Clean Solar

In the summer of 2021 I chose to go with Clean Solar (CS) because of the great reviews on Yelp. Prior to Going with CS I got a few quotes from a few others, and they were all competitive, but what made CS stood out is that they're partnered up with Clean Roofing. Turns out I also needed a new roof (30+ years old). Going with them made the whole process much easier.

It was split up into 2 projects. Once the New Roof was completed the Solar installation process started quickly afterwards (about 3 weeks afterwards). The Solar installation took about 2 and a half days and we were up and running. The entire process was painless and the communication aspect was great. One thing to keep note is that once the Solar is all hooked up it took about 3 and half months for PGE to do their part (Set you up for NEMs billing, not a CS problem). Overall, I recommend Clean Solar as their work is of high quality and they're very efficient in getting the job done (same for Clean Roof which I'll write a review for it later. Spoiler Alert: It's also 5 stars).

Clean Solar has been the only completely reliable contractor we've experienced so far, and we've had many! We took 3 years to be ready for our solar install because everything else with our remodel took way longer than it was supposed to. They were there with knowledgeable answers and support every step of the way. I can't recommend them enough. They were amazing to work with and I recommend them every chance that I get!

In 2013, clean solar did a great job installing a reasonable number of reasonable solar panels and they worked w/o issue for the whole time they were on our roof. In 2020, I started working w/ them again to go crazier with more and more powerful panels along with batteries. Supply shortages and our unique situation took some time to figure out an ideal solution, but once we settled on it, they got it done quickly.

We used Clean Solar for both our panel installation in 2018 and a battery installation, completed April 2022. Given the pandemic and Tesla's decision to prioritize their car production when there was a component shortage, it took almost 2 years to actually get the battery because of supply shortages. Clean Solar was responsive to inquiries the whole time, and kept us informed.

When the time came to actually install the battery, the crew and product management were all courteous, communicative and efficient. Everything that Clean Solar could control, they did, and everything they did control was well handled. Strong recommendation.

We used Clean Solar to install our system several years ago. They were very professional to deal with from sales all the way thru the install and we LOVE our system. I recently contacted them again to understand the choices and costs of adding on to what we already have for a future electric car purchase. Art explained all of the details to us with ease and made what seemed like a complicated subject very easy for us to wrap our arms around. When we decide to pull the trigger on the electric car Art will be our first call so that we can enlarge our system! Top notch team! Highly recommend them!

My experience with Clean Solar has been amazing, from sales information to installation to post-installation review. Each team member at every step of the project & process has been friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions. Clean Solar made the whole process with city inspection painless for me. They took care of all the paperwork and communication with the city as well as my utility provider (PG&E).

Even though everything was taken care of on my behalf, they kept me informed every step of the way. They have a fantastic warranty and guarantee, I'm so happy with my new solar panel system.

I had a great experience installing solar panels and a new electric panel with Clean Solar. Michelle the project manager went above and beyond and Art was great to open/close the project. I felt extremely well informed throughout the whole process. The workmanship and panel output has exceeded my expectations and the project ran shorter (!) than was advertised.

I could have paid slightly less with another local company but it was clear from reviews that the quality of the experience here was much higher -- and I was not disappointed! I'd choose Clean Solar again in a heartbeat

Our installation was in 2016 and the Clean Solar system has done its job as advertised since then. One of the reasons that we selected Clean Solar was because of the 25 year warranty. We received notification late last year (2021) from 365 Pronto that our wireless access would be terminated when the local wireless provider discontinued 2G service. 365 Pronto offered to install a new wireless card in our system for ~$585.

I then reached out to Clean Solar (on Jan 27) to learn what the deal is. This was where their customer service broke down. On Jan 31, I received a message from customer service that their executive team was reviewing and I would have an update by the end of the week. Didn't happen I sent another email request on Feb 4. Received a message from customer service on Feb 7 that the executive team is still reviewing.

I sent another email on Feb 28 since I had not received any information. I received another message from customer service on March 1. Executive team still reviewing. March 15 and I still have not received any word from Clean Solar about the solution. Clean Solar customer service responded on Mar 18. They would install a new card. This is not covered under their 25 year warranty.

Their charge to install a new card is higher than 365 Pronto. On Mar 23 I responded that I wanted to order the install (which must be prepaid) and get in line. Sent another email on Mar 24 and my last one on Mar 25 telling them that I want to place the order. Today, March 28 I tried to call to place the order at 10:00 am. All I can get is a recording stating that I was calling after hours and send an email that they would answer within 48 business hours. My experience says otherwise. DON'T EXPECT SERVICE AFTER THE SALE FROM CLEAN SOLAR. DON'T BELIEVE THEIR 25 YEAR WARRANTY.

I recommend Clean Solar as I had an excellent sales experience and installation. They were responsive to queries during the process and didn't try to oversell. They were patient in explaining options and trade offs. They also have an assortment of panels to choose from. The install passed inspection with no findings. Only caveat I would make is that they were in high demand so there was a wait that they were completely transparent about. I was willing to wait as I still snuck in under the wire with NEM 2.0. I got LG panels and no battery storage as I have only had one unplanned power outage in 20 years.

They are running a scam! They would assure you that they will take $1000 deposit and no expenses would be incurred until you give them a go ahead. As soon as you cancel the project, they have applied $400 cost without providing a receipt on what and where the cost was incurred. Basically they are charging twice the price of the industry standards. Their sales person would just provide some random numbers and without any official receipt.

Today, 9-Mar-22, was the final onsite visit with Loga, my Clean Solar Rep. Thank you Logan for all your assistance over the months. My journey started with Clean Solar July 2021. I did not call any other solar businesses, due to the people that referred me to Clean Solar. I started working with Logan on the scope of work to include panel installation and backup battery storage.

I appreciated that he asked, more than once, why I wanted solar with such low electrical usage. My reasons were 1) environment, 2) unstable grid, 3) backup power, and 4) tax credit. I started meeting with different leads related to the solar and battery project. I had both the panel guy and the battery guy come on the same day. Both were very friendly and professional.

The panel guy had the harder job as I live in circa 1894, 3-story home with a VERY steep roof. Great discussions, lots of agreement, no surprises. I began interfacing with Stephanie, the Project Manager, regarding timelines and what to expect. We found a good communication rhythm, which helped as the project began stretching over several months. My panels, with inverter, shutoff, etc. were installed early November.

The installation was a 2-day job. Crew was very professional. Amazing to look at the sleekness of the panels on the roof of my vintage home. During the day I would engage in conversation with the "electrical" person on the ground and learned a lot about the system. The inspection was a breeze. I had a thorough onsite visit with Logan after panel installation phase was completed. Went through forms, next steps and the ever-important discussion about the PG&E interconnection steps and timing.

During the same time frame the final plans for the battery were being approved by Redwood City. For full disclosure, I was NOT backing up every circuit in my house, as it was NOT necessary. The Clean solar team worked with me making sure the critical circuits would be covered. Late 2021,o r early 2022, the plans were approved and installation of the battery took place mid-January over two days. Again, a very professional crew.

They went the extra mile by making slight changes to layout of equipment for efficiency and look. We sailed through the final inspection in February. Just a side note. With each installation, I was reminded that the crew would do touch up painting to the exterior of my home. I thanked them and said I was changing the color, so not to worry. Today is a good day to post this review.

My project is complete AND the Federal tax refund landed in my checking account. I will also get another refund when I file 2022 taxes, since some of my costs were paid this year. I am very satisfied with Clean Solar and the respect that they afforded to me and my vintage home. It feels very good feeling knowing that I am doing something for the environment, getting the tax credit and a having sense of security of not being tied to an aging grid. Thank you Clean Solar.

I had a solar system installed by Clean Solar 3 years ago and I was satisfied with the install (even though they punctured a water pipe and caused a leak). But a few days ago I got an email saying I had to upgrade the inverter they installed. Apparently the inverter uses a cellular network that is no longer being supported and Clean Solar will need to charge me $650 for the upgrade. $350 for the part and $300 for labor.

I was never told in the sale or install process that I will be responsible for future cellular network upgrades. In the email they state "We apologize for this inconvenience, even though it was beyond our control". But they plan on making a profit by charging their former clients $650 to upgrade an inverter they recommended and installed. They should do the right thing and offer a discount for the upgrade. I emailed their customer support and no reply.

I started off with my home, loved the experience and then decided to get my 2 gas stations and commercial building done. Decided to get self-cleaning panels. They did an amazing job, precise project management, great team of engineers, and no headaches for me. I'm a busy guy, and I don't have time to manage all the tiny details and I've had no worries with Soleeva so far.

This review is for Art, he was very quick to respond and very informative. He knows the product, the industry and was happy to explain everything to me. Art also understood my requirements for what I wanted to get out of the system.

Sought multiple solar quotes as we were looking to get this done ASAP with NEM 3.0 potentially coming out. Someone reached out to us promptly after we requested a quote and we were scheduled with Art as our consultant. He was patient in explaining and showing me via video conference on excel the different calculations and how it would affect our potential annual kWh production.

I threw in various other variables as well (aka unknown commute/WFH status due to COVID and trying to anticipate the future once restrictions lighten up) and he definitely helped me navigate and come to a system set up that would best anticipate the future. Although we ultimately did not use Clean Solar for our Solar installation at our home due to pretty hefty quote for a 22 panel system, I would totally recommend their services based on the expertise and experience I received if you can afford it. Unfortunately, I just couldn't justify the cost compared to other solar companies out there but Clean Solar does have a terrific warranty which is unique to the industry (they guarantee that you will receive no less than 98% of the projected annual kWH figures they provide in their quote or aka 2% loss and if your annual kWh production does not meet at least 98% of what was projected, they reimburse you based on PG&E retail rates).

On my end, I presume typical annual kWH production would not vary between solar installation companies if I'm using the same panels and if god forbid my solar system does not meet the projected annual kWH production, it would likely be due to a failure of a panel which would be covered by warranty regardless. Nevertheless, this company is terrific and if you can afford it, would recommend using them!

I was interested in getting a solar installation this past spring and started out talking with some of the larger national companies, but their sales reps were sort of pushy and seemed to be telling me patently false things about NEM to try to scare me into signing a contract quickly. Some of my neighbors were emailing about solar and one had nothing but great things to say about Clean Solar - that they were "honest and very thorough." So I scheduled a call and Matt (who has since moved on) was indeed very helpful and transparent!

I think decisions around cost, warranty, production guarantee, etc. are probably pretty personal but I thought Clean Solar was very competitive and I liked going with a company that was a bit more local but still very tenured. I also liked that they also had the roofing division in case that came into play. It took a while to move through all the phases of the project, but they were transparent about that.

The city / permits can be slow, and Clean Solar has its own schedule of projects that they have to fit you into. I think our installation was completed well within the time frame they initially outlined. Our project manager Daryl was superb. He kept us extremely up to date on everything that was happening and was very responsive. And our installation team (John, Miguel and Cesar) were excellent, navigating a super challenging and steep roof!

The installation took a bit longer than expected because of the roof and some rain, but they got it done and seemed to really do a great job. And then Nick handled the final inspection wonderfully. I had a followup call with Art, who was very helpful - he's who my neighbor worked with! And Randy the CEO reached out to check in and get feedback. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the work, their communication, and their integrity, and would heartily recommend Clean Solar to anyone!

Incredibly rude service over the phone. The intro phone call is a long interrogation that meanders and drags on like a clickbait website that goes into page after page of information required with no end. The lady on the phone I spoke with today lacks phone manners and shouldn't have a role in customer service. I was very excited to work with Clean Solar based on their yelp reviews but will take my business elsewhere. What doesn't start well doesn't end well.

I have had the pleasure to work with Christie and Anthony of Clean Solar for over a year now as they were installing solar panels where I work. They were so easy to work with and stayed in constant communication with me. We have over 100 individual electric meters that they had to get all of that figured out. It was a long process (over 2 years) with challenges from our energy provider. Thank you Clean Solar, Christie and Anthony.

I don't know what's wrong with these people.are they still in business? I called them several times over the past couple of weeks during normal business hours, and every time I would get a voicemail: "Sorry that you have contacted us beyond our normal business hours. Please leave your contact information and we will get back in touch with you." Each time I called I left my name, phone number and address. Not a peep back! I gave up waiting and moved on to another company that would appreciate my business. Plenty of other reputable solar companies out there!

I was very pleased with the entire solar installation process. I received exceptional professional service throughout the process which was on time and as expected with no delays or surprises. From my solar consultant, Matt Doe, to my project manager, Daryl Kimble to my project foreman, Angel Ramirez, to my project planner, Ron Launer, the whole team was coordinated, gave clear communication and project updates. I would definitely recommend this company which I feel is head and shoulders above the other solar options in the Bay Area.

I started looking for solar quotes in January 2021. I came across Clean Solar on Yelp and reached out via their website questioner. I was connected with Logan who I communicated with throughout the process of selecting an installer. He was SUPER helpful through everything and was great at answering all of my questions. He always got back to me quickly (days, nights, weekends).

Of all of the companies I spoke with Logan and Clean Solar were the most helpful and upfront about what I should expect and look out for when choosing the right setup. He gave a workup of our solar design, explained all of the costs, broke down how everything would work and gave us an accurate estimate of how it would benefit us in the long term. Clean Solar didn't wind up being the most inexpensive quote that I received, but with our metal tile roof being easy to damage I wanted to choose a company that would follow through and do things correctly.

I was consistently impressed by the experience, knowledge and professionalism that everyone I talked to at Clean Solar demonstrated. I signed with Clean Solar mid February, and the installation began (ahead of schedule) by late march. It took three days to finish the install and a couple more visits to tie everything up. During the install, the roof did wind up suffering some damage (minor cosmetic dents).

I knew it was unavoidable, since its pretty difficult to walk on, let alone install solar on. When i reached out with my concerns to the installation team and project manager, they addressed it quickly and even paid to send out the same roofer that originally installed the roof to fix it up nicely. A couple months later, our solar setup is working great and performing better than expected. In the end I'm glad I went with Clean Solar as they followed through with all of their promises and designed a great system that I feel confident about.

I had two Tesla Powerwall 2s with Gateway 2 installed by Clean Solar. The project went from Dec 2019 till Apr 2021. Good things come to those who wait, as the saying goes. Thanks to Bill, Stephanie, Gene and Marco for completing the project given the many bumps that were encountered. The worksmanship was excellent. I couldn't be happier with the end result despite how long it took. The Powerwalls are amazing!

Phenomenal experience from beginning to end. Art provided a very clear presentation of the project and the communication from Michele along the way was excellent. The crew was in and out in less time than expected and you could not even tell they were there until you looked at the roof. Art then followed up with all the information we needed including PG&E billing details, warranties & registration, serial numbers and all the other important details that are often neglected as a project winds down. Clean Roofing completed a new GAF Landmark Pro roof. They were prompt in returning calls, their estimate was reasonably priced and they worked with me concerning the installation date. The removal of the old roof was clean and efficient. Two very hard working employees installed the new roof and as far as I could tell, did an excellent job. Clean solar then installed 16 Sunpower panels, plus a Solar Edge inverter.

The installation went very smoothly and the system works very well, generating a greater amount of electricity daily then the original estimate. We had a two month delay because of COVAD19; however, as soon as they could, they completed the work. I highly recommend them and their salesperson, Tim.

I used to clean solar twice for my homes. I'd prefer the way they install the panels takes more time without damaging the roof tiles. but most importantly I didn't have to follow up with them when something went wrong as part of their monitoring service they reached out to me before I even knew there was a problem. They're true to their warranty and their service is exemplary

Excellent experience with Clean Solar. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and responsive. They're an honest company and don't try to oversell you on size of system or additional products/services (e.g., battery storage). Our system looks really nice aesthetically, which is a combination of SunPower panels (easily the best looking panels available) and an excellent job by the Clean Solar installers.

I initially contacted Clean Solar about an installation on a home that turned out to be unsuitable for panels, but I was so impressed with their program and their staff that I ended up using them at another location. They were thoroughly professional, communicated well and followed up on every detail. There were a couple of small snags, but they dealt with them quickly and to my total satisfaction. Would give them my highest recommendation, and I'm generally pretty conservative about these things.

I am so proud to have my CleanSolar system installed. From the first day of contact to the last day of the final walk through, I was very happy with all interactions with everyone at CleanSolar. I liked that they stand behind getting the most efficient panels and inverters from the beginning. I did my own research and gotten multiple quotes from other installers that quoted less efficient panels from the start. CleanSolar was the only company to quote SunPower from the beginning.

Their quote was very competitive with others that were quoting less efficient panels and had a shorter warranty and production guarantee. My solar analyst, Craig Rush, was very helpful in taking the time to explain every nuance about CleanSolar solar systems and the different configurations possible. Even though, I used to design solar panels; I was still apprehensive in investing such a large amount on solar panels.

He dedicated a lot of time to explain everything to me and helped me to cautiously step through the entire process, production guarantee, payments, rebates and all the different inverter options, AC vs DC output, and configurations. Again, I don't think I could have had a better experience with being guided through the whole process. From the beginning, I wanted the most efficient panels and knew I was going to pay out of pocket for them.

My roof is very broken up and steep and knew it would be a difficult job to layout. Leasing was not an option because my consumption was too low but I have always wanted panels on my roof to be a good environmentalist. Craig was very helpful in explaining the priority (South, West, East) for where to put my panels and even found room for 2 extra on my roof.

He explained that I could stick with my original 8 or less or go for the whole thing which I opted for. My payback is a little longer than most would accept (15 years) and we will probably move before the system is paid back and I am making way more power then we use but I am happy and joyful knowing that I am doing my part to help Mother Earth. When we move, the first thing after getting our keys, CleanSolar will be coming out to put another system on my new place.

Great estimator came to my house to do survey and take measurements. He explained the process, pricing, and other details and answered questions well. Professional installers did work on time and a great job.
