Had a warranty plan through a company called HMS that used Hawkins as a contractor to do warranty claim calls. Heat went out prior to one of the coldest weeks this winter and technician in this area at least, comes out to replace a capacitor on the outside unit due to the outside fan not running, charges us the deductible and leaves. Never checks to be sure we were getting heat again, and come to find out, mistook a built in baseboard heater we had running in the kitchen for the actual heat duct of the house! Really?
So he comes back, says the air flow is weak, and it must be the system. No explanation on what to do, what he means by it must be the system etc. So he leaves anyway and says run the fan only for the night and see if the flow returns. It never does. Call the guy back and we get the normal stuff of anything that is preventative maintenance is not covered by the warranty.
That is all fine I have no issue with that so he comes back 4 days later, all this time without any heat in the house outside of the fact that some rooms were designed with built in base board heaters as supplemental heaters due to this being a heat pump. After finally coming back out, he crawls under the house to check the coil because our house is a townhouse with a crawlspace where most of the piping and so forth is.
This also makes us think this is why we cannot get any service due to the difficult nature of where the coil is. Well the air flow issue according to this tech is due to a very dirty coil that needs to be chemically cleaned and he would need to find some heavy duty cleaner to avoid removing the coil to have it bathed in this cleaner which would be expensive and that was two days ago and still have heard nothing.
We even asked to setup a yearly maintenance plan with them so we could have it checked every year for the fee and give them the business if this was the case but not happening now. If it would let me rate 0 stars I would have. Been through 2 of the coldest days this winter with nothing but built in baseboard heaters and I am going to hate to see next months electric bill since those are supplemental heaters only.

I have been with Hawkins for o we two years now. Purchased an entire HVAC system from them. From installation to yesterday's maintenance visit, all work done with professional expertise and courtesy. Most of my service has been performed by Keagan. He is extremely professional and explains everything clearly. I feel confident my system is in peak working order when he leaves. Thank you.

I contacted Hawkins when my AC went out. The first technician was super friendly and efficient and was able to get my blower motor replaced the same day - the technician went and got the part right away and came back to install it. I had a vibrating noise after the installation, and what impressed me the most is they stood behind their work, came back out, and fixed the issue at no charge (the Freon line was slightly moved when installing my motor and was on my over the range microwave vent). Thank you to Mike and Eric for your friendly service and to Hawkins for a incredibly awesome job. Would recommend them to anyone.

Hawkins, or as my husband likes to call them, HEROES saved us from the hot humidity of the Hampton roads summer. We were on day five of no AC, hopelessly waiting for A1 to show up after repeatedly being told a bunch of lies about when they'd finally come. We finally gave up on A1, despite still having some warranty time left, and called Hawkins around 11am.
They said they would be there by 2pm the same day and showed up at 1:38pm! I was so impressed with their timeliness, especially after playing a waiting game for so long. The tech Keagan (sp?) and his orientee Mike were both awesome. I explained the trouble shooting we had done and gave them a system tour. They got to work immediately diagnosing our multitude of issues mostly stemming from the original installation.
My husband came home from work to be there and he was just as pleased with them as I was. Once the problems were found, a very reasonable quote was given to us. We were more than happy to authorize the work to begin immediately. As a bonus, if your service call is M-F, and you chose to have the work done, they don't charge you for a service call, which was awesome and saved us some money. Turns out, our "warranty" was a parts only manufacturer's warranty, and none of the actual machinery parts were bad.
Within maybe 90 minutes, our system had wonderfully cold air blowing through it again. They explained it would be overnight when the temp would actually be at what we wanted and the system would then just maintain the temp. It was actually to temp by around 10pm, which was a bonus. We did have a section of ductwork that was crushed at some point previously that needed to be replaced.
We arranged for 2pm tomorrow to put in the new section of duct, and again Keagan was right on time. Great experience all around! I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs fast, professional, reasonably priced HVAC work!

Install of my Maytag unit was done by another company who did not follow through. Advanced Heating and Air put me under their maintenance contract two years ago and has been servicing my unit ever since with nothing but outstanding service. Employees are all very professional and polite and clean up when they're done. I plan on staying with this company.

Hawkins AC and Heating was recommended by a close neighbor. The technician, Vincent, was on time and very thorough with the inspection and routine servicing of our air handler/outside unit. He was patient in explaining all the details of the service call and provided service recommendations for the future.

The service provided was top notch! I've had some issues with heating balancing in my house and finally decided to make a call on it. Because of my work schedule, I asked if they can accommodate a later visit, in which they gladly did. The mechanic who showed up, Eric, was right on time and extremely professional. He went through all the troubleshooting of my system and ran me through the whole process.
He really explained what issues were present and taught me a few things to check on. I will definitely use Hawkins Heating & Air Conditioning again, and will establish recurring maintenance agreement with them!

Was very impressed with how professional he was. Usually, contractors are late or get tied up with another customer, but he was actually a half-hour early. Really made a difference when your air gives out in a heatwave. Other companies said that they wouldn't get to us for 4-5 days. Their are hero's.!

Eric was fantastic! He performed a check-up on both my AC units as well as helped me troubleshoot an issue I was having with one of them. I also had Eric a couple of years ago for a previous check-up as well as repairing/replacing some ductwork in my crawlspace. He is always attentive, thorough and knowledgeable as well as very personable and friendly!
The company has done a great job of integrating technology (invoicing, documentation and payments through iPhones & iPads, infrared and inspection cameras) into their business as well, making the whole process paper-free!

The level of service and commitment received from Hawkins Heating & Air Condtioning far exceeded all expectations. The personal care and treatment was, and always is amazing. Our air conditioning unit was having issues over the weekend so we called Hawkins and their response time was extremely fast and the dedication to resolve the issue was spectacular! When our heat didn't work this winter the owner of the company came out on a Saturday night and took care of the problem for us. He and his technicians are always polite, helpful and knowledgeable. We tried two other Hvac firms in Sandbridge but Hawkins beats both in response time and technical expertise. Vincent is easy to work with and the preventative maintenance plan is actually worth it compared with other firms. They are genuinely interested in keeping my system running and their prices are competitive.

The reason for the visit was a yearly system check. They were a little late but I did get a phone call before the scheduled time. Once he got here they did a good job even though he forgot to check one of my pressures. The only issue I have is that they tried to sell me two things, a surge suppression system and a new capacitor. I was told that the capacitor may have taken a power hit and that is why they were recommending the surge suppression system. Sounded plausible but my system is 10 years old and I have not had any problems with any of my other electronics therefore I was sure that it was an age thing, but I thought that it was prudent to replace the capacitor.
They did it took about 5 minutes and a charge of $170.00. Best I can figure the capacitor costs $50.00, if that, so I guess they charged me for an hour of labor even though he was already here. I think that I would have rated them higher if they had only charged for a 1/2 hour. I am not sure if this is standard practice.

Hawkins came out today to do a regular annual maintenance check-up. We found them through Dominion Power for the option of getting a rebate for having a maintenance done for efficiency of power use. The service technician that came out did the check-up, took a bit longer than normal due to a breaker issue. Later after work, we noticed the unit was not cooling although it was running.slightly frustrated we called Hawkins who sent another technician (Eric) came out after hours and after he was home and eating dinner to come evaluate the issue.
It was a simple fix, the previous technician just forgot to flip a switch, and most likely did so with having to fix the unforeseen breaker issue. Both technicians were extremely polite and we appreciated having the problem fixed ASAP with a smile. Even with the little hiccup we will definitely use Hawkins again.
