Storm Damage
Report
Mother Nature appears to be on a rampage, and 2011 went into the history books as the worst year ever for natural disasters in America. Whether it is floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, lightening, freezing weather, or wildfires, destructive natural events are increasing as a source of damage to our homes, our businesses, our properties and our lives.
Fire
Report
Fire is one of the most destructive natural processes known to man. When it ravages a home or a business, its destructive capability goes way beyond the damage that you can see; water, smoke products (soot and ash), and firefighting operations all combine to make these emergencies a true restoration challenge.

I cannot say enough good things about Bonifacio and his crew. They installed a kitchen faucet and under sink water filter for me, and wired in a UV light into my AC unit. Not only was their work excellent quality, they were also a pleasure to communicate with, were extremely punctual, and left the work area very clean after finished. We also had a pipe leak a few days after that- I contacted Bonifacio and he came to check it out and fix it that day. I'd recommend them for anything! Very professional and trustworthy.

We had a pipe burst in our house during the February 2021 winter storm. This flooded my upstairs bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room. This destroyed my kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, ceiling and hardwood floors. Austin Hi- Tech was sent to my house by USAA. 8 days later Austin Hi- Tech showed up and told us that they didn't want to be there.
The techs told us that they wanted to be working on bigger jobs. They put 6 fans in my house for a week and did nothing else. They did not remove the wet wood flooring. They did not remove the wet drywall and wet insulation. They did not provide us with a dehumidifier. They did not even send an estimate of the damage to our insurance company who hired them. It's been over 10 weeks and my house is still wet. NEVER LET THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE.

This team of labor was brought in to help in a post-100-year-freeze outside of Austin in a senior apartment complex that suffered electricity and water loss, then a flood of water when the pipes burst on the patios. While the numbers of help were large, the help was only by direction of the manager, not by request of the tenant. As a member of senior population needed help hooking back up washers after sheetrock was torn out, getting water, moving furniture responsibily and having respect for the older population, this is just not what was happening.
Management for these places are too few to help wth the huge needs of this type of disaster. Today on top of all the other frustrations (dehumidifiers blowing 24 hours a day 20 feet from your head) a managing employee whined about his 80 hour week and that he didn't want to be bothered by us residents. Sadly our complex didn't get to pick who they hired but when you need lots of help, not sure this is the company. ALot more standing around than actual work sadly, processes where not smooth and too 'unionized', every neighbor I spoke to said possessions where broken and stolen during the apartment corrections. Terrible.

Had a great experience with Austin Hi-Tech Restoration. Discovered water damage to my ceiling after a rain storm. Received recommendation from my insurance company and immediately a representative called to assess the damage and was given a quote. Soon after folks showed up to fixed the problem. That was not the great experience; the great experience was the individuals that did job had to move all of my furniture and wall art so they could paint almost entire house to match the fixed area. Workers took extra care with all of my stuff that nothing was broken. Supervisors were always swinging by to do inspections on work being done. Thumbs up for Austin Hi-Tech; waiting on my next project quote from them, sun room.

The only thing they did was get here on time. Brick sloppy, used floor board an inner wall border before laying brick, then I had to pay for an electrician to fix our patio electric after they left as it went out on us. Now the two outside sockets are just one which is frustrating. They did not use an electrician, so there you go.

Update: I was refunded a portion of my money so I have increased the star rating for that portion of the company's integrity. The fiasco still put us months out of our home, which was not necessary. Glad for them trying to make right on their mistakes though. I recommend looking elsewhere for restoration needs. Make sure to read the yelp reviews, as well.
I have been working with Richard and Jeff since March and we have no progress on our home so far after major damage. Our experience has been the typical nightmare experience you hear about with contractors. 1. They took a large amount of money and stopped working. They pushed for large amounts of money up front. When I gave them money, they completed a very small amount of work, the workmanship is terrible- stating they need more and more money.
I don't want to give more money to people that have not corrected their mistakes. Now, of course, they will not refund the money. We have a line by line contract so it is easy to calculate the amount of refund needed. 2. They seem to have an issue working with women. They will listen to my husband. When I reach out to communicate, unless it is regarding payment, it is weeks before I hear back.
My calls were never returned, yet somehow my husband can reach them the same day. Also, the specifics on the project that I requested were completely ignored. Jeff told my husband that he just assumed I "was confused" so did not do any of the things him and I discussed at a 2 hour meeting. I am not confused AND most women don't have 2 hours to waste. 3.
And finally, the workmanship. If you don't mind giving your money away or working with men that don't care about a woman's voice or opinions, then at least consider working with someone who will master the actual restoration of your home. We have sewage still all over our kitchen cabinets that has been sitting there since MARCH because they are so scared to remove the cabinet and break the counter on top.
Let's get to work people- if it breaks, we will deal with it. The walls are painted a shiny brown/yellow when I specifically requested a specific pure white. They have scratched up our expensive couch with doors and I find levels and tools on the leather couch frequently (or I did for the week they were actually there working). There is really so much more I could say, but I hope you seriously consider other options. Richard is convincing up front. Be wary.

Aaron and Logan did a great job moving our furniture. They were very polite and helpful. Now that my job is complete I'd like to add that Kevin was a great project manager. He was extremely communicative about the work being done and when to expect people in our house. When something went wrong, he would step in to help immediately and get it taken care of.

I had a fantastic experience with Austin HI Tech after my entire downstairs flooded. They were thorough and prompt and communicated really clearly throughout the process of replacing my floors. Every sub contractor who worked on my house was polite and dedicated and did a fantastic job. My neighbors even commented about how nice everyone was! The project manager was on top of his game from start to finish and made things as painless as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to work with these great folks again.

Aaron and Biane were here today to assess the damage from a water leak. They were courteous and professional and even mopped my floor to leave it as clean as possible until the plumbing repairs can be completed. I appreciate how quickly and efficiently they worked to remove the damaged ceiling. I highly recommend Austin Hi-Tech Restoration again.

We had Austin Hi-Tech give us an estimate for some roof and rafter damage for our insurance. They were prompt and professional and their price was very reasonable. We went with them to do the work and we're very pleased with the result. The project manager assigned was very good with communication and setting expectations and the work crew was courteous and very efficient. They knocked out the work in a timely manner and left the job site clean and tidy. I would highly recommend them to others for work.

After what initially appeared to be a small leak in my kitchen, Austin Hi-Tech realized it was more extensive and got the approval from my insurance company. Any issues I had were immediately addressed by my project manager Kevin Young and corrected. All of their employees were very respectful of my home and belongings. My entire downstairs looks brand new, including my 10 year old cabinets. Their primary contractor Luis did such a wonderful jo. That I hired him to do some additional work on the side

Incompetent PM. Had a master bedroom, master bath, and guest room that took over 3 months to repair. This was NOT a gut job, it was fixing (redoing rooms exactly the same) after a flood we had. I had to text the Pm multiple times to verify he ordered floors, cabinets, etc. each time he has not and made excuses. Also didn't write down any materials we had (such as flooring).
He called me back to ask me what type of floors we had. Would never recommend them. PM did not manage the construction guy that would say he was coming and didn't show for days. PM had no clue what was going on Because he only came by when i had to complain multiple times. Had him working on multiple projects apparently. Took over 3 months for drywall, painting, installing cabinets, and floors.
I am calling our insurance to make sure they know to not contract with them again. Oh and my husband did our built ins for our closet (we asked for money back that insurance already paid them for), and the rest of the work they needed to touch up because we'd probably be waiting for another month. Awful.

I was beyond impressed with Austin Hi-Tech Restoration. We had a huge job that needed to be done on a very tight timeframe and the folks at Austin Hi-Tech made it happen. Everyone we worked with - from Cindy in the office, to Glen the estimator, to Kevin the project manager, and all the guys that actually did the work on the house - was fantastic. The project was completed way faster than I thought possible, and we absolutely LOVE our new floors and bathrooms. I can't thank them enough.

A car drove thru our fence in the front yard and crashed into the house. Replacement cost $8572.46. Our deductible based on this cost. One of the charges.$59.08 to detach and put back a light fixture to paint a wall. They put tape around it. Detach and reset ceiling fan to paint $210.45. They put tape around it.replace a wall.no. they replaced a section $318.87.
They couldn't match the brick. After much arguing they agreed to check in a city 1 1/2 hour away. Did finally make a close match. They wanted money ahead of time but took 3 months to spend 6 days fixing our problem. At Christmas they wanted money but said their staff from Mexico wouldn't be back for a few weeks.still they wanted to paid early.
I would never use this company again. Some things on their estimate (they got their insurance money up front) we had to argue they said needed replacing even though later they went going to do it. If my husband hadn't been there to do the work I feel we would have been even more cheated. They get one star.for the brick job.

Just make sure you get an estimate from these yahoos BEFORE they lift a finger. We had a hot water heater leak into our daughters room and called our insurance company, who guided us directed this company. Keep in mind that our deductible was $2300 and didn't cover replacing the heater. So after talking to the yahoos, I was told I had to put up $500 to cover costs. when i asked how for an estimate (several times) they said they could not supply one.
I figured it would be less than $500. I guess I'm the idiot. So the guy come sin and does his job. no complaints there. But I get the bill and it contains rental charges on 4 4 and 2 dehumidifiers for 3 days of $690. I could have gotten all that equipment at Lowes for $700. So what can i do but write a yelp review and pay them the addition $500 they charged me. If you gonna do business with these sharks GET AN ESTIMATE

The Austin Hi-tech team is more than a team, it's a family and the dedication I've seen to their clients is unlike any other. Perhaps it's because they are locally owned and operated for over 25 years or maybe it's that the leadership holds themselves to the highest standards possible. Either way, there is a deep understanding and sense of duty to every client they have. They truly operate by the words "Restoring lives after a loss"

I can't say enough wonderful things about Joe, Jefferson, and their crew. We had some severe water damage to our laminate flooring and they were amazing to work with when having it repaired. Joe was incredibly helpful when we were choosing new wood flooring. He was responsive, kind, and honest. Jefferson and his repair team were courteous and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend these folks.

We had a serious house fire last January.our house didn't burn to the ground but we had smoke damage everywhere, inside the walls and throughout all the insulation etc. Austin Hi-Tech came in immediately and began the process of recovering items and mitigating damage. Since we were in a mild state of shock during the early stages I don't remember much besides the hi-tech people swooping in and taking care of things in a friendly and efficient manner.
This type of work is personal and feels a bit intrusive since complete strangers were going through all of our belongings. The hi-tech people showed concern and professionalism throughout. It truly felt like they were taking care of not just my house but my family as well. They cataloged every item and were able to locate things whenever we had minor emergencies (school materials, sports uniforms, etc.).
They helped us re-locate to temporary housing and then move back into our home after 9 months. It was a drawn out process and they remained just a phone call away during each phase. This type of professional and compassionate approach to helping people in a crisis goes beyond best business practices and feels more like being cared for by a team of good people with strong values. I highly recommend them.

We worked with Austin Hi-Tech after our house sustained a water damage. It was a complicated situation as the house was under contract to be sold when the damage occurred so we had to deal with the buyer, realtors and lenders as well as the insurance company. They were professional, responsive and very, very patient. They truly went above and beyond to help us keep everything on track and every person I spoke to seemed truly committed to delivering excellent customer service. Thank you, Robert and Austin Hi-Tech!

If you have never gone through a tornado, it is one of the scariest events you could ever imagine. While our house did sustain substantial damage, our spirits did not. I knew that once I called Cindy early last Monday (1:30 am), we would be in good hands. Their team was at our house quickly and worked into Monday night to help stabilize / secure our house.
Everyone that has been to our house has been wonderful. And the professionalism is second to none. And for that we are truly grateful. I trust that each of your clients receive the same professionalism and concern. In a few weeks our house will be back to "normal" (if that is possible with 2 teenager and a 4 year old), but our lives have been forever changed by each of you.

From start through the finish this company has done what they said they would do. Whenever I called, which was often, no one ever said "That's not my department." It was always, "Let me see how I can help." From the clean up after the fire, to the restoration to the follow-up. A+ service and every employee owned my project. THANK YOU!

After my home was damaged by a fire, I selected Austin Hi-Tech to perform the repairs. The repairs were fine, no complaints there. But the road to completion was bumpy, to say the least. Delays happened more times than I can count. I repeatedly would check in on progress only to find that issues that I had thought were addressed days ago had still not happened.
And generally (not all the time, but nearly), these delays were not communicated to me promptly. I suppose delays are typical in construction/restoration, and I don't think they were anyone's fault necessarily, but the company could stand to do way better in terms of communication. Additionally, I found one of their senior estimators to be very difficult to work with---he was exceptionally nice and cordial when he was trying to secure our business; but as soon as the company had gotten our money, he didn't have the time of day for us.in fact, when I needed some documentation of repairs that had been done, he was downright obstructive and passive-aggressive. Long story short, my house was repaired, and that is what I hired them for; but if I had it to do over, I'm not certain I would work with this company again.

Austin Hi-Tech went WAY above and beyond to make my situation as easy and painless as possible. I cannot recommend them enough! Having to get restoration work done after water damage is never a pleasant experience. But Austin Hi-Tech eased my stress and made it so much simpler. My insurance company erroneously removed Austin Hi-Tech as the contractor from my job without telling me, hiring anyone else, or making any movement toward getting my kitchen redone. James at Austin Hi-Tech was told not to contact me so my torn-up kitchen was sitting without work while my timeline was being pushed back without my knowledge.
When James was alerted that I had NOT asked for them to be cancelled and was planning on them beginning their work, he not only helped me handle insurance but also got his guys into my house 5 days early! Andy was my project manager and worked overtime to fit me in since I'd been taken off his schedule. He texted me pictures of what he was finding at Home Depot and set everything aside to get my job done.
He helped me pick out the new tile and design for the kitchen and it looks INCREDIBLE! In the end, Andy and his guys FINISHED the work on the day they were originally supposed to BEGIN the work. They redeemed the situation that insurance had messed up, and it was not their responsibility to do so. Their kindness, efficiency, knowledge, and professionalism speak for themselves, and I am so thankful they helped me get my kitchen redone!

I called these guys for an estimate to complete a water restoration in my home after it got flooded. They showed up took measurements and said they would have it to me right away. The guy kept asking for my insurance agents contact information (I did not want them handling my claim for me) and I declined.

Irresponsible and unprofessional. Turned a 3-4 day project into 3 months, which significantly worsened our quality of life and disrupted our work. Often did not show up when they were supposed to and left things a mess. Eventually all the work was completed and was done well. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I don't normally write reviews, but with all our recent experiences with contractors following storm damage, Andrew Bailey of Austin Hi-Tech Restorations and his team of contractors were so good it felt wrong not to. They took care of everything, roof and broken window replacement and concrete restraining/sealing and it was all completed on time, on budget and he kept us constantly updated on what was happening, when and why. He made the whole process seem effortless. So I highly recommend Austin Hi-Tech Restoration and especially Andrew Bailey our superintendent.

Where has Austin Hi-Tech been all my life? Their work was spectacular and prompt, but what I was most impressed with was their friendly and extremely caring service. Robert and his team were very professional, and I appreciated their immaculate work habits (they carried their own booties so no moping or cleaning was needed afterwards). Also, whenever I called the office, Stephanie was always available ready to answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend Austin Hi-Tech to anyone who's looking for quality work and exceptional service.

A couple weeks back when the rain was unrelenting, we noticed a water stain on one of our bathroom walls. We soon realized though that our problem was even bigger than we had first thought. Water had seeped into the walls of three different rooms! In a panic we contacted Austin Hi-Tech and before we knew it they had sent out their emergency services team to prevent further damage. Robert and his team were very respectful of us and our home.
They put my wife's mind at ease and assured her that they would do their best to find the source of our problem. Thanks to their diligence we discovered that the water wasn't coming in from outside but rather a leaking water heater even after a plumber had declared there was no issue with the tank. They got our walls and carpet dried quickly so that we could focus on getting repairs done. We would definitely call on Austin Hi-Tech again!

I came back to update our review with five stars, not just four. Hi Tech is an outstanding company. We worked mainly with Shane Grigout and Jeff Mathis. Two of their subcontractors -- the carpenters and the painters -- were so good that I will write separate reviews for them as well. There were tiny imperfections by the subs. The great thing was that Shane oversaw the corrections to the problems and took care of them in a manner that was better than I would have asked for.
Imagine -- a construction company with courteous, prompt sub contractors who communicate with you by phone and show up when they say they will! And then do a perfect job. Our home's dishwasher leaked recently. Our insurance company, Allstate, assigned Austin Hi-Tech Restoration to the job. We have been thrilled with their service and their professionalism.
Everything they do looks great and they have been perfectionists. They even got us back into our home by Christmas. I will come back and write more after the job is done, but so far they are five stars. I am leaving four stars for now and will update after they do the next room. Since it is the same team who did such an excellent job on the rest of the house, I anticipate that things will go well again. (update: stars upgraded to five, job done)
