I don't typically write reviews. But Discount Mechanical has been so fabulous to work with, I would feel guilty if I didn't give a much deserved applause! I have an older home that has had 3 separate plumbing or heating issues recently. Each service man that came has been professional and helpful! They went above and beyond to explain the needed service/repair and were able to complete the work same day. AND the schedulers/staff on the phone lines have been responsive and courteous. So pleasant and professional, they arrive when they say they will and work quickly and efficiently. I love that they take time to talk to you and explain everything that you want to know about your equipment and the issues. I've read the recent bad reviews. With any larger company there are bound to be some bad experiences. I had an issue with a shower valve in my 4plex. Nonetheless I had 9pm after hours visit to diagnose the problem and at least stop the leak providing all tenant access to water. Issue was fixed the next day. So for an emergency fix that was completed within 48hours, the job was superlative. Nate was also great to chat with and kept me up to speed while I continued about my day. Job well done.

Don't recommend. I will not be using Discount Mechanical again in the future. Very poor communication throughout and unsatisfactory experience in general over multiple visits. They missed two scheduled appointments and rescheduled a third due to staffing issues or people being stuck on other jobs. The first call out was unhelpful and did not address the intermittent problem I was having with my garage heater.
They were able to diagnose the issue on a separate second visit, but it wasn't ideal to have to pay for multiple call outs. I even had a third appointment scheduled and had prepaid a 50% deposit for them to actually replace the bad part but they were not able to make it during the scheduled service window. In the end, I wound up buying the part and replaced it myself.
I missed many hours from my job to be home and available for them to ultimately not be respectful of my time by not showing up and/or rescheduling last minute. It was good they were able to diagnose the issue so I did know exactly which part needed replaced, but its not a good sign that in the end replacing it myself seemed like the most convenient option.
It's weird times right now, so I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but in this case, it was just one thing after another. Makes it seem like more organizational issues than just being busy or having people out sick.

I called Discount Mechanical for help when my Furnace wouldn't stay on and they came out the same day and was able to fix my issue in under an hour for less than $200 bucks. Super happy with their work and responsiveness. Would definitely recommend and plan to use again in the future. If you're looking for furnace help in Anchorage, look no further.

This company, and in particular Kirk the Service Tech, was wonderful during a time of need. Unfortunately my furnace failed during one of the state's frigid stretches. Kirk came after hours, having already worked a 14 hour shift. Professional, courteous and knowledgeable, I was grateful for his expertise and work. I already scheduled my next service. I would wholeheartedly recommend this business and will be using them in the future. Thank you very much!

The technician who came to do preventative inspection and cleaning ($129.95) of a furnace at my rental said draft induction motor noise and fan motor vibration was "normal" which it was not. Renter and I both heard him say it. The furnace failed three days later on a weekend, at night in the cold on 11/20/21. I spent from 8:00pm until 4:00am calling the answering service who was supposed to get emergency technician out.
After several tries (them saying they had sent my info to tech and to call back in an hour if I hadn't heard from him) through the night, they quit answering my calls. I never heard from the technician. I got another company to do a Sunday morning call out ($350) diagnose the problem. My renters were able to keep the temperature up with electric heaters until problem was resolved. Discount Mechanical has not contacted me after telling me they were looking into the problem.
The technician was either totally unqualified to be there doing any inspection or he flat out lied when he said the noise/vibration was normal. The $129.95 should have diagnosed what needed to be done so that my rental could have heat right away, not put my tenants in the cold unnecessarily.

I encountered this business as I was driving by. I saw a lady protesting this business because they had taken her money and not delivered on fixing her heater. I took a picture of her and after talking to her I believed that they were taking advantage of her. I personally saw the management come outside to talk to her protesting in -10° weather.
They promised that they would get back to her and it's been three weeks now of constant calling and getting the runaround. I kept in touch with the protester to support her claim that this business can use more integrity in the repairs and customer service they provide. They are not true to thier word and that is quite troubling.

Ramon did an awesome job installing a vent in my bathroom. The result is clean, presentable and it functions! I was connected to Discount Mechanical by way of a local program. They have analyzed my heating system made recommendations and completed the fan install. We've been having issues with our water heater. Haven't had hot water in over a week. Peter the technician that came out was amazing! He was very thorough and explained the whole process. He made sure to properly replace everything that was wrong. We need more technicians like him to help out the community! Now our hot water is up and running! Scott came by today and fixed our gas leak, that we unknowingly have had for 3 years! After it was fixed and he left out the door, he came back to offer to relight my hot water heaters for me. He could have been done with the job, but he took the time to do something helpful that he didn't have to do.
