I am a retired Superintendent from a large general contracting company here in Reno. Throughout my 40 year old career I have seen the good the bad and the ugly. Mt Rose is none if the above. They are great. What most home owners don't understand is a lot of HVAC contractors here in town aren't even capable of making ductwork. The "V" in HVAC.
Whenever we could hand select sub contractors for projects, we would exclusively use mt rose. Ever wonder who does the HVAC for all the large HVAC buildings around town? Mt rose. I don't know if they do much residential projects. But I do know they are the ones for commercial and industrial. I guess I'm writing this because on multiple aspects this company has saved my butt. The least an old retired cowboy could do is write this review.

Our A/C recently stopped working at our restaurant in Truckee. I called 3 different HVAC companies and did not receive a call back from any of them. I called Mt. Rose and they called me back immediately. The receptionist suggested some things on the phone to see if we could get it up and running. When the unit still didn't work, she expeditiously scheduled us for first call the next morning.
They arrived on-time (early), were extremely professional, let me know the problem, and gave me an estimate on the spot, The part was ordered and they showed up a DAY EARLY with the part. Our A/C is running better than it ever has. Thank you Mt. Rose!

Mt. Rose installed four new HVAC systems in our custom-built house in July, 2007 and we have since discovered the following problems with the installations, which have, in all, cost us over $7,000 of our own money to repair: (1) One of the four units was designed for a mobile home and was an illegal installation in a stick-built house. Cost $5,000 to replace when this was discovered three years later. (2) None of the other three were converted from natural gas to propane at the time of installation.
This cost us $1,200 in troubleshooting and repair when the errors were discovered in 2011 and 2014. (3) None of the units were converted for high-altitude use, and we had to pay another contractor to make the conversions after the fact. This cost us another $1,000. (3) The intake plenums were not built to code, being formed from flex tube instead of sheet metal.
If we had discovered these within the statue of limitations for litigation, we would have sued this company for negligence AND fraud (fraud for installing a mobile home unit and charging us for a standard house furnace unit). If you hire them, we recommend that you have a second contractor inspect their work in process and insist the building inspector inspect all of the work, not just make a cursory visual inspection of the unit from the outside. I would not hire them to ever touch anything on our property again.

The Mt. Rose Heating's technician that came to my house was incredibly inconsiderate and rude. When he came to check on my air conditioning unit, he didn't realize that he was tracking in mud and dirt on my carpet. I asked him to clean his shoes and he just laughed a little and didn't even apologize. I had to spend an extra $50 to shampoo my carpet.
Not to mention an entire Saturday that I wasted. I will never use them again. The service also took longer than I expected and came out to be double what the other guys would've charged me.
