On a 90+ day, my AC system stopped cooling. I called Williams Stoker and Andrew came that day to diagnose the problem. That eve I had an official estimate to resolve the problem. I accepted the terms and at 8:30 the next business day, as promised, Andrew, Kevin, and Mike arrived and worked efficiently and with good spirits (despite the 98 degree temps) to install the new coil and condenser. They did not leave until they were sure things were working properly. They are a great team. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Our condominium association has used Williams Stoker for over 40 years. Their service is always spot-on. I had a chance encounter with two of the younger members of the service team, Jordan and Isaac. They are wonderful examples of the high standards W.S. sets for its on-site technicians. They are polite, clean and exuded confidence they would be able to fix the problems one of our owners was having.
The call took much longer than anticipated; yet, they maintained their good natures. I happened to encounter them as they were finishing their documentation, and was asked the last time our boiler was serviced. When I replied we do it annually, Jordan commented that although it looked a little dirty, it was in fine shape. BTW, when the old boiler was beyond repair, Dittmar engineered a plan that enabled us to purchase the unit we not have.

About three months ago in December our water heater stopped functioning for our apartment. We hired a different Agency called ABC plumbing. They said there was problems with the copper wiring among other things. It cost more than $1000 to fix. Three months later our water heater broke down again. ABC said it was under warranty but when they came out they said there was a problem with a valve and they wanted to charge us $800 to fix it or 2000 to replace the water heater.
Instead we I called William Stoker. They said there was just dust clogging our unit. they fixed it quickly and charged us just $180 for the visit. That's the second time they've helped us and they've done a great job both times for a good price. I find them to be professional and honest!

I had such a great experience with this company and will be a lifelong customer. My steam boiler stopped working on a Wed night in January (it was really cold out). The place that had maintained it came out, said the tank was cracked and that it would be $14k to install a new one, which they couldn't do until Monday/Tuesday (4 days later). When I called Williams Stoker on Thursday morning Andrew told me he would see what he could do.
He found a unit for me (they called after hours because they knew the distributor) and had it installed by late Friday evening. They were thousands less and had it working in 36 hours. Amazing! The installers Louis and Davis stayed until 8 pm to get it finished that night. Everyone that I worked with through the process was really honest and knowledgable.
They did follow-up work later to get a final radiator working at no charge. This company was recommended to me by friends and I'm honestly so grateful that I found them. When your house is cold suddenly, you really are vulnerable to being taken advantage of. I have so much respect for all the folks at this company for treating me fairly and with a lot of kindness in my hour of need.

I purchased four boiler systems for two separate buildings. WOW! They came out right away and did a professional job. PROBLEM! If you need a repair, good luck having them come out. Called and they came out in a couple of weeks, after calling several times. They said they had to come out again to try to repair. Boiler is leaking and banging throughout the building. They now say they can't come out for three weeks. I guess it's "Take the money and run".

Our boiler broke un repairable. Denmar and Kevin and their whole team made my parents who have been clients of theirs for over 30 years made them feel appreciated by working around the clock in getting us a new boiler, installing, not to mention removing the old one all within a matter of a few days. Our tenants were obviously very grateful as it was getting extremely cold outside. Denmar the owner personally came out to meet with the insurance adjuster as the old boiler was still under warranty. We are very happy with the results and it's outcome. Happy to be long time clients of there's.

Can't be trusted. When I called and told them of my problem, they said they could help me but were busy, and would call in 2 days to set up an appointment. They didn't. I called them. Then was given a day for service. I took the day out of work. They were a no show. They called to give me names of other companies to call. They should have said they were too busy, instead of keeping me on the hook for over 2 weeks with a non working boiler. If you call them, you're rolling the dice.

Don't call these guys. They'll treat you poorly and waste your time. Heat stopped working, and was told to call because they know the most about steam boilers. I called on a Tuesday. They said they could fit me in sometime Thursday or Friday. Thursday late morning I call them. They've canceled my appointment but didn't inform me. They're too busy to deal with me. This is a bad shop.

I contacted Williams Stoker about getting my boiler serviced. Andrew Pestrak, who is also their service manager, was the guy sent to my address. All I can say is, WOW! Andrew was exceeding courteous, extremely knowledgeable and and exhibited the highest customer service. In addition to the work he did, he took the time to explain some things to me and even labeled certain valves, in case of emergency. I'm a small business owner. Great service is what sets companies apart. Stoker does just that. They've got a customer for life, because of it. Way to go, Andrew!

Don't call this company. They'll waste your time. And they'll treat you poorly. Service appointment for either Thur or Friday because my boiler stopped working. Two day window meant I needed to be in a cold house for two days waiting for them. I called late Thursday morning. They told me they decided they aren't going to make it, they're canceling because they're too busy. But didn't tell me.

Have a noisy radiator. 1st appointment the guy shows up, shims the radiator and says this might or might not work. It did not. second appointment, the guy checks the pipes in the basement, adds shims to the radiator and replaces vent. Still not fixed. Third appointment, they tell me it will be between noon and 4. They don't show up. I call, they make excuses and says someone will call me back. No call. I call again and again no call back. Not sure what has happened there-they fixed several issues on the first try previously.

I have used William Stoker & Heating Co. for years and have never had a bad experience. They have always been prompt, professional, honest, and wonderful to work with. I have had them repair, replace, and maintain boiler systems. Recently I had their representative Andrew and Jaime replace my boiler control system. They were prompt, explained the process clearly, and performed the work professionally. I would recommend this company and its team to anyone needed heating work performed.

Absolutely terrible and disorganized. They charge $112 for the first 30 minutes and $28 per 15 minutes after that - these are top dollar prices and they don't have the service to match the cost. I booked an appointment days in advance and no one called to confirm my timeframe, and when I called I was told someone would arrive between 1-4PM but no one ever showed. They also flaked on an appointment my building had booked in the fall to service our boiler. They're a joke, spend your dollars elsewhere.

They missed their first appointment with me. I had to call to find out they weren't coming. Next appointment the technician told me somebody else would have to come out to provide us with a quote. They never called back to schedule an appointment. Woman who answered the phones was not polite or helpful at all.

My water heater went out mid winter. Williams Stoker & Heating returned my call within the hour and sent out a technician to help that day. I was so impressed with their customer service and their response time. They responded quickly, worked quickly, and the price was reasonable. My water heater is fixed and I am a happy customer.

Our Association has used Stoker three or four times in the past to service a boiler for a driveway snowmelt system. This year, the boiler was not working again. I called the Wednesday before New Years and they promised to be there the following Monday. I called on Monday at noon to confirm and they said they were overbooked and could not come. Oh well, I thought. Mistakes happen.
But it got worse. We rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon. When arrived, the technician was not prepared for the job. He said they would need to come back. I asked if I should call to schedule but he said not necessary. It's now two weeks later and I've never heard back from them. The HVAC firm we hired came out the next day, looked at the unit and said it looked like it had never been serviced before (despite Stoker coming out as recently as last year). It was filthy with several leaky valves. The firm we hired took pictures, called a few hours later with an estimate and were very professional and thorough.

Out home warranty company sent Williams Stoker & Heating to look at our A/C problem. The team they sent was really good. The majority of my interaction was with Kevin. I really needed to replace my hot water boiler system and after being referred to by my neighbor I gave Williams Stoker & Heating a call. They were very friendly and professional since the first call, they came by my home the same day and checked it out to see if there was anything they can do to fix it. Luckily, they were very honest and just had to fix the pump, I did not need to replace my whole unit which was music to my ears. They fixed it in no time and it is working perfectly fine! Best company in town for any repairs on your boilers!

We manage a 7 unit building with a boiler and steam radiators. We've tried other companies in the past and have had mixed results. Stoker is the only one we call these days. Their service mechanics are top notch. They show up on time, they know what they're doing, they explain your options, and they get it done, all at a reasonable price. No need to look further, they're the best for your buck.

I used Williams Stoker & Heating when my furnace wasn't working. Called during a cold night and they came out the next day. They were in contact with me through the complete process and explained in detail what my problem was. He give me an exact price and was able to fix the furnace and the price was exactly what he told me. I was very happy with the service and professionalism.
I would recommend them with full confidence. We have used many others in the past that often changed the price of the work. Williams Stoker has stood by his word and offers a great service.

I had called several other heating companies to repair my propane boiler and none of them were able to look at my unit until weeks after y initial call. William Stoker & Heating co. was able to come the next morning. The technicians, we're very professional and explained in detail the operation sequence of the boiler and why it wasn't working properly. No parts were required and they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I would highly recommend their services.

I had not heat in my building since early in the morning. Having not been happy with business practices of the boiler company I used previously, I called Williams Stoker for the first time after having been given a recommendation from friends in the neighborhood. I scheduled a routine boiler repair 10 days prior to the date of service. I was informed that I would receive a call the morning of the scheduled visit to let me know when the technician would arrive. When there was no word by mid-morning, I called only to be informed that I would be notified shortly after noon. Nothing. I placed a second call around 4:15 and was told the technician would be reaching out shortly.
A call ultimately came in around 5:50 pm to advise of a 6:00 pm arrival - - the time I was set to leave for a scout meeting. So, I wasted a day off work for these jerks. I didn't think I'd ever meet a company that could make Comcast look good.

Had Randall come out and make the upgrades he had suggested when going over the system for the season. Total bill came in way under the original estimate. I had waited for a couple of months for the cold weather to kick in to see how things would work, and based on the work and instructions I was given to drain the system, etc., the house is considerably warmer and the gas bill seems to be trending down. All and all, excellent service.

You should take the negative reviews here with a grain of salt, or a ton. The company installed my steam boiler in 1997, and their subsequent service has been consistent and problem free. Their rates are set, and when I ask what they are I get a concise answer. When the technician writes up the invoice after a given job, it has always been accurate, and I've never seen an unexplained or unwarranted charge.
One user, John Y., complains that their phone number is in the 'burbs and wonders if it's the same company. Of course it is. Drive over to 1800 W Belmont and you can see for yourself. Kim S. has a chip on her shoulder, and her complaint is about the social interaction she had with the service person, which was unrelated to the call. Note that she did get a service call for her radiant floors, but doesn't say what the outcome was, then accuses the company of holding a grudge about an argument that the dispatcher could not possibly have known about. It's an old school company for sure- so they won't bleat endlessly about how they "value" you as a customer, and they won't apologize with pretend obsequiousness like corporations who truly don't give a sh!t about you, and they won't use your fist name every ten seconds because they did not go to the corporate retreat where they would have learned that people love to hear their first name over and over. But if you need your steam heat serviced they will do that.

Poor Customer Service and Overpriced. I agree with the previous negative comments about customer service. As the customer service person did not hang up the phone after our call was completed, I heard them say nasty things about me. Instead of gossiping about customers, I suggest customer service get training on basic customer service skills and approaching calls and service with a positive attitude.

I will also let the property management firm (that referred me to William Stoker) know about customer service and recommend they not use William Stoker again. We have always used Williams Stoker because their name and number was on the furnace when we moved in. They are what we call Old School, and I mean it in the best possible way. The guy who just left was so knowledgeable and helpful. We recommend Williams Stoker and have used them for nearly 20 years.

This company isn't what it used to be, sadly to say. This was once the premier heating company on the Northside of Chicago. Williams Stoker and Heating built up a dedicated customer base because of their professional expertise, know how and trust. They were efficient and treated people dearly. Today, with a phone number area code in far south suburban Chicago, I wonder if this is the same original company that built a solid reputation over the years? Waiting 8 to 12 weeks for someone to come out to maintain your boiler for the season is not the type of expeditious service that customers received in the past from Williams Stoker and Heating Company. Sorry but I have to look in another direction.

My parents have been using the services of William Stoker for over 30 years on their real estate properties. They have done services on their past 5 unit building located in east rogers park and I can remember them repairing furnaces/boilers. On Dec 2013, they have replaced an old furnace in a 10 unit building located in the suburb of skokie. The cost of the new furnace amounted $12,500.00.
It was a one day job. They removed and scraped the old furnace. The old furnace had been a big lunk of metal looking almost like parts from an army tank. Installing the new energy efficient furnace, they showed the operation of the machinery. Besides replacing the furnace, they would even show up on emergency cold days if one of the apartments did not have heat.
They would bleed the pipes and the heat starts to come into the apartment unit. Winter of 2013-2014 had been a very cold winter and William Stoker efficiently made emergency calls with the utmost professionalism On Nov 2013, William Stoker replaced a pump that regulates/triggers the heat into a 16 unit building. The cost had an amount of $2,450.00.
A mechanical pump had a malfunction causing delay of heat into the apartment units. Heat would come on and off with a strange rattling of the pump. William Stoker diagnosed the problem and made necessary replacement. In conclusion, this company does very well with commercial properties. The customer staff had been professional, friendly, and hospitable. I didn't have problems with communication working with this company.
