Irish Iron

If I could give this company zero stars I would. The owner Bill is infuriating to work with, not only is he disrespectful, but he is unprofessional, and an all around nasty human being. I would never use his business again and if you are looking to get anything done in a good time frame I would DEFINETLY look somewhere else. Horrible Horrible Service.

Signed contract in October 2021 and expressed that we are under siege by the unhoused and one person was fixated on burning us down. The urgency of our need fell on deaf ears. Months passed. When I would email Bill at Irish Iron for an update on the status of our fence/gate, he basically told me to stop asking, his suppliers get mad if he asks for updates.

In February Bill said his suppliers dropped the ball and our fence/gate wasn't even started yet. When the fence/gate was finally installed on 3/30, the guy installing the fence/gate was very concerned about getting paid and acted as if I was lying when I kept saying we had been paid in full since December. They installed a code lock on the exterior and interior of the gate.

Evening of 3/31, people started to notice the exterior lock was already not functional and any trespasser person could still walk right in but needs the code to get out! When I emailed Bill, twice, telling him that we have been paid in full since December. He replied saying send the final payment when I can. I had to ask him if I need to provide the day the check cleared or account before he realized to stop asking me for final payment.

My 6 months of begging for a gate that we paid $8k for has been a nightmare. In my years of property management, I have encountered no contractor as rude and disorganized as Bill at Irish Iron, which is saying a lot given the number of contractors I have worked with. I have no faith Irish Iron will appear to fix the lock on the exterior of the gate.

Beautiful gate, doesn't keep trespassers out, just in. 4/5 we had to remove the defective lock Irish Iron put on the gate and of course they will not refund the cost of the lock. Proceed with Irish Iron at your own peril.

We had a driveway gate and walkway gate installed and designed by Irish Iron in January 2020. The kind of work they do is unique and no one else in the area that we contacted could make our vision become a reality. Our gates are a work of art and we plan to have a courtyard fence and gates built by them in the coming months. Definitely satisfied with the quality and design of their work and look forward to working with them again.

I believe Irish Iron is a great company to work with. Their price has been really affordable for me and their workmanship is excellent. Recently Irish Iron constructed steel fencing and solar motorized driveway gate. They did some adjustments as I suggested during construction without any dispute. Overall the work was done on time and to my satisfaction. Thank you Bill.

I recently called to get a quote on a iron spiral staircase for my outdoor patio. The owner called me back only to berate me as I was calling to get a second bid on a company that is out of state. He told me that he did not want me to waste his time as he has 100 other jobs to do. Needless to say, He is too busy right now, yet his customer service on the phone raises the question of the integrity, quality and service that a customer is to receive with working with his business. Good for him that he is busy now. He is doing just enough to be average, and not exceptional.

We could not be happier with the new railing added to our home. It was a great price, well made and installed very professionally. I searched for 6 months and was so happy when we found Irish Iron.

As one reviewer stated, I too wish I had read the reviews on Yelp before signing their contact. I went with them based on the recommendation of a professional that we trust, but it was definitely a mistake. I would not recommend them at all. We needed some rails added to our yard and although the contract had a two-month end date, it took well over 6 months for Irish Iron to complete it.

The workmanship is good, but there was miscommunication between the estimator and the shop that caused one section to be completely wrong. The result was that we paid for their mistake. The owner, Bill Irish, was so rude and condescending each time I spoke to him that I finally had my husband deal with him because I couldn't.

Irish Iron created a beautiful custom living fence for our garden/patio area. They delivered exactly what we wanted and are extremely pleases with the craftsmanship and look of our fence and gate. It was a pleasure working with the entire team at Irish Iron.

Had Irish iron out about a month ago for an estimate on a 17 foot long 6 foot high black iron fence with door. They took measurements we discussed what I wanted they said they get me an estimate back in two days at the latest. It is now been over a month. I did make contact one time with a person who said that they order in bulk and when they put an order in they can get a better deal. I thought since it was a small job someone could knock it out pretty quick but not Irish iron.

I needed to have support bars installed into my family room, but I didn't want to go with the standard looking ones you find at Home Depot. I gave a rough drawing to the guys of what I wanted and they gave me exactly what I wanted. I'm very pleased.

I had a really hard time choosing a company to help install my new metal gate. I'm so glad I decided to work with Irish Iron. The customer service was great, but the build quality and design is AMAZING!

We could not be happier with how our gate turned out. The detail is amazing. Quality you can feel. We get so many compliments. The added peace of mind, knowing our entryway is secure is fantastic. Will not make this mistake again! Spent over 4K. They did not listen to what We wanted. The gate is not functional and is not up to code. Will have to replace it and my 4K is in the toilet. Also worst customer service!

Excellent work and an estately result. I had two railings that Irish Iron fabricated and installed. One of the rails was a very complex curve + reverse curve on a helical bend. The rail is gorgeous. Irish also fabricated a safety rail (multiple bends) along a retaining wall. All work completed for home in Marin County. Excellent.

This is our 3rd project with Bill Hill at Irish Iron. The black powder coat has lasted for many years. His crew just installed a custom-made ornamental fence in the side yard that complements our landscaping. Spring/Summer is a very busy time for such jobs, and it took about an 8 week process from our first meeting to installation. He has no office help, so it will take a few days for Bill to return your call. He and his employees pay attention to detail, are creative and offer great suggestions.

Bizarre events. I started calling last July to have broken pool gate at our apartment complex removed and replaced with iron fencing matching the rest of the enclosure. July 30th I sent Bill a 10% deposit and he emailed that he would schedule job when he received check. I faxed Bill a copy of a demand from the Sacramento Pool Inspector to have it done within 30 days.

He stated this was a custom job. Never heard from him again. Last week, second week in October I had another independent iron professional come out. Said it was all standard stock rod iron and did the job in 11/2 days. I called Bill today to ask for my deposit and he said he was planning on installing tomorrow and now he would sue me. Go figure.?

Irish Iron is the best place to go for handrails, gates, fences, and any iron work in Sacramento, Carmichael, or Roseville.

I wish I had read the reviews before entering into a contract with Irish Iron. I saw his work at a home show and thought the design would be perfect for my new backyard. Everything started off fine, someone came and took measurements, etc. and the end product was ok, although not exactly how I wanted it. But everything in the middle was horrible. Communicating with Bill was very frustrating and always a struggle.

He would tell me I was wrong if I didn't use the words that he wanted. He would tell me he made the gate a certain way because that's what I told him, even though it was the opposite. I would have left but I signed a contract. HE WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING TO WORK WITH AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM.

BEAUTIFUL Gates. I recommend you go to the office to see the product that you have them design. Because I didn't do this I was a little anxious. I did everything on-line after they came to my house and took measurements and I am fully satisfied with the gates. I also appreciated the men who installed the gates. They were efficient and receptive to my questions and comments.

Called to get an estimate, they came on time and took measurements. From the pictures he showed me I showed him what I was looking for. He then told me I would be hearing from them in about three days. Over two weeks later, nothing! I called and asked what had happened. I was told that they would look into it and get right back to me. A few days later nothing. If there this bad with a simple estimate for a gate I hate to see how long it would take to get the project completed!

I scheduled a day for my repair and Bill did not come - said he didn't know about the apt. He told me that he would come the next day, and then told me that I would have to pay over-time because my job would need to be squeezed in at the end of the day. He then proceeded to overcharge me. He charged double travel time and then wanted to charge an additional hour (in additional to travel).

For three hours work, he charged $700. 1 hour of the 3 hours of labor was spent at Home Depot finding hardware. I have worked with many contractors and Irish Iron is that absolute worst. I would have stayed away because of the reviews, but he was the contractor used by the pool fencing company we used.

I have one word about Bill the owner -IDIOT-. Bill botched up the whole job. His company did a lot of stupid things on all my gates it would be too long to list. Yes gates, there were more than one. Screwed it all up. I am the stupid one, I should have listened to the other Yelp reviewers. They were all telling the truth about Bill. Buyer beware! From now on I will NOT hire a contractor if he or she gets a single bad review!

We drove to their manufacturing center to make our request in person. It was important to ensure it was communicated and understood. Service was great and all our questions were answered, estimated date of completion and installation were set. It was installed on time and was exactly what we wanted. Our experience, with all Irish Iron personnel, through it all was very professional. We would recommended them to our friends. It's nice to work with a group of people who just get it right and without worry!

Bill's prices are very competitive. However, Bill is not so honest. I did not challenge him on them because I wanted him to finish the work. For one, he missed something regarding my gate, but he stated it was not in the contract. He wanted to charge me another $100.00 for the item he missed. Initially, I went over everything with the estimator, but Bill would not show me the estimator's notes or photos. I ended up paying the $100.00 because I did not want to escalate the issue.

Since this gate is the first thing that people will see of my home, it is very important to me that such a prominent structure make a statement of beauty and strength. Irish Iron did a great job on a complicated spiral staircase railing as well as many other iron pieces throughout the interior and exterior of the home.

We have just completed almost a year long effort at the total exterior renovation of our house, including removing a very large old redwood decking and replacing it with man made timber. Our original deck had wood railing. For our new deck and new Mediterranean look we wanted iron railing. Irish Iron was the only bid we got.

I have worked with this company twice to install custom railing in our yard in Auburn. I described what I was looking for and they created the most beautiful, unique hand rails that look nautical yet elegant. I called Irish Irion a second time after a remodel on our home and he did all of the handrails on the exterior decking. It is holding up great and again looks fantastic. The work was performed in a reasonable time and I felt the pricing was fair. I would highly recommend using Irish Iron.

We really enjoyed doing business with Irish Iron. They came out promptly to give us an estimate for a wrought iron gate in front of our front door. We agreed to have the work performed and scheduled a date for the installation. The day of the install, they called us ahead of time to let us know approximately when they would be at our home. When I read the negative comments about Irish Iron on Yelp, I was turned off to do business with them. But I decided to go to their showroom. I looked at the workers behind the scene and interviewed them- they really know their craft. They do a good job. I got along with the owner Bill, I would say that he doesn't have a "perfect" public relations skill, but he was not rude or mean to me.

I was not there to evaluate his personality but I needed someone who can deliver an excellent spiral stairs of quality. They made me a spiral stairs that met my expectations. I'm very happy with the finished product, price is competitive but it's worth it. Excellent job and I would highly recommend them to everyone. I will do business with them again in the future. Glad I gave them the benefit of a doubt. I had a very positive experience with them. :

The craftsmanship of the Irish Iron team is absolutely outstanding. We are very pleased with the stair railings we had done, one of which was the front entrance. it makes a real statement and is very solid. I would likely be a return customer. The 'planning' side of the project was a little goofy. It took too long to connect with someone to design and plan the project.

We were told the project would take 3 weeks but the installers showed up a week later unannounced with our railings. huh? We were disappointed that the installers used spray paint to touch up installation scratches on the otherwise nice powder coat finish. Again, just too bad when the product as delivered was perfectly beautiful and the blemish will last forever. Lastly, don't expect any great bargain. they are probably competitively priced but they are expensive.

We had a custom iron gate made and it's quite simply spectacular. We get complements about it from all of our neighbors and we absolutely love it! If my gate was a man I'd hit on him

First off, the overall fence looks great & initially when we had it installed the work was done quickly and on time. However, now there are issues with the fence. The fence was attached to our wood fencing around our backyard and it's breaking the wood fencing. The iron fence is too heavy to be attached to a wood fence. I've called countless times to have them repair and make the fence freestanding.

I even said I'm willing to pay them to fix it the way it should have been installed to begin with. Back when we were paying $6,000 + for our fence Bill at Irish Iron called back & took care of any issue.now they won't return a single call. Finally, this is a rod iron pool safety fence and it's clearly NOT safe if it is breaking apart from the wood fence. I guess the bottom line is Irish Iron will be there when you're paying thousands of dollars but once they're gone, they're gone!

We are so pleased with the custom gate that Irish Iron designed and installed! Bill and his team were so professional and fun to work with. From the first appointment to the install they were on time and kept me informed with the progress of the project. Our porch was not perfectly level but they took their time and made the necessary modifications to make for a perfect fit!
