they have good availability. However, I would definitely shop around and get a few quotes before going with them on any major jobs. For minor jobs don't expect the best bang for your buck. Would I hire again: Maybe.but I would definitely be very particular about getting everything in writing and getting multiple quotes before starting the work.

Someone else would have probably given a 1 star review and disputed with the credit card company, but I did appreciate their responsiveness.but sometimes getting the job done right is more important than proactive follow up.

These guys are the best. I just bought a house in Antioch. Needed a plumber looked online called a few companies. But charges me to come out and look at the issue I didn't like that. This company didn't charge me. I talked to the office lady forgot her name but I told her what was going on. She said she could have someone be sent out when I get home from work around 5.

I said that will work they showed up. It was in my crawlspace the plumber didn't complain about that. I really liked that. Showed him the issue It was the main value broken. Told me he can fix it now. Told me the price u said yes please. After he was done he wanted me to see the work he did. Let me tell you very happy with it. Happy I found my loyal plumber company. Will use again in the future. Thanks for not charging for just coming out appreciate that. Happy holidays be safe.

Called this am for sump pump replacement. Robert was here at scheduled time and replaced the pump within my budget and was courteous and thorough. Would recommend.

From start to finish, Max, his sons, and the entire crew were fantastic to work with. I felt Max's assessment of my issue was accurate. He took the time to explain the issues and rationale behind the repair work. The project went smoothly, and the entire crew was professional and courteous. As a side note, Windy City was a referral based on a similar positive experience.

My family and I had an emergency with our main sewer line for several weeks, at first we didn't know what the issue was because we had another plumbing company come out (weeks before we reached out to Windy City Rooter) without any resolution or proper knowledge of how to correctly come up with a solution to the major issues we were having of basement backups, basement and other areas of the house smelling fowl, etc.

When we did contact Windy City Rooter, they came out immediately to assess the situation. They were able to find the problem and walk us through exactly the cause of the issues we were experiencing, explain in full detail of how they found the issues and how they can resolve it. From the moment we met Max he treated us like family and was very understanding of our financial situation.

He wanted us to understand the extent of the issues we were experiencing and made us feel comfortable with trusting him and his staff to resolve the issue with our main sewer line. Within 2 days of hard work and true professionalism! Max, Cort and the whole crew were able to properly fix the main sewer line issues (inside and outside of our home).

They get your job done and arrive on time but they quote a price out of the blue & they are way overpriced, you can't even tell how did they come up with the price, its a roughly quote out of the guy mind who came that day. I paid off the price because I just wanted to get it done otherwise I would definitely have it done with another company.

Amazing company to work with! Our main sewer line broke to our home it. It was horrible! Windy City Rooter came out and installed a whole new main sewer line. People should be grateful that hard working companies like Windy City Rooter still are around. Everything with people now is about price. Well when I call a company I do look at price ( which by the way was amazing ) but I look at the actual quality and work ethic of the company. Windy City rooter is professional and respectful and responsive. They actually know what they are doing!

I have learned if you go with the cheapest company you get a garbage job. So if you are only looking at price then expect garbage work. People need to realize the over head it takes to run a business and pay their employees will enough to keep them happy and working for you. Windy City Rooter just put in an overhead sewer system AND replaced our main sewer line. The guys were great and efficient. They went out of their way to make sure we understood exactly what they were doing and cared about how we were feeling and about inconveniencing us in any way. Windy City Rooter came out just a few hours after we had a flash flood. They unclogged a main drain within minutes. They also came back a few days later to upgrade our sump pump and install a back-up system, in which they were honest about our options and didn't try to up-sell us the most expensive option, but truly encouraged us to upgrade what was necessary so the flooding didn't happen again.

Basically they got us the best bang for our buck without breaking the bank. They were professional, approachable, reliable, and efficient. I would recommend them to everyone I know.

I had an inquiry about my krystal klear water filtration unit and I talked to Joseph from Windy City Rooter and he was completely honest with me. The other company I talked to over priced me by $1000.00. Joseph gave me the price that krystal klear said I should pay. Most companies try to rip you off but Windy City Rooter is very honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend them.

My first review said it all. But now I'm hiring another plumber to redo the work not three years old yet because it was done with such poor quality. Just don't bother with this guy.

Purchased a water heater in 7/20 for $1100.00 from these guys with an "advertised" one year labor and 6 year parts warranty. On 2/21 the water heater gas valve went bad and this company refused to fix it and left the assembly out all over my basement floor. I asked the owner when it will be fixed and after being verbally abused by him for a few minutes he said he had no clue when I would have hot water again.

After being without hot water for 5 days I called the mfr. and I was finally told this company bought this water heater for $400 ish at Mendards and that they are not authorized to perform work under my warranty (which Windy City Rooter failed to disclose), thank goodness Windy City didn't invalidate my warranty by breaking the pilot (which was found by the other two servicers who said WCR didn't know what they were doing).

I received the gas valve by the authorized servicer and the water heater was up and running in only 25 min!!!! The owner's response to my BBB complaint was so inaccurate and filled with lies I just laughed and let it close. I refuse to interact with children posing as adults. Please stay away, you'll thank me later!

Cort, Gavin and Todd did an amazing job today installing a clean out on my front lawn. They also inspected the line and rodded it to clear the roots and blockage. Cort’s a professional on the excavator! Appreciate their hard work and they went above and beyond. They also cleaned up the job site when they were done. Thank you! Highly recommended!!

They showed up on time, wearing masks and coverings over their shoes. They found and fixed my clog, but needed to cut into the ceiling since the waste pipe was frozen. They were unbelievably neat and not only swept up, but also wiped the floor down. Their prices were in line with anyone else, in fact, slightly less money.

This was a long time ago, so I don't feel the need to elaborate much more. I do want to clarify however, since I was accused is sneaking out, which wasn't the case and attempts to discredit my review. As I mentioned, they made me late for my appointment because they arrived significantly late! I told them as they were inspecting, and before they were packed up that I would need to rush out as soon as possible, and at the time they seemed to understand this and agreed. Many, and at that time, most service providers I was working with either settled up by mail or phone.

Given that I had spoken to them in advance, I think it's very unfair to characterize my leaving quickly as sneaking out! If this is what the office manager who called me thought, that might explain why she was so rude and nasty to me. This experience would have been significantly less painful without her contribution. I also want to add that I took her call the moment I arrived back from my appointment.

I didn't avoid her, and I paid in full even though I was no better off than when I had started. Much worse, in fact, for having a very unsettling experience. I feel it's necessary to add these details because the owner is so vigorously trying to discredit me.

These people are amazing! I'm leaving for my first get away. I had a leak from upstair to downstairs thinking cracked pipe . I looked up plumbers andcalled them and the were here in 90 minutes { I think the lady on the phone heard my panic). Had an emergency with our sewer line on a Saturday night(late). Called 2 places that night and left messages. Called Windy City Rooter Sunday morning and they came out that day before either of the other places even returned my call. Great service and very understanding with the current times we are dealing with today. Thanks again.

What started out as a small job of changing out 2 faucets and fixing a clog turned out to be a bigger job. Thankfully Shanon was great. He was honest about what needed to be done and the day of service he showed up promptly with another employee and they got the work done in 2 hours (an hour less than every other place quoted). The work was clean and the guys were very thorough.

Leaving a great review after James came out this morning. He was able to figure out we had a cracked closet collar. He happened to have the part we needed on him and fixed it quick. I was very happy he wore boot covers and a mask (unlike a past company we had our for a separate issue).

Our sump pump and backup needed replacement. Being new to the area, we looked through yelp for well rated plumbing places that offered the service and found Windy City Rooter. My husband placed the call and was told that someone was on a call in our area and would respond as soon as he completed that service. Within and hour we had an appointment set for 11:30.

By 12:30 they had assessed, and replaced our sump pump and battery with a new one that needs no maintenance. The gentlemen that came to do the work were just that, gentlemen. They were respectful, informative and worked efficiently. If we ever need plumbing work in the future, we will definitely call them and you should too.

Windy City Rooter is a great company with great people. We have used Windy City for small projects like sink clogs and large projects like hydro jetting and sewer line repair and they have exceeded expectations every time. These types of jobs are not always pleasant that is why you need a good company you can rely on. Their slogan is, "We drain your pipes, not your wallet." They do the superior work and at an affordable price.

They arrive on time and when they say they will. I come from a family of contractors, and you can just tell when you are dealing with pros or not. Windy City does it by the book without cutting corners. They do it the right way the first time. From the techs and plumbers to the back office, they are top notch. Cort has run a couple jobs for us and not only is he quick to respond, knowledgeable, skilled, and polite, he is honest and will tell you the truth about your situation.

A truly honest contractor that is not afraid to be straightforward with you and relay the information you need up front is invaluable. I will continue to use Windy City for our plumbing needs.

Max, Joe and the team are wonderful and very professional! He performed a very large job at my house around 2008. It was over Christmas until New Years. He and his son did an amazing job! I contacted him 12 years later and he helped me out again. This man and business is the best in Chicago land, and I would NEVER call another!

After 3 sewer back ups in 6 months we finally broke down and called Roto Rooter first and they were somewhat rude and not prepared. We asked about a camera scope and tech had to call someone to bring one out. That same day I contacted Windy City Rooter, Paula was so helpful and pleasant. She had a man that was in area who could come over and he came within an hour. Looked things over gave me some options and numbers and I’ll tell you I have NEVER been so happy with a company. Cost was very reasonable
and work completed including clean up in 6 hours. Thank you so much for the great job!!!

I had Windy City come out to give me an estimate to have a water line replaced on my refrigerator, they quoted me $479.00. I was able to go on to HomeAdvisor and found a company that did it for only $162.00. Do your homework and get more than one quote.

Exceptionally good service. Windy City Rooters responded quickly to my call and came out immediately. All three workers--Joe, Brian, and Brandon--were courteous and efficient. They diagnosed the problem (blocked up sewer pipes), explained the solution to me, and then resolved the issue. The cost was very reasonable. And the dispatcher Dan was knowledgeable and witty. We had an excellent experience with Windy City Rooter. Max (the owner) and his son came to my house to diagnose the problem and give a free estimate. Unlike with other "big name" companies, I felt comfortable with their diagnosis. Windy City Rooter sends actual licensed plumbers to your house and not uneducated salesmen guessing what the problem is and trying to sell you expensive sump pumps or experimental fixes.

Although the diagnosis was not good (we had a blocked overhead sewer with a leak in our basement), Max was huge help in making the ordeal as painless as possible. He explained the entire process of replacing our sewer, including city construction codes, digging, replacing pipe, sealing walls, and clean up. Windy City Rooter does all their own work, they don't contract out anyone else (one of Max's sons is in charge of the excavating).

Therefore they know everything that is going to get done, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. They dug up the sewer, replaced it, sealed our walls, and cleaned up all in one day as I was at work. Max was phone call or text away, keeping me updated on the entire process. In addition he also helped by talking directly to our insurance adjuster to ensure we could get some money for the damages. Windy City Rooter is a highly experienced family run business and it is obvious that their goal is to make the customer happy. I will use them for all my future plumbing needs.

I had my first interaction with Windy City Rooter this week for a malfunctioning kitchen garbage disposal. I didn't have the time to service it myself and it needed to be done within 24 hours. Max (owner) came out to the location within hours. Max is friendly, prompt, honest and thorough. He was able to get it working without any overhaul or major time spent.

Max and his team were great! We had a sewage back up in our basement. They were out within 4 hours of receiving the call to give us the news that there were several issues with our sewer pipe system. Max showed me the issues with the camera, walked me through all the issues and gave us a more than fair quote for the extensive work to replace illegally installed systems.
