Hydramix is our one-of-a-kind pool surface material that incorporates rock quartz with rounded pebbles. This blend gives you the best-of-both-worlds when it comes to appearance and quality. Because our aggregate is rounded you get the awesome look yet the smoothness you desire for walking and sitting on the pool surface.
Decking

Sometimes swimming pool decks are damaged to the point they need to be removed and repoured. Maybe you wish to extend the existing deck or reconfigure it. We use rebar instead of wire mesh to strengthen the concrete. Once the concrete is poured the rebar is pulled up so it sits in the middle of the concrete. This gives the most support to concrete and resistance from cracking.

For a simple resurface, tile, and coping remodel we drain your pool using a gas powered pump. Next we remove your coping and tile as well as chip around the fittings using a powered chisel/hammer. (If you are not getting new tile we sawcut under the tile and chip approximately three (3) inches of plaster so new plaster is flush with the tile.)

My experience with the business owner, Jim Pierce, was not good. I hired his company to re-plaster my pool. I awarded him the job on Friday, 2/18. On Sunday, 2/20, at 7:07 pm, he texted me saying he wanted to know if they could prep the pool the next day because an opening came up. I spoke with him & told him they could & asked approximately what time they would arrive.
He said around Noon. By 2:15 pm, no one had shown up so I texted him asking when they would arrive. No response. At 3:20 pm, I texted him saying two guys who don't speak English just arrived. At 4:21 pm, he texted back saying one of them does speak some English & both guys do great prep work. The prep work was done. The plastering was done on 2/28.
On 3/1, I texted him at 9:02 am, asking him to call me at his convenience. I didn't hear from him so, at 1:37 pm, I texted again asking what time I should expect someone to be out to brush the pool. I also asked that he call me. At 2:51 pm, I texted Albert (his employee) saying that Jim wasn't responding to my messages. I wrote that I hoped everything was ok.
I wrote that I was trying to find out when someone would be out that day to brush the pool. Jim called me 8 minutes after I texted Albert. I'm guessing Albert called him after receiving my text. I asked Jim what time I should expect someone to come out to brush the pool. His response was "the day is long and there is still a lot of time for someone to come out".
That rude and uncalled for response took me by surprise. During that conversation, I commented that communication with him so far had not been very good & he blew up at me & said he wasn't going to accept that statement. Him getting mad at me made me mad so I told him I was ending the call. I didn't hear back from him. Communication from that day forward was via text messages sent to both Jim and Albert.
Bottom line is, my experience with Jim is he doesn't like to be asked questions. I have never had a pool re-plastered before so I had a lot of questions. His big sales pitch is that his "blended" material has more quartz in it than the material other companies use. But, when the plaster was applied, you couldn't see the blue quartz at all. I asked Albert when they would apply the quartz & he told me it was already in the plaster.
How was I supposed to know that it takes several days & "brushing" before the blue quartz becomes visible? This was not explained to me ahead of time. This is my first experience doing business with an owner that responded rudely and unprofessionally to a simple question of what time I could expect someone to be out that day. Things went downhill from there. Albert didn't always show up when he was supposed to.
The after care water treatment (a $500 value) was completed with the water quality still not where it needs to be. Again, I didn't know what to expect from this project but what I definitely didn't expect was a business owner to answer "the day is long & there is still a lot of time for someone to come out". As it turns out, the estimate I received from the other company that came out the same day was less than Jim's. But, they didn't get it to me when expected & Jim pressured me to go with him because he needed/wanted a reference in the area I live in.
My advice is to shop around & wait for the estimates. Keep in mind my experience when making a decision. One would think that someone wanting business would behave professionally & not risk alienating a customer. It appears my questions were offensive to him. If a business owner doesn't want to be asked questions & can't provide a decent, professional & courteous response, but instead is argumentative, that demonstrates to me that they don't care about the customer.
Once I awarded him the job, it appears I was expected to let him do his thing & keep my mouth shut. His need for a reference in my area earned him one, just not the one I imagine he wanted. In summary, if you want to do business with Jim because he gives you a good price & pressures you for the job, keep in mind how I was treated.

Jim at Authentic, Plaster & Tile supplied a competitive quote for replastering & retiling my pool. They did a great job of draining, cleaning & replastering the pool. The new tile looks very good, too. Pool was refilled & a few days later, the service guy added new chemicals to get the pool started back up. Crew was good to work with & provided information as requested.

Terrible communication.actually no communication. I signed my agreement and was told by our sales rep (Martin) that Diane would be contacting me to schedule the job. After 11 days and no communication, I reached out to Martin again and he informed me again that Diane would reach out to schedule the job. They were very busy. I didn't expect the job to start immediately but they could not even take the time to acknowledge the receipt of my signed paperwork let alone get my pool scheduled. Due to the lack of professionalism and communication, I cancelled the job and would recommend NOT using this company for business in the future.

Mr. Jim Pierce and his crew did an amazing job at re-plastering our pool about 5 years ago, he sold us their product as Top Quality and gave us a 15 yr Material and Workmanship Warranty. I called and texted him 3 times yesterday as I found a crack at the bottom of the pool, and it is apparently the plaster that has cracked, because the water level had not lowered as of this morning. Anyhow, I called him at the office number and I said I tried reaching out to you yesterday because there's a crack at the bottom of our pool, which you re-plastered 5 yrs ago, and he's answer was "and you're calling me because you have a crack in your pool?" WOW, and his answer to the warranty was "it only covers one year" I'm not in disbelief, but I am taken aback, he has not even LOOKED at the crack and he said "it is not covered by the warranty" He was very professional and courteous when he came out to do the work and $5K out of us, I guess now that is time to respond for their product he's out of Customer Service manners.

Before we hired Jim Pierce, we told him what we wanted done to our backyard and swimming pool. We told him that we wanted to have the entire backyard redone which included a complete remodel of the swimming pool; in addition, to having the backyard completely cemented. He came to our home to pick up the first check to start the work and then thereafter he requested that the additional payments be taped to our backdoor.
We were not properly informed on the work that needed to be done to the pool nor were we properly informed on how extensive the electrical work would be and that the electrical work had to be permitted. The work took seven (7) months to complete and he was never hands on. He insisted that the guys that plastered the pool collect the last payment before they began the work even though he knew fully well that there was still additional work that needed to be completed. Authentic Plaster & Tile wanted to keep the 15+ year old pool and spa lights in the swimming pool.
He also has his installer reinstall the blower that was 15+ years old. I had to have his installer remove the blower and we had to personally go out and purchase a new blower in addition to purchasing a new pool and spa light. We should have requested that Authentic Plaster & Tile provide a professional 2D or 3D drawing that would have been specific to the work that was going to be done.
I expected a more professional businesslike conduct and healthier communication on this project especially given the magnitude and cost. I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessional manner that Authentic Plaster & Tile handled my backyard project. We were not even given the courtesy of a final walk through to inspect or discuss the work that had been done. We have yet to receive a Thank You for allowing them to do the work. Spears
