Bridgetown Electric is a trusted full-service electrical contractor serving the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan area and Washington since 1994. We started off when Keith Steenslid bought a truck, filled it with tools, and began his electrical contracting business in 1994. As the demand for his careful and experienced work grew, so did our business.
Keith has since retired and his sons, Tyler and Travis, have taken over the business. We are proud to be a second generation family-owned and operated business. We have managed to retain many of our customers by relying on the quality of our workmanship to generate referrals and repeat business.

We spent thousands of dollars with this company. They were okay until they weren't. We replaced, upgraded and installed new electrical all over the house in over a couple of phases. The first phase went well enough until that tech left some work not quite finished but since we were using them for multiple phases didn't think it was an issue. That tech was no longer available by the time we went to the next phase.
The new tech was sent to complete existing unfinished work and some new work. Even with a detailed explanation and "tour" of where the first tech left off we ended up with issues. Some examples, incorrect wiring connections that my husband to explain a couple of times, a light that worked before his work and then not after, and an outlet that didn't have enough power to run a lamp.
We called several times to have it all resolved and eventually it was fixed. However, we were also charged for work we had already paid for as part of the overall project and the tech fixing his own mistakes. After going around in circles they basically took the position that the tech made notes and the work was "new" from the tech's notes (that's convenient).
Despite our best efforts to show previous paperwork and explain the differences they just kept sending the full bill and saying they would look into it. Eventually, we paid the invoice which in the big picture wasn't that much just to not have a bill floating in the universe. They get 2 stars because the first tech was solid. The rest is average/below average.
We didn't change companies because the permits were already out and no one is going to warranty work by another company. If your going to use them limit it to work that can be completed beginning to end in the same visit and get a copy of the what was done insisting on explicit details. I would not choose again them for a larger ongoing project.

I called Bridgetown Electric to get a quote for the cost of replacing a light switch. I was told that it would take about 20-30 min and that the electrician would provide me a quote before dong any work. The electrician came. Sat and fumbled with my switch and I asked how much it would cost. The electrician told me that I needed to have my house rewired and that he couldn't do it because he needed more parts.
He said he would call me the next day. He left. Two days went by with no response. So I called Bridgetown Electric to see what was going on. The person I spoke too cussed me out on the phone. Said that they would never do something like that and then he hung up on me. So I called a different electrical company, who came out and had the whole switch fixed within 25 min! no rewiring.
Then I get a bill from Bridgetown Electric for $210! Even though no work was done. It is a bill for parts (that I did not order nor ask to be ordered!). The bill from Bridgetown Electric was more than the bill from the other provider (who actually fixed the issue)! I have called Bridgetown Electric three times to get this resolved! No response. Their answering machine doesn't even go to their machine because it is full.
What a way to run a business. I will be filing with the BBB and leaving this review on every site until I get a response and resolution from Bridgetown Electric. I will not be paying them for no services rendered. What a fraudulent company.

Avoid at all costs. I am left with a RUINED bathroom floor, a new light that worked for two weeks and then quit, and a exhaust fan that I'm not confident was installed properly. It's been one month and Bridgetown has ignored all of my calls and emails. And yes, I have the correct email address for them. Unprofessional, unreliable, terrible customer service.

They worked on the electric for both sides of the duplex my brother and I were remodeling. Got us on the schedule very fast and were out to see the property and start repairs within a week. Bumped a star off because the electrician had to come back to fix some items and they tried to charge us for that time. They were responsive and helpful, after explaining what happened they took the time he spent to fix the mistake off the bill. Overall they got the job done within our timeframe

Buying your first home is stressful. Add to that stress needing repairs completed (to your satisfaction) as a condition of the sale, and not being in the home to see what the hell is going on. Bridgetown Electric made this awkward situation a breeze. Any extra questions or concerns I had (there were many- as I'm knew this homeowner business, and know nothing about electrical stuff) were quickly investigated and resolved.
The terrifying 1950's panel of doom with a janky sub panel attached are GONE! In its place -a beautiful, safe, new set up, with clear labeling. Did I mention that they were the lowest bid? Thanks guys, you're who I'll call for future electrical needs, and you'll be recommend to friends and family.

Good company to work with, very approachable. I've called on them three times now to undo some messed up wiring that our previous homeowner created. They've also come out day of and after hours to do some emergency electrical work for our tenants who were without lights, and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg. Awesome business to work with and great employees.

Jerks! All I can say is these guys are jerks. I can't comment on how well these guys even do electrical work because I was never able to even get to that point! I would have loved to be able to support a local St. John's business. I was excited to see the building they occupy on Lombard getting spiffed up and remodelled since it was an eyesore before.
But frankly, with their attitude, I don't know how they even have enough business to afford the remodel! Here's my story: It was easy enough to arrange an appointment for a relatively minor issue I had with some kitchen lighting wiring. We agreed over the phone that they would call me about a half an hour before they were to arrive on the day of the appointment so I could leave work and meet them there. Everything's fine up to this point.
The appointment day arrives, the approximate time period they were shooting for arrives. and two hours later I still haven't received a call. I call their main office. The guy who I was talking to said they called me and left a voice mail. I said I didn't receive any calls, but who knows with cell phones, right? They asked me if someone was at the house because they spent a long time trying to get them to answer the door.
The frustration in his voice was apparent. No one was supposed to be, but yes my girlfriend was home. So I asked if we could reschedule. Sounding very put out he replied that he needed to do scheduling later on that afternoon so he would have to get back to me. Fine. We hung up. So I immediately called my girlfriend and got on her case about not answering the door.
She said she was not feeling well enough to answer the door (which is why she was home when she shouldn't have been), but reminded me that that wasn't the agreement anyway. She and I talked it through. This was their screw up! Don't put the blame on her. they were supposed to call so I could meet them. And she was entirely right. What if the person who was home was my poor, sick, dying grandmother?
For all Bridgetown Electric knew, it very well could have been. This is why people make plans and arrangements and why both parties need to stick to them. We agreed the right thing for them to do is make this right today. We had to get this done because our house was on the market to sell and we had people scheduled to come look at the house that weekend.
So I called Bridgetown Electric back. I explained I rechecked my phone and hadn't received any calls or voicemails, and they needed to make this right today and uphold their end of our agreement. Being caught in a lie, the guy obviously became angry. I still remember his exact words. "You gotta answer the f&%king door!" I couldn't believe it! This guy was cussing ME out?
I calmly explained that wasn't the agreement, my girlfriend wasn't even supposed to be there, and she was not able to answer the door. I continued and said if it's that much trouble for them to do the honorable thing, I'll just get someone else to do the work. "Why don't you do that?" he replied with disdain. And so I did. I suggest you do too.
