John put a roof on our home about 8 years ago and did a terrific job. We have a 1926 Tudor with a steep roof that had cedar shingles on it. John and his crew were very professional. They replaced it with a composition roof that looks great! Highly recommend John Michael's .

John Michael and crew did an incredible job - replaced our steeply-pitched roof in its entirety (and two skylights), attended to some patching of potential leaky areas on the chimney and associated brickwork, and all at a super price. We started with a leak and a panicked phone call to JMR, on a Saturday, just prior to John leaving for his honeymoon. Antonio was over in 45 minutes, tarped the offending area and John called us upon his return from his honeymoon to schedule the work.

We hadn't even hired them at that point, mind you - and their quick and kind response at an untimely and rain-soaked week was incredible. Thank you, JMR, for your hard work! Your crew is unparalleled!

I just bought a house and knew that the gutters and roof needed some work. My gutters were 30 years old and falling off the house, my chimney was rotting away, the gas heater exhaust had rusted apart, and some unknown animal had chewed several holes in the siding under the roof line. John and his crew made all of these problems go away quickly and for a very reasonable price.

I must have had six roofing contractors come out to my house to give me estimates, and John was the only one willing to take care of my entire roof and it's problems in a high quality and reasonably priced way. He takes pride in his work and treats your roof like it's his own. I can't recommend him highly enough for any roofing job, large or small.

After calling several places to repair my roof, I was very disappointed that no one either returned my calls, or follow up on an appointment. When I looked on Yelp and found John Michael's reviews I called them and even though the message said that they were very busy, I decided to give it a try and I am so happy that I did, because they were the ones who took me seriously, and they did a great job. We have a 6-year-old house that had a (flat) torch-down roof. It was poorly done, and we had several leaks. I had 4 different contractors out to bid the job, and after talking with all of them and looking at reviews, we decided to go with JMR. John was very patient as we spent over a year trying to get permits and costs for putting in a roof-top deck, only to find out that the costs of re-enforcing the roof, permits, and compliance ended up being way over our budget.

We finally decided on doing a PVC roof with a hatch for access, and within a month of making that decision we now have a great new roof. John was fantastic - understanding, quick to respond, and willing to work with us throughout the whole process. The final cost was very reasonable, and the quality of work is true to his ratings. There are a lot of roofing companies / contractors out there - it pays to find one that takes pride in their work and is willing to work with their customers. Highly recommended!

John was prompt with the quote and was competitive with pricing. We noticed a complicated roof nearby at one of our neighbors and they recommended a positive experience from start to finish. We experienced just that, the team got going and finished up our steep roof within a few days. Had no trouble through a record breaking month of rain.

I had a couple of jobs that needed to be done at my place including repairs to my skylight, chimney and roof. I was wary of having someone come into my place and make it worst than it was before. After using John's service the first time, I used his services again. One time however some mess was left after the job was done.

A first class job was performed on my new roof. When they were all complete the area around my house was scoured with a fine tooth comb during clean up. The place was spotless when they were done. Their price was also very competitive with the other quotes I received. John was personally on the job much of the time and was very personable and easy to deal with.

John and his crew were great! We had them do a new metal roof (even did a patch before the full roof when we sprung a leak), new skylights, and new gutters. Very pleased with the whole team and the quality of work. Highly recommend.

We selected John Michael Roofing after reading several reviews and collecting bids. The metal roof John Michael's team installed looks great and made huge energy improvements in our house. The workers were timely and respectful of our home during the job. We also had them install color matched gutters, which are great quality and were expertly installed as well. The best roofing company we've ever used!

I recently had the roof replaced on my home in Bellevue with new metal roofing. John Michael Roofing and Skylights did an exceptional job. John, the owner, personally came to inspect my old roof, showing us detailed pictures of damaged areas and explaining what our options were for a new roof. We were impressed by his professionalism. He and his crew were courteous and punctual.

We had an all around great experience with John Michael Roofing! John was easy to communicate with, prompt with all responses, thorough in his explanation of scope of work and material used. He offered a very competitive estimate for our complicated roof. John started work on schedule and finished ahead of schedule (which never happens). His crew were very friendly, worked extremely hard, and did a great job cleaning up at the end of every day.

They took extra care not to damage plants with construction debris and also went out of there way to protect our new driveway from the massive dumpster. The finished product looks great and John came by the day after they finished and took the time to walk around and chat about any concerns or questions we had. The warranty John offers was better than most other contractors we met with. We probably will not need a new roof in this home but if we move and need to reroof John will be the only contractor I call.

John fit us in and we are so pleased. Let me mention his crew. Every one of them was on point, working hard, asking questions so never assuming, and cleaned up as if the yard was brand new. I really wish I could give John Michael roofing a better review, but it's frustrating when you don't get a return phone call, especially when your roof is leaking into your bedroom. EDIT: John Michael did reached out to me 5 days after my review, not my initial request. I do want to be clear that this review is solely based on customer service, not the quality of their work, which appears to be stellar according to other reviews. Hopefully a system will be put into place to respond to requests and messages sooner, even if they are out of town.

John recently finished a beautiful roof on our Seattle/Bryant home. - very communicative on project updates, both before and during the project - clean up crew did a good job - explained the roofing system to me in detail. They fixed installation errors/missing insulation on the old roof as well. - top notch work. Edges etc look great. - did my gutters also! - reasonable price, not the cheapest (heck, with work like this he shouldnt be) and def not the most expensive, middle pack in pricing. - his crew were really friendly and fun! I strongly recommend John!

I can't say enough about how great an experience it was working with John. I just bought my house and the insurance company said it had to be re-roofed this year or they wouldn't renew it. I called up six roofers, only heard back from three - and the differences in attitude and prices of those three were pretty extreme! John could get started asap, seemed like a really genuine & honest guy, had a good price, and I strongly prefer supporting a local business, so I picked him. John's crew worked hard, cleaned up, and the foreman William walked up on the roof with me at the end to show the completed project. The roof looks awesome! I choose John Michael Roofing as the contractor for a new roof on our older Ravenna area home. I interviewed a number of contractors but I am quite happy I choose them. The estimator/salesman Don was very helpful and proviced a low key but very informative education as to what I was going to need and the best way to approach the project. I felt very comfortable with him and his approach to the job. Antonio and his crew were on time, courteous, and friendly. Antonio kept me infrormed as to what they were doing at each stage of the job.

He and his crew are very hard workers and they put in long hours to get the job done on time. I am very pleased with the results, the new roof looks great and I know that they will stand behind their work. I would certainly recommend them.

I am a single female who purchased a home in need of a new roof. I collected 3 quotes. What made John Michael's quote stand out was the thoroughness. I understood exactly what he was proposing and was very comfortable with the detailed services I could expect. It was important to stay within budget since this was a large investment for me and I have several new home improvement projects --- so I was a bit nervous.

We worked out the details and they got to work. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the new roof! While replacing the roof, they took photos of issues with the chimneys and provided an additional quote. The project was a challenging one: a large, tall, older house, with steep pitch, dormers etc. John Michael came in with a very competitive bid, which stood out in comparison to other bids. He was careful with costs in several practical ways which made a huge difference. There was no upselling and no added unnecessary costs or charges, which were waiting to happen with some other roofers. He did an amazing, quality job, was attentive to detail and great to work with through the whole process.

Putting all your faith in a contractor you don't know isn't the easiest thing to do, but I definitely lucked out by hooking up with John Michael. My composition-shingled roof had seen better days after a couple of decades of wear, and it was even letting in a little moisture in spots. I decided to bite the bullet and have the roof re-done.

I chose to go with cedar shakes because I love the look and I understand they do better job of insulating (and with heating getting more expensive every day.). I got a few different quotes, and they were all in the same ballpark, so I decided to go with Mr. Michaels because he had some positive reviews and his attitude just put me at ease. Sure enough, the job was done on deadline and at the cost he quoted. I would definitely recommend.

My dad wanted to surprise my mom with a skylight in the kitchen, but since he's getting up there in age, he asked me to help find a contractor to do the job. I heard about John through a great recommendation from one of my coworkers, which proved to be a very smart choice. John and his assistants were very professional, kept the site clean (and our kitchen accessible during the construction) and the final invoice ended up being below the initial bid.

He went over the best site for a skylight to let in the most sunlight, and helped my dad pick out the size and style. After the installation John took a look at the rest of the roof and found some rot, and recommended that it be replaced this summer. We will definitely be going with his company again for that project. Highly Recommended!

UPDATED: 1/12/2011 I received a call today from John, after he had read my previous review. He corrected me that the appointment I assumed he missed had never been confirmed, and I apologize for making that mistake. I confirmed it myself after checking my email archives. He also offered me a free chimney sweep to make up for any perceived lack of communication.

I offered to edit my review, and he said he appreciated that, as he gets a lot of his business from Yelp (which is where I discovered him, as well). I realize that people take Yelp reviews seriously. Previously, I had given John a two-star rating, because he was not up to my standards of prompt communication. I am an engineer and work in a company where it is important to give and receive communication as quickly, yet accurately, as possible in order to achieve our large amount of work.

Perhaps I maintain high standards, but the other contractors (particularly our electrician and floor refinishers) I have had on site have been able to maintain a very quick turnaround in returning phone calls and emails with pertinent information, in addition to fitting me in as quickly as possible and completing the job beyond my expectations. John did initially tell me that he was backed up a couple of weeks, and then he sustained an injury, so that added some lead time to project completion.

As it is winter, he also had to wait for a non-rainy day to complete the project. I also said in my previous review that John's quality of work was not the issue, and I stand by that. He fixed some chimney problems, and I believe he completed repairs as he stated in his estimate.
