Critical: Professionalism, Quality Buyer Beware! If I could give a zero I would. This was by far the worse experience we have ever encountered with a company. Ted is a sweet talker and very unprofessional. He was too busy trying to go on vacation instead of communicating properly to help us better understand the process. Buyer beware! We just moved to SC from WI. We had potential mold in our newly purchased log home so started calling mold remediation companies. After recieving a quote that was quite high based on a visual review my wife called Biotek. Ted talked to my wife and told her to not call a hygienist to test as he would come and test and give us a remediation plan to fix the issue. Ted came into my house with a flashlight and moisture sensor.

Never actually used the sensor, didn't test the air or take a sample of what we believed to be mold. Stated there was essentially mold all over our home without testing anything just using a flashlight and charged us $375 to flash his light on our walls. Also told us that we didn't have to take care of our attic which had surface mold on the insulation even though this seemed to be the problem area.

Basically said we had mold on all surfaces and needed to clean everything, throw away all our belongings inside. and with that flashlight determined it would be $20-30k to solve. After he left I had a two testing companies come review the situation both of which do not offer remediation just do the actual testing, provide results from a 3rd party and provide a suggested plan of action. both said our mold levels were not significant based on the analysis, but should clean a few trouble areas and seal a few cracks.

I feel Ted used fear mongering to try to force us to pay a ridiculous amount of money for his profit. Ted stated "there are a lot of snakes in this industry so you have to watch out". well seems I was looking at one of those snakes in the face. Do your research, have things actually tested and don't just believe the first fast talking remediation company that walks through your home. You can solve on your own for a fraction of the cost.

BIOTEK did a very good job on the mold remediation and treatment. I am a DIY'er and they did for me what I couldn't do myself. I was very satisfied with their part and was able to save on my end. Thank you, BIOTEK. Service: Mold inspection

We have been working with Biotek Environmental Mold Removal in SC for close to ten years. We find them professional, responsive with significant experience and expertise in dealing with mold removal.

Beware of their scare tactic scam. They came into a home I own and told the tenants there was high levels of mold and the 1500 sf home needed $30,000 in remediation. The report did not state any visible signs of mold, there were no photos and they did not conduct indoor and outdoor air samples -standard practice with honest companies. They did however state that I could file with my insurance company and get a new kitchen. CAUTION: if you have a mold concern do not use a company that does the testing and remediation, it is a conflict of interest. Don't let the word 'mold' scare you, that is their intent, there is mold in every home and most are common molds that we breathe in everyday and are not toxic.

Literally sitting here waiting for the floors to dry. I came home after a long day at work to my house basically flooded in the back. I called Biotek and Ryan had Anscel call me who then had Paul come out. I feel so blessed right now. Within 30mins they had fans plugged up and I was able to calm down. I feel assured after seeing them tomorrow, I will have hope on what's gonna happen next with my floors. I am thanking God I was referred to these kind, genuine, good people!

We needed crawl space remediation for a few spots of mold and a slightly high water content in the joists beneath our flooring that was found in the home inspection we had when we bought the house eight months ago. We were told by another contractor that at a minimum we needed "French" trenching dug around the foundation and for best results a new vapor barrier as well.

The first part would cost about $2500 and to add the barrier would bring the price to about $8,000. In contrast, Ancel Hamilton, the owner of Biotek Environmental, did the same inspection and told us that the main problem was that our roof drains were draining right against the foundation. He said that if we extended the pipes so that they carried the drain water farther away from the house, that would probably eliminate most of the problem.

He said a little re-grading of the property (which we needed to do anyway) would help as well. As to the wood's water content, he said it was just slightly above the recommended limits and told us the measures he recommended would most likely cure that. He told me how to test the wood's water content myself, what tool to use, where to get it, and what it should cost.

If the content was still too high, a new vapor barrier would definitely do it, and he said we could probably get it done for about $1500 from any local basement or crawl space specialist, or could do it ourselves for around $1000, depending on how good a vapor barrier we bought. He even explained to me how to do it properly. In closing he said "I could give you a price on this and make it worth our while to come up here, but you can do most of this yourself or pay a local guy to do it much cheaper. You don't really need much work here.

I will agree with everything that my wife said, and add that in addition to coordinating two realtors and having the homeowners leave the home for the inspection (that never happened), my wife and I both took time off of work to show up and wait for an inspector who didn't bother to come do his job (but has myriad excuses for why he didn't).

What a wonderful company! I had a leak in one of my vacant listings and they came within an hour notice. Talk about customer service! They saved my clients so much money by being there so soon. There was water on hardwoods and carpets and they are all being save thanks to Biotek. The staff is awesome to work with and you cannot ask for friendlier people to handle an emergency for you.

You should keep their number in your phone so you can pass it along to others and of course in case you need them yourselves. I cannot say enough about how great my experience was with Biotek.

BioTek is a fabulous company. Ancel & his crew are all kind & compassionate people. I had mold in my house & they did an inspection, then remediation. I loved dealing with everyone involved. I have been very sick with breathing in mold spores & mycotoxins for so long that I desperately needed help with the house. They found the problem area right away & efficiently worked till the mold was gone.

The company has all kinds of equipment for testing, cleaning & dealing with mold issues. I fired tons of questions which were answered honestly, & even dealt with my turbulent emotions to comfort me. They sealed off the affected area to stop the spread of spores & mycotoxins, brought in huge air scrubbers to clean the air of the whole house, used a special vacuum cleaner to clean the carpet, & cleaned the furniture.

All at a reasonable cost. I am so grateful for BioTek. Also I have to say this. I went with BioTek because Darnel, the beautiful woman who answered the phone was & is so kind & compassionate that I knew this was the company for me & that God was & is with them.

BioTek came into our lake house after we observed mold around a base board in one of the bedrooms. They did a complete analysis of the drywall and also the insulation behind the drywall. I was given all the results of the test and a complete report of the findings. They did an excellent job in the analysis and the removal of all the contaminated material.
