Suma Landscaping

We had our entire front and back yard redone by Suma. They have been doing our maintenance for more than 25 years. We couldn't be happier.

Originally Steven who works there did my landscaping prior to working at Suma and he is absolutely amazing. Needed some clean up but Steven was not available so we has another employee. The work was by far not up to par and that employee was very unresponsive. Spoke to the owner who then sent Steven out to fix his mess and replace all of the plants they had replaced which were terrible.

All in all my experience was not good and very expensive for what I received and the hassle it was. The owner is very nice and professional, that being said I know they have a good reputation but if you do use them I would suggest you ask for Steven. Not sure of the other employees, probably ok but the one I got was NOT good.

We have had a wonderful experience with Susan and her team of professionals at Suma. We hired Suma to help us landscape the outdoor area of our spa & meditation studio in Marin, and they did a gorgeous job of choosing the perfect plants and containers for our setting as well as the unique climate of Sausalito. When our landlord later complained about a design element, Suma was incredibly responsive, prompt and remedied the issue on their time and completely at their expense. Amazing customer service! Highly recommend, especially to businesses who want an experienced, professional landscape team. Thanks Suma & Susan!

Working with Suma for several years has been awesome, especially since the owner is so knowledgeable and hands on about all things in the garden. But the special plus came when my deck was crumbling. Suma has an expert design and engineering dept. who came out the day after my call, assessed the problem, gave me a competitive quote and a timely schedule.

They did the work exactly on time and on budget with a minimum of disruption. My deck is beautiful and safe. I wholeheartedly recommend Suma Landscaping for commercial and residential service. By the way, the crew and the staff in the office are so nice and so responsive. You can't ask for better!

I am the pastor of a church in Sausalito. Almost 10 years ago our church decided to re-evaluate how the landscaping around our facility was being cared for. Part of our campus includes a large garden with mature trees, floral plantings, and hedges. That in addition to the landscaping around the church itself, which includes both planted landscaping and potted plants. It's a big job.

After careful consideration and review of a half dozen landscaping companies we chose Suma Landscaping and boy did we make the right choice. The team at Suma has been caring for ALL of the landscaping on our campus ever since. They have always done a great job, but I decided to write this review because of some last minute help they provided to us last month.

We were preparing for Easter Sunday which, as you can imagine, is a critical day for a church. Due to some bad weather the week prior, the landscaping around our church looked awful. The amazing team at Suma responded right away and were at the church replanting flowers, trimming tree branches, and mowing and blowing the whole campus. The church looked amazing on Easter Sunday and we have Suma to thank for it. I cannot overstate how much we appreciate the team at Suma Landscaping and would recommend them for whatever gardening or landscaping needs you may have.

SUMA has been doing our maintenance for many, many years. They are now just wrapping up our Landscape project. Steve, Eugene and the guys have been great to work with. So happy we selected them!

I reached out to Suma landscaping for help replacing some irrigation on my property. The owner called me back and once she found out I wouldn't be hiring her for a major project that would cost tens upon thousands of dollars with her, she lost interest and practically hung up on me. Looking for a landscaper that actually cares about customers now.

Suma Landscaping has been caring for our garden for 8 years. Their attention to detail, reliability, and communication are first rate. Our garden is stunning in every season, thanks to Suma's hardwork.

After 12 years in my 'new' home in the East Bay suburbs, I was ready to commit to a remodel of my large backyard. It was functional as a safe play-place for my pets, but was otherwise unattractive (and therefore, unused) and increasingly decrepit as the wooden walkways and retaining wall showed their age. Beginning with a home visit and my communication of 'general principles' (my objectives, aesthetic, intended functions) to Suma, staff quickly transformed these into a clear plan.

They were open to revisions and also explained their reasoning if any of my suggestions were not practical. I felt like I was working with a trusted family member who was giving me the benefit of their experience and completely working on my behalf. Although the project was not time-sensitive, they worked it into their schedule quickly and the work was completed within a week! Onsite, the staff and crew were diligent, thoughtful, and focused.

They connected with me to make any further adjustments needed and changes were easily incorporated into their operations. The project involved removal of structures, regrading a slope, installation of a lovely dry (stone) river bed, wooden steps, and drip irrigation system, and planting of virtually all the vegetation -- trees, grasses, forbs, and shrubs.

The result: absolutely lovely! Suma designed and executed a plan that has transformed my backyard space into something that gives me (and my neighbors) much pleasure and is low maintenance. It still serves as a safe play-place for my pets, but now for me, too! The cost was very reasonable and the service/process and result -- fantastic. I have no reservations in recommending Suma to anyone who wants the best at a reasonable cost. Deborah R.

WOW they are expensive! Needed to do some "curb appeal" work prior to the sale of my house. Initial quote came in just under $6,000, which included planting, mulching, gravel on 2 small paths, and and installation of soak-er hoses for a low-budget irrigation option. Ironically, this was twice as much as the cost to paint my entire house and have a deck rebuilt!

We tried to bring the cost down to something more reasonable by reducing the scope of the job. By the time we got the costs to a reasonable level, the work was reduced to pruning some shrubs and putting mulch down -- for $2K! Are you kidding me? I'm sure they do a wonderful job, but I will never find out because the costs are through the roof. This is Oakland - not Beverly Hills people. Reality check.

We've gone through a number of gardeners over the years and always had problems of one sort or the other, until we found Anna at Suma Landscaping. Our garden has never looked better or been healthier. We are outrageously pleased! They are a little higher in price than some of the other places but we have a significant investment in our landscape and having it properly maintained is far less costly in the long run than having to replace trees and plants that haven't been properly cared for.

The maintenance is dependable and well done but they earned the extra star in this review for their efforts in getting our garden ready for our wedding reception. We arrived home from our honeymoon to find the space exactly as we had envisioned. Flowers had been planted, every loose leaf had been removed, every plant looking and feeling it's best. Guests who hadn't been over in a while were stunned at the difference. Very well done! Thank you Anna and team!
