I wanted to change the locks on my new home. At first, I deluded myself into thinking I could just buy a kit at Home Depot and rekey myself. I spent entirely too much time and effort researching and shopping when what I SHOULD have done is call these folks. I was out within 20 minutes for under $60 with a newly rekeyed lock. Absolute recommend!

Door locks stopped responding to my key and I was able to get a first timeslot in the morning appointment. I thought that I'd need to get the door locks re-keyed or replaced, but Shawn from Locksmith was able to troubleshoot and fix all the issues. Very professional, saved me money, highly recommend.

Needed the lock replaced for my condo's mailbox. I contacted them on a Monday, gave them the information they needed Monday night, and they were able to come over Tuesday at 9:00 AM (texting me late into the night to schedule it). Very timely, which was very nice. They ended up having to give me a more expensive lock, but they discounted it to the price of the original quote, so that was great. Good to work with.

We dealt with Roy. Our garage door bent and broke and was frozen in place. KeyedIn had installed it so we called them. Roy came out and gave us an estimate to replace it. There's a mural on it so we wanted to save it. It was a lot more work for them and he was clear that he might not be able to save it. But they ordered some additional parts and then went to work pulling it apart, unbending it, cutting off random pieces of metal and otherwise working with this huge sheet of metal until it worked. Which it still does. I appreciated the effort they put into the work. Overall a good experience.

Roy and his team are outstanding. We've had him out several times for different issues. He installed specialty locks and helped us out in a jam when we our dog-sitter was locked out of the house due to a faulty lock. These are the kinds of folks you hope you never need to call, but are happy to find a company with this quality and reliability when you really need them.

Unfortunately I do not believe the company is of the same merit as it had in the past. I used a Groupon to purchase their services to install a lock that I had bought previously. I called and scheduled an appointment and advised of the Groupon purchase per the instructions. The groupon was for $80 worth of services (I paid about $30 for it). The technician came and told me he wasn't aware of a Groupon and that to install the lock the best option would be a "home installation, " which would be another $90 out of pocket all of a sudden.
I inquired to see if there were any other options since it wasn't a brand new installation, but he said he really wouldn't make a difference. He was in and out in 15 minutes and advised the labor came with a warranty (i was told lifetime). Since September the lock has now become loose and the door consistently jams. I called back to see if they can come out.
They are advising it will be an additional service charge to come out and that customer parts aren't covered by warranty. Even if it was, per my receipt it's saying a 90 day warranty, as the gentleman over the phone recently pointed out. Bottom line, if you have to use them please ask for the price in advance and what it all includes. Due to their misrepresentation I will have to call my bank.

I give them all the information about the lock I want to install. Before they gave me a quote, we ask for all my personal information like address, email, phone. etc then they signed me up for their email Community thing without my consent. when I contacted them they asked me to unsubscribe. This might not be a big thing. But for me I found this deceptive. If you can deceive in small things then you should can deceive in big things.

We have used Keyed numerous times. Latest two times Roy installed a door lock on our sliding glass door. It was a simple as sending a photo of a our door and a few days later he installed a new locking sliding glass door on our back deck in about 10 minutes. Last week one of our tenants was accidentally locked out, I called Keyed Inn and they had the door open in about 15 mins from the time I called. They are very fast and responsive and have excellent customer service.

I bought a a commercial high security lock for my property in 2015. I bought maybe 10 keys at $15 each on top of the $500+ cost of the lock. Within 2.5 years of use the insides of the lock has warpped and it goes all the way around. (The inside of a lock should catch to lock and unlock, it doesn't catch) I called to see if they would come out to look at the lock being that it was supposed to be of commercial quality.
Pretty much they wanted to charge me to come out an look at the lock said I would have to buy another. I could've went to home depot for all of this. BEWARE. Don't waste your money. They have groupings for a reason.

I cannot recommend Roy and Keyed In, LLC enough. We locked ourselves out of our house on a Sunday afternoon with Redskins tickets on our fridge! We called Keyed In, LLC and Roy was over in a flash. Before I knew it, he had the door opened, the lock and doorknob replaced, and he was even caulking over a small screw hole from the old fixture to correct the cosmetics. This guy is seriously the best and we made it to the game for the second quarter to see the Redskins win. Highly recommended - best ever!

Shay was a lifesaver. We were locked out of our condo due to a faulty door handle lock. He managed to arrive at our condo within an hour of being called on a Saturday night. He got us into the unit within 10 minutes. Then he replaced the handle on the spot in another 5 minutes. The whole experience was incredibly pleasant and quick. Thank you Shay for making such a terrible experience into a much better situation.

A saferoom door deadbolt lock was installed. The locksmith selected the lock capable of providing maximum protection, installed it masterfully, and removed all evidence of debris. He did this within a half hour with the utmost professionalism. Outstanding experience. I would strongly recommend this locksmith and will use him again.

We just had our front door's lock redone by another locksmith, and now that I understand the lock system better, I understand how much we were screwed by these guys! Three and a half years ago we had a break-in and since the robber took our back door key, we needed to have the lock rekeyed. We found this company Keyedin in Angie's list with a high rating, so trusted it and called them for the work.
All we needed was rekeying, which, now I understand, should not cost much - maybe $150 at most even in DC. But we ended up paying $471.61 - why? They changed the mechanism as well, which was totally unnecessary! We just needed rekeying! And the mechanism, for which they charged $345 costs less than a third or a fourth of that at a store. In addition, the technician who came took literally hours installing the mechanism which wasn't necessary to begin with.
We had other issues. The main guy looked at our front door, too, and insisted that we needed to change the mechanism there, too. He even tried to sell us the knobs even though we have leversets which we like better, as knobs were all he had. In addition, after he looked at the front door locks, our leverset no longer opened the door! To his credit, he did come back to fix it when I complained about it. Beware of these guys. They take advantage of your ignorance and do work that is unnecessary and charge you a whole lot for them!

I'm the owner of Nest DC, a boutique property management company working in DC proper and Keyed-In has been our "Go to" vendor for 7 years. From emergency locksmith services to sophisticated entry systems, keyed-in has capacity and expertise to professionally tackle every job. Their team is approachable, intelligent and excellent with communications.
They are great over email, fast to respond and very good with their paperwork, invoicing and estimation. And the customer service is top notch. Can't recommend them highly enough and we have the highest possible standards.

I am really surprised by all of the good reviews for this company. I bought a Groupon to have a lock either re-keyed or replaced at my condo. I was shocked when I received a quote of around $465. I could replace a whole door for that price. I don't know if he thought because I am woman that he could get over on me but I work in real estate and construction, I know a little about material costs.
The company offers a "free estimate" but the estimate is no longer free if you use their services. If you decide to use their services they charge a $45 service fee even though they are already there giving you a "free estimate." Shouldn't it be the other way around? Most of the companies I have dealt with charge a fee to come out and waive the fee if you use their services.
The gentleman I spoke with was extremely rude and very unprofessional. He even yelled at me about how he spent his time and money to come to my unit. I politely told him that I would not be needing his services. I went to Home Depot, found the exact same lock I had on my door for $17 and replaced it myself in less than 10 minutes. I could understand the high price if he had to drill holes in the door but the lock I found fit perfectly and works perfectly.
I have no problem with paying for professional work that I cannot complete myself. I also have no problem with you charging for your time and installation with a 20-50% markup on materials, I get it you have to make a profit. However, charging over $400 for a lock I can get at Home Depot for $17 is just robbery. I suggest you go with another company that is honest and isn't trying to rip you off or do it yourself.

When I called, at first that they couldn't get to me right away but then they told me to hold on while they try to fit me in ASAP. That's over-and-above the call right there. The first place I called didn't do that. They must have found a hole in their schedule as they were able to get to me within 90 minutes of my call. Niiice. The tech (it was Shay, the owner) explained the options well, was proficient and expedient in getting it completed, swept up afterwards, and even adjusted the striking plates which had become misaligned over time; which wasn't part of the job.
The only downside was the arm and the leg it cost! Worth it, though, for good work and peace of mind. I'll also mention that they offered a discount for my membership at Angie's List. I'd recommend KeyedIn, no problem. Keep it up, Shay.

I bought a new condo recently and needed a few things done with the locks. I wanted to get a new lock, to re-key a deadbolt, and to determine why my door was not closing properly. I did some research and Keyed In had good reviews as well as more reasonable prices than other companies. I called Keyed In and someone answered the phone quickly. They were very flexible and scheduled me for a time that was convenient for me. Leo, the locksmith, arrived exactly when the representative said he would arrive; he also called to tell me when he was about 15 minutes away.
He was friendly, efficient, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He explained a number of options that were available to me. After he finished his work, he let me test out the locks and turn the keys to make sure that I was completely satisfied with them before he left. In short, his service was impeccable. I highly recommend Keyed In and would not hesitate to call them again.

I had a great experience with Keyed In LLC. After I stupidly locked my keys in my running car, I needed quick, efficient help, which Keyed In provided. My call was answered immediately (instead of a long wait on the phone with other locksmith services) and I was provided with quick, clear information. Keyed In also has a flat rate for opening the car, which is much better than other companies who equivocate about quotes and then surprise you with extra fees. Shay arrived at my house in less than 10 minutes, and from start to finish the whole process was completed in less than 10 minutes as well. Shay was friendly, professional, and patient with my worries.
Overall a great experience which made an otherwise crappy situation less stressful. My only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I was mistakenly sent an invoice for another job. I would definitely still recommend Keyed In LLC's services.

My husband and I just bought a new, old house (how's that for an oxymoron!) that has lots of old doors with old keys and old locks. We needed a professional to help us with all that that entails, and Keyed In was a great choice for us. They were prompt in their replies to our inquiry, on time for our appointment, and explained well all the options available to us.
We ended up having a handful of locks replaced, deadbolts added, as well as an electric garage door opener installed (my fave!) Everything was done quickly, well, and without hassle. With so many home improvement projects to do in a new (old) house, I was so happy that Keyed In handled one of them with such ease and no stress on my part.

I didn't get a quote beforehand, so I had no issue with prices changing. The tech spent easily 20 minutes running different price quotes and options. I settled in on a 5 lock replacement (the bottom locks were too poor quality to rekey) with the 15% service alley discount. The tech came out in under 20 mins on a Sunday night around 1030, and he was done in about 30 minutes.
The price was high (around $530), but I felt the work was done well and considering the late hour and short notice need (and the fact that I wasn't paying for it), I didn't mind at al. I'd probably shop around a bit the next time.

They did their job I suppose, but they have lots of hidden fees and ended up charging me an arm and a leg for 5 minutes of work. They also bring up a 1000 times a 15% discount that you get if you use them again or if you refer them. I felt like I was being harassed by a gypsy and got fleeced in the process. Nevertheless, they conclusively did change the lock - just for far more than I was initially quoted.
