Kemnitz Air Conditioning & Heating

Failed to fix my AC problem after many visits. Need better technicians certainly. But they are responsive.

It is always sad (and upsetting) to deal with a company that had been excellent, but has lost its moral compass. We used Kemnitz for many years to deal with problems with our heating and air conditioning systems. We were always pleased. Hence, when we had a new problem, I immediately called them. The technician came out and said there was a problem with the control board.

He indicated that since the system was old, these parts were no longer available. Rather we would have to change the system. I indicated to the repairman that we did not want to spend more money than necessary on this repair. That afternoon, I received from the company two estimates for that work, neither was for the top-of-the-line system. The "cheap" one was $11,250.67; the more expensive was $14,214.78. However, I was told the work could be done quickly because Kemnitz had the equipment in stock.

Before doing such a major repair, I decided to call for another estimate. I turned to Yelp for a suggestion and called "First Choice Heating and Air Conditioning." Their repairman also indicated that the control board would have to be replaced, but indicated that these were in stock. The next day he returned with the new part and installed it for a total charge of less than $500.

The heating system is working perfectly. Kemnitz used to be an honorable company. Perhaps the challenges of Covid have generated serious financial problems which have pushed them to the edge. Perhaps the old management of the company was simply more honest. Whatever the explanation, DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE CROOKS.

I rarely use my air conditioner and thoughtbit was time to get the system serviced. From calling to schedule the appointment to having Larry the technician service the unit and answering the questions I had, he ended up installing better registers throughout the house as well as an amazing new thermostat. When he installed the new registers he paid very close attention to details in cleaning everything as if it were his own house. Above and beyond the best service. Great people who exhibit pride in customer service and workmanship. Would only use them in the future.

For years our ac froze you in the office and no ac in the master bedroom. Other company quoted $1500 plus to fix it. Larry from Kenmitz called 30 minutes before arriving and arrived on time. Very professional young man! He diagnosed the problem, installed several dampers and balanced the entire airflow throughout the house. The ac no longer sounds like a hurricane in the attic and I can sleep in a cool master bedroom. Well done Larry and Kenmitz. Cost was much lower than competitors quote.

Here it is 3 years later and I again have received excellent service and efficiency from kemnitz. The technician Robert was courteous knowledgeable and efficient. He diagnosed the problem, ordered parts, returned, and completed the service. system works great. I highly recommend buying your system through Kemnitz. They continue their good service even after you have purchased your product from them. Thank you.

This was from a year ago. We've used Kemnitz for years, but last year had someone out for a unit that was failing. I was quoted an outrageous price for two new units (another reaching its end of life) as he told me, after the first of the year the price would double. We chose not to do the work at the time, something seemed "off". The second unit died.

We called someone else out last week and both units are working like champs. Blower motor and capacitor needed. It was all under $500. Kemnitz had quoted over $30k for new units as they were shot (per tech). They never trouble shot anything, just said the units were dead. I don't trust them anymore.

Brandon came out for a service call to our home in Irvine to service our heating system that had been out. He was able to diagnose the problem within minutes. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. Brandon was able to explain the problem thoroughly with all his knowledge/expertise. Thank you to The Kemnitz Team for providing stellar service.

I'm warm! My furnace stopped working before the holidays and it was cold inside and out. I like to tinker with things so I Googled and Youtube'd. I tried this and that, ordered this part and that tool and still could not get it work. I called Kemnitz, who has been taking care of my AC and furnace since around 2005, and they dispatched Jason who fixed the problem.

I wasted a lot of time and a decent amount of money before I called the guys who knew what they were doing. I don't have much experience with other firms because I always call Kemnitz but they check all the boxes so I'll keep calling them.

Brandon was awesome, very professional and he solve our problem first in summer with de AC and now with the heater. Don't hesitate, call and ask for Brandon to go to your house.

I called them to check and repair my home air conditioning unit. They politely told me the service call was $99.95 and I said ok. The technician came out and checked the Freon level and told me it was low and I need a whole new system for $7200 Mimimum because after Jan 2020 R22 Freon can't be manufactured or imported into the country anymore.

I asked him if he could just recharge it now and he said no because they don't do that anymore. So my complaint is this: Why couldn't they have asked me how old the unit was over the phone? Then they could have told me the rest of the story. I think it's a total ripoff to charge me $99.95 to come to my house and give me the sales pitch to replace my air conditioning unit AND I might as well replace the heater too because it's 19 years old but works perfectly because we hardly ever use it.

Note THIS, R22 isn't illegal after 2020, it just can't be manufactured or imported into the country after that. Of course the price will increase but it will still be available for a long time after. So I will not be calling them when I want to replace my unit. In the meantime I had someone else come and recharge it with R22. It will probably last for 3-4 years like it always has in the past. When I decide to replace the unit someday I will have "someone else" do it.

If I could give ZERO I would. I asked for a breakdown for the work and they refused and it was over $7,000. That is not a small amount. Spoke to the owner who was completely rude and refused to say how much things cost and said "that is our practice". I am actually stunned at this response. I am curious if any of these high ratings had just taken the "project fee" at face value or asked for a breakdown.now if I was only paying $500 it would be a different conversation but if they want $7,600 it only seems fair.but appartely not.

He said "I am not going to share my profit margins with you". I NEVER asked for his "profit margins". I said it is is like taking your car to a mechanic and he tells you the "cost for the parts and labor" but this guy says he just lists the "project fee". No doubt he is living happily ever after I am sure making a ton of money out of his "projects".

My heater was not working and I called Kemnitz & made an appt and Larry arrived on time, was courteous & polite and put booties on each time he came into my home. He was here for a little over an hour and evaluated & changed the part that was broken and replaced the filter (which hadn't been changed for years) and I will recommend him & the company to everyone I know. Thanks again Larry!

We have been a customer of Kemnitz A/C and Heating for 30 years. They have serviced our HVAC system every 6 months for preventative maintenance during that time. When we needed a new system, there was no question that we would contract with Kemnitz for the work. Alan Kemnitz and his staff are very professional, courteous and friendly. I highly recommend Kemnitz for all of your HVAC needs. They are truly the best.

Larry came, figured out our problem in 2 minutes. They were prompt, courteous, professional and honest. I cannot stress enough, they are the people to use. They are trustworthy and the whole staff is caring. Kylie made my appointment and was attentive, helpful and polite.

Disappointed. Technician came out. Said our ac wasn't installed by them so he wasn't going to touch it. I told him original company had gone out of business. He said he didn't take on other peoples problems. The unit is a year old. Probably a Freon leak he said. He could have fixed it and charged a small fee. Instead he walked out. The weather has been in the 100's. It was 111 two days ago. So thanks Kemnitz. For nothing.

We are so grateful that we called Kemnitz when our heater stopped working right before Christmas! They were super responsive, coming the first time on a Saturday and quickly diagnosing the problem. When Joey Vasco worked in our home he was incredibly polite and respectful! It was such a pleasure to have him and we will always call Kemnitz in the future. Highly recommend!

I have used this company for years and they are great. I called earlier in the week and got the appointment I was looking for at the end of the week. I had a technician named Joey come to this house this time for maintenance issue for upstairs AC. I was having a condensation drip coming from underneath roof line that wouldn't stop. He called beforehand to say he was on his way and running early.

I like that! He was very professional putting slip-on booties on over his work boots. Joey diagnosed the issue right away and did the necessary maintenance on upstairs AC. I also had him do maintenance on my downstairs AC. Kemnitz had installed the downstairs AC 2 years ago and did a phenomenal job. Joey recommended putting safety valves on the units in attic to prevent a leak from happening.

I went ahead with his recommendation. Joey was knowledgeable and very efficient. Very nice guy! Our AC is working perfectly in this hot weather. I am so happy it was just maintenance and not replacement. Thank you for all your hard work!

Last year we moved into a new place in Irvine and the heat didn't work in the middle of a cold January. I was referred to Kemnitz and they took care of it the next day. The service was prompt, friendly and high quality. The heater was fixed right away and the fee was reasonable. Last week the A/C stopped cooling and I called Kemnitz and requested Joshua again.

He just left and replaced the broken capacitor on the main unit outside in less than 15 minutes. A/C is working fine again. Joshua is caring, professional and gets the job done! This is an honest and fair company that does quality work with a good attitude.

Made a phone call to Kemnitz to schedule an appointment for service which was quickly answered, but they were booked for the Memorial Day weekend and next available service was one week out from the day I called. There was no rush and I decided to go with the company because they had serviced my unit before. Jason was my service technician and he was extremely polite and professional.

He called me within the time frame of my appointment to let me know he was on his way. When he arrived, he was able to immediately identify a couple issues with my unit (air filter, fuse not in place causing low voltage to the fan) and gave me some recommendations on my unit. He was also patient with me on all my questions and concerns and within 15 minutes of him arriving, my AC was running and the only extra part I need to purchase is an air filter.

Shout out to Jason for not only being efficient about diagnosing the issue with my AC unit but he even had shoe cozies to cover his shoes while he walked inside my house! Of all the HVAC people I have dealt with, he has easily been the most courteous and helpful.

These guys USED to be great:-( In the past, Kemnitz has provided outstanding service for our 5 and 2-ton units. Yesterday, a Kemnitz technician diagnosed our 2-ton Carrier unit as having a failed compressor as well as a failed fan motor run capacitor, and off he went. I subsequently received a quote in excess of $8000 to replace the entire system.

I then bought a replacement fan motor run cap from a local motor shop ($6.00), installed it, and the system is running just fine! What bullshit! Needless to say, Kemnitz will no longer be our go-to guys!

We just had a complete changeover of Air Conditioner and Heater in out home by Kemnitz. Both Rob and Rob were superior in their efforts to make this happen in one day and with NO Suprises. They worked tirelessly in our stifling attic on a very hot day to get the job done. We went to bed that night very cool and very happy with their fine job. Thank you guys!

Had the furnace and fan replaced, also got high flow vents. The service was very quick and knowledgeable, they had everything moving very quick so we can have a warm house the next night (I had to sign a waiver to speed things up, it's the law, they helped us with that). The installation next day was pretty quick and clean. They covered the floors, but you still have to vacuum afterwards, of course, they took down a 26yr old furnace covered in dust and (I'm assuming) spiders from the attic, that's normal.

But the whole process was cleaner and faster than expected and I appreciated that. Of course there is always a funny guy who talks too much or seems annoyed by you, but the others were professional and courteous, doing a great job!

I was extremely happy with the installers and the knowledge. They went above and beyond in removing some shrubs to install the untis. Very professional!

Joshua arrived on time and was very attentive. We had a funny problem with the overflow of the condensate water in our overly complicated plumbing system. He patiently researched it and in the end also recommended installing a check valve to prevent it happening again and harming the motor. I have used several firms like this and they are the best I've had. They were recommended to me by our very good home handyman firm Newport Handyman, Josiah Williams. Good guys know the others

Overall, very satisfied with the look/quality of the Carrier products installed. Kemnitz's installers were very professional, and I would definitely recommend Kemnitz to others.

The guys from Kemnitz were on time and did the work carefully. Jeff was first on the scene, followed by Rob and Mario. Alan the owner and estimator for the work was also present. Overall an excellent job!

Because I had a bad experience with another company I was especially wary. Kemnitz was everything the other company was not. As you can see from my ratings, they did everything to perfection. I have no complaints whatsoever.

I called to have my heater checked as it went out intermittently. A young man came and turned the thermostat on and off several time and declared it is working now and charged me $85 service call. He stated I needed a new heater. I called someone else a few days later and they came out and replaced the "board" for parts and labor at $275. Needless to say, I will never deal with Kemnitz again after the 20 years of giving them the benefit of a doubt. I now wonder how much I have been taken in the past.

We referred several clients and friends over the past year and are extremely pleased at how well they were treated! Keep up the good work guys!

I really had a bad experience with Kemniz Air. I wish they would have been upfront and honest in their claim to time with me. I was told that I was going to have a 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. appointment, so I took the afternoon off to make sure I could see the technician.
