Universal Roofing

Universal roofing is a family owned and operated, and have been around for 35 years. They did my parents roof 20 years ago and did my roof in 2020. Turned out really well, and had no issues. Universal installed gutters, downspouts, siding, windows, doors, flat roofs, steep roofs, and can do copper bays. I was thinking about switching to a metal roof over the front porch but decided not to do it.

The roof took 1 day to remove and install. The crew worked until 8:00 PM and was starting at 7:00. Gutters were installed a week later. Communication was excellent and the quality of work was amazing. They cleaned my yard very well and protected my plants. No issues with the install.

I have utilized Universal Roofing (Randy Yeary and Rob Yeary) for many years for roofing and gutter repairs and replacements. We most recently had them put on a new roof and gutters on an existing home we purchased. As always, Universal's costs were reasonable, and they were timely and professional in the work they performed. I always give their name to family and friends who have roof or gutter issues.

Local co. Rob played baseball in college @ Butler U., and reliable Hoosier, Family owned biz. You're co. rocks and will refer you in future as my R.E. biz continues to flourish after 38 yrs. This company was amazing to work with. They completed the work in a timely manner. The crew was polite and respectful of our property. They did a wonderful job communicating with us throughout the process. I would use them again and would recommend to anyone searching for an honest roofing company to contact Universal. Universal Roofing was great to work with on our project, which was a complete new roof due to hail damage. The roof is beautiful, and Behory, who was our main contact, gave the project a personal touch, advocated for us with the insurer, and stayed on top of the project throughout. We also appreciated how responsive Beahory was to any questions. If we had to leave a message (which was infrequent as he usually answers his phone), he would call back immediately. We would highly recommend this company.

I had them come out to do windows on the house just two of them. Initially they were very professional and seem to understand what they were doing. When the windows came in they took the old ones out and went to install the new ones. I asked multiple times why the window looks so much smaller or why there was such a big gap on top and on the sides of the window.

They told me that was normal installation and that they would fill in the gaps and he wouldn't even know the difference. Clearly you can tell and we also don't have a lot of windows for natural light so every inch mattered. After multiple conversations with the person installing the windows who said had 20+ years of experience and then also reaching out to the person ordered the windows they both said that this was normal installation.

After that I sent pictures to a couple of friends in construction and my dad and brother who all stated that the windows were the wrong size and that they need to fix it and put new windows in. So I had them remeasure the old windows and then I asked the guy that ordered the windows what the measurements were that he ordered and they were off after that he finally admitted the mistake and re-ordered the windows and put them on a stat order.

Once the new windows came in the guy with 20 years experience set out in the truck for most of the installation. I also had my father come out to make sure that they install the windows correctly. He had to make a few suggestions when they were installing them and then they try to explain what they were doing and my dad told them I've been doing this for 50+ years so they stopped arguing.

I will give them credit for fixing their mistakes. They also installed a piece of the siding in the wrong spot which they came back out to fix. Also one of the weatherstrip on the window was ripped and they came out twice to fix it. I will give them credit for doing the extra work to fix the problems but a lot of the problems or self inflicted by not owning up to the wrong size windows.

The fact that they try to install the wrong size windows for over four hours before I told them to order the right windows makes me question their ability to install windows properly or to address if there is any issues with installation

We were impressed with the quality and professionalism of Universal and their employees. The company was quick to respond to our situation, the employees were excellent at their jobs and friendly to boot. The new roof and gutters they installed looks awesome and are performing well. The roof repair also looks great and they suggested and added soffit venting that we didn't even know we needed; makes sense to keep it ventilated and dry. We would highly recommend Universal to anyone needing quality work.

At each phase he showed himself to be knowledgeable, professional & an excellent project manager - through choosing materials, tear down & re-roofing, soffit repairs, & gutter installation. This review is solely based on the customer service aspect of Universal. So far their work has held up, but we have had issue after issue in terms of customer service. First off, our project manager was impossible to get a hold of. I tried multiple times and points of contacts and he never once contacted me back. Second, they charged our card three times the amount we owed. Recently, we just received ANOTHER invoice from Universal when we already paid everything.

Communication is poor and the errors are just a pain to deal with over and over. Due to these issues I would not recommend Universal to anyone. I also plan on contacting our insurance to let them know because they recommended Universal to us and we have not been pleased. I hate writing poor reviews and like to give businesses a chance, but it has just been issue after issue.

Universal Roofing replaced our roof a few years ago after a bad storm. They left a lot of damage to the exterior of our home when they left - a window screen was cut and the large piece of glass in our back door was scratched were the biggest two things. They fixed them right up though without a fight. Our small issues have been since that time. We had a problem with our roof/the siding on our house above our garage.

Water was getting into the garage somehow. They said they knew what it was, and we paid $800 to fix it. We had a large rain about a month ago and discovered water is still getting through inside our garage. We have reached out a few times, and the person we are supposed to be getting in touch with is very difficult to get a hold of, and we can't get him to respond. Not a great level of service here although my husband says they seem to be nice people for what that is worth.

I called Universal Roofing based on the (4) good reviews I read about them on line. I had some questions concerning my roof about what repairs "might" be needed. I called one morning right before lunch and got their VM. I left them a message to call me. Nothing. The following day I called again. VM.left another message. No call back. Finally, I decided to try one more time, and this time a lady answered.

I told her about my issue.she put me on hold.and then came back a few minutes later and said someone would call me back. It's been another 2 days. I now must agree with the bad review I read on here. I guess business much be really good and they do not need any more customers. That's ok.because Universal Roofing is not the only roofing company out there.

I was so pleased with Universal Roofing when they came to look at the leak we were having in our 10 year old roof. They were the only roofing company out of the 3 that I called to actually return my call and make an appt right away. When Jay came to our house he was very friendly and respectful. We felt comfortable with him. He was very honest and even told us with the issue we had, we could wait and see what happens during the next heavy rains.

He even said that our 10 year old roof still looked really great. We weren't pressured into having work done that didn't really need to happen right away. We will definitely be calling Universal Roofing in the future!

They are great! I have worked with them for years and they have helped take care of us when our roof was hit by crazy wind from a tornado. Local company who stands by the work they do. We had many companies knock on our door and many of our neighbors were scammed. Luckily we knew who to call!

High price and the price is definitely not a reflection of the quality of workmanship.
