Hamstra Heating & Cooling Hamstra Heating & Cooling was founded November 1, 1983 by Glenn Hamstra and his two sons, Jeff and David. Glenn had 34 years of experience in the heating & cooling industry, Jeff 11 years and David nine. Tired of being unable to provide the highest levels of customer service, Glenn felt it was the right time to set a new standard for the heating & cooling industry.

Jeff and David were working as field installers for separate companies at the time and jumped at the chance to join their dad in the new business venture. They too had seen the lack of customer service provided in Southern Arizona and saw this as a prime opportunity.

Recently we had our a/c go out at 11pm during the night. We immediately called Hamstra's after hours emergency line, they stated someone would call us in the morning. At 8am we followed up with them, they stated they never received my call (even though I received a confirmation email) and now couldn't come out until the following day. We have a monthly package that we have paid into with Hamstra since 2018 that provides "next day service response".

When mentioning this to them, they stated I would have had to call before 12pm. I did not come across such a rule in their terms and conditions sent to us when we signed up for this package. Today is an excessive heat warning and tomorrow we were scheduled to have an engagement party at this house with 20+ guests. I was very disappointed in their lack of accommodation and urgency to our situation, when we have been a customer since 2008 when they installed our a/c.

From there, we called Goettle who was in route to our house within an hour of calling. I would hope in the future they would be able to provide better customer service to their clients of almost 15 years.

Amazing company! They did such a great job at very reasonable prices. I had an emergency system outage yesterday in the high heat, and the tech Daniel came out late at night, did an amazing job, was very friendly and helpful! I would not expect someone coming out for a late visit to be so pleasant and happy while doing the job, but he was. Amazing service, they take amazing care of you, I would recommend this company to anybody in need! Thank you so much for saving us! Myself and my family greatly appreciate it!

Hamstra is a quality company I will continue to use for years to come. They service my HVAC system twice yearly and recently installed a new system to replace our retired 17 year old system. Installation went smooth, installed by Andres and Bryan. They were professional, efficient, and answered all questions before leaving. I have always had positive interactions with all Hamstra employees. I highly recommend this company.

Had Hamstra out to do annual maintenance on my aging HVAC system. They were responsive and scheduled me quickly. The service tech came and was knowledgeable. Prepared, and friendly. He determined my system is at end of life and did some minor things to keep it running. Hamstra will be out soon to install a new system! We purchased 2 AC units in 2018 from Hamstra. One system has required many service calls after install. In 2020 I had many service calls to get the same issue resolved- which was resolved after emailing Hamstra of the on going issue. I was less than enthused that the same unit was acting up again but James was helpful in getting someone out as soon as possible.

Then we met Shane, the technician that came out today. My husband and I were blown away by the customer service he provided. He was professional, listened to what the issue was, explained what he was going to do. He found the issue and fixed. He did a thorough examination of all the equipment. We are so thankful for his amazing work and reminded us again why we chose Hamstra for our new A/C units and service. We have been customers since 2009 because of employees like Shane! Hamstra you should know that Shane does an amazing job of representing you.

Chris responded to the A/C outage in my house. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do to get our A/C running again. From start to finish Chris resolved our A/C outage in under 2 hours. The cost of the job was reasonably priced and well worth it. I will contact Hamstra Heating & Cooling in the future if any new issues arise. I would highly recommend Hamstra Heating & Cooling to anyone needing the services they offer.

Hamstra installed our HVAC system 5 years ago and has serviced it ever since. Our experience has never been less than outstanding, from communication with the office to the technicians who have serviced the system. Shane Amos was the most recent and like everyone we have dealt with he was prompt, conscientious, and professional. I would recommend Hamstra wholeheartedly!

As an IT project manager, I am rarely impressed by customer service. Admittedly I'm tough to impress and probably have unreasonable standards. Hamstra has blown my socks off from the initial discussion on our needs with John to the engineering review with Robert and the installation team with Andres & Andres. The entire crew and their professionalism, positive attitude, know-how, courtesy and respect, and the genuine happiness of their staff have been an astonishingly outstanding experience.

If that wasn't enough, the installation process ran with clockwork precision. I've never seen anything like it. Hamstra impeccably coordinated everything. It was a jaw-dropping experience, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome-sheer perfection. I really can't say enough good things about the people, the product, and the experience. I'm afraid I now have an even higher bar for customer service, implementation, and support.

We recently had to find a good company for a new furnace! We had several reps interviewed and only one Rep, John Sudbeck of Hamstra actually asked the right questions to be sure we had the right sized unit! We were not oversold and knew our square footage up front! The service team that installed our unit was professional, precise and very meticulous in overall installation.

If you choose a company just on price you will not be happy in long run as Service, support and a company that strives to please is what you are inevitably paying for! Plus the person who recommended Hamstra will receive $100! This is a huge decision and so happy we chose Hamstra! Chuck and Donna Cochran

We had a HVAC fan go out in August of 2021. I found Hamstra here on Yelp with favorable reviews. Setting up the appointment and having the service technician come out was an easy process. The fan motor was replaced and everything seemed fine. I have to note I thought the pricing was rather high, maybe the "Tucson in August price", not sure. I'd shop around if the situation had allowed more time.

The reason for this review is not this service but rather the follow up. In late December the fan started to act up and noticeably something was wrong. I called back to have a check up. Technician came out and diagnosed the fan was bad. They stood by their service and replaced at no cost. That is important and is appreciated.

Just had Chris over for probably my 8th AC/Heater checkup. He is a total professional and has kept both my 13+ unit and my mom's 14 yo unit running great. I had no issues this year with either AC. The two technicians, Steve and Juan, who removed my old furnace, a/c unit, and swamp cooler were amazing! They were extremely organized and worked efficiently and quickly while also answering my questions and addressing my concerns. They went above and beyond the normal installation issues and ensured the a/c, furnace, and swamp cooler (old) connections were properly terminated.

They cleaned up as they went and it was pleasure having such polite and knowledgeable young men perform the work. Additionally, the system engineer, Dustin, was equally knowledgeable, professional, and courteous in all my dealings with him! I highly recommend Hamstra H & C to anyone having issues.

I was trying to be proactive and replace my heatpump prior to it failing, as it was 18 years old and you could tell it was working really hard to cool my house (per my electric bill). I reached out 5 local companies to give me an estimate on the replacement cost of my unit. I selected the 5 based on reputation and google reviews that i read extensively. Hamstra sent over Ryan, what a great guy! very knowledgeable and polite and most of all, not a salesman I was told up front by all the companies that came to my house that there was a severe shortage of AC units, in the range of tonnage and seer required for my house. Having said that, Hamstra came in with the lowest cost so I selected them.

After waiting 12 weeks for the unit to finally arrive (No Fault of Hamstra's), I was introduced to Steve and Juan. They killed it on the installation. They did a fantastic job. Everything was clean, tidy and very professional. You could tell they take great pride in their work. Took them roughly 12 hours from start to finish and the only time they stopped working was when I bought them a pizza to show my appreciation for the quality of work they were doing. Finally, due to the delays in the unit and such i was introduced to Mike. Mike was nice enough to make sure my 12 weeks of patience wasn't forgotten. Thanks Ryan, Steve, Juan and Mike. I appreciate the level of customer service and professionalism provided to me through this entire experience.

Juan, Steve and James were incredibly professional and courteous, and did a great job during the installation of my new AC unit. I have used Hamstra for the servicing of my old AC unit and they were always great to work with. All of the service techs I have worked with have been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When I decided to upgrade to a new unit it was a great experience working with Big John and everyone at the Hamstra office. Was able to get on the schedule quickly after my older unit broke. Great people with great service!

Great service when we needed our old unit repaired. When the unit eventually failed later in the summer. we had to buy a new unit. We got a credit for the previous repair work towards the new unit. The sales, installation and repair folks have all been absolutely great to deal with. All have been very professional and courteous. I recommend Hamstra for sure!

Called for AC check since our AC wasn't cooling. Tech was clueless and couldn't find out what was wrong. He kept calling another tech for advice. He finally gave up and started to prepare our bill. Nothing was fixed! He checked the unit one more time at my husband's request and came back and said it was a bad compressor. We paid $129 for an incompetent repairman. The same day we called another company who sent out a very knowledgeable repairman. Don't use Hamstra!

Once again we needed help with one of our two A/C units so I put a call in to Hamstra. We were put on the schedule and given a window for the tech to arrive. Shane showed up in the middle of that window wearing gloves, a mask and booties while he was inside. Shane quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it, he went above and beyond by doing things to try to prevent its recurrence. Here's an excerpt from his report: "Today I came out to diagnose why the west system was not operational.

Upon inspection I found the low voltage fuse blown caused by the contactor coil. I replaced the contactor under warranty and then ran the system in cooling. I noticed the refrigerant pressure slightly low and added 6oz to the system to bring to recommended ranges. Since we replaced the coil last year I went ahead and did a courtesy leak search at the indoor coil and didn't find any leaks.

I did tighten the valve cores to the service port so it may have leaked from that area. Allother checks of capacitor, amperage, and temperature are in recommended ranges." The charges were very reasonable. Thank you Shane. Thank you Hamstra Heating and Cooling. John Blezenski Hidden Valley

I became a Hamstra Heating & Cooling customer this summer after my A/C died. The minute the service technicians arrived I noticed their professionalism and a difference between other companies. I felt secure hiring Hamstra to replace my A/C, and I just finished a very helpful 6-month warranty appointment with Hamstra technician Chris. Hamstra has provided an excellent value for the money. All of the Hamstra employees I've been in contact with care about customer service and maintaining a positive reputation for this Tucson company.

Got a quote from them for a new unit. Their price was 30% higher than the other two vendors I contacted and the commission- fueled salesman was pushy, unwilling to give straight answers, and way too slick.

I have waited to post to just make sure I wasn't dreaming. In September, our main AC unit went out and we queried multiple local and franchise companies looking for the best quote and quality. It was a mess- quotes all over the place, even with completely different recommendations for units! I felt overwhelmed and confused, but we reached out to Hamstra and they were so helpful.

Their technician, "Big John" came to our house and met with my husband and explained everything to him, even answering NUMEROUS follow up questions without any annoyance or delay. Once we opted to use them and replaced both units and the process continued to be easy. Their installers called us each time they arrived and left our property (since we were working).

The job was done on time and you literally could not tell anyone had been to our home. Systems work perfectly and we did not feel we were upsold or sold products we didn't need. We weren't pressured to buy options "Now" to avoid higher rates later- in fact, it was opposite, we were encouraged to try out our new system and let them know if we needed anything more later (without increased prices). We are very happy so far and hope the AC debacle of 2019 will end up just being a funny story down the road!

The repair to my AC went beautifully, from start to finish. The office staff were pleasant and helpful. Saul, the service rep. showed up on time. He was friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable. The Lennox system Hamstra installed on our roof in 2009 had cost so much money--and when we received (from Hamstra, and then another company) an analysis that it needed a new coil (not under warrantee) to the tune of more than $4K, we replaced it. But not with a Lennox, and not with Hamstra. We replaced it with an American Standard, installed by a company that doesn't reward techs with commissions, but pays them a salary with benefits.

I normally have average to decent service when it comes Heating and Cooling repair but I wanted to say what a pleasure it was to have Jay Strong come out and inspect and service our AC unit. He was extremely knowledgable and very professional. He spent time explaining all technical items and answered all our questions we needed. In the end have armed us with all the things we needed to feel confident in our equipment.

We are under a Silver service contract for our two residential units with Hamstra, which has proved very valuable when the equipment dies and the heat is on. Thank you for being so professional and responsive! Our last technician, Nick, was very thorough and helpful with his suggestions about the equipment and managing our summer electricity usage. This AC equipment was expensive; we invest in their service contract for responsiveness and to insure its longevity. Tk u Hamstra!

Our rental house cooler broke down. I called Hamstra to come take a look at it. They took my info Friday evening, and then asked if it was an emergency. I said no only because it's not THAT hot yet, and there is only one person currently staying in the house who said a fan has been OK. I wanted to avoid emergency costs. I hadn't heard anything back by mid morning Saturday, so called again.

Once again, they took down my information, and this time I actually got an email saying they be reaching out to their service techs to then get back to me on a date and time. It's now 2 days later and no response from anyone. They were very polite on the phone, I'll give them that. However, I think if its "not an emergency " at least give me an idea of a timeline. Granted, its not a heat stroke situation, yet, but the house doesn't have any air. Luckily, it's been fairly cool.

Maybe I should have said it's an emergency. We've since sorted this out with someone else. Curious when I'll actually hear back as Google shows me that Hamstra is closed today. Just disappointed.

This is to follow up to a review I posted on Google yesterday.maybe Hamstra will read this one and post a real response and not a canned "sorry we didn't meet your expectations." Called another company to look at the not blowing cool air issue.tech double checked the battery in the thermostat (that's what Hamstra installed).checked the filter.major dirty.replaced now have cool air. Bottom line I agree with my fellow 1 star folks.

I am responsible for maintaining a modular building with 15 HVAC units. I had a company from Tucson that performed the routine maintenance on the units every other month for over two years. They missed one of their scheduled appointments, then as luck would have it one of the units quit altogether a week later, in July.

I wish I was a time traveler so I could go back and have Hamstra hook me up years ago! I was in desperate need when both my heat and ac died. I called one of the "bigger" competitors only to be put on a waiting list. Then I called two friends who both recommended Hamstra and they were there for me. It was like and AC and Heating intervention you could only see on a TV show only it was real and wonderful. Hamstra not only got me up and running fast but I have a much better system that I wish I had from the start. Thanks Hamstra

While the guys who came out to look at my system were nice, Hamstra completely took advantage of me. I was charged $300 for a diagnostic, in which I was told that my system needed a new reversing valve and condensing coil, to be fixed for a grand total of $3900 OR I could put the $300 I'd already spent towards a new system for $8000 (their way of trapping you into using their services).

I had another company come do a diagnostic, who only charged $80, and told me that the caps were missing from the system which was the likely culprit for the leaked refrigerant, and that both the components Hamstra listed as broken were actually working just fine. They replaced the caps, charged the system, and ran diagnostics again to find the system was, in fact, NOT leaking.

They fixed it for a total of $230 - which is $70 less than Hamstra charged me to do absolutely NOTHING except try and take advantage of me. As a young, single woman, I feel Hamstra exploited my heating/cooling naivety and took full advantage of my situation. ALWAYS GET ANOTHER OPINION! As I said, the guys were nice enough, but company policy is clearly to milk their customers for as much money as possible. Stay away!

This year when we were faced with replacing two heating and cooling units that were 25 years old, I was a basket case. A friend recommended Hamstra - and it was the best suggestion. Comfort Specialist Wes Adams came to the house, explained how the procedure would work, took measurements, and talked about the new equipment.

Hamstra installed the original systems in our home 20 years ago and have provided excellent and timely service whenever we called. By the time we spoke with Ryan, we had already gotten 5 bids from other companies. The price wasn't the lowest (it was the second lowest), but Ryan was completely knowledgeable and honest about what our particular home needed, which was most important to us.

Dave and Mike came out to find out why the new zone control unit was not coming on in heating or cooling. They looked at the zone board, and found all heating and cooling circuits in second stage locations.

John (S), Steve, David, Alex, Travis, Ivan, and Jose (I think we got all of the guys who helped listed here) all were very professional and did an amazing job taking our two old units (almost 30 years old), installing two new units, modifying duct work, and installing a new unit in our garage.

We've always used Hamstra for the last 12 years and are very pleased with their people and their work. The previous owners (of our home) used Hamstra to install the heating & cooling equipment and recommended we continue using Hamstra. We did and we will continue to. We suggest you use Hamstra also!
