Bonnie was awesome from initial contact. She was responsive and the guys were professional. There was a small hiccup with not getting the concrete on day of original start but that was all situated and next day work began. They did my whole fence in days! I was amazed! And thank fence looks amazing! Def recommend. Service: Wood fence

Gary's Fence, Inc. is a great company to do business with! They are a professional, family owned company that takes pride in their work. They gave me the best estimate for all my projects for which I have used them. They put in a wooden privacy fence at my business and an aluminum fence at my home. I couldn't be happier with the quality and value of their work! Highly recommend!

Anytime a consumer makes a large purchase, Google should be the first place to look for positive reviews regarding the company of interest. I should have taken this advice. Gary's Fence of Chesapeake is not a company you should do business with. Bonnie in the business office is rude and based on the tone of her voice, she does not seem to genuinely care about satisfying the customer.
When I first scheduled with Gary's- to have my gate rebuilt- I was told that they could not perform the work for numerous months. At that point, we were dealing with Covid-19 and the uncertainty of the pandemic so I thought this was understandable. Gary's was finally able to perform the work November 2020. Fast forward to June 2021 and the gate I paid for with my hard earned money is leaning, does not close properly, and is a noticeable eye sore.
On numerous occasions I called Gary's to express my concern regarding a gate that is less than a year old being defective. Bonnie stated that someone would be sent to my home to evaluate their poor craftsmanship, however, I never received a follow up call to describe the issue or propose a solution to repair their defective work. Instead, another local business (Olson's Fence Company) will be repairing my gate and I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this company's lack of quality, nor their concern for the customer's satisfaction. Please DO NOT use Gary's fence if you are expecting quality craftsmanship, instead call Olson's Fence Company, as they provide excellent craftsmanship and customer service.

I had several estimates for fencing. Gary's had a very competitive price. But, what sold me was their attitude about the satisfaction of the design and the layout of powder coated black aluminum fencing. My installation was flawless. We now have beautiful fencing that looks great, adds value and keeps the hound at home! I could not recommend a better fence Comoany than Gary's Fencing.

Very rude older man. After given my qoute, I let him know i was qouted about $200 cheaper yesterday and he said " Did you read anywhere in my truck where it states that I am a non profit organization?" RUDE. i was not asking for free labor, just stating a fact and ofcoarse I am going to shop around for different qoutes. Definitely not using this business.

After contacting seven other fence places for an estimate Gary's fence was the only one who came out and gave me an estimate. His efficiency accuracy and punctuality for the estimate made me go with him. Him and his team we're professional courteous and efficient. The fence is just what my wife asked for. Now just have to wait till we can stain it.

I called last week after a wind blew my fence over. A older man came to give me a estimate. He gave me a estimate of 1200.00 dollars and then tells me I'd be better off hiring a handyman because the boss man wouldn't make any money from this job. Apparently they only do big money making jobs. I'm confused I thought companies want to make money regardless of how small it is.

This company told me that they used a higher quality of materials & advised me not to go with other companies for that reason. However, they contract all their work out to a third party whose workmanship is terrible. My vinyl fence had only been up for a week & it was either leaning in certain sections or completely came apart. I called Gary's Fence & explained the situation and I was told they would come back out to fix it.
Well two weeks later I still have post that I can literally pull out the ground if I wanted too. I have gotten fined from my HOA because they have the fence too high. Now I have to come out of pocket even more money to get these issues fixed from another company. If you are considering using this company I would definitely think twice about it. In the long run it will not be worth it.

We contacted Bonnie and she got back to us with an estimate within 24 hours. The estimate was spot on and the work was completed to our satisfaction within one week, start to finish. We highly recommend using Gary's Fence. Their installers were polite, professional, and knowledgeable. Gary's Fence is the company to contact if you need a quality job done quickly, efficiently, and budget friendly!

I called to arrange for an estimate. I had an issue that would prevent me from sitting down and speaking to the person coming out today. I called to tell the scheduler (the owners wife) who is not a very friendly or professional person, my situation. She proceeded to say it was a waste of time for the guy to come out since he couldn't meet me face to face.
I told her I had other companies come to give me a quote without an issue. Her response was " Ah ah nope.we're not doing that". I guess they don't mind losing possible business opportunities.

We moved into our new home in Chesapeake this past June. The first storm that we encountered, knocked down our fence. This started our search for a new fence. We had several estimates and Gary's Fence seemed very reasonable. When I called them to schedule an estimate they were very prompt and Pete gave me a written quote. We hired them for the job of a new fence installation.
I got a down home feel from everyone in the company. They are very friendly and our fence looks good. I did have some issues with the installation and I had to follow up a few times to take care of my concerns. After the work was complete, I noticed some of the old post stumps were not removed or cut level to the ground. I called Bonnie, who is very easy to talk to and she assured me that they will take care of it.
After a few phone calls and emails, they took care of me. Then I noticed the top of new posts were not cut level. Once again, they took care of it; after a few phone calls and emails. I also noticed a couple of pickets that were already starting to buckle and I called them again. They took care of me. I am finally satisfied with my new fence. I feel confident that if I have anymore concerns Bonnie and Gary's Fence will take care of me.

To start with the positives. Bonnie in the office is very friendly, helpful and professional. They were on time for appointments, and sure the fence does what it's meant to by keeping my dogs from running away. At least it does now after I had them come back to pull the chain link down since because of excessive gaps from the bottom of the fence to the ground that one of my dogs just crawled right under.
There quality of work is horrible and after they came to fix my one issue and I was going to have them adjust the gates quick and put some more fence ties on but they took off in a hurry before I could inspect anything to approve it. Upon inspecting the rework they came back to fix I found they broke a top fence post cap while hammering the fence down in a high spot.
Both my double gates are not level horizontal or even plumb vertically. If your fine paying full price for a simple fence that serves its purpose but doesn't look the greatest and you have to adjust every gate they hang then give them a call

Fence looks nice just wished these guys knew how to finish a job. When we were first getting bids the old guy told my wife he had a few negative reviews and explained that you just couldn't make everyone happy. Well we liked the old guy and hired him even though his price wasn't the lowest. Bonnie in the office was great to work with but she's on an island alone.
The finished the job but didn't fill the post holes back up. They also left vinyl shavings and pieces all over the lawn of my brand new home. To top it off when my sprinkler ran, we discovered they busted a water line. I called the office and got the old guy, I assume Gary. Straight away he tells me that he's not responsible under the contract, blah, blah, blah.
I asked if that was really how he wanted to play this and he said he'd look into when he had time. Told him I'd sent him some pictures to save him a trip. He said ok and he'd get back to me. Guess what? Crickets. That's right he ghosted me. Never heard a word back. Now I'm sure he'll say he forgot and I should have followed up.
Well if you're getting that must customer heat that you forget, following up surely ain't gonna help. Hopefully he see's this and follows his pattern of mitigating and customer blaming, cause I got photos. Save yourself time, $ and headache and use someone else! BTW my fence was completed and paid for on 6/13. This review was written on 7/26, so he was going to take care of it is a bad joke unless you have 6 weeks to wait around for them to get to you. I have also posted the photos of white vinyl pcs on my lawns and some examples of the fine finishing craftsmanship. Judge for yourself. Like Share

Gary's Fence installed a cedar fence for us in September 2015. Our experience with them was wonderful. Bonnie is a joy to speak with and the work crew that came out was punctual and installed the fence very quickly. The reason I am leaving a review in Feb of 2018 is my interaction with the company in Jan of 2018. My husband woke up the morning after a snow storm to find the whole right side of our fence on the ground.
The posts were secure and intact. He called the company to let them know what had happened. Someone from the company came out on a Sunday and said they had never seen anything like it in all their experience. He also stated their workmanship warranty was for one year, but because of what had happened they would be out the following week to fix the fence.
I did not hear anything and followed up. I was told the owner did not agree with the assessment that was made, and it would be a $200 labor charge to fix the fence. We declined and fixed the fence ourselves. The reason for this review is for anyone considering purchasing a fence in the future. The fence we installed was a cedar fence and was not inexpensive.
Imagine our disappointment when a whole side of the fence collapsed and it is not even three years old. Yes it was windy and there was a snow storm. However, non of my neighbors had any issues with their fences. Do your homework and shop around. Clearly the owner needs a refresher course on Customer Service 101 to get on the same page as their employees who represent the company very well. We will not be using or recommending this company in the future.

7/31/17 - Contacted Bonnie @ Gary's Fence to get a quote and repair the front porch railing and steps. She was able to get me a quote within 48 hours and the work was started 2 days later. It was a 1 day job. Excellent work, professional staff and extremely courteous. This was the 2nd time I used their services and would highly recommend them to anyone I talk to. 1st Use of Gary's Fence November 2016: Used the services of Gary's Fence to replace an existing fence on my property. Pricing was competitive and the workmanship was excellent.
The job was done within the specified deadlines and the old fence was removed. The posts were cemented in the ground and the shadow box fence was installed. Excellent professional installers and I would highly recommend them for any future needs. Jack S - Chesapeake, VA

Had to trust someone. A lot of fence places pick and choose their projects during the summer. I had to get this fence installed and they were willing to do it. My neighbor complained about the mess left in his yard while another neighbor complained that they dumped excess dirt in the drainage grate causing flooding in the recent storm. I had to have Miss Utility to come out again and mark because they bumped a gas line (could you imagine would would happen if they had ruptured it?) My fence calls for 100 pounds of concrete per hole.
I noticed that the gate post had moved. Not sure water saturation would cause 100 pounds of concrete to move. When I asked them to look at it, their response was, "That is not due to "workmanship". It is an act of God/mother nature. If you want anything else done to it, it will cost a minimum of $250 for them to come out and add concrete. The fact that the gate is presently installed lower than what it was originally installed at, does not help the situation." Also I asked for it to be contour to the ground and they made it level causing me to have to go back in fill in with dirt behind them.
Now the rain just washes the dirt away and I have to continue to fill. So I would not recommend this company for your project. Wait if you can for a more qualified contractor who will stand behind their work.

Would ---NOT--- recommend! If you appreciate quality and professionalism, this is not the contractor for you. On the first day, I immediately noticed that the crew lead wreaked of weed. I don't care if you smoke, but probably not before you go to work on someone else's property, right? Bad first impression, but by the end of the project, everything looked great.
It was a quick two day process, and I was very impressed and happy with our purchase. After the project was done, my family and I went on a two week vacation, and when we came back, I noticed that many of the pickets in our new privacy fence were warped and slanted. I figured it was just a symptom of the weather this summer, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that MANY of the pickets had nails missing.
Some of them only had ONE nail holding them up and could freely pivot. On others, the nails had been completely pushed through the pickets, (the crew used an air hammer, which was apparently WAY too powerful for its required task). So between the missing nails and the nails that had been blown through the wood, I just came in from nailing a MINIMUM of 100 nails into my new fence that I paid just over $3,000 for. So.
Long story short. Impressively quick project completion, but horrible quality. If you feel like going in behind your professional crew and finishing the job for them, this is the company for you. If not, keep shopping.

Pete, Bonnie and Mike were so professional. The work was done when promised without any glitches even though the weather wasn't always co-operative. Good job and Thanks to everyone! I recommended them to my neighbors and they signed a contract too. Would definitely recommend Gary's to anyone needing a fence.

My experience with Gary's Fence, Inc. has been extremely positive. From the begining Pete was prompt to come out and provide us with an estimate. There pricing was very fair amongst the quotes we were provided. Once we decided we were going with this company we were in contact with Bonnie (my sunshine)! She is always so pleasant and easy to talke to.
I find that they are very much out to help you get your fence completed in a proper manner doing what needs to be done to help the customer out and get the job done. They get an A+ in my book!

I set up an appointment to which I admittedly and unintentionally missed. Later I received this completely unsolicited email from their First Impression Specialist Bonnie. If the email trail below is any indication of how the business operates, choose your contractors carefully. I'm not sure to what great lengths Bonnie went to in making the appointment, but I sent one email to set it up.
I did call and apologize to Pete (the estimator) for wasting his time and for the error on my part. Bonnie on the other hand is a fantastic example of extremely poor customer service.
