About Us-A-1 Floor Covering, Inc. was originally started in 1972 by Roger Watley. Jimmy Chancler, Sr. and his wife, Harriet, bought the business from Roger in 1975. Jimmy and Harriet ran the family-owned business until 1995 when they retired and sold the business to their sons-Mark, Kelly and Jimmy, Jr.Throughout the years of operation, many family members have been employed with the company in positions ranging from accounting to installation of products. The company's first location was at 2801 Amarillo Blvd. West. In 2002, the Chancler brothers acquired a new building located at 7201 Hillside-its current location.

We had a great experience with A-1 Flooring. Linda listened to all of our concerns with picking out the right carpet for our needs. We were on a time crunch and that was met. We hired them to replace bedroom carpets and to refinish newly exposed hardwood floor in the hallway. The experience with the carpet was fine, but our hardwood floor refinishing project turned into a nightmare. It wasn't that their contractor was a bad floor man, but their customer support between them and the contractor they hired gave us horrible customer support, not informing us and as a result the floors got marred up beyond repair and had to be completely redone.
Do not under any circumstance hire them for anything as involved as hardwood floor refinishing. We hired a contractor who kept us informed and gave us explicit instructions on how to protect the new surface.
