Today I called Patty at Bruce's Air conditioning only for a Quote on new AC for my property, she said today between 2-4, I told her need to confirm its ok with tenants and call her back, she sent over a young technician to perform diagnostics and he climbed on my roof and popped off the Freon charge cap and caused the system to break totally. I only asked for a quote to replace. Tech said he was told to diagnose and repair.
After speaking to (manager) he offered me a cheap model for over $12k. for 1800sqft house. Now its my problem. Now I have tenants with no AC while I try to fix my AC. Bruce's air should pay part of the costs I have to incur. Yes I was planning on replacing my AC, that's why I wanted a quote, not break it and put my tenants in hell of 110 degrees! Update since yesterday, The owner reached out to me, and made things right.
The system is fixed and blowing cool air. This was a mix of bad communication and frustration with the weather heating up, in the End Bruce's AC took care of me in the end. Thanks!

Bruce A/C provided me with very good service during the weekend. After a few attempts to repair my AC, I had to replace the system. The replacement was not managed by Bruce AC, however I have to recognize Bruce AC management for their fairness. After discussing my case with them, they gave me a significant rebate on spare parts and service fees since the unit could not be repaired. Kudos to Bruce for treating me fairly despite the fact I bought the replacement unit from another provider

USE THEM! Aside from the fact that are a family-owned small business (which we all should support), they were fantastic! I knew my a/c was on its last legs, and they were honest, explained everything, gave me options to choose based on my budget, and were here the next day to do the work. The guys that did the install were efficient, knowledgeable, and just really nice people. Felt really good about it from start to finish. I have used Bruce's for 14 years. Good work. On May 9 I had a complete install. The install seemed to go well. Its after the service where the disappointments occurred. Its been almost 2 full weeks and they have never emailed me my receipt or rebate info. I finally got a response via text on 19th. Apologies and a promise to get everything emailed to me.
Didn't happened. After spending a small fortune i would think i would have gotten a follow up call to see how everything is. Nope. I can't even get them to get me a receipt. They got my money so apparently that where the service stops.

They might tell you something needs to be fixed which really doesn't and try to rip you off, in my case the first time it had happened. So beware and get a second opinion! Dont waste money on their pricy parts that may go bad soon. My AC unit didnt work and I had called Bruces air, seems my battery on the thermostat died. However Bruces agent told I might need newer parts for my outdoor units such as capacitor and condenser fan motor which was like $1100 bucks plus other costs. 5 months later the 200 Turbo capacitor failed and they didn't honour the 5 year warranty on it and I again had to pay for a new capacitor. I do appreciate their responsiveness.

Three SRP-preferred contractors looked at but were not interested in replacing the ceiling mounted AC in my condo. Fortunately, the last one recommended Bruce's AC. I am very happy they did. Bruce's installed a new AC system in my linen closet which decreased the noise by 90%. The installers were experienced and professional. The customer service and follow-up was great. I would give Bruce's AC a superior rating and highly recommend them.

Wesley from Bruce's AC came out and did a complete diagnosis on the 3 AC systems of a house we are purchasing. He did a fantastic job, spent considerable time going over each unit with a fine tooth comb and testing all the particulars of each unit. I deal with a lot of contractors in my business dealings that "go through the motions" but this guy put time effort and concern into what he was doing. The price was more than reasonable and the recommendations were spot on. This is my go to company for all things AC from this point forward and Wesley is the man!

This was by far the best experience I've had with an Air conditioning company. The customer service was phenomenal and our tech was very honest and open about the issues we were having. He was able to fix our issue on a unit that is 23 years old. We are hoping our unit will last through the summer and will be replacing it later this year. I will be calling Bruce's to get the job done when that time comes. I would highly recommend this company for any of your A/C needs.

They were able to send a tech out the same day after calling 10 that didn't have an opening for days. They have good ratings and I see why. Elias came out an hour early and fixed my AC right as a horrible storm started. He was committed to making sure I was taken care of despite of it. This is the only company I'll ever refer out to my network. I'm beyond satisfied with their professionalism and great service.

We called a few AC repair companies and were told "someone will call you back soon" once our AC just stopped working. Waited an hour for a return call and decided to call Bruce's Air Conditioning. So glad we did! Our technician came out less than 2 hours from my original call and 30 mins earlier than we were expecting him. Franklin was our tech and he is AWESOME!
Very professional, knowledgeable, personable, and courteous. He fixed our AC in less than 1 hour and we were back to a chilly home in no time! Bruce is lucky to have Franklin, we will definitely call this company again if needed.

I have to say that out of all of the air conditioning companies that I've used over the last 22+ years since living in Arizona, Bruce's has the most honest technicians. My service from Gavin today just reinforced my experience. I won't bad mouth other companies that I've used, but suffice it to say, that this is the only company that I'd recommend.

Wait for it, Ok so I had another A/C company come out and fix my thermostat and maybe A/C, they told me that I need to pay $1,300 and I needed an entire A/C unit. So I didn't feel comfortable with them so I asked them to leave. I looked on Nextdoor to see who people were recommendating and Bruce's A/C was listed several times. I asked them to come out and do the $1,300 repairs that I was told I need to do before I got a new A/C unit.
When Franklin came out, he probably spent an hour in our attic, he came out and told me that he wasn't going to do the $1,300 of work as it would be wasted and that I needed a new unit. I was absolutely fine with that. When I bought my house it was something that was mentioned to me, it was an OLD unit and it was time. The whole thing started because we have a smart thermostat and turned the A/C off when we went on vacation.
We turned it back on a day before we got back and it was still not cooled down as much as we would like when we got home. We knew it was on its last leg. So we scheduled them to come out and they were very professional in every aspect of their multiple times at my house. Initial meeting, install, and follow up. I'm very pleased with them and I signed up for the 2 times a year service without anyone trying to pitch it to me. Overall the only thing I am disappointed with is that I wasted my time with the first A/C company.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff on the phone and in person, and still operated by the founding families. Not pushy on trying to upsell unnecessary items just to make a sale. Came out for a seasonal tune-up on two units, took pictures of the indoor and outdoor components as they were being inspected, offered some suggestions and information on what was available for updates/upgrades in the future but was reassuring that for right now there weren't any immediate needs for major purchases. Recommended changing one small component which I accepted and also gave some approximations as to what may be the next items requiring service.
The technician had been working 12-18 hour shifts for a week during the 115+ heatwave, and still arrived happy and ready to provide any assistance needed. There are many mechanical contractors in Arizona and finding a trustworthy ally for when something does break is very helpful. Going forward this will be the team I call and recommend to people who ask.

Having worked in the AC business, I am very particular about my service. Bruce's has always done a fantastic job for me and has always been fair with their pricing. Wesley, my usual technician, is always very professional and takes time to listen and provide feedback. I wouldn't trust my equipment to anyone else!

I had Bruce's Air come out for a unit that would not cool. I was told it was the coil and it would be $3900. I was then told to replace the unit and was offered some quotes (minimum starting upwards of 10k. I then called another company for a second quote. They were perplexed why I was told I needed a new unit as they say no one has even looked at the coils as they had not been unwrapped.
They showed me two pipes missing caps and added the caps. They said I most certainly do not need a new unit or new coils. Additionally, I was charged an absurd amount for freon from Bruce's vs. Gilbert Air ($135pound vs $75). My fault for not spot checking but will make sure others don't fall victim to my stupidness.

This is a PSA! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you do, be sure to get a 2nd opinion so you can be shocked at how badly they try to take advantage of you during the hot summers here. They know you want to act quick, and they will use it to their advantage, especially if you have an older unit and you don't know anything about AC repair. The gentleman came over and assessed the damage.
At first he said that I needed 2 voltage regulators, a compressor condenser, and a fan motor. I gave him the go ahead to fix it. After he installed those things, he tells me that he just found out that the compressor is broken and that I'm going to need a new one and also 17lbs of Freon. He says that for 1lb of Freon, they charge $230. So, with the cost of the compressor, Freon and labor it with be only a few thousand dollars less than a new unit and that it would be worth my while to just a new one.
We decided to get a 2nd opinion and had him take out all the parts he installed. So he left. The 2nd company came over and I told him that the compressor was broken according to Bruce's air. He checked it out and said it was fine. The compressor worked great. The only thing it needed was a new motor. I asked him if I needed Freon. He told me no, everything looks good.
When I told him that Bruce's air wanted to charge me $230 for 1lb of Freon, he looked shocked. He said his company charges $80 a lb. He also said my AC would only need 7lbs at the most! Luckily I got a 2nd opinion because I would have been 7k in debt! AVOID this company at all costs! Hopefully I can save someone from making a costly mistake!

I'm only compelled to write reviews when I horrible or exceptional service. This is a good story! I called this morning to see if someone could come out after 4:30, my service guy Kenny showed up at 4:35. He found the issue in 10 minutes and offered to repair it now, he had everything he needed to replace the old fuse box disconnect that was worn beyond repair. I figured if my bill was $300 or less I'd be fine with it, it was $275. I've used Bruce's for years and they never cease to impress me.

UPDATE to previous posting. In my original post I gave Bruce's a poor review because of my concerns and frustrations concerning 1-Previous services given by Bruce's, 2-My three year-old air-conditioning unit that Bruce's installed (is it a lemon-because of needs for repair so soon?), and 3-My warranty coverage (why wasn't anything covered?).
The unit stopped working/cooling and I called Bruce's. I am updating my review to state how much I appreciate and thank Bruce's for their help in fixing the unit and for waving some charges. Shopped around for two whole new systems. I remembered my neighbor had units replaced a few months ago and asked who they used because I was not happy with the quotes I was getting. Glad I did.didn't try to sell me most expensive option but what I needed. Great price and installed professionally. I've had two minor issues come up and they have responded immediately.

Service tech came out to rental property to check ac as it was not cooling properly. Told me I needed a part for 900. So I called around to obtain additional estimates. Found another company that was willing to do it for much less. That other company came out and said Bruce's was trying to rip me off. Ended up paying 100 and ac is working fine.

SAVED. MY. LIIIIFEEEE. Record breaking temperatures this week and 100 degrees out at 11:30pm. AC goes out and stops blowing cold air. I called their answering service and a nice woman said she would have someone call me. Everywhere else said they were booked through tomorrow evening or just plain didn't answer. Ken called me back in about 5 minutes, said he was on his way and got here within about 30 minutes or less.
He told me about the overtime charge ahead of time, which I appreciated (and really wasn't too bad). Ken replaced the broken capacitor in my unit, didn't have to order any parts and I didn't have to stay at a friend's and try to deal with this mess at work tomorrow! My hardworking AC is now blowing cold air again. Would have been a miserable night without Ken's help. Plus he was a nice guy and explained how it worked to me and what he found. Hope his hard work is rewarded! Thank you!

I called on a sunday and Gary called me back right away and said he would be here in 20 minutes. He got to my home in 15 minutes and checked everything. My circuit breaker had kicked off, and the a/c was running but I wanted to make sure it was ok. He couldn't find anything wrong, but said it could be the breaker going bad and to keep an eye on it.

Shout out to Bob who happened to be near by when I called to schedule an appointment and was at my house within the hour. Not only did he give me an honest estimate (that was about $900 less than the previous one (I didn't think I was getting a reliable quote that's why I was calling Bruce's), but he saved me from a drippy vent and didn't charge me!

I found Bruce's AC when using newacunit.com. i looked at the yelp reviews and rolled the dice. i was so surprised! I placed my order at 7pm and was called within an hour. they were out the next day to do a survey and installed the entire system the day after. the options they suggested were well needed and there wasn't any high pressure sales for the things i thought i didn't need.

Actually the work that Bruce's does is excellent, from appointment thru cleanup. They are NOT inexpensive! The problem in the A/C repair industry is that the parts, cost wise, are now very transparent! Today's invoice was over $700.00 to replace a Mother Board and Fan Motor. The fan, a Mars unit is $82.00 delivered on Amazon Prime. Bruce's charged $347.88 for the exact same part.
In fairness, the labor costs of $288.00 for four hours seemed reasonable and Hector completed the work in a timely fashion. As a retired Business School Professor, I would recommend a pricing strategy much different than 400 plus % on parts! One way or the other all of these guys have a business impervious to consumer transparency. Sounds like Obamacare!

Bruce's AC was recommended to me by my local handyman. They installed an AC unit in 2007 and it was substantially cheaper than the other outfits in town. (Maybe because they don't spend their money on TV ads?) I was grateful. Anything helps with big ticket items. Today I called because I was sweltering and they came out to check the AC unit. Quickly.
Good news. It was covered by extended warranty! No charge, that's music to my ears. I'm cooling off on this 111 degree day within 90 minutes (from initial call to signing $0 bill)! They are professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and they answer the phone with a live person when I first call. nice! Thank you, Bruce's AC!

I've used Bruce's Air Conditioning twice in the past 4 years. The most recent occasion being yesterday (August 11, 2012). I woke up and realized the house was warmer than is should be (83). The fan was blowing, but no cool air. I called Bruce's at 9:30 AM, they took my info and said I'd get a call back soon from a technician to schedule a service call. 10 minutes later the tech (Gary) called and set an appt. for 11 AM.
He showed up 15 min. early, quickly diagnosed the problem (bad capacitor), replaced it and was finished in less than 10 minutes! My repair was covered by warranty so there was "no charge" - even on a Saturday! My first service call 2 years ago was similarly smooth. Both times I've had "Gary" as the technician that came out. I would highly recommend Bruce's Air (and Gary) - no upsell and no BS about problems that don't exist (I've experienced both from other companies). Very satisfied customer!

I was having Air conditioning problems for the last 2 weeks. Since it has been so hot i think that it put too much strain on the unit. I called Bruce's on a recommendation. They came the very next day. I did not have an emergancy, i just needed it to run fully well. So the tec came the next day, right on time i may add. He had the problem fixed in no time, with just a $69.99 service fee.
That was 2 weeks ago and it is still running perfectly. Isn't that what we all want, the Air company to come auickly, fix the problem and not charge too much! Bruce's is just that! Thank you!
