Gettle Pools

I never write reviews but this one needed to be noted so it can help others when making a decision. Gettle Pools was a referral so we really didn't look much into it, but unfortunately it wasn't a good referral. We built a pool with Gettle for the past year and I am so glad it's finally over! The communication was TERRIBLE! Honestly the worst!

They never let us know anything and when we asked, we were the assholes. The quality of work from the subcontractors was good, thank goodness! Scott is the owner and head guy and it's just a jerk- cocky, arrogant and rude. The professionalism was not there at all and we expected it after spending $50k on a pool with them. Super disappointed in the service and would not recommend them. Hope this helps make your decision easier.

These people are a joke. No quality work. They are absolutely terrible at what they do. Thanks for nothing. If you are trying to buy a swimming pool from this company you should look elsewhere. Very shady! Also don't try there pool service because they never show.

Owner has no customer service skills and berates you if you complain. Does not check on his workers and ignores problems.

Left a telephone message with the Company about 3 Hours ago, Then about ten minutes ago i get a call from a person identifying himself as Scott Gettle. I went on to say that I wanted to have a spa added to my pool. Before I could even finish speaking to him. He said a spa is real expensive and I wont build any spa for under $20,,000.00. Could not even explain to him That I also wanted a new pool deck and resurfacing.

I was so applauld on how he handled the call I Hung up on him! On the advertisement in the mail their company indicated they give free estimates. Wow guess they do feel sorry for anyone who hired this company. Sounds like they have been in business picking and choosing vulnerable people they can make as much money as they can. Be carefull with this company and don't waist your time making the phone call.

Completely disappointed with their response time. I recently built a home and my contractor has not explained anything about the pool system how it works or what is left to finish. All he said was "it's not my responsibility to explain it" My pool is green and starting to mold. Not only that I signed off for a pool alarm and I got a baby barrier installed!

Not what I signed and certainly not what I paid for. My contractor said it was the pool companies fault and refuses to remedy the situation. My husband has contacted the company for two days and all he has been told is that they will call him back or they need to talk with the contractor first. We are the owners and need to know if they've been paid and need them to explain to us how to use the pool system and why we did not get the pool alarm?!

They didn't it even finish the tile work in our jacuzzi. The lady he spoke with was rude and very unprofessional. It's unbelievable that as the owner of the home they refuse to talk to you.

Horrible place to spend your money. I have a crack in the pool, a year now, and they won't return my calls. I've called, texted left messages, talked to his wife, everything. Sine my pool is discolored I called the product claims t come out and he advised he know of Gettle pools well and always hears once he's done, he's done. Guess it's time to get lawyers involved. No use Gettle pools.

RUN. AWAY. Gettle Pools is a NIGHTMARE - they dont deserve any stars. This is the worst company to do a pool project - nice until they get the contract and deposit, then the real fun starts. Dont believe the "35 years in business" statement - this was his father's business and reputation, not the son's. If you hire Gettle Pools you will deal with constant lies, ridiculous delays (dont believe them when they say 6 weeks from dig to swimming, more like 6 months ++), inattention to customer communications (stating they dont have to return calls when asked), greedy money grabs in the middle of the project (3 attempts within 90 days to extract additional $$, refusal to honor terms of contract, construction mistakes like installing pool light in the wrong end of pool through the shell (then stating they wont fix it), drainage pipe going into the dirt under the pavers and screen cage, multiple incorrect diagrams on the permit, charging the customer to fix their diagram errors, and disregard for SRQ County rules like posting permit, accurate drawings, and safety fence collapsed into pool. Gettle could not keep my project details straight - forgot to add cover pit to diagram, steps in wrong location, equipment in garage instead of outside next to pre-existing electrical hookup.

When confronted with questions, Gettle goes on the offensive, bullying, rude, dismissive - accuses you of insulting him and his wife! Classic deflection by a bully. And higher cost than most other contractors, turns out. His subs treat your property as their garbage can - never a clean up, rarely an appearance by Gettle at the construction site/when he does show up is unannounced or late.

Most of their subs give you an eye roll when you ask them about Gettle - telling me that Gettle gets fired on a regular basis. Lack of communication with the subs created issues - gunite company came loaded to pour but had wrong diagram, pool shell pour measurements off requiring repair, sent excavation company to the site on the one day I said no one onsite due to social event - then blamed me for project delays! Does the bare minimum on specs for pool like drainage and rebar in shell. Gettle even threatened his subs with legal action if they delivered any further services or materials to the site during dispute.

I fired them in February, got a lawyer and settled after weeks of foot dragging by Gettle and his lawyer - they of course did not admit any wrongdoing, even with pictures of the mess and a text/email thread a mile long. So $13K+ over budget, have to fix serious errors in construction, 6 months behind schedule, large amount of wildlife attracted by stagnant water in pool shell, and may have to get an extension on the permit since it is almost a year since approval. Had to re-file NOC and various other forms to get permit going again. Ruined winter & spring season in Sarasota, now so delayed it is impacting summer season up north.

Still very glad I fired them, will have a much better pool in the end and dont have to put up with their nonsense. Again, run away from these horrible people unless you would enjoy dealing with the above, all for over market prices.

The service has been a big problem I wouldn't recommend this company because the owner is difficult to work with. I have had many many problems with the pool and it doesn't seem to be important to them. It always happens on a holiday weekend and " it's always my fault". Their costumer service SUCKS! Scott & his Team did a wonderful job redoing our entire pool area! It turned out gorgeous! Job was on time, excellent quality and they were professional!

Very sad and disappointed to experience a company that has knowledge for beautiful designs but knows Nothing about customer service. I will recommend for you not to judge the book by its cover with Gettle Pools as pretty as their pool pictures look.is the same as rotten, inconsiderate, rude, and terrible ppl that they are in real life. SPEND YOUR HARD WORK EARNED MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE. God Bless

Scott and Amy are the best. Love working with them. They build and rebuild pools for my partnerships and I am very happy with them. Scott is a great communicator.

This company is by far the best pool builder that I’ve ever used!!! Highly recommend

My weekly service keeps my pool clean and balanced. I never have to worry about anything because I know my tech is on it! (long before I even realize I have a problem). They also found a leak that multiple other companies could not find; I was having to add water to my pool weekly! It's great to know I have a reliable, trustworthy and competent pool service/contractor.

I paid Scott Gettle to lie to me and waste my time. Pretty much the only thing that he knows how to do is to collect money. He'll be sweet when he comes around for that. Everything that he told me that was not in writing was a lie.

AVOID THIS COMPANY. They are borderline criminally untrustworthy. Badly botched a pool design for me, refused to take responsibility, and then even advised other pool companies to stay away because it would be hard to fix. Owner is seriously bad news. Steer clear.

We had another pool company hired and they messed up everything and was a nightmare. Scott and his crew corrected thier incompetence and still exceeded our expectations. If you think hiring a professional is expensive trust me wait till you hire an amateur! Hands down we only use Gettle pools now. As a local realtor I've encountered many "professionals" but none compare to Gettle pools when it comes to quality, service and actual professionalism.

Never use Gettle. The process was horrible. We were NEVER communicated/educated about what to expect through the various stages of construction. His subcontractors would show up and we would have to get educated on the fly. Gettle's lack of concern for his crew, the quality of work, and mostly the client is beyond terrible. He actually yelled at us when we needed to know what to expect and how the project was proceeding.

We did, however, hear from him repeatedly when a payment was due. Then, we would hear from him everyday - twice a day - until paid. NEVER use this company. His crew even just shrugs and shake their heads when talking about his lack of reliability and communication. There is no way to rate with zero stars.

I need a pool lift to my existing pool as I have been in a wheel chair for over eight year Gettle was the only company that would come in and do the complete job from cutting the deck to installing the lift. Scott and his entire staff were fantastic right down to showing me how it works. If you need a pool lift do not hesitate to contact Scott. Thank you for all you have done for me.

Worst pool company we've ever used. They changed their verbal quote after installation, didn't show up for service but billed us for it and hung up on us when we called for an explanation. No Star rating!
