Indoor Air Quality
Report
Complete home comfort is about more than just temperature-it's also about maintaining a healthy home with indoor air quality. Dusty, dirty homes at any temperature can mean discomfort. The air in today's tightly-sealed, well-insulated homes can become stale as the same indoor air is circulated and re-circulated.

My house only had an 80-year old floor furnace (and no AC capability) so I wanted a complete HVAC upgrade. My friends recommended Sandium. Ended up having them install an efficient Carrier heat pump (Infinity 24), attic air handler, and all new attic ductwork. Marcos, Carlos, & Pat did a really solid and thorough installation job (HERS leakage numbers are almost negligible).
And the company was very responsive in sending Martin to correct some issues afterwards. Mike (the estimator & co-owner) is a no-nonsense, no-pressure engineer kind of guy who laid out different approaches/costs and then left it for me to decide. That was a little confusing at first as I was more used to salesmany types who tried to sense what I wanted/needed and then guide me toward that. So I had to do my research. But I ended up with a solid system that I understand better.

Outstanding service. I needed service a sap to get air conditioner working and new Nest Thermostat installed. Contracor came out and checked the AC, corrected our incorrect Nest assembly and installed it so that it works. He was fast and very friendly, just couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. He also called to say due to traffic he would be 20 minutes delayed, which was really considerate.

Nik Morokutti is one of the most capable and honest people I have ever worked with. Nik helped us provisioned and built Air Source Heat Pump system for heating and cooling in our Palo Alto house. He answered tons of detailed questions from us and carried out the work professionally. We are extremely happy with the result. Nik and his people went beyond our wildest expectations. He is our model of an engineer (and we know a lot of engineers!)

Tyler was our first point of in person contact with this company and we love him, just ask my dogs who get super excited to see him when he comes. We had a big job to do and decided to start with the split system in our Great room. Unfortunately we couldn't find a solution to add the extension into the existing system. After much discussion the unit Tyler came up with is excellent.
Our very large 600 square feet room with gable ceilings and full summer sun from dawn to dusk stayed wonderfully cool over this really hot summer we just had. We are looking forward to putting the heating side of this unit to work this winter. We were so impressed with the quality of work that we have now scheduled the second part and much larger job of replacing the duct work and current furnace with a furnace air condition for the rest of the house.
The actual people who did the installation we very efficient and polite. Did a great job of installing everything and taking their mess away. Cleaning my yard up where they put the unit was excellent. Can't say enough great things about these guys!

I highly recommend Sandium for A/C work. When shopping for A/C installation two years ago for my new home, I talked to three different A/C specialists. Sandium stood head and shoulders above the other service providers I spoke to. Nik was the lead pre-sales consultant. He was incredibly professional, timely, excellent at answering all of my questions.
He did a thorough on-site inspection before and helped make an excellent recommendation on the specific unit to install in my house. We wanted to make sure we had a unit that would run efficiently and quietly, but we also have a very small patio area in which to place the fan/condenser outside the house. He explained that unit would cost a bit more, but we'd probably be happy with it.
And he's right. When our neighbor's A/C is running at the same time, it's louder than ours when we're standing right next to it. The labor costs were just a bit more expensive than two other service providers I also shopped, but the service, thoroughness and professionalism were well worth it. I was confident that Sandium would do great work, and they did.
One thing I really appreciated with Nik's insistence that the builder of our house provide us with the duct leakage test results before doing the A/C installation. He didn't want to charge us to do it if it wasn't needed, but he said it would save us a lot of money if we were sure the ducts were well sealed before we went forward with the installation.
He explained that most builders in new home developments only sample test a few homes but variances can be large from home to home. The builder eventually provided us home-specific the records to show that we were within normal leakage allowances. On the day of installation, the technician showed up on time, explained everything he was doing, did thorough testing, and was very respectful.
He wore shoe covers whenever he needed to come in the house. Everything went smoothly with the installation. During testing, it was discovered that a fuse would need to be upgraded to 30 amps to handle the load of our AC unit. They didn't have one in the truck, but came back the very next day and replaced it, tested it thoroughly, and without any additional charge. Sandium also saved me money a few months after the A/C was installed when we decided to have paver stones installed in our patio.
The paver stone vendor had said that we'd need to have the A/C unit removed and reinstalled for them to do the work. I called Sandium to ask them to do the work, and they said, "No, let me talk to the contractor you're working with. We shouldn't have to do that." They spoke to the paver stone contractor and, sure enough, the paver guys agreed that they could work around the unit and still do a good job.
And they did. Sandium saved us $500-600 of labor with that phone call. I'm not sure that another A/C company would have said no to the opportunity for a $500-600 job. I can't recommend these guys enough.

Sandium installed AC in our new house. I worked with Tyler for this job. They installed two units (one for each floor) and the house was already pre-wired with forced air. They did a great job customizing units that would work for our house. The install went well and the team did a good job cleaning up afterwards. Everything works great and they scheduled permits as well!
They also didn't charge me for a little extra work that they did installing some dampers. Overall, we were very satisfied with the job. Also, in our old house, Sandium serviced our furnace / AC for about 3-4 years. They fixed a leak that was causing coolant to leak one time. They performed regular service and always did a good job. Also, there was once incident where another company tried to get us to replace something with the furnace and said it wasn't working.
This company actually unplugged the ignition thing so the furnace wouldn't turn on. Then this company claimed our coils needed to be replaced and were trying to charge us over $6,000. We got Sandium to give a second opinion. Sandium told us the coils were fine, and they re-hooked up the ignition thing so the furnace would turn on and told us not to replace anything.
They said the coils would be good for another few years at least. So bottom line, Sandium is trustworthy and does a good job. Be careful who you hire because not all companies are honest.
