Parker-D Fence History of Parker-D Fence Company. Jerry Dodgen bought the company in 1971 from Frank Parker, who had started the company in 1955. It was called Parker Fence Company at that time. Jerry added the "D" and changed the name to Parker-D Fence Company. Jerry also bought a 1930 A Model truck with three rolls of wire fence loaded in the back and incorporated it as the new logo.

Jerry Dodgen retired in 1998, the same year the company moved to its present location of 526 N. Broad St. Gastonia NC. Jerry's son Rocky started working for his dad at age 12 after school, weekends and summers for $1.00/hr. Today Rocky Dodgen is the president of Parker-D and has over 38 years experience building fences (the only job he's ever had!) Parker-D has 8 employees and really takes pride in their work, having built thousands of fences in North and South Carolina.

Our company awarded fence repair job to Parker-D based low cost and being responsive to provide a proposal. From there the service went downhill. The owner Rocky is rude and arrogant. I tried to get a commitment on when they would start and finish the job, but I only got the runaround. He always blamed it on the weather and he had lots of customers. A job that should have taken a few days to complete lasted over 2 months to finally complete. This was my 1st and last time using Parker-D.

Installed our fence incorrectly by not checking the survey, then turned around and charged $2,000 to fix the mistake they made! WATCH OUT! Worst business relationship with customers I've ever seen.

So after the hurricane that just passed we had a tree fall on our fence. This company was wonderful when we used them 3 years ago, so I called them up and asked if I could get a quote on repairing our fence. Your company gave me a Tuesday and a Wednesday time. I said I was off Tuesday, but your estimate guy said that Wednesday would work better. I told him that was ok, but I have a dog that is out and to call me before he came because I would have my father-in-law come by and put him up.

He said he would be there. Fast forward to Wednesday, November 4, 2020 I get a call from a sweet man at 12:45 pm at work and am told my dogs hair is fluffed and is keeping him from getting out of the car. I apologized and told him that I forgot about today due to my schedule with my children, my work, and my school. I also informed him that I was supposed to get a phone call before the arrival.

I am very apologetic and advise him we will have to reschedule to when I am home. The conversation ended. Fast forward to 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 4 I get 2 phone calls back to back. I dont have a voicemail so I call the number back. The owner answers and i say hello, my name is Fashion I am sorry I missed your call. I am met back with, "Mam, I hear my tech came to Cherryville and your dog was out.

You know we made a special trip from Gastonia to Cherryville to give you a quote and you also know how bad traffic on Dallas Cherryville Hwy is? Right?" I said, "I understand" He went on to tell me that he was disappointed in me. I stopped him and asked "What he wanted from me?" I apologized, I wanted to schedule when I was there, I advised about the dog." He wanted to keep arguing and I finally said, "I am a mother of 2 young daughters, a full time worker, full time student, and I am human." I kept asking what he wanted from me.

This was extremely unprofessional of a well established company to call a customer of theirs and say they are disappointed. Sir, I am not disappointed to say that we will no longer do business with you. You are not my father. Yes you do have a right to be disappointed. I am disappointed in myself for letting life get too overwhelming that I forgot about this quote, but your tech also had a responsibility to call me.

He was advised that there was a dog on the premises. You don't have a right to call me and tell me how I was the "special trip" of the day and that you are disappointed. If you cannot drive from Gastonia to Cherryville to give me a repair estimate on a $2,500 dollar fence that we paid for over 3 years without possibilities of unforeseen circumstances then your company must be really failing.

If you wanted me to pay for the mans gas all you had to do was ask and I would have gladly paid for the gas. I pray for you sir because I hope I never run into a rude man like yourself at another company. Customer service goes a long way even if you are disappointed.

The owner called my company for a qote because we were confused that my son was a difrent contractor after he Leeward my son there when my son was not to contractor he had issues with in the first he imediitly slammed the door in his face my I would not buy anything from where very scary and wierd experience I don't no why the owner so upset

Rocky the Owner is very polite and professional, as well as the men that came out to install our fence. It was a quick process yet they made sure everything was done correctly. Definitely recommend!

Horrible company. If I could give them zero stars I would. Had them to come out, take down and redo my rod iron porch railing. It took them almost a month to do it. And after they brought it back and put it, a week later the porch railing was rusting again. I called the owner and he was very rude, disrespectful, and did not care that I was an unhappy customer.

I asked him to redo the railing again correctly. He told me no because he said "they are just a fence company." I replied by saying "if you could not do the work you should not have taken on the job." Beware of this company, use them at your own risk. AND IT WILL BE A RISK.

These guys were great! I was having a bad weekend when my boat trailer lost a wheel and had to be towed home to Gastonia from Mount Holly and then the wrecker backed into my fence! The wrecker driver was a friend of mine and Parker D fence worked with both of us for a good price and did great work! Thank you!

What is the difference between a handy-man fence and one by Parker D Fence Co? Answer: About $25,000 wasted! I had a handy-man build a brick column fence with 18' section of wrought iron, thinking I was saving a large amount of money. After a year I had to tear the entire fence down and rebuild the columns with proper footers.
